The village of Konoha was a small peaceful place where many groups of people resided. There was the typical every day citizens that lived towards the left side of the village who either ran marketing jobs that sold rare goods or took up the regular ordinary jobs such as paint shops, black smiths, and so on. Then came the ninjas who lived either on the outskirts of the village or to the right. Instead of a military the village of Konoha used a group of ninjas called ANBU to protect the people inside. In the center of the village there were three large buildings. The center building is where the Hokage, or the head of the village, resides and rules. To the left of the Hokage's building is a Ninja school where small children learn the way of the ninja. To the right two buildings, is a small regular school for other small children not interested in the art of ninjutsu.
A young woman in her twenties with pearly white orbs and dark purple hair walked along the busy streets of Konoha. Her wooden clogs made soft clunking noises as she gently walked. She looked at the decorated stores and streets. There were posters, confetti, paper dragons, and banners hung up every where.
“Hinata Chan!” A voice called out to the young woman.
Hinata turned to see a blond man running up to her. “Naruto Kun?”
“Hiya! Happy New Years!” The man flashed her a large toothy grin. “Nice Kimono. Who gave it to you?”
--Flashback- -
A fourteen year old Hinata stood in the now crowded streets of Konoha. Her eyes looked at every store windows in excitement.
“Hey there Hinata!” A young boy her age yelled happily as he ran up to her. “Bark! Bark!” a small white dog ran along side the boy barking to her his greetings.
“H-hi…Kiba k-kun and Akamaru” she stuttered looking up at the brunet scruffy haired boy standing at her side grinning at her.
He laughed and nodded. “Happy New Years to you Hinata!”
“Woof!” Akamaru barked happily.
“T-thank you.” She smiled at Akamaru and Kiba.
“Woof! Bark!” Akamaru looked up at his master.
“Oh that's right! Thanks for telling me before I forgot little buddy!” Kiba smiled as he bent down and patted his puppy gently on the forehead.
“This is from me.” Kiba straightened back up and dug into a large bag he was carrying. “a New Years gift I bought.” He handed her a blue kimono that he pulled from the bag.
“Woof!” Akamaru made a disappointed face at his master and growled.
“Alright, alright.” Kiba scratched the back of his neck. “Actually it's from me and Akamaru but I bought it!”
She giggled. “T-thanks.” She took the kimono and blushed a deep crimson.
-- End of Flashback- -
Hinata looked into the man's blue eyes and slowly replied “Kiba.”
Naruto fell silent. “Oh.” He silently whispered. “I'm sorry.” He waved goodbye to her.
“Don't b-be sorry.” Hinata muttered under her breath.
It wasn't anyone's fault for not knowing who gave her the kimono. It wasn't anybodies fault that Kiba's name caused her pain. His death meant a lot to her. Nobody knew that but Akamaru. But Akamaru was a something. Kiba died during an ANBU mission against the evil snares of war. Sadly, several Akatsuki members ambushed him. Unable to fight them off Kiba was murdered. Three weeks ago one of the ANBU ninjas brought his dead body back to the village.
Hinata walked onward to a small Yamanaka flower shop. She narrowed her eyes and heaved a sigh.
“May I be of any help to you?” A woman with soft blond hair and sparkling blue eyes asked as she gently laid a hand on Hinata's shoulder.
-- Flashback--
Hinata, now in preteens, lay bent over sniffing a small delicate flower. “I w-wonder what kind o-of flower this is.” She thought aloud.
“It's a Yamanka flower.” Kiba's voice said from behind her.
“I-it is? W-wow it's pretty!” she gasped looking at the flower more closely.
“Yeah it is isn't it?.” Kiba smiled and in a attempt to take a whiff of the same flower accidentally rammed his head into Hinata's.
“Ow.” She moaned rubbing her forehead.
“I'm sorry.” Kiba extended a hand to help her up.
“I-its okay.” Hinata smiled at him.
“No it is not okay.” Kiba put on a stern face. He turned on his heels and walked up to a woman who was selling the flowers. He came back with three of the Yamanka flowers. “Now it's okay.” He said handing her the flowers.
- End of flashback--
“No it's o-okay. T-thank you though.” Hinata turned to face the familiar woman.
“Hinata!!!” the woman squalled upon seeing her face. “How have you been?” The woman hugged Hinata lightly. “Me and Shika are now married!” she flashed her ring for Hinata to see.
Hinata gave a fake smile. “T-that's great…Ino it r-really is. H-how have I b-been…not so s-swell.”
Ino paled. “Oh dear, I'm so sorry…here take some free flowers!” Ino in attempt to make Hinata feel better handed her a small bouquet.
Hinata said her goodbyes to Ino and continued to walk down the busy streets. Out of the corner of her eye Hinata saw a man with pineapple shaped forehead come out of the flower shop. Spotting Hinata in the distance the man heaved a low sigh.
“How bothersome finding out in such a terrible way…” The man wrapped his arms around Ino and pulled her into a hug. “ I'm glad we still have each other no matter how troublesome you are.”
