Chapter One: Midnight Awakening

A loud thud sounded just outside of the window beside Amaya’s head causing

her to sit up grunting in disorientation. At first she thought it was just the wind but when

the noise sounded again and she glanced out the window she saw a man standing

there. Yelping in surprise she reached over shaking her friend roughly by the shoulder.

In the time it took for Christianne to come around the man who was followed by several

others had already slipped through the window and stood on her bed looking down at

the two girls.

“I need you to be silent,” he said tersely, “your mother and father have been

knocked out with sleeping smoke and will not wake up to save you. If you come quietly

we will allow them to live do you understand?” The girls looked at the man with wide

eyes and nodded slowly though their mouths were still hanging open in shock. “Well get

a move on then,” he snapped when they only continued to stare. The girls started into

motion and began getting dressed, blushing just slightly since they were aware of the

human eyes on them. Around other Preternaturals they would have been fine changing

wether they were male or female. But humans were always so different you just never

know how they were going to react. When they were finished they snatched two bags

from under the bed, one that held their equipment and an empty one. They packed

some clothes as well as their game boys and games discreetly while wondering what

the hell was going on. Must be some kinda human raid on the house Aya thought as

she and Christie gathered their stuff. Positive that all this could be straightened out in

the morning the girls didn’t put up a fight and exited the window with the men. Aya was
impressed that humans could move so fast through tree tops while carrying others. The

last thought she had before she fell asleep however was why the humans were using

tree tops at all. The next morning Aya woke up looking around her room and frowning.

What a weird ass dream she thought as she scented the air to see if she could smell

breakfast. When a new series of smells assailed her nose however she leaped out of

bed pushing Christie on the floor as she went. Her friend woke up with a grunt the

minute her head hit the floor. Christie sat up rubbing her head gently while she scowled

at Aya.

“He watch what you’re doing,” Christie complained as she slowly got to her feet.

“Shut up,” Aya snarled at her, her fangs making the face worse as she took in the

fact that they weren’t wearing pjs but regular clothes.

“Aya what’s your problem?” Christie demanded before she realized that their

clothes weren’t the same as what they’d put on for bed as well. “Those men must have

brought us here last ni-,” Christie began but was cut off by a hand over her mouth. She

was just about to tell Aya off when she heard the footsteps approaching and wisely kept

her mouth shut. They stayed just as they were and when the door opened that was just

how the man standing on the other side of it found them. For a moment the three of

them simply stood staring at each other as if they were different species; which they

were. The man was around five feet ten inches tall with dark brown hair tied up in a

short ponytail on top of his head. The eyes that stared at them were black and kind if

not a little surprised. He wore a dark blue shirt with a red patch on the upper arm that

they could see and a green vest over it. Around his head was a silver headband with a

weird picture of a leaf on it that was tied with blue cloth behind his head. Aya and

Christie were both wearing dark blue jeans and shirts. Aya’s was silver and said

‘Hybrids are Finicky’ while Christie’s shirt was pale blue and said “Werewolves Always

Have A Howling Good Time”. After a moment longer of staring the man cleared his

throat and stepped further into the room.

“Good morning,” he said, “my name is Umino Iruka but you may call me

Iruka-Sensei. I’ve come to collect you for class.” For a minute Aya only stared at the

man dumbfounded but Christie found her voice first.

“What do you mean class,” she said frowning, “it’s summer and classes are over

until fall.”

“Oh I see,” Iruka-Sensei said nodding. “Well while in Konoha you’ll find that

school is year round. (Yeah I don’t know this for sure but since this is my fic its my call

lol.) This is the beginning of the year and if you’re late I’ll have to skin you alive. He

frowned down at them seriously and the girls gaped in surprise.

“What the hell is a Konoha?” Aya demanded.

