Chapter Two

Two months.

Two months it had been since Akatsuki had blipped off the map.

Two months it had been since Gaara had been recovering in Konoha, and it was today he was to return back to Suna, we're his duty as the Kazekage was needed. Accompanying him back as some type of consort in case they were pulled up, was none other then Hyuuga Hinata, the heiress of the Hyuuga compound. Like Hinata, Gaara despised her family because of their ridicule towards her; it reminded him of what his past was like. But wasn't that the life of Jinchuuriki? The life of loneliness and betrayal. The life of someone who had a monster implanted in them without permission. Gaara glared at a passing log he'd jumped off from and came to glide next to Hinata. At least being near her like this would calm him some.

"Gaara-sama, a-are you ok?." Hinata asked, blushing as she did.

With a straight face and without looking at her Gaara nodded, "It's Gaara to you Hinata." He said.

Hinata's face turned even brighter, "H-hai Gaara and arigatou."

Gaara reframed from strangling her. He couldn't stress it enough with this girl. He'd told her to stop saying thank you, to stop saying sorry, and would she listen. Obviously from the way she blushed whenever someone spoke to her, she didn't. He sighed when they came across a small lake and decided to landed, not to camp, but basically to clear his mind of everything. Being around Hinata always gave him a migraine, not a painful one, but one he didn't like.

"Gaara, are y-you hungry o-or anything? I-i could go and g-gather some f-food if you like." She said, trying desperately hard not to studder around him.

Gaara ignored her, tired of her studdering and blushing, and without another thought pulled her down with him to relax. Hinata 'eeped' on the way down and nearly fainted when Gaara's arms wrapped gently and possessively around her waist. She'd never been this close to anyone in her life, let alone this intimate. If anyone asked her if she were with any man, that answer would come out easily. Relaxing alittle in her awkward predicament, Hinata snuggled into him more, noticing how he tightened his hold on her.

"Why does he do it?." Gaara asked in a low voice, "Why does he fight for those precious to him?."

Hinata didn't realise until after she responded that she'd said, "Because he was never precious to anyone." Gaara rested his chin on her head at that.

"If I'm precious to him, then he is precious to me..." Gaara paused and took one of Hinata's shaky hands, "....as well as you, Hinata."

Hinata's white orbs grew wide when she felt warm lips ever so gently kiss her hand; it was enough to make her shudder at the contact. 'W-what is he doing?.' She wondered when his tongue came out to caress the softer part of her hand, and then it moved to flicker at her pale knuckles. Gaara lowered her hand slowly, satisfied when she wasn't blushing, but was instead fighting back the heat that rose from her body. He took advantage of this and pulled her harder against him, giving him better access to her exposed neck which went red with need. He had to fight the urge to rip her apart then and there, what with her pale flesh against his lips, including that intoxicating scent she gave off, the scent of lilies and noticeable arousal.

"So pure...” He whispered fiercely, "...yet tainted."

Hinata angled her head to the side, allowing him to go further down. 'Why do i feel this way?.' She asked herself when she felt another spark of sensation run down her spine. The hand that grew accustomed to her hip now moved, and where it landed made Hinata yelp. Without warning the hand that landed on her covered breast squeezed, making Hinata jump from her spot and bang her head accidentally against Gaara's nose.

"Fuck." He muttered, removing his hand so it could rub at his nose.

Hinata crawled out of his grasp and bit her lip, "S-sorry Gaara, i-i didn't mean to." She said looking down at the ground.

Gaara ignored the sore appendage to see her saddened expression, then with a flick of his fingers, a hand of sand grabbed her and brought her back to him. He snuggled her with affection once she landed in her lap and decided to ignore the heat his body received when he touched her. So pure was she in his arms. He could never think of a time when he was so content and calm. If Shukaku would see him now, the racoon would finally realise that he was at peace; no more would he have to kill mercilessly. No more was Sabaku no Gaara lonely, because for once in his life he could share himself with someone who could understand his pain, someone who also had to bare his shame and horror, someone like Naruto, Kiba, Akamara, especially Hyuuga Hinata. All Jinchuuriki like himself.

"Umm...G-gaara.." Hinata murmured softly.

He looked down slowly, noticing how her lips quivered as he stared at them, "We are one in the same Hinata, do you regret falling into my arms?." He queried.

