Chapter 2 He Hides Behind The Mask
Sakura could picture the exact look Kakashi had given her before Genma had ushered her out the door of the pub. He looked like he was glaring at his friend, yet silently begging her not to go. Genma's warm hand clasped hers as he walked her down the empty sidewalk towards her home.
“So Sakura, did you have fun tonight?” Genma smiled warmly at her looking at her from the corner of his hazel eyes.
“Yes, it was fun Genma. Thank you for taking me.” She looked up over at him with her jade eyes.
“It was no problem, plus I had the sexiest date in the whole bar.” His deep voice muttered, a slight blush formed over Sakura's pale cheeks.
The elder jounin couldn't help but smile at her cuteness. With a tug of his arm he pulled her a bit closer as they walked, his hand now on the small of her back lightly gripping the side of her hip. Sakura held her eyes forward and blushed a bit more as she felt his eyes on her. She couldn't tell if that was a good thing or bad.
The couple walked up the steps to her apartment and Sakura turned to look at him as she approached the orange tinted door. He looked down at her smiling softly waiting for her to find the words.
“Thanks again for the wonderful time.” She whispered leaning up on her tip toes and wrapping one arm around his neck pulling him down slightly. His chestnut brown hair tickled her cheeks as he bent in ward to meet her lips. They kissed each other delicately at first before he tilted her chin up deepening their kiss. His warm hand slid from her cheek to her neck drawing slow lazy circles as his other arm wrapped around her waist yanking her closer.
Sakura's moan was swallowed by his hot mouth as his tongue slid in to her mouth and stroked hers. The hand on her neck reached back some tangling a piece of her pink hair in his finger as he broke free from the kiss. He continued to twirl the pink loch as he spoke.
“Go out with me….Be here for me when I get home from missions. Accompany me out, please Sakura-Chan?” He whispered in her ear placing a kiss on her temple.
“….” She hesitated thinking about what a relationship with the playboy nin could do to her. She had nothing to lose and nothing to gain but Genma himself, it seemed reasonable. Who knew? Maybe she would even turn out to truly love him.
“I will…” She whispered quietly as he leaned in for another breath defying kiss. He left her seeing stars and heaving for breath as he walked back down the old stair well. His hands in his pocket as one hand placed the familiar sebon between his lips.
Sakura smiled and twisted her key in the lock of her door before wrenching it open and plopping herself on the other side of it on to her hard wood floor. A small blush stained her face and she vaguely wondered how long it would last as she heaved her self up and traveled to her bathroom. Sakura stripped herself of her clothes and shoes and twisted the shower nozzle her mind full of the nights events.

It was barely seven o' clock when Sakura's alarm went off next to her ear. Her face twisted in to an annoyed look and she quickly slammed her hand on the dial. The instant blaring quickly hushed and Sakura moaned as her body rolled over. She yanked the sheets off her barely covered form as she padded off to the bathroom.
She stood there in her white bra and white panties brushing her teeth while trying to tie on her headband. Quickly rinsing out her mouth she wiped her face and headed to her closet shuffling her feet across the beige carpet of her room. She reached inside the large closet and pulled out her black jounin suit. Sakura dressed quickly and quietly as she finished off her hair and slipped in to her sandals by the door.
Stepping lightly, she almost crushed a small red rose that was left on her front door step. Her green eyes widened as she kneeled over to read the small card that was tied around it by a light pink ribbon.
“To A Sweet Cherry Blossom…”Sakura read aloud blushing as she picked up the rose and held it to her nose smelling its delicate scent. She closed her eyes, `Oh how romantic this is, I thought men only acted like this in the movies…' her thoughts wandered about as she snapped some of the excess stem off the flower and slipped the rose in to her head band to the left of her ear. The card she tucked in her kunai pouch, it was something she would want to look at later.
Now a new beat in her step she happily walked to the local diner for her usual coffee with her friends. It was tradition to meet the girls every morning there. Sakura made her way to the old place and slid the glass door open waving over to Ino who was always first. The life of a floral shop owner was nothing to be thrilled about.
“Sakura-Chan!” Ino smiled as her pink haired friend sat down.
“Morning…” Sakura was beaming now, the day was going smoothly.
“Oooh I know that look!” Ino teased but her blue ocean eyes snapped to the rose in her friend's hair. “That looks like the rose Genma bought from me this morning…” She muttered.
Sakura smiled and nodded. “He left it for me on my front door step after I told him I would date him…”
Ino's face lit up as Tenten and Hinata both came through the glass sliding door.
“About time Sakura!” Her blonde friend squealed. Something in Sakura made her feel that Ino was more happy then she was.
“What's so good Sakura-Chan?” Hinata asked, her voice low and quiet as usual.
“Yes, tell us the good news!” Tenten smiled plopping down in the booth next to Sakura as Hinata sat next to Ino. The waitress brought their usual order of a round of coffee and left.
“Well….you see….” Sakura was having a difficult time finding the words as she stirred in her sugar and cream.
“Genma-san asked Sakura to be his!” Ino squeaked sipping her coffee. Sakura's face turned bright red.
“Awww!” Tenten sighed. “Is that where the rose is from?” She pressed. Sakura's eyes darted over to her friend with the brown braids that hung down her shoulders.
“Yes, he left it on my doorstep this morning!” Sakura said quietly.
“That's very romantic Sakura-Chan!” Hinata smiled.
“Aww! I wish Neji would do something like that!” Tenten wrinkled her nose.
“Man, I wish Shika would do something!” Ino rolled her eyes. “And he calls me troublesome!”