“It’s the Village Hidden in the Leaves,” he said pointing at the leaf on his head

band. “A ninja village. I figured the men you left with last night would have explained all

this. You are here to become ninja’s are you not?” The girls paused for a moment and

stared at the man dumbfounded once more. When he realized they knew nothing he

sighed shaking his head. “Well your ignorance can’t be helped now,” he said after a

moment, “so why don’t we get to class and after school I can explain a few things to

you?” After closing their mouths the girls thought on this before nodding slowly.

“Ok that sounds fair,” Christie said slowly.

“Good,” Iruka said smiling before he turned on his heels and left the girls to follow

him. After a quick look around they located their shoes and jammed them on their feet

before rushing out to catch up with the strange teacher. After a few minutes of walking

once they’d left the building which was pretty large and looked like apartments they

came to what Aya assumed was a school with a small playground out front. They

followed Iruka inside and into a large classroom where the seats were set in raised rows

like a gym but with long desks that the rows shared. Iruka directed them to seats away

from each other and had them stand while he introduced them.

“This is Dark, Amaya-San and Jacobson, Christianne-San,” Iruka said smiling at

the class, “they came from the outside and are going to be living here while they have

their training.” After everyone had said hello and Aya and Christie had taken their seats

they wondered how the hell they were supposed to live here in this strange place

without money, or food, or hell their parents. Putting it out of her mind however Aya

tuned out the teacher and glanced around the classroom at her bandana-less

classmates. A boy in an orange jacket or shirt she couldn’t decide which, caught her

eye and she wondered briefly if he knew how much of an eyesore he made in those

clothes. Though she couldn’t tell how tall he was she did take note that he had bright

blonde hair and bright blue eyes and was pretty cute. The boy beside him was also

worth a look she thought as he was cute too. He wore a dark blue shirt which was all

she could see of him around the other boy. His hair was black and cut in a cool style

she assumed and when he turned to look at her his eyes were black as well and cold.

Pain in the ass she figured as she turned her head back around realizing that the

teacher was finally starting the lesson. She borrowed a few sheets of paper and a pencil

from the girl beside her who had long, surprisingly light pink hair and pale green eyes.

The girl she noted also wore a red dress, she figured and said her name was Haruno,

Sakura. After thanking Sakura for the paper she ignored everything and began taking

notes. After five hours of note taking the class was asked to wait until their names were

called and then they would walk up to the front of the class and produce what the

teacher call chakra. Wait so they had to actually do this crap. Aya was about to raise

her hand when she thought what the hell and decided to give it a try for fun. When it

was her turn she moved slowly out of her aisle and made her way down the stairs to the

front of the class. Standing in front of the class she wondered briefly if she shouldn’t

have just bowed out of this but instead she made the had sign and concentrated for a

moment. She felt it then, warm light caressing her skin. Smiling she turned to look at her

teacher and was a bit taken back by the look of surprise on his face. In confusion she

turned the way he had pointed toward a mirror. She realized that a golden light was

surrounding her mixing ever-so-often with crimson streaks. But that wasn’t what had

here blushing however. What had was the fact that her eyes had turned golden with

crimson pupils and her shiny black angle wings were folded against her back. Grinning

sheepishly so that the tips of her fangs were probably visible she turned back to the

class and willed the wings away while closing her eyes so that no one could see them

turn back to what they normally were. When she stood there after she was done the

teacher continued to stare for a moment before he began clapping and the class

followed.

“Very nicely done Amaya-San,” he said approvingly before allowing the girl to go

back to her seat. After sitting down Aya watched the lesson continue with little interest

until it was Christie’s turn. When she finally went up Aya nodded her encouragement

and watched as her friend closed her eyes beginning to focus. Amaya watched the air

waver around her as she concentrated and briefly she wondered if everyone else could

see it too. Turning she noticed how wide everyone’s eyes were and figured that yes

they could see what was happening. Turning back to continue watching Aya wondered

what color Christie’s chakra would be. Then she saw it, a pale blue twisting around her

friends body as she stood in half wolf form. Aya blinked surprised because she had only

