Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Kakashi and Raye ❯ Chapter 3

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto does. =( What a bummer.

Just be cool, Jiraiya, she's just another lady. An absolutely gorgeous and young lady! I wish she'd help me with my research just once! But I can't worry about that now. If I don't win, how will I ever expect women to help me with my books!? I need to prove how great I am, and beating Raye is just the way to do it, yeah!

Raye concentrated, she could tell that Jiraiya's mind was swirling through different scenarios of himself winning or losing. Winning seemed like the best option, judging by the look on his face. And the googly eyes he was making at the sky told her that he thought he'd become some kind of hero that beautiful women sought after day and night.

`Hurry-up and stop day dreaming already, Jiraiya. Let's start the match!' Raye had been waiting for the village to gather in the great stadium for close to an hour now, and was growing impatient with Jiraiya's face. Tsunade clearly felt the same way.
`Oh c'mon Jiraiya, wake up, it'll be over before it starts if you're like this the whole 2 seconds.' Jiraiya seemed to snap out of his thoughts and pay attention to reality for a few moments; just to express his thoughts.
`Tsunade, you and I both know that this is an unfair fight; so stop worrying!'
`Funny you mention that, Jiraiya, maybe I should've had Raye fight Orochimaru and Kabuto, that would be a more accurate test of her skill, but they might do a little more damage than just the two of you.' Tsunade taunted him with pure pleasure, knowing that he wouldn't insult nor attack the Hokage in front of the entire village. Shizune just covered her face with her hand and stayed quiet. She no longer bothered to get involved when Tsunade needed to make fun of people.
`Are you trying to tell me something, Lady Hokage?'
`Why yes I am, Master Jiraiya.'
`And?'
`And I'm worried that if you don't watch what you're doing Raye is going to tear you up into little pieces and feed you to her tigers. You still haven't seen the brunt of her power, but before we lost her, no-one would dare to make such comments if they wanted all of their limbs attached and working in one piece.'
`You're just hyping her up so that I'll get psyched out, and then this fight will be a complete let down when she can't live up to your talk.'
`Just think about what I said, oh wise “Mountain Toad Sage”.'
`Hey that's….' Even he knew when he was beaten, and didn't bother finishing his sentence. She was oblivious to him, and it would be a waste of breathe. Tsunade addressed the now gathered crowd.
`Everyone; by now you must all know of Miss Raye's return to the village. She has served us well with great loyalty in the past, the title I now hold being her promised position after the unfortunate; yet sadly beneficial fall of her great father, the Fourth Hokage. It's true that Raye was to be the Fifth Hokage, but during the war against the Land of Lightning ten years ago, Raye was tricked through her heart and taken prisoner. Whilst in the Cloud ninja's possession, Raye was tortured, cruelly beaten and almost starved for information, which she refused to part with. For this we owe her thanks, which shall be expressed today by giving her the opportunity to regain her leadership over the ANBU black-ops, a position which was never filled. If she can defeat Master Jiraiya, one of the three legendary sannin, she will fulfill the requirements of showing her competent endurance and strength.' The crowd cheered, the men leering at Raye, women willing her to beat the perverted old man, others simply there to enjoy the fight or study to expert strategists. Even Shikamaru was showing interest.
`Alright now, you two. You can begin anytime you like after I say so. This match is not to the death, I will declare the winner when necessary, unless the obvious loser has been knocked unconscious. Any jutsu and any ninja weaponry are allowed. No outside interference is permitted, and will result in the match simply being postponed. The one responsible for interfering will answer to me. No assistance may be given to the competitors, however, cheering is allowed.' Tsunade turned her back to the audience. In her loudest voice possible, she bellowed,
`Miss Raye; honorable daughter of the Fourth Hokage, the most powerful and successful kunoichi this village has ever seen, Master Jiraiya, the mountain toad sage; one of the three legendary sannin, in just a moment, you may commence this match!' Everyone whispered in hushed tones. The fighting hadn't even started yet, and already there was immense tension amongst the people of Konoha. Anko was watching with disapproval.
`BEGIN!' There was a light whooshing sound, and everyone looked around; confused. Just as Tsunade had said begin, the two had disappeared.
`Hey, Kakashi sensei! Where'd they go?' Sakura asked eagerly. She couldn't make out anything in the arena, and wondered what Kakashi's sharingan had seen.

But how can they…that's impossible! No-one is that fast! Not even my sharingan can pick it up clearly! I guess the only ones who can see this match until they slow down are Kakashi and the Hyuga's.