The girls giggled.
“Then why are you two still together after a year?” Sakura pressed finishing off her first cup of coffee.
“Cause he's worth it, and the sex is mind blowing.” That was one thing about Ino, She was open and honest.
The girls broke out in to more fits of giggles. Ino stopped laughing when her blue eyes flicked over to the glass door again.
“Sakura-Chan….Genma's here to see you…” Ino smiled evilly. Sakura's face turned pink and her eyes widened as she turned herself in the booth seat to see. Sure enough Genma Shiranui was on his way over to her. He just winked at her as he walked up to the counter and asked a muffin and some coffee.
“Sakura-Chan you are so lucky!” Hinata squeaked, while the other two girls nodded.
Sakura rolled her eyes and sighed. “You guys are impossible.” She murmured as she stood up leaving the money for her coffee and waved goodbye to them all.
“I have to go check the mission status!” She smiled as she pushed open the door.
Sakura had only made it half-way down the cobblestone road before she spotted the silver haired jounin who had his masked face buried in his dirty book. She quickly and quietly walked over to him and stood next to him before standing up on her tip toes and whispering to him.
“Pervert.”
With that she giggled slightly as he turned to look down at her his one exposed eyebrow raised.
“I think you're jealous.” She could hear the playful banter in his voice.
“Why would I be jealous of that?” She pointed to the orange novel.
“Cause I spend more time with it.”
“Well yeah that's true….Hey! are you implying you love the book more than your old student?” She whined.
“Maybe!” He smirked beneath his mask and took off. Nothing but a clear patch on the sidewalk was left. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair as she continued on her way to the main building for missions.

“Sakura-Chan!” A loud voice greeted her as she walked out of the ANBU office with a folder in her hands. She hastily closed the folder and looked up at her blonde friend who came bounding up throwing his strong arms around her.
“Hello Naruto-kun” She laughed lightly as he squeezed her and smiled.
“How was your date last night?” He asked. Sakura's eyes widened, `Since when does Naruto care about my love life?' she wondered.
“It was lovely, Genma and I are now official.” She pointed to the rose she had in her headband. Naruto's eyes stared at the little velvet red rose that sat in her hair.
After a long silence, Sakura shifted her feet and her teeth began to gnaw at her bottom lip.
“Something wrong?” She asked as he kept staring.
“Oh, no….Congrats Sakura-Chan.” He muttered walking away from her and in to the ANBU building. Sakura raised an eyebrow and shrugged her shoulders not wanting to linger on the thought as of yet. She had to focus for her mission.
It wasn't long before Sakura found herself back in the old clearing where team seven used to practice almost daily. Her smile grew wider as she saw Kakashi leaning against a tree, his nose once more buried in the perverted novel. She jogged over and plopped down next to him setting her mission folder next to her.
“Good day Sakura” He murmured from beneath his black mask.
“Kakashi-sempai…” She hesitated. Her eyes were glued to the black fabric that covered his face. `I don't understand his reason for covering it up.' Her train of thoughts went on and on.
“Eh? Sakura?” Kakashi waved a gloved hand in front of her face.
“Oh sorry! I was just thinking…”
“About what?” he pressed.
“Why you always wear that mask and read that dirty thing!” she pointed at the orange book.
“Its….Complicated.” He muttered turning his attention back to the book, or so she thought. His one dark exposed eye was lingering on the rose in her hair. He somewhat wanted to snatch it out and stomp on it. He wanted to shake her by the shoulders and explain to her about how she and Genma don't match as a couple.
Not that anything like that has ever stopped him before. He swept his eye down her face and then her figure which sat bunched up by her knees. His eye trailed back up to her face meeting her gaze.
“Why do you always hide?” She murmured quietly reaching a hand over and brushing the edges of the thin fabric. Kakashi turned his head away slightly knocking her hand away. Sakura bit her bottom lip and wrinkled her brow. The more her thoughts lingered on him, the more she realized she spent more time with him than anyone else. The more time she spent with him the less she knew it seemed like.
“Kakashi….share with me…” She said quietly as he dog-eared the page in his book and put it away.
“Maybe another time…Shall we train?” He asked. She nodded and dropped the subject verbally. Yet, in her mind, a war was waging over why he never shared with her. She always told him her secrets.
The two jounins sparred for hours, both heaving for air as the orange sun set in the distance. Sakura was first to collapse. Her legs felt like jelly and her stomach was growling.
Kakashi held his hand down to her trying to keep her standing. “Come on, I'll treat you to dinner.”
A smile instantly broke out on her face and Sakura stood dusting off her black uniform. She leaned down and grabbed her mission folder and hugged it to her chest as she walked along side the old silver haired jounin.
Dinner had been nice, she was half-way through with her ramen before Sakura felt a hand at the back of her neck. It was warm and soft, yet a tad rough from hard working. A warm set of lips kissed her cheek and he sat next to her.
“Hey Genma.” She blushed as he put his arm around the back of her chair.
“How's my cherry blossom?” He asked her smirking as his hazel eyes looked her over.
“Tired from training I'm afraid.” Kakashi answered his visible eye creased into a smile.
“Yes…” Sakura sighed as she continued to eat.
“Too bad. I was looking for some fun tonight.” Genma smiled and winked as Sakura dropped the noodles that were on the end of her chopsticks.
“Uh…”She was speechless.
“I'm only kidding…I have more respect for you than that!” Genma argued. It was a good thing he said that, other wise Kakashi would have come unglued. There was nothing he hated more than a man disrespecting a woman, especially his Sakura.