seen an alpha or really powerful Shapeshifter do what Christie had just done. Christie

stood letting her arms down slowly. She smiled brightly at Aya her longer muzzle

glistening with sharp, bright white teeth. Her arms were slightly furred and her hands

were paws with long, deadly sharp claws where the fingers had been. She’d even grown

taller too, Aya noticed, at least a foot. When Christie realized she was unnerving the

teacher however she shifted back catching herself on the desk but otherwise still

awake. Aya stood clapping after her friend straightened and everyone else followed her

bewildered. As the class continued on however, Aya noted that most people were

staring at her and Christie. She herself was staring at the boy in the orange whose

name turned out to be Uzumaki, Naruto. It was his turn to produce chakra and she saw

now that he wore an entire outfit of the eye popping color. Truly an eyesore she decided

as she watched his less than exemplary performance. He’s trying too hard she noted to

herself and wondered if she should tell him so after class. While she was contemplating

wether to be a good samaritan or not the boy who’d been sitting beside him, whose

name turned out to be Uchiha, Sasuke went up to take his turn. Followed Aya thought

with annoyance, by the gaze of almost every girl in the class. He was pretty good she

relented once the boy had showed his stuff but girls fawning all over him was something

she wished she didn’t have to see. It was a little disgusting and childish in her point of

view but then she was new so maybe the guy was really amazing and she just didn’t

know it. Shrugging at the thought she moved aside to allow Sakura to pass and

watched as the girl performed perfectly before she returned to her seat. All in all the

performances weren’t so bad, all except the boy in orange. This seemed to make Aya

feel miserably for him so she decided that after class she would tell him his issue. After

class she handed Sakura back her pencil and grabbed her notes before she stood

rushing after Naruto.

“Uzumaki-San, Uzumaki-San!” When he stopped he turned around squinting at

Aya and she smiled politely.

“Yeah what is it?” Naruto asked wondering what a girl was doing talking to him.

As she opened her mouth to tell him the problem Aya realized that several people were

staring in their direction so she shook her head and whispered the word outside. He

opened his eyes wide in surprise but turned leading the way out the doors and stopped

just outside them as everyone else continued home. “So what is it?” He asked when

Aya had finally squeezed out the door and they were standing beside each other.

“It was nothing I just wanted to tell you that you were trying too hard in class

earlier. You know if you relax and just let the power pour out rather than you trying to

drag it out it would be a lot simpler.” For a moment the boy simply stared at her in shock

but he recovered quickly.

“Why are you helping me?” He asked suddenly suspicious. Aya shrugged lightly

giving him the truth.

“Because I don’t like to see ridicule and someone being shunned when they’re

obviously trying as hard as they can to keep up with everyone else.” Once again it

seemed she had shocked the boy but again he recovered quickly grinning down at her

from his nine extra inches of height.

“Thanks for the help I appreciate it,” he said, “I’ll take your advice.”

“Your-,” Aya began when someone spoke from behind her.

“I wouldn’t waste your time if I were you,” said a voice from behind her. “Naruto is

hopeless and nothing but a trouble maker.” Aya spun on her heels to see who had

spoke and found herself face to face with Sasuke. He smirked down at her from his

eleven inches of extra height which made him taller than Aya and Naruto.

“That’s a pretty fucked up thing to say,” Aya muttered straight-off looking at the

boy with disdain. Sasuke looked at her in surprise before Christie pushed out passed

him and went to stand by her friend. She looked from each person to the other curiously

since she’d been at the back of the line of fawning girls who had stopped the instant

their Sasuke had been insulted. Finally however Christie realized that Aya must have

said something rude because of the astonished and angry faces.

“Whatever she said is probably for good reason,” Christie said smiling at

everyone only to see the faces of the girls behind Sasuke frowning even more. Christie

turned to her friend and frowned. “Aya what did you say this time?” She muttered with a

sigh.