Even though Kakashi's sharingan eye was not his own, it was still much more developed than Sasuke's, with Kakashi having as much control over it as possible. At least, as far as predicting jutsu and simple Gekkei Genkai goes. But what Itachi could do with his Mangekyo Sharingan had nearly killed Kakashi, and the fact that he was not of the Uchiha bloodline prevented counters to these attacks.

Raye could faintly see Jiraiya slowing down already. He was getting old, but even he wouldn't lose speed so quickly. He was preparing to attack. She could feel his chakra still moving rapidly, so she guessed that he was trying to put her off. A kunai was coming at full speed towards Raye, but she didn't dodge it. It was just an illusion, meant to distract her from the rise of his chakra while he summoned a proper attack. She let it hit her, and saw Jiraiya's confusion as he stopped in the centre of the arena. Raye stopped too, perched in front of the villagers. She was in no danger of falling while on the wall, and the men behind her were too busy looking to consider pushing her. Raye caught a glimpse of a bunch of women, older than herself, pushing around Kakashi. He was desperately trying to look around them, and she wasn't happy with the fact that they were trying to get his mask off. His handsome face belonged to her, and they seemed to love pulling off the layers of masks Kakashi wore in case. His eyes found hers, and he signaled for help, she giggled and leapt onto the roof above him. She sent a powerful water jutsu at Jiraiya, and everyone froze at the whirlpool she had summoned around him on dry land. Tsunade looked impressed; even she didn't know, let alone could do half of the things Raye could. Raye cloned herself, no tricks, just an average clone, and sent it out to battle with a portion of her chakra. It put up an excellent fight against Jiraiya, mainly using an evasive strategy, put every now and then striking at Jiraiya, hitting her mark every time.
The real Raye summoned a tiger and its cub. She sent to cub on a solid cloud of chakra over to the group of girls. They all left Kakashi and swarmed the sweet little fluff ball. Meanwhile, Raye cast a genjutsu over herself and the tigress; leapt down into the crowd and undid the magic on the beast. The women screamed and went running, while Kakashi just laughed, he knew that only Raye would do something so risky with so much confidence.
Raye removed the tigers from the stands and took off into the arena before her genjutsu wore off. It was only temporary. She appeared beside her clone, and extracted the chakra from within it, letting it disappear as quickly as it had come. Jiraiya couldn't help but smile. The clone had been a challenge, and kept him completely occupied, but he knew that Raye was saving Kakashi from screaming 30-year old women.

What do they see in him? Is it his mask? Maybe the books he used to read? I should try reading those sometime…wait, I WROTE THOSE NOVELS! It isn't fair!

It had been about two hours since Jiraiya had begun his assault on Raye, and still he could not hit her firmly enough to bring her down. He knew that the only real way to beat Raye without involving Kakashi was to wear out her body. For most other opponents, having them use up all of their chakra worked just as well, if better. Raye, on the other hand, had to be beaten until she could not move, and even then she wouldn't stay down, as her chakra reserves were enormous, matching that of the nine-tailed fox demon. Then, like Tsunade, she had extra chakra stored in her body by a seal that only she could open. Raye's was in her right wrist, which was forever bandaged to prevent enemies from knowing that she had more power to fight with. She had never had to release the seal in her life, and her chakra had never even got close to being used up. Jiraiya was learning this now for the first time.

How can she just keep on fighting!? I hit her with some of my best jutsu, and she barely even notices. Her capture has made her near oblivious to physical pain, after taking so much of it. I guess that means that the only way to hurt her significantly is to use a jutsu that is of great familiarity to her, and use it well.

`Raye, we both know that you could go on like this all day and night, whereas I would have passed out by dusk. So I'm asking you now, do you really want your position back that much?' Jiraiya had trouble getting the words out over his heavy breathing. Raye didn't hesitate in answering.
`Jiraiya, if I didn't truly want this position, I wouldn't be fighting you right now. Bring on whatever you can to defeat me, I won't fall and you know it.' Jiraiya felt like lying down and going to sleep. Raye was a tough opponent, her speed was incredible, her strength and skill unmatched. Her movements were swift and deadly, and every time she stuck Jiraiya she could feel him starting to crumble beneath her force.

I can't hold back any longer. Raye will have me beaten soon if I don't. She's already seen what Naruto can do with this jutsu, but now it's time for Jiraiya with a fairly big twist.

