Next chapter's finally done. Hope you enjoy it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or I would have made Gaara one happy guy about now.
Bored I stared out of the window before turning myself around examining the room where I had woken up in. There wasn't much to see only a lonesome bed, an old cupboard and a children desk.
`Not that I'm going to stay here much longer.' I knew that in time I would move to my `new' room. I shivered at the idea of that new room, knowing all too well what that meant.
- ++Flashback++ -
“Nice to see you awake.” I looked stunned up in a tan face surrounded by black locks. But what was the most notable of the man in front of me were his pale blue eyes, with would give you the feeling they were looking straight into your soul.
“What…” I started, but he stopped me before I could really ask something.
“What happened is that I have picked up my bride.” He said with a smirk and now I could only look at him like he had grown a second head. “You better get used to it here, because there's no way your Kazekage boyfriend is going to find you here before you're legally mine.” He continued while his eyes got an evil glint in them.
“What! You've got to me kidding!” I exclaimed helplessly and he shook his head.
“I did think that the Kazekage would pick someone smart.” He said sarcastic.
“Hey!” I yelled while jumping up, almost knocking him of his feet, which did lead to him losing his smirk. “When you're keeping information from me, it's no wonder that I can't follow!” I barked further at him while his smirk returned.
“Someone with guts, that's going to be fun.” He said more to himself after having recovered himself. He turned around walking away, ignoring me completely until he reached the door.
“He stole my beloved one, so now I'm stealing his.” He informed me with bitterness in his voice before leaving me alone once again.
- ++End flashback++ -
Later an old woman had entered my room carrying my supper. After pushing her a little she told me that Shori, my future husband, had lost his fiancé to another man. Her father had `sold' her for business reasons.
Shori had then gone to the Kazekage for aid, but of course at that moment Gaara wasn't going to break a business marriage for the sake of love. Shori had lost his beloved one and came to the conclusion that it was the Kazekage's fault.
If he hadn't banished love in Suna his fiancé father would have never tried to break their engagement. Sighing I hid my head in my hands wondering how the hell I was going to get out of this.
-
I examined Shori, who was sitting before me while biting my lip. He gave me the magazine where he's been looking in the past five minutes and pointed to a wedding dress. His eyes slid from the image to me and he saw my questioning look.
“Is there something?” He asked polite. I was having a difficult time with feeling like a prisoner when he was just treating my like his fiancé. He even allowed me to walk free inside the house.
He had said that it was impossible to escape because of the numerous guards outside. And to make escaping even more difficult he spend half of his days with me going over the preparations for the wedding. Like now we were examining several magazines for the perfect wedding dress.
I let my eyes slide back to the image in the magazine, which was now in my hands before opening my mouth. “Why did you have to attack Konoha?” I eventually asked quietly and to my surprise I felt a hand pulling my chin back up so that I would meet those pale blue eyes.
“It wasn't me who attacked Konoha.” He answered and my eyes stared stunned in his while he released my chin.
“But…” He shook his head interrupting me before I could really start my sentence.
“I guess I'll just have to tell you everything. A marriage can't be built on a lie.” He said before making it himself comfortable and started his story.
“Years ago in the time that Konoha was founded there was a clan, Matshuo called. This clan wasn't feared because they had special eyes such as the sharingan or the byakugan, but because their blood limit gave them immunity against the other blood limits. The leader of the Matshuo clan, Mishima Matshuo had been the other choice for the first Hokage, but like you know the grandfather of the current Hokage was picked in the end.” Shori stopped to breath before continuing.
“Mishima was furious that he wasn't picked and tried to have the Shodaime assassinated, but failed of course and as punishment he was banned from Konoha. The rest of the clan stood behind their leader and decided to leave Konoha with him.” The black haired man then thought for a minute.
“I only know that after that they had founded their own village, but not many months later a plague had appeared and wiped out the entire village. But in the end it seemed that a couple of the Matshuo clan did survive the plague and they decided that Konoha was guilty for the dead of their comrades. And like you know, they started their revenge about a week ago.” Finished Shori his short history lesson and was now smirking again.
“And since one of those survivors is my friend I had known when they were going to attack and used this knowledge to get my fiancé.” He explained his presence that day. I quickly looked back to the magazine in my hands.
