Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Lost and Found ❯ Hurt ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Yosh!! It's my first time writing a fanfic or few-thousands-words-something, add that to my pathetic excuse of English, please excuse me for dry plot and grammatical, word usage and sentence structure errors.
Pairing: SasuNaru, NejiNaru
Disclaimer: Naruto belongs to Masashi Kishimoto sensei…. He's not mine neither is he Sasuke's.

"Dob.. Naruto.. I.. Let's end this, I don't think we should be together anymore."

Naruto tensed and slowly turned around to face his lover, "What do you mean, Sasuke?"

Sasuke's head was lowered, turned to one side, both hands in his short's pockets, "I mean.. we.. I don't want us to go on like this anymore. It's better for us to just be friends, normal friends."

Sapphire eyes stared at the dark-head in front of him; his arms fell limp to the side of his orange T-shirt. His mind was a total blank, refusing to register the words spoken to him.

Time seemed to have come to a stand-still, neither boys moved. Then suddenly, as if to protest against the stillness, a breeze picked up ruffling their clothes and the gentle meadow at their feet.

Sasuke's words had finally made its way through the blond's head, bit by bit, the boy felt his heart shattered as his brain slowly digested what his lov.. ex-lover had said. Tears threatened to fall, but he forced them away. He had promised himself never to cry again. He had managed not to cry when people in his village threw harsh words at him, he refused to break his promised just because Sasuke decided to break up with him. Ignoring the pain in his heart, he forced down his wall of defense--one which had been honed all through his hard life.

With his mask in placed, Naruto bit back coldly, "We were never friends. Never before, never now, never in the future."

Sasuke whipped his head up and stared at the blond, a little shocked of what he had heard. He had expected Naruto to shout and scream at him or maybe even break down crying for him not to leave, but definitely not this cold attitude, "Wha..?"

The boy chose to ignore him, instead kept his steady icy glaze and asked, "Why?.. Why decides to.. br.. break up with me now."

Naruto felt his 'wall' cracked when he forced the question out of his mouth. It hurt to say it because saying it out loud meant acknowledging it as reality, not some nightmare which he would soon wake up from.

Sasuke didn't missed the hesitant and pain in his ex-lover's voice. It somewhat reassured him, comforted him to know that his ex-lover had been upset about the break-up and the cold attitude had only been a facade. Placing on his emotionless mask, he replied non-chalantly, "Because there will be no future for two boys together."

Naruto's fists clenched, he felt another crack on his 'wall'. Trying desperately to keep his raging emotions in-checked and his voice steadied, he countered, "I thought you already know that.. before you confessed your lo..love to me."

That seemed to have struck a nerve. The Uchiha heir visibly flinched before he hardened his features, bitterly he replied, "I was too naive and stupid. Maybe just too blinded from my af.. affection for you. But I have wakened up from our little fantasy, I realise the duty I have to fulfill and I am not going to waste anymore time with you." The dark-haired boy straightened up and sent an almost accusing glare at Naruto, "I have to rebuild my clan and you.. cannot give me a heir."

Naruto's 'wall' crumbled during Uchiha's speech, he was now gripping tightly onto the last strain of his control. Mustering everything he had, he bit back his last retort, "I have always known what a selfish bastard you are, Uchiha. I should have known better to plunge into this stupid.. fling with you. Happy rebuilding your clan, it has not been a pleasure knowing you."

With that said, he turned his head and walked away, his eyes snapped shut to keep in the tears and his body taut to keep from running. Step by step, Uzumaki Naruto walked away from his first lover.

The evening sun, which had been enveloping the couple with its dying glow, stole away into the darkening meadow as if hiding its crying face. Two years ago, it had basked with happiness for the young lovers who had found each other in this meadow. Yet two years later, the heaven lamp mourned for the loss of first love while the same meadow soaked up its golden tears.

The pale full moon hung frozen in the gloomy night when Naruto finally dragged his weary body home. The icy orb cast its ghostly veil on everything in sight, shooting freezing aura onto the already torn and tortured soul.

Finally succumbing to exhaustion, Naruto collapsed onto his bed, only to tense and scrambles away like a wounded animal.

`His Scent...'

The sheets stained of the Uchiha's scent; it rose to the air and surrounded the blond. Gradually taking the form of an airy claw, it clutched onto Naruto's windpipe, squeezing the air out of him.

Something inside the Kyubi wielder snapped, he screamed and pounced onto his bed. All his pent-up emotions exploded into frenzy, his fingers flexed and clawed at the sheets, tearing everything to shred.

“AHhhhhh…….”

Tears streamed down his face as he wailed in agony; pain ripped through his fingers as he rent the sheets. He tripped and fell into the nest of shredded sheets. The damnable scent immediately assaulted his senses again. Naruto struggled to get up but the torn sheets had wrapped around his limbs, binding and trapping him like how the scent's owner had once had.

`Sasuke'

Naruto gave up and collapsed onto his bed, surrendering to the Uchiha's scent, allowing the boy to torment his soul once more. Liquid pearl droplets slid down his flushed cheek as he stared at the cracks on his grayish white ceiling.

`Why?'
`Why do you make me fall in love with you when you are eventually going to leave me?'
`Do you know how much courage it had taken me to accept you? I had been so scared to let you into my life because no one had ever tried to… I was so afraid to try… afraid that if I got too close to you, I won't be able to take it if you leave.'
`But you had eased my fear with your sweet nothings, threatened me with cold shoulders and eventually convincing me to give you a chance.'
`……Yet you still leave me…..'

