“Why did I fall in love with you?” Sakura asked softly one night after they had made love, thinking of the difficulties they faced.

Gaara propped himself up on one elbow and gazed down at her. “Does it matter?” His fingers gently smoothed her hair, but his voice held a hint of fear.

“I don't know,” she replied. “Maybe.”

“How so?”

She looked up at him, taking in his deep set aquamarine eyes and the brilliant red tattoo on his forehead. Love, it read. She didn't doubt that he loved her. And she knew she loved him.

Looking up at him, she said, “It's complicated.”

“Then uncomplicated it,” he countered, swiftly. “Do you want to stop loving me?”

She shook her head emphatically. “No. I don't think I could.”

“Good, then that is all that matters,” he said, capturing her lips in a kiss.