“Is this what you really want?” I asked after an uncomfortable silence had settled. When I looked back up, I saw the confusing in his eyes. “This marriage.” I made him clear and he smirked again. I decided that he did that way too much.
“I'll admit that at first I wasn't entirely certain if I would continue with this. I knew nothing about you; not how you looked or what kind of personality you would have.” He said and laid his hand down on mine.
“But now that I do know you a little, I want nothing rather then to become your husband.” He confessed to my surprise. I was so shocked I didn't even notice that he was kissing me until I registered that he's lips were upon mine.
“Stop!” I exclaimed pushing him off me.
“Sorry.” He excused himself quickly and caught my hands between his. “I promise you that I'm not going to push you to do something you don't want to and also I promise that I'm going to do everything to make this marriage work.” He swore and I could only stare at him with big eyes.
-
After his confession Shori left me alone again to let the news be registered.
`I feel sorry for him.' I decided after a while, staring back outside trough the window, like I had done a lot these past few days. `He deserves a bit of happiness.' I continued and tried to come up with a way to make him happy again.
`Of course I'm not going to marry him that's just wrong. But if he really has feelings for me I'm only going to hurt him.' A frown found his way in my face. `His previous fiancé meant the world to him; perhaps I could bring them back together?' But when I actually got what I was thinking I sadly shook my head.
`She's married. If she would start an affair with him, it would only lead to a broken heart for one of the three in this love-triangle, if her husband loves her of course.” And then the thought, which would destroy my idea completely popped up in my head. `I don't even now who she is.' I sighed.
`But I'm not going to marry him instead, because I'm… in love with Gaara.' I confessed for the first time. I decided that I was deep enough to confess that at least to myself. I let another sigh escape my lips and finally became aware of the world outside my little room.
To my surprise I saw a rider leading his horse towards the mansion. A young man jumped of the horse and the clerk, who was waiting caught the reins while the man sprinted past him inside. Curious I decided that it was time for a walk through the house.
As if I already got used to it, I walked through to hall greeting someone form time to time. From far I saw the door of Shori's study coming closer with every step I took and could hear muffled voices talking to each other. My interest pricked, I stopped behind the door happy with the clearness of the voices.
-
“So the attack failed?” Shori asked clearly expecting an agreement and I felt a jolt of joy run through my veins.
“Yes, we would have managed them, but the Kazekage just needed to interfere.” The foreigner complained and I could imagine the hatred on Shori face.
“He always interferes when he's least needed.” I heard him mumble and the other man started to laugh.
“But you do have his girlfriend. How is your hime actually?” He asked curiously and I shivered at the way he said my new nickname.
“Well… She's simply perfect.” My fiancé sighed like a love-sick fool and the other man chuckled.
“Is she that good?” He teased his friend, who started to sputter words back at him.
“I'm not forcing her to sleep with me. I want that this marriage to work.” Shori confessed timidly and I felt myself a little comforted by the way he defended my honor.
“She must be something special. You haven't behaved like this since Sei.” The foreigner continued and I could feel the temperature in the room behind the door decrease rapidly.
“Sorry, I should have never mentioned her.” The stranger excused himself fast and Shori sighed.
“It doesn't matter. She was the past and Shizuka is the future.” He decided and I could just hear him smile to the other man. There was a small silence, but the two men seemed comfortable in each other's presence.
“How will you ensure that it becomes legal?” The foreigner eventually broke the silence. I heard a chair move followed by retreading footsteps, which I guessed went towards the window.
“I don't know yet.” Shori answered and I realized that he was the one that had moved since his voice had decreased in volume.
“I can just picture his face when you tell him that you're going to marry his sweetheart.” The stranger sniggered.
`Gaara!' I thought feeling me heart skip a beat.
“Eventually I will be standing before him since he needs to sign the marriage certificate.” Shori sighed lost, but I had to admit that I was relieved.
This meant that I had more time than I had calculated to find the solution that would set me free and leave Shori happy.
`And they're going to get Gaara involved themselves. Now I only must find a way to let Gaara know that I'm the bride-to-be.' I considered while continuing my walk.
Stephke23: That's it. I know it isn't the longest chapter, but I wanted this to be a chapter on its own. Review please.