“I told Uchiha-San that I was having an a and b conversation and that he needed

to c his way out of it,” the small silver-haired beauty said crossing her arms and arching

a brow. Christie nodded and turned to Sasuke with a small smile.

“You’ll have to forgive Aya-Chan,” Christie said shrugging lightly, “sometimes she

can’t stand to be interrupted or embarrassed and she says what’s on her mind without

sugar coating it. I’m sure you’ll all get used to it eventually.”

“We shouldn’t have to get used to it,” one of the girls said from behind Sasuke,

“she’s the one that’s new and she should learn some respect.”

“Respect has to be earned not learned,” Aya said automatically, “if a damned fool

doesn’t know that then they don’t deserve my respect.” With that said Aya turned to

Naruto who was completely wide mouthed as was Sasuke. Ignoring the latter she spoke

to the first. “Look just remember what I said or don’t,” she said with a shrug, “it’s entirely

up to you whether you get better or not.” With those parting words she lifted her hands

and locked them behind her head at the fingers. Turning so that her ponytail flew in a

long arch before settling just above her rear she walked away leaving Christie to follow.

“Aya,” her friend clucked disapprovingly, “you could have been a little nicer.”

“What for,” Aya muttered, “we’re here to study not make friends and besides I

don’t like rude ass-holes and you know it.”

“You might also like to clean up that mouth of yours,” Christie muttered in disgust

but shrugged it off knowing Aya was just being Aya. “Well what do you wanna do now?”

“Go look for a job I guess,” Aya said shrugging her shoulders without dropping

her hands. Since they were already staying Aya figured they might as well get an

income started. “What was up with the Chan thing anyway?”

“Means we’re good friends and have known each other for a long time. It also

means we consider each other equals, I think,” she said before shrugging. “Anyway the

job thing sounds good I guess,” Christie decided, “you take one side of the street and I’ll

take the other k. Aya nodded and they split up hitting what seemed like the main drag

where buildings both domestic and business spread to either side of a dirt road. The

first shop Aya went into seemed to be a flower shop which she couldn’t see happening

so she turned and strolled back out. After three more shops later she got a job at a book

store after school and was told to be there tomorrow. Thanking the man she walked out

of the shop looking up the road to see where they lived before turning to see the school.

She then turned once more to mark the place of the shop in her photographic memory.

With that done she wandered off to find Christie. Instead she found Sasuke being

followed by his usual rabble of girls she assumed but ignoring every single one of them.

When he saw her he stopped and made his way over to her with a small smirk twisting

his lips. Rolling her eyes Aya thought at first she’d ignore him and keep walking but

decided against it and stopped to wait until he stood before her.

“I wanted to apologize for interrupting your conversation earlier Dark-San,” he

said staring at Aya. She shrugged blowing out a sigh of breath as if to say whatever.

“It’s cool just remember it for future references,” Aya said before she turned to

walk away.

“Wait a minute,” Sasuke said confused but Aya didn’t stop walking only called

over her shoulder to him

“Sorry but I don’t have time to fawn over boys,” she said before facing straight.

When she found Christie she was serving meals at a ramen noodle shop and informed

her she’d gotten the job almost immediately. “Cool,” Aya said taking a seat at the

counter. “Well I got a job at the book store so I guess operation: earn money was a

success.”

“Yep,” Christie said happily. “Well I’ll see you at home and I’ll see if I can bring

home leftovers k.”

“Ok,” Aya said before getting to her feet. “If I’m asleep just wake me up so that I

can grab some food when you get home k.”

“Will do,” Christie said as she loaded up a tray. When she looked up however

Aya was gone and she was left to her work in peace.

After she went back to the apartment that she and Christie seemed stuck sharing

she sniffed around for a bit for two things. One to catch the surrounding scents so that

she wouldn’t get lost and second to get the scent of the teacher. Of course the first task

was easy enough but she took a little longer with the second. While she was still trying

to catch the teacher’s scent someone approached her from behind but instead of

stopping she continued sniffing growling softly to warn them off.

