Man Training Chapter Three
Dissy-dis-claimah': Never owned Naruto, never will, only the great creators own it. Blah blah blah, bling bling bling.
----------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------
Naruto woke up the next morning to find himself alone in the sofa bed, but he heard Shizune in the next room. He got out of the bed and put on his clothes.
'Ramen.' Moaned his empty stomach.
Stumbling into the kitchen, he smelled toast. Shizune was sitting at the table, eating and reading a newspaper. "Morning Shizune-chan." He said, before putting some bread in the toaster grabbing the butter out of the fridge and sitting down next to her at the table.
"Morning, Naruto-kun." She said, looking up from her paper and grinning. "How did you sleep last night?"
"Oh, just fine." Laughed Naruto, "As good as possible with you getting so grabby in your sleep." They shared a bout of laughter until Tsunade ambled into the room.
"Good morning children. Thanks for the toast." She said after snatching the fresh toast from the toaster, ignoring Naruto's griping.
"Fine, I'll eat AFTER I train." He said in a huff. "I'll see you guys later." He got up and made for the door, but Shizune called him back into the kitchen.
"Why don't we meet up for lunch?" She said with a knowing wink. "At that ramen place you were ogling."
"Sure thing." Beamed the blond haired Shinobi before b-lining out the door.
Tsunade watched him leave, "He's pretty energetic for a teenager." She said before biting into her toast.
Shizune nodded, "Yeah, most people sink into angst and rebellion."
"Oh trust me, he's got PLENTY of rebellion." Snorted Tsunade.
"Well, either way, he's a nice kid."
"So, why did you two keep the TV on so late last night?"
Shizune's heart skipped a beat. "I, well, we couldn't go to sleep easily. Uh, too much R and R at the bath house."
"You know, I found it hard to sleep last night too," Said Tsunade "But what REALLY kept me up, was what I saw you two doing in bed." She added in a stern tone.
'SHIT! I'm going to jail!' "Tsunade-sama." Shizune Started, but Tsunade held a hand up to interrupt her.
"Don't bother, I know what I saw, I know what I heard, and I know that after an hour of it, there's no way it was an accident." She glared over at Shizune, not knowing what to expect.
Shizune thought desperately to herself for a way to get out of this, but nothing could. Tsunade was like a human lie detector. She knew that an explanation, no matter how incriminating, was the only way to go.
"It started yesterday, at the bath house..."
-------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------
Shizu ne felt a little better after explaining what was going on between her and Naruto. She told Tsunade everything, from when he first jumped in, to her little plan for revenge, the "Incident", her promise, and the teaching she had given him up until the night before.
"And then we fell asleep." She finished, breathing out a sigh. Now the storm would come, she would be fired for sure. She fixed her eyes on her hands, which were locked together on the table. She awaited her sensei's verdict
Tsunade however, was unwilling to break the silence. At least, not until she could work all of this out in her head. How did Shizune's little prank get THAT out of hand? What drove her to offer this "Man Training" as she called it. What made her give him the promise that she was so adamant about upholding?
'This must be part of the punishment,' Shizune thought as her heart beat so fast, she could feel it in her throat. 'Is she just going to stare at me forever?' She looked up at Tsunade, but to her surprise, the stern look on her teacher's face was gone, replaced by a troubled, more thoughtful one.
'I've got to end this, I'll just apologize then she'll have to talk.' Thought Shizune desperately, for the silence was worse than any physical beating. "Er, Tsunade-sama, I'm sor-"
"Did the two of you actually make love?" Tsunade interrupted.
Quite taken aback, Shizune thought for a moment. "Well, the one time in the bath house, but neither of us wanted that to happen, Tsunade-sama. I swear!" She bowed her head again, hoping to avoid more punishment.
"How do you know that Naruto didn't want it to happen?" Inquired Tsunade, "The boy IS a teenager, and he's been trained by Jiraya for some time."
Shizune's head whipped back up. "He would NEVER!" She exclaimed, "I know he didn't! If you had seen his face, you'd know too!"
At that, Tsunade smiled, 'She's sticking up for him now, is she?' She brushed some hair out of her face and laughed, frightening Shizune to no end.
'Is she thinking of some cruel way to punish me? Or does she suspect Naruto now?' She thought desperately.
"Well, I don't see anything illegal going on Shizune. He's curious after all, and if what he said about the gaps in his, eh, "Education" on the matter, I suppose I can understand that curiosity." Those words made Shizune feel like Atlas* (*Explain at the bottom...) on the day he got fired. But at the future Hokage's acceptance of her actions, she had more questions in her than the sky has stars.
"So, is there going to be a punishment?" She stammered.
"I said there was nothing illegal about it, Shizune. So no." Again Shizune felt weight lifting off of her. "HOWEVER," Tsunade started in again, halting that feeling for the time being. "This, "Instruction", this "Man Training" of yours could easily get out of hand, and become illegal. So if you have any plans to make this as in-depth as I'm imagining right now. You'd better hold off until the boy turns sixteen. Otherwise, you'll earn an exile from the village of Konoha and a massive case of amnesia to go with it. Because I can't let the kind of scandal that would generate come to haunt me when I'm Hokage." She finished her little speech, stressing the word "Hokage", asserting her power in the situation.
