Her name is Lanoka Hanyou and she was my slave. I killed her whole family, she asked for her life in trade for me to have taken her freedom away from her. As years passed, she had shown that taking her in was very valuable. Her keen sense of hearing and her ability to see from far was excellent even though she had never trained them. Hn, you may think that I miss treated a girl by taking her freedom and family away from her well you are right, I'm evil like that.

I had always left her alone in the house to clean up and even that, she would not go out and run away. When I come back, she is standing there, waiting for me. She is a loyal girl and very smart but sometimes I wonder or dare try to let her go.

I came back to my house in the forest and saw the table with pork, ramen and chicken on it; yep only for me. I didn't find her anywhere near the table or I could've sensed it.

"Lanoka"
She came downstairs with her same, torn, worn-down, red and white kimono with an apron.

"Yes Itachi-sama"

"Did you mop the floors and Wash the dishes”

"Yes"

"Clean up the living room and dust this living room"

"Yes Itachi-sama"

I placed my finger on the television and slide it across to feel some dust.

"The television still has dust"

She went on her knees and bowed down.

"Terribly sorry Itachi-sama, won't happen again"

"Make sure it wouldn't"

"YEs Itachi-sama"

"Go to your room"

She nodded and went to her room which I made the basement for that. She would never eat unless I let her, which was only 3 times every month and since she already ate twice in this month, I could decide when she'll eat.

*Lanoka's Pov*

As I went downstairs, it creaked every time I stepped on it. I looked what was around me, nothing but small windows all around me. My bed was only a mat and a blanket, no pillow or warmth in it. The basement would always be cold due to the cracks of some of the windows.

 

Whenever he would say, "go to your room", he meant "go to sleep" and so I lay down on my mat and wrapped myself with the thin blanket. Tonight was very different, usually around midnight, he would tell me to sleep but it was 9:00.As I gazed into the hypnotic moonlit sky, I fell into a deep sleep.

*Itachi's Pov*

I crept quietly in the basement and found her sleeping silently, facing the moonlight. Every time I check on her, she would sleep, facing the moon. I had noticed she has absolutely nothing in here, making me wonder why she hasn't complained.
I went upstairs in my room and noticed how many things I had: Pictures, drawers, cupboards real bed and clothes. Was it me who did that to her.

*Lanoka's Pov*

I woke up at the time Itachi-sama wants me to wake up at; 4:30 am. I started to make breakfast for him and only him. You would think that I should escape because he is only using me but if I did that, I would die. I may have excellent hearing and sight but I am very slow. He has also protected me from the men that wanted someone like me for my ability or sex. I knew he was nice but I never wanted to believe in it because my fear of being killed had surely taken over the Sama-being-nice thing. It was 5:00 and Itachi-sama was awake.

*Itachi's Pov*

I came down stairs and the table was filled with bacon, eggs, rice and ect. But that wasn't important. Lanoka was standing away from the table of food, just staring. I coughed and she noticed it instantly.

"Morning Itachi-sama"

She bowed politely as I sat down. I looked at her and decided that she could eat. She thanked me back.

She bowed and sat across from me. She waited for me to start to eat before she did and I did. When I finished, she was finished.

"I will be upstairs for the remaining of the afternoon so what I want you to do after you wash the dishes is rest"

"R-Rest Itachi-sama"

”Is there a problem?"

"N-No Itachi-sama, I will rest"

"You may do anything, just do not disturb me"

"Yes Itachi-sama"

I went upstairs but what she didn't know what that I had a crystal ball that was like a camera in every room, except the bathrooms and basement. As I watched after she was done washing the dishes, she stood near the door of her room. I had given her permission to do whatever she wanted and she refused, was I really that heartless.

Ding dong, ding dong

She went to get the doorbell to find 2 masked ninja. They suddenly took her and I went after them. She yelled.

*Lanoka's Pov*

The 2 masked ninjas covered my mouth.

"Shut up"

"Yeah, we've been waiting for you for our leader"

I tried to say something even though I was covered but it didn't work. I know it was a very long time since my ninja training but had no other choice and luckily my hands were free so I did the only jutsu I knew would work, the Red Dragon Jutsu, a ninjutsu that has the ability to control the person for a short period of time.

"Red Dragon Jutsu!"

The two masked ninjas stopped and released me.

"Now go home"

They started to jump and jump until the jutsu ended; I guess I haven't used it for a while. The two surrounded me until I bumped into a tree.

"Now we got you"

I fell on my knees, so this was the end.

*3rd Pov*

Lucky the man of the hour arrived with 2 kunais, cutting them from Lanoka. The ninjas backed away and looked around themselves while the scared girl quivered. The Uchiha appeared in front of the quivering girl with a kunia in his hand as defense.

"Leave her alone"

The scared girl lifted her eyes opened and saw he hero, Itachi Uchiha.

"Who do you think you are?"

"I could ask the same"

"We are the Serpent Twins and you?"

"Itachi...Uchiha"

The ninjas were terrified; Uchiha was a devil's last name since an Uchiha had killed their 3rd leader. They started to back away.

"L-Let's get out of here!"

"Right behind you"

The ninjas ran back humiliatingly as Itachi looked behind him. The once yet quivering girl fell and passed out, knowing Itachi, he could've leave her there but carried her back home, bridal style.

Who knew that someone with such cold eyes had a soft side? The new moon was here, meaning it was as dark as the shadows. The only thing leading him back is the light of the firefly. The Uchiha felt as if the lights were dancing around him with joy and hope but did he know why, nope. As the cold body slept on his bed, the Uchiha started to ponder,

"Why did the fireflies help me and did they knock her out"

Many questions about what just happen roamed through-out his mind saying, why, and how come. But the Uchiha just left those questions to be answered by the girl that was unconscious.

The next day, the Hanyou woke up, noticing the Uchiha, staring at the rising sun.

"I-Itachi-s-sama"

He turned to look at her and nodded.

"Lanoka, what happened?"

"I used the Red Dragon Jutsu and it wasted my energy"

"I understand. Seeing you are still weak. I will clean"

"N-No it's okay Itachi-sama, I will"

As the fragile girl stood up, she immediately fell to her knees. Itachi saw that she still didn't have her energy to clean but Lanoka was persistent.

"If I may, Itachi-sama but I do not want to be a burden"

 

……

"Stay here"

Said the worrywart and down the stairs he went to come back with a moist towel and placed it on her forehead, thus making her blush.

"Is that a hint of red on your face?"

Knowing Itachi, he did not like lying so the small girl did a small nod. Even if she did lie, Itachi had also lied himself. In fact, he really cared for the girl.

*Lanoka's Pov*

Why did I blush, oh man why did I blush anyway? I looked down and blushed even more.

"Very cute Lanoka"

I looked up with only a tint of pink on my face. His eyes were cold like before but his smile was so warm and alive. He went very close to my face and gave me a kiss. It was so confusing and yet I really enjoyed it. He released and pinched my nose softly.
"You are so cute when you make that face"

 

I may be cold and ruthless and I know I treat you so differently but I would never hurt you. You are my firefly that had shown me the way through my heart. No matter what happens, I will always love you, my firefly.