Ino nodded to the man. “Shikamaru, it wasn't bothersome it was sad and depressing. You knew that when you saw Choji immerged with Kiba's limp body. You felt the sting of pain when you knew that you lost a companion, friend, and comrade.”
Shikamaru nodded in a knowing manner. “Yes but, my pain, is not even a fraction compared to her sorrow.”
Hinata shook her head. She knew they meant her no harm by saying his name or brining back her memories. Hinata paused at the small ninja academy she and Kiba once attended together.
- Flash Back- -
A small Hinata stared up at the large school doors with amazement. She took a big breath as she tried to push open the doors.
“ Here let me help.” A young boy with red paint on his cheeks and a small white puppy in his jacket said smiling at her. “All together now one, two, three, PUSH!” the boy laced his hands on the door along side her own and shoved all his weight against the door.
She gasped as the door finally opened. “Wahh!” She tripped on her shoelace as she attempted to get through the door. She fell forward knocking the boy to the ground.
“Ouch.” The boy moaned ruffling his hair.
“I-I'm sorry.” She flushed as she slowly got off him.
“It's okay really.” He laughed showing her his pointy teeth. “Akamaru and I are fine.” He stood up and dusted himself off.
“Bark!” the dog that lay in his jacket made a face of happiness.
She nodded and smiled softly back at him. “O-okay.”
“Oh by the way names Kiba! Inuzuka Kiba! And this dog is my best friend. His names Akamaru.” The boy extended his hand in greeting.
“H-hi. H-Hinata is m-my name.” She took his hand and shook it. “P-pleasure meeting you too Akamaru.” She patted the puppy's head gently.
-- End Of Flashback- -
Hinata heaved a heavy sigh and looked away from the small school. She moved on to the next building. The Hokage's building. She opened up the glass doors and entered the rather large building. Older ninjas of high ranks rushed around the room filling papers, talking, and taking care of business.
Flashback
Hinata walked in along side Kiba as the entered the building.
“I can't believe we made it.” He chirped gleefully.
She simply nodded. They trained for six years together, not counting academy days of course. Now Kiba moved on to a high rank. He was to become a protector of the people, a ANBU. While Hinata would stay behind to take up the medical field of study.
“Wow never thought I'd make it this far.” He flexed his muscles laughing.
She nodded. “I k-knew you would.”
“Ha! Well it's good to know one person knew I would. My sister and mother doubted me. That's lets see.” He placed a finger on his chin in thought. “twenty bucks for me.”
She giggled and nodded. “T-they bet y-you?”
He nodded. “Yep. And they lost, didn't they Akamaru?”
His dog looked up at him and barked as if to say yes.
End of Flashback
“Hey there Hinata…you're here for the `papers' right?” Hinata turned to face a rather plump man with a clipboard in his hand.
“Y-yes Choji t-thank you.” She took some medical scrolls from the man. “Well… I'll be seeing you then.” The plump man gave her a small smile and a wave before going to another room.
She sighed and turned on her heels leaving the building. She walked along the pathway till she reached a small booth with a sales lady behind it selling all sorts of weaponry. Hinata gave a side ways glance that the weapons before moving on. She trudged onward till she came upon a small pond on the outskirts of the village. She gingerly watched two clad figures sparring along side the waters edge their reflection appeared on the ripples.
- Flashback- -
Hinata, now thirteen, was put on a team a year ago. Her team consisted of Kiba, her best friend, Shino, a silent boy, and her sensei Kurenai. Shino and Kurenai had gone off to fetch a training tool and a bottle of sake for them and Tsunade, their Hokage. This left her and Kiba alone.
Kiba lay spawled out on the green grass staring at the clear blue water. Akamaru his dog lay next to him eye the water as it rippled.
“Hey.” Kiba shot up to a sitting position and looked over at Hinata. “Since we are all alone and stuff…” He scratched the back of his neck. “You wanna train?”
Hinata nodded. “O-okay.”
Kiba stood up and looked down at the now ready Akamaru. “Ready Hinata?” He called out cracking his knuckles.
Hinata simply nodded and the fight commenced. She instantly used her special while Kiba did the double trick with Akamaru. The fight went on for hours until their chakra had run low and were left with only being able to clash with the metal of their kunais.
“Ha! Got you!” Kiba yelled.
Hinata caught off guard by the sudden swipe of Kiba's pointy weapon fell backwards and into the pond. She tried to scream but water filled her lungs. Minutes went and she found herself on land with a panting and soaked Kiba by her side.
“Glad you're alive.” He smiled toothily at her. “Sorry bout' that.” He laughed nervously.
End Of Flashback
Hinata smiled at the lake and wiped away a small tear that formed as she remembered the times they shared. “I miss you Kiba. I would be glad if I meet you in heaven.” She sniffed. “I loved you Kiba. Y-Your company, smile, and kind words. I just realized how m-much I loved you a minute to late.” She looked up at the sky as it began to pour down rain. “Kiba…I k-know you heard me. Y-your crying…a-along side me a-aren't you?”
