Of course he recognised the placeIt was were they wiped out an entire village and its occupants 2 years back . It was on one of his first 'missions' with his newly acquirred teacher…

 

Flashback

 

Men fighting everywhere. A small child crying for it's mother that was just out of his reach, holding his teddy bear close to his body. The mother screaming when two men grabbed her. The green grass had turned red from all the spoiled blood. He averted his gaze, he couldn't handle this any longer. What was the point of this? What was he supposed to learn from this?

 

It was an hour later and the battle was over. Houses were still burning and the ground was covered with pale bodies contrasting strongly with the dark red that seemed to cover everything in sight. The child he saw earlier was one of them, separated from the bear he held on to so desperately. The mother was nowhere to be seen. They had probably raped her, and beat her beyond recognition. Orochimaru and his men had won. And for what? He couldn't think of any reason. When Sasuke asked Orochimaru, he responded that the village was expanding too close to their hiding space, and they couldn't take the risk of being discovered. But the tone of his voice said otherwise, Sasuke could trace a hint of amusement in his voice. He found it amusing to let an entire village dissappear in the blink of an eye? Or was he amused by how dispaired Sasuke must have looked at the sight of all those innocent people that were killed…no, slaughtered. They didn't even had a fighting chance!

 

He had the urge to burst into tears, but couldn't let Orochimaru see his weakness. He just decided to pretend as if it never happened.

 

End Flashback

 

But he couldn't do it, the nightmares he had of his family and clan getting killed by his own brother, sometimes mingled with dreams of the events that took place almost 2 years ago. And now here he is again, at one of the two sources of his nightmares. And than he looked at the open spot in the woods, still marked from the ferocious battle that once took place there. Nothing growed there any more. Everything just died, along with the people that inhabited this place. Sasuke shivered once more.

 

"I'll take that as a yes," a grinning Orochimaru interrupted his thoughts. "I can see you are still upset about it, frail Sasuke of mine."

 

Sasuke thought that this had to be some kind of twisted game, invented to mess with his mental state.

"Ok, whatever, teach me that damn technique already!". He tried to sound angy, but his voice was shaking and was not convincing at all.

 

, Orochimaru started walking away from Sasuke, stopped a few meters further, but he didn't turn himself around. "I won't" and he tilted his head to the side as if he was listening to something.

"What?! But you said...!"

 

"I thought we killed them all" he says to no one particularly. "But I guess I was mistaken" and he shakes his head. An interested look appeared on his face along with an entertaining smile “….well this might be amusing”

"What are you talking ab..." but the sannin put up his hand in the air, showing him the backside of it, signalising him to stop talking.

Sasuke got the hint; they weren't alone any more. How could he have missed that? He immediately activated his sharingan yet didn't notice anyone's presence in the surrounding area.

They were in a vulnerable position, a clear target on open ground, surrounded by the impenetrable woods. For all he knew, they could have them surrounded.

 

He was in deep thought when Orichimaru faced him and started talking to him calmly: "Don't worry Sasuke-san, you will learn something new today, that's the reason I brought you here after all. But it won't be me doing the teaching today.She will teach you, although that probably won't be her intention”

Sasuke knew what he was talking about; with his bloodline he could copy almost every move he saw and instantly remember it. But who he was the whitefaced sannin talking about, and what is that mystery person capable of? He had almost surpassed his own teacher, surely there wouldn't be much new to learn from a mere shinobi?

 

“You can come out now, Amaya-chan…"

 

At that moment a giant black figure came out of the bushes and began nearing the two males at a rapid speed.

 

A sparrow???

 

The bird opened his beak and spit out a ball of chakra that was aimed at Orichimaru; who dodged it with ease. Disappointed with the failed attack, it emitted a loud screech and landed on the branch of a giant oak tree,

A puff of black smoke appeared, covering the giant bird and blurring Sasuke's vision, and when he regained his sight, the sparrow was gone. Instead a young woman, he figured about his age, was squatting on the branch.

Some kind of transformation jutsu? But that's impossible! My Sharingan would have noticed. Who the hell is this kunoichi?

 

“That's Susume-san for you, Orichimaru-teme”