Jiraiya bit his thumb, and quickly made an array of hand movements, touched the ground, and focused. He was lifted into the air by a large toad, not quite the size of the chief, but big enough to almost fill the arena. Raye was not surprised that Jiraiya had used his summoning jutsu to aid himself. She hopped out of its way with ease. Jiraiya kept his concentration, and a writhing tornado of chakra appeared in his hand, contained into a tight and possibly fatal ball. He forced the chakra to become more compact, and with the decrease in size came an increase in power. He spoke softly to the toad, and before waiting for a reply leapt into the air, preparing to plunge into Raye. Just as he was about to dive, he was stopped, midair, by a large and sticky tongue that was encircling his body.
`I won't allow you to try and do such serious damage to the honorable daughter. The chief would have my head for such a thing!' A deep voice screeched at him. Jiraiya allowed himself to fall limp. How could he expect Gamabunta's eldest son to let him hurt Raye, even though she would be able to heal herself instantly. He allowed the toad to leave, and tried his very hardest to fight by himself, unaided. It wasn't working in his favor.

Jiraiya was lying on the dirt, sweating like a pig half an hour later. His clothes were strewn over the arena, and he was only wearing essentials for modesty. Raye had completely worn him out, and she had only started getting out of breath about 10 minutes ago.

`Alright Jiraiya. I'm convinced, Raye; you are now the head of the ANBU…'
`Hold it right there Lady Hokage! I'm sure these people came here to see more than an old man getting beaten up.' Anko was proudly standing in front of Jiraiya.
`Anko, what are you doing now? I'm bored of standing out here; I just wanna go and sit down somewhere!'
`Sit on the ground then, but I won't let Raye just waltz back in here after ten years and take over our special forces because she managed to beat up some old perve. I want to fight her, myself.'

Heh, I'm not sure what fight she was watching just then, but Anko definitely must be going crazy if she wants to fight Raye after what just happened. If she doesn't watch what she's saying, I'm going to have to go and restrain Raye. But I wonder if Anko will think I'm protecting her? Well, technically I would be protecting her. From her own big mouth. At least I know that Raye will sleep well tonight.

`No, Anko. Raye has already had her fight today.'
`Then surely she can manage another!' Raye stepped between the two.
`Tsunade. If it's a fight that Anko wants, then let her have it. I will gladly face her as well as Jiraiya for my position.' Tsunade sighed. She was tired of standing in the sun.
`Very well. But Raye, you better make this quick.' Raye smiled. She had a familiar look in her eye. Kakashi relaxed in his seat, it would be pointless to try and stop Raye now. He didn't think she would do any serious damage, but damage none the less.
`Of course, Lady Hokage.' Anko snorted at the Raye's confident reply and took her stance. Tsunade stood back and addressed the crowd.
`Raye has accepted Anko's challenge. There will be one more fight today. The rules remain the same, but anyone else wishing to battle Raye will do it privately, without the present conditions or spectators. Begin!'
`Bring it on, Raye. Aren't you getting a little old to fight?'
`Last time I checked, Anko, you still had me by a few months.' Anko scowled.
Raye lunged forward at Anko, and she moved swiftly. Raye, however, was not aiming for her, and kicked off hard, aiming towards the sun. Anko shielded her eyes as she attempted to see where Raye was going.
Raye performed her self-replacing shadow clone jutsu, and used it to quickly push herself off above the arena, at a speed that no-one could detect. The clone vanished from the force of Raye's leg, but instantaneously replaced itself and fell into the battle. The real Raye cast a genjutsu on herself, blocking her from view so that she became simply transparent.

Anko fought hard. Raye would appear to be taking quite a beating, but no damage ever seemed to occur, she simply kept fighting, no harm done. Raye was getting bored of watching her clone do the fighting, and she was beginning to tire from it and the genjutsu she had cast. She had wasted quite a bit of chakra against Jiraiya, and this was pushing her comfort zone. She had masses of chakra, but didn't like having to use more than half. She was approaching that personal limit rapidly, but she knew it would not take her long to defeat Anko once she paid attention to the clone's movements.
Anko summoned a snake with amazing speed, but it was nothing compared to Raye's. Raye had her clone dodge the snake, and she widened her barrier. She made accurate hand signs with lightning speed, and produced her own summoning jutsu. Only difference was, Raye summoned tigers. Her clone smiled, and Raye discontinued the chakra flow that kept it fighting. She released the genjutsu, and a massive tiger attacked Anko.
Anko looked shocked, and quickly pulled another serpent to aid her. The tiger bit through it effortlessly and continued to go for Anko. Anko used her summoning jutsu again, only this time calling forth a much larger snake to combat the massive animal. Anko concentrated on keeping out of the way as the tiger gradually overpowered the snake after a small rouse. Raye saw her chance, and moved with the agility of a cat. She was instantly behind Anko, and her fist was plunging into the back of her knee. Anko fell in pain, and Raye pressed a point on her neck. Anko collapsed, and Tsunade had someone carry Anko off. No-one asked questions about what Raye had done to Anko. No-one needed to. For one, more than half of the village hadn't seen her fast movements, and those who did knew that Raye had used a pressure point to knock her out with the touch of a finger. Kakashi grinned to himself. There wasn't a soul in the known world that had the ability to face Raye Uzumaki alone. She was the daughter of Minato Namikaze, after all. What else would people expect?