“Just what are you doing?” Said the exact same person she was looking for

though it was clear he’d stopped at the sounds of the growling well away from her.

Turning she grinned walking up to him before giving him a thorough sniffing so that she

would be able to find him later if necessary.

“Sorry I was looking for you but there are entirely too many smells around here.”

“What do you mean there are too many smells around here?” Iruka asked

bewildered. Aya frowned at the teacher confused before she remembered that he was

completely human and that he only had special abilities.

“Sorry,” Aya said with a grin, “I forgot that there are nothing but humans with

special abilities here besides Christianne and myself.”

“So you’re not human then?” He asked but nodded as if he’d already known the
answer.

“No we’re not human,” Aya said with a shrug.

“What are the two of you anyway?” The Sensei asked suddenly.

“Well Christie-Chan is a full-blooded Werewolf and I’m a Hybrid.”

“A Werewolf,” Iruka said in surprise before he remembered the other species.

“Just what is a Hybrid anyway?” He asked suddenly again.

“It’s a mixture of Preternatural species’,” Aya said surprised he didn’t know, “in my case I’m a Vampire/Archangel mix.”

“Wait so you mean Vampires and Archangels are real as well as Werewolves?”

Aya stared at the man dumbfounded.

“Where the hell have you people been living anyway?” Aya demanded. “Of

course we exist. Preternaturals have been living with humans since the beginning of

time as far as I know. But according to history Preternatural stayed hidden until at least

the last twenty to thirty years when we made ourselves known to the human population.

Aren’t you supposed to be a teacher?” Aya asked suddenly veering off from her

explanation.

“Yes but this village is a hidden one so we don’t get much news from the outside

world.”

“I see,” Aya said nodding though she’d already figured as much.

“Where is your friend by the way?” Iruka asked.

“She’s working,” Aya said with a shrug, “we’ve decided to stay I guess but our

parents will have to be informed.”

“Oh that’s already taken care of,” Iruka said before reaching inside his vest and

producing a letter that reeked of Aya’s father’s scent. She snatched the letter from the
teacher at a surprising speed which left him in shock while she tore open the letter and

read it.

‘Dear Aya,

I hope you’re all right and that this letter reaches you safe. When your mother and I

woke up the next morning and found you and Christianne gone we were frantic with

worry but found the note of where you’d gone tumbled up in your covers. This is a

wonderful opportunity for you to learn something new and your mother and

Christianne’s parents agree that you can stay. But since this is the year you were

supposed to learn to hunt you must tell your teachers as they will have to teach you

themselves. Be sure to explain to them that if they do not teach you they must send you

home at once. Because without learning this knowledge you may not be able to survive

on simply food alone. We love you both and wish you the best with all your training.’

Aya looked up at Iruka and frowned.

“My father says you have to teach me to hunt,” she said handing him the letter.

Iruka read the contents before looking up at her in surprise.

“I don’t think this was anticipated,” he said with a sigh, “but there are animals in

the forests surrounding the village so I suppose we can teach you to hunt starting

tomorrow along with your ninja training.”

“That’s fine,” Aya said with a shrug, “but you should also worry about when the

next full moon is.”

“Why?” Iruka asked frowning.

“Because when I change you’ll want me in a place I can hunt so that I don’t kill

and feast on someone,” Christie said walking up to Iruka and Aya with a small smirk

twisting her lips. “I’ve been hunting since I was very young but in a strange new place I

might not know where food is readily available and just kill someone at random.” Iruka

spun around on his heels to look at the other girl in surprise before he nodded.

“I’ll have to tell Hokage-Sama about this,” he said at length. “But since you’ve

decided to stay I’ll can tell him that as well. I expect you in class tomorrow morning and

I’ll see you then. These are yours by the way,” he said handing them two keys and key

chains. With that Iruka was gone in a puff of smoke and the girls were left staring

dumbfounded at the place he’d just been. A sniff of the air told them he’d gone right and

satisfied with that they went inside to take a bath and put on some pjs.

