Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ night watch ❯ NIGHT WATCH ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Sasuke stoked the fire. He had always liked the night watch shift- he never really wanted to relive his childhood memories for the umpteenth time. He never really slept much unless he was incredibly tired.
He turned, Sharingan activated, towards the source of a small whimpering noise. Naturally, the Uchiha boy investigated it. He soon learned that it came from the tent where the rest of Cell 7 was asleep.
He slowly unzipped the opening, as not to cause noise and wake someone up. He quickly saw- and heard- Sakura sleeping very fitfully. She tossed from side to side, mumbling incoherent nonsense, which absolutely puzzled the young boy.
The kunoichi woke suddenly and sat up, a thin film of sweat making her glisten in what little moonlight showed through the opening of the tent. Her hair was clinging to her forehead and neck, and she brushed it out of the way. She rubbed her eyes, to make sure she wasn't dreaming anymore. She merely saw Sasuke as a silhouette, and it scared her slightly. "Who are you?" she mumbled in question, shifting her body back a little.
"Sakura, it's just me." Sasuke said, shifting so that his face had more light on it for her to see. "I was on the night watch, and it sounded like you had a nightmare." he said, sounding not like he cared for her, but for her mental stability. He gestured for her to come out and sit with him. "Come on. If we talk a while, you'll calm down so you can go back to sleep."
The pink-haired girl, still half asleep, made no apparent objection. Even Inner Sakura was still sleeping, so her motives wouldn't be influenced much. She stood, almost stepping on Naruto's head in the process, and left the tent.
She sat next to Sasuke on a log by the fire, being the only alternative to sitting on the ground. Sasuke was the first to speak, though. "Do you remember your dream?" He took a breath, knowing that the next thing he said would bring an unwelcome flashback. "My mother used to say that, if you had a nightmare and told someone what was in it, you wouldn't be afraid anymore." He said, slightly more mellow than usual.
Sakura's face contorted in half-asleep thought. "There was a weird and it showed up behind me and I screamed, because I was scared. I was in my bedroom back home, and my parents came in, and the shadow swallowed them- I got so scared, I cried…" she said, her hands gripping the hems or her very short shorts. She hadn't expected Sasuke to put his arms around her in a comforting gesture. She opened her eyes in surprise, but only half-lidded knowing she was safe and warm.
In his mind, Sasuke recalled the times his mother would hold him like that after he had a nightmare. It was if her arms were a barrier to protect him from his fears. The familiar warmth, the security, was what his kunoichi friend would now feel. He held her closer, whispering comforting phrases in her ear. "I won't let the shadow get you or your parents." He whispered.
The warmth of Sasuke's breath made Sakura blush. She'd always expected his touch, his very existence to be just as cold as the way he acted. Feeling the heated air on her delicate skin let her know that even ice had its melting point.
Seeing as Sakura was in a dreamlike state, Sasuke decided to test the waters, to do a little probing. "Sakura, what would you say if I told you I liked you?"
Sakura, nearly drunk on the night air, giggled slightly. "I'd be happy, probably."
"And if I said that I loved you? Even since the days at the Ninja Academy?"
"Then I'd be even happier. I'd be… really happy." A dazed smile graced her cherry lips.
This time, Sasuke spoke lower. "And if I were to kiss you, right here and now, with only the stars as our witness?" he whispered. "Would you kiss me back?"
"I would kiss you back. Of course I would kiss you back." Said the pink-haired girl, still a little hazy.
"Promise?"
"ummm… promise."
He tilted her chin upwards, just enough to graze his lips over hers. And as Sakura had promised, she kissed back, but to an extent. She still was half asleep, after all.
Only a few minutes later, the two had stopped kissing and sat by the fire. Sakura had fallen back asleep, obviously dreaming contentedly, with her head resting in Sasuke's lap. She made a happy little noise, like one made by a kitten being petted.
Sasuke ran his hand over the sleeping kunoichi's soft pink hair. "Not only are you pretty, you can keep a promise, too. Even if you are half asleep." With that, he picked her up, bride-style, and carried her back into the tent, then tucking her in. He woke Kakashi, who now had watch duty. He laid himself down, gingerly taking Sakura back into his arms.
I wonder if she'll forget this in the morning…
Ok, back by popular demand, I guess. I've gotten so many reviews telling me to make a second chapter for this, so here it is. Sakura after she wakes up.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. But a girl can dream, can't she?
Chapter 2
Ohayo, Sakura-chan
Sakura shifted slightly, her eyes fluttering open. The morning sunlight sifted through the thin fabric of the tent, and Sakura closed her eyes again. She heard a small clink made by Kakashi, who was cooking breakfast outside, probably still out there from the second shift of the night watch. Naruto, to her right, was snoring loudly and occasionally mumbling something about being the next Hokage. And Sasuke was…
Where exactly was Sasuke?