"I understand, thank you." Shizune said, bowing her head again. She knew that her instructor wouldn't let her live this down, but now at least, there wouldn't be any punishment. "Do you think we could move on to a, well, a different subject?" She asked before taking another bite of toast, which had grown cold.
"In a bit." Chuckled Tsunade, "But there are some questions I want answered first."
'Oh, I knew it...' Shizune thought bitterly to herself.
"Why did you promise him?"
Not quite the question Shizune had expected, she took time to chew and swallow her food. "I suppose it's because of the way he acted, I mean, he seemed kinda miserable about being ignorant about, well, different things."
Tsunade shook her head, "I think I asked the wrong question, what I meant to say was; Why are you KEEPING the promise to this extent, from what you told me, you only promised to teach him. Not to make him your love-slave."
"Eh? But I." Shizune couldn't find the right response to that. The left side of her brain looked at the right side and said "I got nothing'..." For a little bit, she couldn't get her jaw to move, but when she did, all she got was short, unintelligible white noise coming from her voice box.
"It's okay, Shizune." Laughed Tsunade, "He may be a younger than you, but he's a young MAN, and a very handsome one at that." She gave her student an encouraging wink. "You've never had a boyfriend for as long as I can remember, and I guess that a girl is entitled to a desire for romance."
Shizune almost doubled over as that last remark hit her in the gut, "I-It's not ROMANCE, Tsunade-sama! It's just-"
"Oh it's just what?" Interrupted Tsunade, grinning. "You are half raped him one minute, and the next, you're taking him under your wing and under your sheets, and for what? Man training? Pity doesn't go that far, Shizune, so what is it for? So he can get it right next time?"
If it weren't for her self doubt, Shizune would have screamed her head off right there. But it was the words "Naruto" and "Romance" floating around in her head. That along with the thought of "What if?" kept her silent long enough for Tsunade to continue.
"I know you care about him, I do too. But rush into something like that, and you'll hurt him in ways that'll never heal." She said as she got up and turned on the coffee maker, pouring some grinds into the filter. "I think that part of this is that you've never met anyone like him, if he was a your age, I'd be patting you on the ass and saying "Go get him, Tigress.". If he was in his thirties, I'd probably shove you out of the way and go after him myself. But the point is, he's a teenager. So I want you to find out if it's romance you have, or just a physical need of yours."
"Eh, I'll do that." Was all Shizune could bring herself to say.
The coffee pot filled, and Tsunade poured two mugs. Handing one to Shizune, she sat back down. "Have any plans for the rest of the day?"
"Pshaw, I don't think I'm going to be leaving this place for a few days after this..."
"What about your lunch plans with Naruto?"
"Oh damn, I forgot about that." Said Shizune, "I don't think I can really spend time with him today."
"You'd better." Said Tsunade sternly "I'll not have you standing him up, he's probably got enough doubt about this as it is."
'Didn't seem to doubtful last night.' Cackled Shizune's thoughts.
"How about you go see a movie after you eat lunch?" Suggested Tsunade. "Go see something romantic, write it off as part of his instruction." She held up her hands to stop Shizune's oncoming protests. "And it might just help you get a bearing on your feelings towards him if you spend time together in an environment like that."
Shizune quieted down, "I suppose it might help." Tsunade glared, "FINE, I'll do it."
"Good." Said Tsunade after draining the last of her coffee and getting back up. "I'll leave some money for the meal and the movie. There's four hours until lunch, so clean up and spend the rest of that time thinking about just what you're going to do about this whole situation." She picked up her purse and left a few bills on the kitchen table. "Well, I'm off!"
"Where are you going?" Asked Shizune, wanting her teacher to stay longer.
But Tsunade just smiled and donned the jacket with "Luck" stitched on the back. "Do you have to ask?"
Tsunade left, cuddling her purse and gleefully whispering "I'm goanna make you allot fatter" to it as she walked down the hallway.
That left Shizune alone in the kitchen. She got up and took a shower, but she didn't feel the water, or the soap or shampoo. She didn't feel anything, save for the odd void that had just opened up in her mind. Her hands moved themselves as she washed, she didn't think of anything but how to fill that void, and it had to be Naruto. But how? Would he be a friend that she had helped overcome his awkward ways around women? Or someone she loved? would he love her in return?
She turned off the water and stepped out of the shower, her lips forming the name:
"Naruto."

Author's notes: The part of me that listens to Metallica, wears boots and eats deep fried kittens for breakfast is trying to strangle me with my own hands for writing that last part. BUT IT HAD TO BE DONE!
I think I owe a few explanations of stuff from this chapter, first of which is my reference of "Atlas" No, I'm not talking about a map, I'm talking about a Greek mythical figure. Atlas committed a great injustice and Zeus punished him by making him support the weight of all the heavens and earth. (It's where the saying "The weight of the world on your shoulders" comes from.)
Second is my making Naruto older in the fanfic than in the anime, the reason for that is; I didn't want the NarutoxShizune relationship to sound wrong if I made it sexual. Which I don't even know I'm going to do yet, I've also been writing another fic featuring Naruto and Hinata, so I don't know if I want to add more drama to that one by saying that Naruto got some naughty training from Shizune like six month before the fight with Sauske (I start the other fic after the fight with Sauske.) So I suppose it might depend somewhat on the kinds of reviews I get after I post.
Remember, I'm writing these first three chapters in a row before I post them. So by next chapter, I might just have some reviews to go on before writing.