“Well at least they have running water,” Aya said after she came out of the

bathroom. “Oh by the way they got in touch with our parents and they said that this was

a good opportunity so they know we’re safe.” Christie nodded gathering her stuff and

went to take her bath. After putting her stuff away Aya stood in the middle of the room

practicing her chakra calling, stopping when she’d finally called it and not the wings to

go along with it. Well that’s something Aya thought as she did this three more times

before crawling into bed. In the morning she woke beside Christie and nudged the girl

as she got out of bed yawning.

“Wasswong,” Christie mumbled sleepily as she tried to force her eyes open.

“School,” Aya mumbled as she stumbled into the bathroom to wash her face and

brush her teeth. After they got dressed in a fresh pair of t-shirts and a sweater they

stumbled out of the house locking the door behind them and each taking a key they’d

received last night. After stopping to get some breakfast at the place Christie worked

and telling her boss that he could take it out of her pay check they hurried to school

making it to their seats just as Iruka walked into the room. Once again Aya borrowed a

pencil from Sakura and using the paper from yesterday she promised herself she’d buy

some school supplies with her first pay check. The lesson continued much as it had

yesterday with notes being taken and chakra being called in front of the class. Aya

noted with satisfaction that Naruto had taken her advice and called his chakra much

more easily today. Well at least he listens she mused. After class she and Christie

hurried to their respective jobs.

“Do you think I can get some supplies for school and you can take it out of my

check?” Aya asked her boss as she donned a white apron for work.

“Sure just write down what you’re taking and leave the list on my desk before you

take what you need.” With a nod Aya worked through the afternoon serving patrons and

before she headed home she wrote out the list with prices like she’d been asked before

she took four note books, and several pencils for her and Christie. After totaling up her

purchases she left the list on her bosses desk and went home. When she got there she

noticed Christie still wasn’t there so she took a bath and heated up the food Christie had

bought from work the other night. While she ate at the table in the kitchen she

transcribed her notes into her notebooks splitting up ninja training and history between

them. Just as she was finishing up her notes she heard the door open.

“Christie-Chan is that you?” She called as she finished her notes and closed her

notebooks.

“Yeah it’s me,” Christie called back before she heard the bathroom door open

and close. After Christie had bathed she made her way to the kitchen grabbing some

food before sitting down at the table across from Aya.

“Here,” Aya said pushing two notebooks and three pencils at her friend.

“How did you get this,” Christie asked taking the notebooks and getting up to get

her own notes so that she could transfer them to the notebooks with her new pencils.

“Got an ok from the boss,” Aya said with a shrug, “he said he’ll take it out of my

paycheck.”

“Oh cool,” Christie said before she remembered and told Aya to put away the

food she’d left in the bedroom. Aya rose and did as she was told before announcing that

she was going to bed. While she was halfway to the bed she heard a knock at the door

and turned toward it opening it up.

“Iruka-Sensei,” the girl said in surprise before she remembered that he was

supposed to start teaching her to hunt. “Oh right I almost forgot,” she said laughing,

“give me a minute to change and I’ll be right back. Iruka nodded entering the apartment

and closing the door behind himself. While Aya changed he moved to the kitchen and

sat across from Christie.

“Well we know that the full-moon will be on Saturday so I’ll come and collect you

both that night and take you into the woods,” Iruka told the girl which had her looking up

with a frown.

“Huh, oh Iruka-Sensei what are you doing here?” Christie asked as she

continued eating and transcribing her notes.

“I’m here to get Amaya-San so that I can begin her training for the hunt.”

“Oh yeah,” Christie said before turning her attention back to her food and notes.

“Well that’s cool I guess I’ll see you in class and I’ll tell my boss I can’t work Saturday.”

