I wanted you to know I love the way you laughI wanna hold you high and steal your pain awayI keep your photograph and I know it serves me wellI wanna hold you high and steal your pain
It was raining- almost as though the earth itself had been crying for the pain and the violence to stop, and in an explosion; a brilliant flash of light, its cry was answered. The two duelling youths were suspended in the air, their gazes locked on one another, staring into each other’s soul it seemed, and then it was over. The light faded and both boys were on the ground. The blonde haired one, his clothing torn and bruises covering his body, lay on the ground unconscious, the remnants of tears still lingering on his mud smeared cheeks. The dark-haired Sharingan holder stood above him the only visible marks being those of two rips below the shoulders of his jacket and a long scratch along the width of his forehead protector. He stared down at his unconscious comrade, the only expressions on his face was of regret and of confusion over the mind power control Orochimaru had over him.
All of a sudden all he could feel was a sharp pain in the left side of his body and he clutched his shoulder as he fell to his knees. He knew the source of this pain. It was from the over exposure of the full power of the cursed seal and from using the Chidori three times, which surpassed his average limit. As he hit the ground a small amount of blood escaped his lips.
When he regained his composure he opened his eyes to find himself staring into the other boy’s closed eyes. He also noticed that his forehead protector had fallen off during the aftermath. He stared at it a moment and then looked back to the Kyuubi holder, remaining in the position he had fallen into. He sighed heavily and pushed himself back up onto his knees his eyes remaining locked on the blonde boy’s. He reached out a hand and brushed an errant tear off of the blonde’s cheek.
“Naruto,” he whispered, “You must have truly wanted to save me.”
Naruto stirred a little then, his eyes opening a little to reveal ruby red eyes so full of sadness and so unlike the cerulean blue ones he usually donned.
"Sasuke..." He whimpered, trying to reach up to the other boy's face. However, he still lacked the strength and his hand fell back to the ground and darkness consumed him once more.
Sasuke stared into Naruto's face, a strange emotion coming through him, one of shame and of regret. He reached over and grabbed his forehead protector from the ground, he looked at it a moment and though of what it symbolized- all of his effort and all of his sweat- his status as a ninja of Konoha. He sighed and pressed it into Naruto's left hand as he stood up and regained his composure.
"I'm sorry Naruto, so sorry." I was with those words that Sasuke found the strength within himself to turn his back on his former comrade and walked away, towards power, towards almost certain death.
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesomeAnd I don't feel right when you're gone awayYou've gone away, you don't feel me,
Anymore.
When Naruto finally came to consciousness again he was in a very soft bed. He was shocked when he opened his eyes to be seeing the silver tinted eyes of Hyuuga Neji instead of the charcoal eyes of Sasuke. He was surprised, and very disappointed.
"Well, good morning sleepy one, you've been unconscious for quite a while. They've already had the chance to heal the rest of us, and we were just waiting on you." The longhaired boy said with a somewhat forced smile.
"Nn." replied Naruto. He realised that he had failed. Sasuke was not there. He could tell by the fact that he still remembered that look on Sasuke's face during the brief moment of consciousness that had over come him earlier. He also noticed a strange dull, throbbing pain in is left hand and he looked over to his hand. Eyes widening he realised that he was clutching Sasuke's forehead protection with what seemed like every ounce of strength in his body. Neji gave a little laugh when he saw the surprised look on Naruto's face.
"They said that you were clinging to that thing as though it were your lifeline, they weren't sure how to pry it out of you hand so they just left it." The pale-eyed teen explained.
Naruto simply nodded and loosened his grip on the item, never taking his eyes off of it. 'Sasuke...' he thought to himself ' why did you do this? Why did you go to him?' He felt tears come to his eyes and quickly blinked them away before Neji could notice, the last thing he needed was to be questioned on his feelings again…
Neji noticed tears creeping into Naruto’s eyes, and looked away, a pang of regret and of sympathy for the boy on the bed jolted through his body, along with a feeling of anger for Sasuke who caused these feelings to overcome the Kyuubi holder. He noticed the way Naruto looked at the forehead protector with such longing and wished that for once Naruto would turn those expressive cerulean eyes onto him with such longing and want. Neji had known about Naruto’s feelings for Sasuke for quite a while now and had thought that Sasuke had felt the same for Naruto, why else would Neji have let him go off on his own to get him back?
The worst is over now and we can breathe againI wanna hold you high, you steal my pain awayThere's so much left to learn, and no one left to fightI wanna hold you high and steal your pain.