Raye had been declared the winner, and everyone was ready to leave as soon as the doors were opened. The people were just out of their seats as Guy and Ayame appeared in the middle of the arena, holding hands, smiling uncontrollably. Kakashi grimaced and held his head.
`Everyone, can I have your attention please. Men, I have some bad news for you. Ladies, I have even worse news for you. Ayame here is no longer available, and to my adoring fans, nor am I.' The whole village seemed to groan.
`I'd like to inform you all that I, Might Guy, the most skilled, and handsome, jonin that the Village Hidden in the Leaves has to offer, will be marrying this woman. Ayame, daughter of Ichiraku, will be my wife by this time two weeks from now. Everyone should come! I'll have someone send you all fliers, and don't feel bad if you can't get a date, this isn't about you.' Ichiraku smiled lamely and started laughing hysterically. He had lost it. His daughter was marrying Guy.
`Kakashi, my old friend. Please!? You have to help me, how do I deal with Ayame marrying Guy of all people!?' Kakashi had sympathy for Ichiraku, and pulled out one of his Make-Out novels. He hadn't looked at them since Raye had returned, but hadn't bothered to remove them from his pockets either. Ichiraku looked inside the book with low moral, but his eyes lit up the moment he started reading. Kakashi chuckled and led Team 7 out of the stands and back to their training. They had a fairly important mission coming up, and before Kakashi told them he wanted them to be completely ready to handle it.

I wonder if they'll be alright. This is more of a test than anything else, but sending them on an A-raked mission alone is just crazy. Naruto and Sasuke are more than capable of fending for themselves, but what about Sakura? I'm sure between the two of them she'll be safe, but I'd like to follow them just in case. It's like a refresher exercise on a very low scale.

`Raye, you were fabulous today. You almost seemed back to your own self.'
Soon the whole village would know why she was the daughter of “Konoha's Yellow Flash”. Raye smiled at Kakashi's compliments. As she thought about the day, her mind kept taking her back to Guy announcing his engagement to Ayame, and their wedding in two weeks time. Kakashi looked at her blank face, and she couldn't help herself. She burst out laughing, doubled over whilst sitting on his bed. Kakashi smiled, he could guess what she was thinking by now, and he put his arm around her hunched shoulders in an attempt to help her stop laughing. She held her stomach in pain as she stood up straight. She ran her hand over Kakashi's face as she left the room to find some shorts to sleep in.

Raye headed back into the dark room. It was faintly lit up by the moonlight. Kakashi lay in his soft bed. She almost blushed at his intense stare and she slowly crawled in beside him. He drew her into his chest. She closed her eyes as she hugged around his waist. They just held each other in the moonlight, not saying a word.