A chilled breeze ripped through the still air, freezing Naruto's wet cheeks before scattering something off the bedside table. Reflexively, he darted his pained, tired gaze towards the table and nearly regretted doing so. Lying about the table and the floor were the Jigsaw puzzle pieces Sasuke had given him a few months ago. Sasuke had said that their love was like the puzzle, he and Naruto would piece everything together. When they completed it, their love would be whole and would last forever.

Naruto gave a bitter smile at the memories of the time they had spent placing the Jigsaw pieces together. Sasuke would lie next to him in the warm apartment, both laughing as they tackled the puzzle. They would then cuddle together on Naruto's bed, contented in each other's presence through many nights. It took them a month to finish the puzzle… or at least they had attempted to finish it, because no matter how much they had searched for it, the last missing piece had refused to show up. The puzzle was never completed.

`Just like our love…. Maybe, it has never meant to be.'

Gradually the grayish ceiling dyed a pale yellow as darkness turned to dawn, yet cold vapours continued to mingle in the frigid room. The rising sun failed to provide warm, only able to add a little light to the small apartment.

Lying on the bed of damp, soiled shredded sheets was the cold body of Uzumaki Naruto, lifeless like a corpse. His cheeks were frozen and sticky from the cold and tears; his bloodshot, dull eyes continued staring at the cracked ceilings. If it was not for the barely noticeable slight heaving of his chest, one might think the blond was dead.

Suddenly a series of raps could be heard from the front door, Naruto continued lying on his bed as if he had not heard the noise.

“Uzumaki, I know you're in there. Open up!” a cool voice called out.

When there was still no responds from the blond, the voice persisted, “If you don't open up now, I'm going to knock down your door.”

After being ignored for another few minutes, the door blasted open revealing a tall teen with jet-black braided waist-length hair and pearly eyes, saw-dust littered his milky white kagoule and black baggy trousers. The teen allowed his stern gaze to roam the small room before fixing it on the figure lying on the bed. The sight that greeted him caused his eyes to widen, an emotion flashed through them before returning to their previous cool. Wordlessly he moved towards the figure with steady large strides.

Finally stopping beside the bed, he took in the tormented state of Naruto and whispered, “So it's true that Uchiha broke up with you.”

Naruto didn't even blink to acknowledge Neji's presence.

“Haruno broke up with Lee because Uchiha asked her out. Lee is very upset now.”

“That bastard!!”

The blond shot up and clambered off his bed, but a pair of strong arms got hold of his shoulders and halted his action.

Naruto was livid, he turned and snarled at Neji, “Let go of me! I am going to beat the hell out of that bastard. How dare he hurt so many people for his own selfish means. Screw all his crap about rebuilding his clan, there is no way I'm going to allow him to make use of Sakura-chan like that. Let go…”

“She deserves it.”

“What did y…”

Neji interrupted the scream sternly, “She dumped Lee the minute Uchiha asked her out. I think that is saying a lot about what Lee is to her.”

Naruto's body slackened and fell back face-first onto the bed, he sighed, “Sakura-chan just…”

“Lee tried to kill himself. I don't know what she said to him but if it is not for Gai-sensei, Lee may be dead.”

Neji gazed down at the forlorn figure, hands reaching out before pulling back, as if contemplating his actions. Hesitantly, he squatted down to come face-to-face with Naruto and frowned when he stared into the dull lifeless orbs. Gently he stretched out his right hand and tenderly cupped a whiskered cheek. As if the boy in front of him was a fragile crystal, Neji spoke out softly, “Your eyes have always been so alive and vivid; don't let them take away that light; they don't deserve it at all.”

Something flickered through the Cerulean orbs as Naruto stared at Neji. Neji stood up slowly and gently flipped the blond to his back, feeling the Naruto's gaze on him the whole time.

Quietly Neji instructed, “Go wash your face now.”

Naruto, surprisingly, obeyed silently, he got up and out his bed toward the bathroom.

Neji watched Naruto until he disappeared behind a door before turning his gaze onto the shredded sheets. Efficiently, he pulled out the torn sheets and threw them to the side. Moving around the room swiftly and searching using his Byakugan, Neji lost no time in locating the spared bed sheets and blankets. He pulled the new sheet onto the bed and dumped the torn one into the kitchen bin just a second before Naruto re-emerged from the bathroom.

The slightly refreshed blond rigidly made his way back to his bed, seemingly not noticing the new sheets. Neji motioned for Naruto to lie down, threw the new blanket over the blond and tucked him in. Keeping a tender gaze on Naruto, Neji sat down on the floor beside the bed and spoke out gently, “Sleep… I'll be here beside you.”

Obediently Naruto's eyelids fluttered close and slowly drifted into deep slumber. The last thing he remembered was a comfortable scent that embraced his senses—a scent so powerful that it overpowered the smell of the dark Uchiha.

TBC???
Hope it isn't too bad or boring. Personally I think the last part is a bit rushed and Naruto and Neji may be a little OOC. Actually this fic just sorta write by itself because I just bought book 22 and wanted something with NejiNaru pairing, so this is what I ended up with. Reviews will be greatly appreciated and maybe motivate me to come out with a more decent plot to continue this fic. Thanks!!