He clenched his fists in anger and felt his fingernails cut through the inside of his hands. He walked closer to Naruto uncaring of the pain in his hand.
“Naruto-kun…I’m sorry,” Neji began, regret and sorrow in his eyes.
Naruto looked up and met the pale eyes of the other boy.
“Neji…?” Naruto began, aware that again his throat was constricting and he was fighting back tears. “You…you gave me hope, how were you to know that Sasuke would…that he would not return with me?” The last part of Naruto’s sentence was cut off by a small sob that had managed to escape the smaller youth.
Neji maintained eye contact with him, aware that there were tears pouring from those bottomless eyes, tears that tore his heart into little pieces. Unable to control his movements, Neji stepped forward once more and reached out a hand, gently wiping the tears from the blonde one’s pale, whiskered cheeks.
Naruto closed his eyes at the feel of Neji’s soft hands on his face, when the touch lingered he opened his eyes. The Hyuuga prodigy was surprisingly close to him, so close that if Naruto was to lean forward just a little... Almost as though he had read the other’s mind, Neji leaned in and captured his lips in a gentle, yet insistent way.
Naruto’s eyes fell closed once more and he leaned into the kiss a small sigh escaping his lips. He needed this comfort…he needed…well something, and it appeared that Neji was willing to give it to him. He reached up and cupped Neji’s cheek with one hand, using the other to pull them close together so that their bodies could touch the way they both desired.
'Cause I'm broken when I'm open And I don't feel like I am strong enough'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesomeAnd I don't feel right when you're gone away.
Neji broke their kiss gasping for air. “Na-Naruto-Kun?” he questioned. Everything was happening so quickly, and he wondered for a moment if Naruto was thinking of him or of Sasuke…
“Neji…please… I just need…” Naruto whimpered, not quite sure how to finish his sentence. He realised that he was being selfish, but he hurt so much inside. Besides…it wasn’t as though he didn’t like Neji, because he did…perhaps more then he had originally though. All he needed right now was to be healed, someone to dull the pain that was coursing relentlessly through his veins.
Neji inwardly sighed at the blonde boy. His cheeks were flushed from their kiss, his lips enticingly swollen and his eyes were clouded over, even the anguished look that had previously been there was fading. He knew that there was a high probability that this would be nothing more then a one-time thing with Naruto, but if he could even the smallest thing to help this beautiful man…well…he would do it.
Neji leaned forward again and captured those lips in his again, this time pushing Naruto back slightly so that he was lying on top of him. He gasped when he felt their erections brush against each other. Naruto tilted his head upwards and towards the ceiling leaving his neck exposed to Neji, who gladly took the incentive and began to lick little paths up his neck and towards his ear. Naruto sighed in pleasure and closed his eyes allowing himself to be pulled into the sensations.
'Cause I'm broken when I'm open And I don't feel like I am strong enough'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesomeAnd I don't feel right when you're gone away.
The dark haired man had finally reached his destination. He banged on the door of a small cottage and waited semi-patiently for an answer. A light haired man with large rimmed glasses and a Hidden Village of the Sound forehead protector opened the door to him.
“Sasuke-sama…” he greeted leading Sasuke to where Orochimaru was seated.
“Kabuto, Orochimaru…I have come for the power that you promised me.” Sasuke declared with a no-nonsense tone of voice.
Kabuto looked scandalized by the way Sasuke was addressing him master. “ I know his appearance has changed, but the man in front of you is actually Orochimaru-sama” Sasuke looked unimpressed and shrugged his shoulders.
Orochimaru let out a bark of laughter and ordered Kabuto to show Sasuke to his sleeping quarters, which he did grudgingly.
As soon as he was left alone, Sasuke sat on the bed and looked out the window. It was still raining, and it hadn’t stopped since the battle with Naruto at the Valley of the End. E stared out the window for what must have been at least two hours when he came across a realisation. He was making a mistake! With this in mind he stood from his bed and jumped from the window… He was going home.
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesomeand I don't feel right when you're gone away.
Both boys collapsed on the bed for a moment before Neji stood up. He quickly pulled up his pants and did them up. He didn’t once look back at Naruto as he raced out the door, eyes expressing regret and shame.
Naruto remained on the bed, a dull ache in his bottom adding to the one that resonated throughout the rest of his body, shameful tears burning his eyes and falling unbidden onto his cheeks.
“Neji…”
You've gone awayyou don't feel me here anymore
Well…there’s chapter one! I’ll be updating very soon as I already have a grip on what I want to happen!
Please Review! It makes me very happy!