Tsunade had called both Raye and Kakashi to her that morning. First she wanted to congratulate Raye on her victories yesterday, and regaining her position in the village. Then she needed to speak with Kakashi about Team 7's next mission. They were to protect the princess of The Land of Fire, at the king's order. Shizune was happy, Tsunade was acting the way she should as the Hokage.
`..Although Anko wasn't in an official match to contend you being the head of the ANBU black-ops, it has probably convinced the village that you really are who you say, and have the expertise to protect them.'
`Thanks, Tsunade. That's nice to know, but I think we should discuss Team 7's next mission, it could be very dangerous.'
`I'm aware of that. Kakashi, it's up to you. I would like to have them do this alone, to see how well they can handle themselves, however I don't want them just left to themselves. You can stalk them, pretend not to know them, just go with them if you like. Anything, as long as you're able to protect them from serious threats when necessary.' Kakashi was taking in his options.
`I understand, Tsunade. It's quite a decision, but…'
`Well! Hello there everyone, how have you all been!?' Ebisu smiled while everyone else groaned.
`What is it, Ebisu? I don't have time for this. I need to finish with Kakashi and then I have something urgent to ask of Raye.'
`Well well well, Tsunade. That's no way to greet one of your most respected jonin.' Raye suppressed her annoyance and turned around, planning on being polite, yet somehow not at the same time.
`Of course it's a good way to greet you, Ebisu. You're interrupting Lady Hokage at a possibly critical time, and you think its fun.'
`I see you haven't changed a bit, my dearest.' Ebisu had a cocky grin plastered all over his face, and Kakashi was scowling at him. Ebisu was too busy admiring Raye to notice.
`She's Miss Raye, to you Ebisu. Now please hurry up, Lady Tsunade has a tight schedule and it's hard enough to keep her on it as it is!' Shizune pleaded. Ebisu snapped out of the trance Raye's beauty had put him in, and redirected his attention to the medic ninja. He walked over to her, trying to appear cool. Shizune looked at Tsunade, she was relaxing in her big chair, ready to fall asleep.
`Ahhh, Ebisu, what are you doing?' Shizune asked, slightly worried. Ebisu smiled gently and said in his manliest voice.
`Don't worry, Shizune. You'll enjoy this, I promise.' Shizune looked scared, and she dropped her large pile of books with a start. Her eyes went wide with shock, and Tsunade turned away and blocked her ears. Raye stood behind Kakashi laughing, knowing what would come next. Shizune screamed.
`HENTAI!!!!!!!' Smack. The sound of Shizune's hand connecting with Ebisu's face echoed through the large room. She had never been like Tsunade when it came to infusing chakra into her attacks, but the swollen red hand print on Ebisu's face told everyone that she had just learned. Ebisu stumbled backwards, startled. He righted himself, and then took a few steps back from the steaming girl. Raye tried not to giggle, and bent to help Shizune pick up her books. Ebisu was standing next to Kakashi, grinning at his view of Raye from behind. He was clenching his hands, fighting his will in an attempt to control himself, but was inevitably inching closer to the thin woman in front of him. Kakashi sighed, put a lazy hand in front of his chest and pushed him back towards the door. He left his hand firmly in place over his heart, and spoke in a low, yet threatening voice.
`If you even lay one finger on her I will kill you.' Ebisu laughed, and took a few steps to the side. He could fain confidence, but he could not hide fear. Tsunade motioned to Kakashi. She spoke quietly, as if half asleep.
`You can stand outside while I deal with Ebisu, come back when you have made your choice.' Kakashi nodded and walked out hands in pockets. Ebisu walked over to where Raye was crouching, and bent over her shoulder. He quickly “apologized” to Shizune, and watched as Raye continued to pick up books. He could see straight down her cleavage, and he was drooling as her arms moved constantly.
`Next time, Ebisu, I would appreciate it if you would leave my assistant alone. As you can tell, she doesn't like being touched, and has a mean slap.' Tsunade said, before falling asleep completely. Ebisu wasn't paying any attention to the Hokage. His hands were fidgeting, twisting around each other, itching to get closer. Kakashi came back in with his answer, and saw Ebisu's lopsided grin as he watched Raye, mesmerized, his hand getting closer.
Kakashi cleared his throat, inches away from Ebisu. Ebisu turned, and jumped a little. He shrugged.
`I wasn't touching, just looking.' Kakashi shook his head slowly.
`Close enough.' His hand smashed into Ebisu's gut, and sent him flying across the room. No chakra required. Raye just laughed, she hadn't bothered to pull Ebisu up, and it was much more fun to watch Kakashi handle it his way. She continued to laugh, and she fell on her bum. She had been in an unstable position while crouching down, and the force of Kakashi's strength had hit her after Ebisu went for a trip into the wall. Tsunade didn't budge, but there was the hint of a smile tipping the corners of her mouth. Kakashi easily helped Raye back to her feet and held her around the waist with one arm, whispered in her ear and left. Shizune sighed with innocent jealousy.

If only a handsome guy would treat me like that. Instead, I get the pervert and his creepy hands!

Tsunade talked to Raye briefly after opening her eyes, and Raye left her to rest. Young as she looked, occasionally Tsunade felt as old as she was.

Raye looked up at the sky. The morning was grey and cold, daring her to test its patience. As the reinstated head of the ANBU black-ops, Raye had been sent on an extremely important mission by Tsunade. It was an A-ranked mission, involving S-class ninja such as her, only rogue; and it correlated to Kakashi and Team 7. Raye, Tsunade and Kakashi had talked about his team being sent on an A-rank mission as well, protecting the Land of Fire's princess. To see if they could handle the pressure alone, Kakashi had made a choice. He had been welcome to accompany them, or anything else he wished; but Kakashi would not be involved unless necessary, not allowing the 3 young genin to fall back on his skill. They would have to rely on each other and themselves personally. Therefore, Kakashi would shadow them without interference, testing both their observation and awareness and his stalking technique.

A/N Bahaha, Inuyasha moment, lol =P Hope you liked that. I'm sorry, I was wrong, I don't have any more chapters yet, but I'm writing as quickly as I can without making it sound like crap. I really hope that someone decides to read this story =D