The look on Hinata's shocked face was priceless, "I-i...no...I mean..w-well...-"

Gaara raised his arm. "Sabaku kyuu." From the change of Gaara's voice and stern look, Hinata knew that whoever Gaara had trapped within his [Desert Coffin] was an enemy. Without having to move from his grasp, Hinata's eyes changed, crinkling from the sides to reveal her Byakugan. Using her now whitened vision to see through the thickly leaved forest, she was able to see who it was that Gaara was holding prisoner. Her eyes never wavered when she saw how much pain Gaara was giving the poor man.

"From the symbol on his forehead protector, he's from the Hidden Rain Village." She said willing herself to continue watching the staggering scene.

Gaara smirked, "I was always fond of the rain, it brings back memories." He said with a darkened expression.

Hinata shook her head hurriedly and her Byakugan deactivated, "Please don't kill him Gaara, maybe he was passing by."

'She didn't studder.' He thought intrigued "Yet what she is asking is futile, she knows i will kill him despite his intentions being good or bad.'

"Please..." She whispered anxiously, "..please don't kill him, if he had provoked you then i would've forgiven you, but don't do it out of pure bloodlust, it only goes to show how much of a..-"

Gaara growled, "How much of a monster i am." He finished for her.

Hinata gasped, "No, how much of Shukaku's influence has had on you."

Their was a distant scream, then the awful sound of a snap. It was then that Hinata shuffled away from Gaara; and as much as he tried to see her eyes, they seemed to be shadowed and hidden. Hinata drifted away from him, hoping that if she were able to get far enough, that he wouldn't see the tears that threatened to fall. Once upon a time Hinata might've loved the thought of killing, but that was a very long time ago, a time when she had killed because instinct, including the beast within her, made her do it. Now as a respected genin like many of her other friends, Hinata protected and would only consider killing when her life or someone close to her was in danger. Not when she felt like it, a bad habit which Gaara would never release.

"I can't go with you...” She said turning her back to him, "...just now you showed me how capable you are of looking after yourself, so until next time old friend."

She started walking, not bothering to look back, and took in a deep breath when she felt those wistful arms of his snake around her. She stood unmoved, then turned, bringing both their chests together painfully hard, enough so that it would stun him. When she was sure he was unable to react to her bold move, Hinata raised her hand, bringing it down crack against his cheek.

"Release me." She hissed, her milky white eyes now glistening red with anger.

The blow was enough to make Shukaku's demonic eyes challenge her own, "You seem tense...” He paused giving her a crazed smile, "...why don't we do something about it?."

Before either realised what was happening, Hinata was lying on the ground with a disturbingly unstable Gaara on top of her. With both her hands held above her head and her legs spread eagle wide for Gaara's hips to settle between, Hinata knew she was in a sticky situation. For one, Gaara's harsh breathing against her ear wasn't normal, two, his body grew hard and tauntingly hot to her senses, and three, number three of all of them, she was getting highly aroused by this rough side of him. Just knowing she had this type of hold on him had her biting her lip to stop the victorious moan from escaping. The irony of being beneath him was unsettling itself. A warm tongue. His tongue which started to caress her neck had Hinata sighing in complete bliss.

"Gaara." She whined, "Gaara I'm not mad at you anymore, stop."

Gaara nipped at her bare flesh, causing Hinata to giggle, "Kuso, why do you take everything so lightly." He muttered.

"Because i know you'd never hurt me." She stated matter-of-factly.

"Be careful what you say Hinata." He said glaring at her. Hinata gulped. "I could easily take what you unknowingly have offered."

Silence brewed around them. His words cut deep, alerting the female in her that what Gaara said was true. Friend or not, if he so desired, he could take her for himself, permission or no permission. Having sensed Hinata's discomfort and obvious fear, Gaara slowly stood, bringing her up as well with the help of his sand.

"Go." He said turning away from her.

Hinata dusted herself off and nodded with sad understanding. This hidden message meaning: Next time he won't hesitate, he will take what he most desires and break it.

"Be careful, Gaara-kun." She said disappearing from his shocking eyes.

'She called me Gaara-kun.' He thought staring into the open-space where she had once stood. 'Hinata.'

Back in Konoha...

After the incident with Akatsuki, she didn't know how she'd be able to communicate with Naruto again. The eyes she remembered seeing in that cave, it was enough to give her nightmares that tore her up so badly, she had to get Ino and TenTen to sleep over her house. Yes, Haruno Sakura was scared, frightened, but even though these emotions pushed her to avoid Naruto, it didn't stop her team mate from visiting, dropping of apology letters and flowers; hell the poor bloke even mentioned giving up ramen if that mean't her at least acknowledging him.

Was she really afraid of the one guy who actually treated her right? Despite having the Kyuubi inside of him?