In her still half-asleep stupor, she couldn't tell. She was comfortably warm, and that was all she really cared about. She snuggled close to the warmth on her left, her eyes still shut from when she closed them after realizing the sunlight. She had expected to fall back asleep.
But they always say that you should expect the unexpected. That was precisely what happened at that moment in time.
The warmth wrapped a protective arm around her, drawing her closer to its body.
Then again, Sakura couldn't consider it an "it." Rather, she determined when pulled closer, "it" was a he. A very warm, and surprisingly cuddly he.
Her eyes shot open, face flushing a shade of crimson deeper than her dress, which she quickly realized wasn't on her body. Matter of fact, neither were her shorts. She was only clad in a small black tanktop and panties with little cherry blossoms and strawberries on them… which wasn't very much. Her legs, arms and a good portion of her stomach were left uncovered, save for the blanket that covered her and the warm guy.
Speaking of the warm guy…
Sakura looked up, lightly, as not to wake the sleeping form. To get a better view, she flipped onto her stomach, which made her lay almost entirely across him. Trying to push herself up to see the face of her "captor", she straddled his waist and attempted to push herself up. This was thwarted when the guy wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her down on top of him…
However, she did get to see his face. That face could only belong to one person…
Sasuke Uchiha.
Oh… oh my god. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my GOD! Sakura's mind was frantic. The guy she'd been crushing on- for Kami knows how long- had his arms wrapped around her waist, she was straddling him, and his hair was in disarray to a point that it was so erotic that her mouth went dry.
Dry. That was a little more than she could say for other parts of her body…
Evidently, she blushed so inhumanly hotly that the sleeping Sasuke felt the excess heat and woke up, slowly at first. The first thing he noticed upon opening his eyes was the vibrant, bedhead hair that belonged to the girl he kissed the night before. No amount of resistance could stop him from saying what he said next, considering it was early in the morning…
"Ohayo, Sakura-chan." He managed to smile, his eyes squinted from the morning light.
Said girl was floored. He didn't say "Get the hell off me, bitch," like she had half expected. He didn't even glare at her in the slightest, or say her name in a cruel or lifeless tone. He actually said it with feeling.
Contrary to popular belief, Uchiha Sasuke was NOT a living ice cube! This fact alone would mystify the masses.
Sasuke smiled. "You don't remember what happened last night, do you? I didn't think you would." Sasuke pulled her upper half down so that their faces were mere specks apart. By now, Sakura had stuff happening all over her body- Sasuke's hot breath tickling her cheek, his fingers slowly drawing little sensual circles on the small of her back, and- What the hell is that? Oh, oooooooooh. - something poking her inner thigh.
Sakura managed to work up enough guts to make a witty response, even with all the feathery touches all over. And she used her reserve energy to work her mouth into a sly smile, and a seductive glint in her eyes appeared. Her voice was smooth as silk and sweet as honey. "How about you give me a refresher course, sensei?" She said, inwardly congratulating herself for saying that.
Sasuke flipped the two, effectively placing Sakura on her back and Sasuke in the commanding top position. "Let's see if you like it better when you're fully awake." He said with a smirk.
Lips collided, this time with more feeling than the night before. Hands roamed, caressing and touching and experimenting with the other's body… of course, this evoked quite a few moans from the pink haired girl. Every sweet sound Sasuke elicited from the kunoichi was cherished by him, a surprise to the girl, and slept through by Naruto, who was still snoring beside them, but neither paid any attention to the still-sleeping kyuubi vessel… but the couple did not go unnoticed.
Kakashi looked up from his spot. That definitely couldn't have been one of the kids having a dream. Even he didn't have such a lucid dream, even after reading Icha Icha Paradisu and then going to sleep. A questioning look crossed his face- or rather, what little face you could actually see.
He stood, the turned around and peeked through the flap of the tent to see a certain Uchiha and a pink haired kunoichi involved in a very serious lip lock. And by serious, he meant bone-crushing, earth-shattering, iceberg-melting, fangirl-killing kiss.
That Yamanaka girl won't like this one bit… he silently thought to himself.
OK, ok, I know. This was a short follow-up to the first part. Well, I wrote it at like 2 in the morning after staying up and playing Naruto-based Dungeons and Dragons (yes, that it possible) and eating Cheetos and drinking Mountain Dew all day. So don't bitch at me. You try having that demanding of a schedule and get back to me.
Ok, this ends the saga of the night watch. I believe this will be one of the last SasuSaku stories I write, considering that I'm absolutely hooked on the pairing of Gaara and Sakura. Don't believe me? Try to picture the kids they'd have… like, little pink-haired pandas! Kawaii! OK, now I'll have to write a fic about that… See, this is what happens when you take one idea and shape it into almost 20 different things. I'd love to see any of you people live my life here.