“Sounds great,” Aya said coming into the kitchen with the excitement of a small

girl on her face. Iruka grinned standing up amused at how child-like Aya was now when

she was usually so grown-up. The two of them left moving across the field that

separated the forest from the village. Once in the trees Iruka used hand signals for Aya

to do as he did and they moved silently through the treetops. When they came upon a

small family of foxes in the forest he pointed them out and shrugged. Aya turned to him

then, grinning so that he could see the ends of her pearl white fangs. He stared in

surprise as Aya dropped soundlessly out of the tree tops and snuck around the back of

the foxes down wind. Aya grabbed one animal of the six sitting there at a time taking

just a little blood before putting them back. When she was finished she crept back

around the way she came and leapt back into the tree tops with Iruka. They backtracked

until they reached the field where they slowed to a walk and made their way across.

“I thought Vampires killed their pray,” Iruka announced after they were halfway

across.

“Well most do,” Aya admitted with a shrug, “but my father taught me to have

respect for people and animals and that if I didn’t have to kill them then don’t.” Iruka

smiled down at the girl before ruffling her hair to the sound of yelling.

“Your father sounds like a good man ad he raised a responsible daughter. I want

to thank you for helping Naruto as well. When I took him out for ramen earlier and asked

how he’d gotten better at controlling his chakra he said you’d given him some advice.

Aya shrugged.

“It was no big deal and you could have told him the same thing,” she said, “but

I’m glad you and your son are close.”

“Well actually he’s not my son,” Iruka began but Aya only shrugged again.

“You seem to be the only one who cares for him so I’d say that makes you a

dad,” she said, “but if you’d rather I not say it like that its no big deal.”

“No its not that, I just don’t think of myself as a father,” Iruka said laughing softly.

“You make a pretty good dad actually,” Aya said before turning to look at the man

while they stood in front of the apartment building. “Well Teach I guess I’ll see you

tomorrow before and after class.” Iruka nodded watching as the girl turned and walked

back into her apartment before he departed himself thinking about what she had said.

Once she’d unlocked the door Aya walked into the apartment and locked it back

behind her. Tossing her keys on top of the small stand by the door she walked to the

bathroom taking another bath before putting the pjs she’d had earlier that night back on.

Climbing into bed with Christie she pushed her friend over who promptly woke up.

“So how did it go?” Christie asked sleepily.

“It went great,” Aya said grinning in the darkness though she knew her friend

could see her. “I fed off a family of foxes and I didn’t kill even one.”

“Good for you,” Christie praised before she yawned long and loud. “Well there’s

food for breakfast and dinner so I’ll see ya in the morning.”

“Cool but you get breakfast duty,” Aya said with a grin as they turned their backs

to each other.

“Yeah, yeah,” Christie muttered before they both fell asleep. Christie woke up

first in the morning and got dressed before making her way to the kitchen to start

breakfast. “Hey Aya-Chan get up or we’ll be running again,” she called as she set the

fire on low and went to wash her face and brush her teeth. With a groan Aya opened

her eyes and dragged herself out of bed. After putting on the clothes she’d hunted in

last night since she hadn’t gotten them dirty she trudged into the now empty bathroom

and washed her face and brushed her teeth. By the time she made it to the kitchen

Christie was setting the food on the table along with glasses of water.

“I get paid Friday how bout you?” Aya asked sleepily as she ate her breakfast.

“Same here,” Christie said making quick work of her own breakfast.

“So what do you wanna do?” Christie asked as she began to wake up a little

more and eat faster. “I mean we can go grocery shopping so we don’t have to keep

eating this and burn ourselves out on it. Or we can go get some household stuff since

this place only seems to have the basics.”

“Well we’ll each get a check so how ‘bout we just do both. We can get the food

first and whatever we have left we can save some and buy household stuff with the

rest.”

“Sounds cool,” Aya said as she stood cleaning her plate and waiting for Christie

to do the same. Once the dishes were clean they left walking to school.