"Comeon Sakura, i think it's time you got out of here." Ino said, "No one's seen Naruto in two weeks, so i doubt he'll try to maul you."

Sakura's heart stop beating, "Nani! Why didn't you tell me sooner Ino?." She growled jumping out from under her covers.

Ino sweat-dropped, "It wasn't like you were going to talk to him...” She then shrugged her shoulders carelessly, "...besides, you made it painfully clear that you didn't want anything to do with him."

Flashback

"Hey Sakura-Chan, i hope i didn't scare you yesterday." Naruto said with a nervous smile on his face.

Sakura flinched. At the time she didn't know how to react to him, especially after she saw what Naruto was really capable of doing. She was afraid to see that side again, and if she did it would most likely be because of her. She could just picture herself making him extremely angry, then by doing that would result in a quick and subtle death by her last remaining team-mate...it was clear to her when she looked at him with fright, Haruno Sakura did not want to die, she did not want to hang around someone like him, she did not want to know him.

"I don't know you anymore Naruto, what i saw the other day was beyond frightening..." She whispered looking into his eyes and what she saw pained her.

"It was monstrous huh?..." He gave her a weak smile, "...I understand you completely Sakura, who would wanna be friends with a monster?." He laughed, a fake one but he somehow pulled it off, "Well, at least i can say i 'was' your friend right?."

Sakura bit back her tears, "Naruto." She thought as she watched his retrieving back.

"See you around Sakura." And with that Uzumaki Naruto had walked out of her life, leaving behind what looked like a trail of tears as he disappeared a final time.

"Goodbye, Sakura." He sadly whispered.

End of Flashback

Sakura raced through all of Konoha, including going to Naruto's favourite store. When no sign of him was there, she took the measures of jumping on roof-tops, hoping to spot any form of orange. To no help did she find any sign of orange, and with her hope slowly fading, Sakura's motives began to wither and wither until she finally had to rest from all her running. Tears were the first things that showed her pain, then the slackening of her body, and lastly, the aching pain she was getting from her heart. She collapsed to her knees suddenly, holding her hands to her eyes with torn emotions. Unaware to the broken-hearted pink-haired genin, two shadows were coming closer to her, until they were but a few metres behind.

"Cheer up Sakura; he'll come back once he's put himself together again." The voice said.

Sakura sniffed and looked up, "Kiba?." She wondered.

The dog boy kneeled down to her and smiled, "Well there's only one of me Sakura, besides, who could pull off my trademark looks and devilish charm?."

Sakura giggled alittle, "Did he say why he left?." She asked.

"I think you know why." He said adding a pat to her shoulder.

Akamaru barked and curled up next to her, telling Kiba telepathically that this was his way of comfort. Sakura fingered Akamaru's coat, then without another thought buried her head in his soft fur coat, and bawled her eyes out. Kiba looked upon her form sadly and started rubbing her back.

"You've known Naruto for so many years now Sakura and not once has he harmed you." He said, "Now because of what you saw in that cave, you think he'll hurt you, correct?

Sakura simply nodded and Kiba continued, "Look, Naruto is different amongst the rest of us. Sure he has a demon inside of him, but he only uses that demon when someone he cares for is in terrible danger, take Gaara for example."

"I know Kiba but...-"

Kiba cut her off, "You of all people should've been there for him Sakura, and after all you are his crush...” Kiba then looked to the ground, "...if his feelings for you were to vanish however, i can only hope that you would pull through as well."

Sakura's eyes widened, "B-but, i don't want his feelings for me to vanish."

"I'm not being cruel when i say this Sakura, but you should've thought of that before you let's say...secretly told him what a monster he was."

Sakura lowered her gaze to the ground, "Does that mean I've lost him?." She asked, not bothering to look up when there was a sound of a 'poof'.

"Not yet you haven't...unless you still think I'm a monster?."

Naruto.

Sakura looked up instantly, and without another thought jumped into his arms with careful affection and love. The blonde-haired rubbed her back in circular motions, smiling to himself when he realised his simple brain had come up with the idea to act as Kiba and confront her. Who would've thought she would return his love? With his beating heart racing alongside hers, Naruto tilted Sakura's chin back and kissed her gently on the lips.

"I love you Naruto-kun." Sakura whispered anxiously yet shyly.

Naruto smiled down at his pink-haired vixen, "I love you too, Sakura." He replied.

The End
(AN: This only took me a good twenty minutes to write, i haven't bothered to edit it and i haven't the slightest clue if it makes sense or not. Im following through with my gut).
