A/N: Hello and welcome to the dark chapter of this fic. Lol ^-^ I seem to have a thing about tragic things happening in my fics. But I don't know anyone who hasn't had any tragedy in their lives. This takes place about a month after Naruto left Konoha. Now chapter 4's flashback song. Trust me after you read this chapter's flashback the song will make sense.

Chapter 4
Three years earlier near the border of the Land of Lightning:
"We need to split up, Hinata you take the west, Shino you take the east and I'll take the south. Radio in if you see anything," Kiba stood up and kicked the dirt to erase the diagram he drew.
"Hinata, take this female beetle. Just in case," Shino offered. He knew the Cloud ninja tried to abduct her eleven years ago and he didn't trust them. He didn't give a damn if they were at peace or not.
"Thanks Shino-kun," she said putting the bug in her pocket.
"We'll meet up at the border outpost in 2 hours. Remember, don't be a hero, call in if you spot the suspect. Now, let's scatter," Kiba said.

Hinata had gotten about 3km before she sensed someone following her. She wondered if it was Kiba checking up on her. She kept leaping through the trees trying to get to the outpost and watching for the suspect. She sensed the person following her was beginning to catch up to her. That stupid Kiba, he's supposed to be sweeping the south. He needs to quit, she thought as she jumped to the next tree and stopped. Using her Byakugan, she scanned behind her to see just what the hell Kiba was up to, following her. Shit, shit, that's not Kiba! She saw that there were actually three Cloud ninja closing in on her. She flipped her radio on, "Kiba, Shino, I'm under..."

Shino frowned at the headset, "Hinata? Hinata, I didn't copy. Repeat, over." Nothing, just dead air. Well fuck, Shino thought, I should have never agreed to let her go alone. He summoned a male beetle, holding it up in front of his face he said, "Alright, you know what to do. Find Hinata-chan." The beetle chirped and then they were off.

Kiba glared at the radio, "Goddamnit Hinata, You've gotta talk louder. Tsch. Hinata? Oi! Come in Hinata-sama!" He figured him using her formal title would get a response, she hated when he called her that. A chill went through his body and Akamaru whined. He called out to her a few more times and got dead air. He called Shino, "Dude, what the hell is going on?"
"I don't know... When I call her, I get nothing but dead air..."
"Fuck you! Don't call it that!" Kiba screamed as he ran behind his dog.
"What else should I call it? That's its name... Really, is this the time to argue? We need to find her;" Shino took a shaky breath and followed the beetle's chakra trail.
"Dude, I fucking know that. Akamaru is on it now. Damnit, It's been twenty minutes already. Akamaru can't find anything and neither can I. Fuck," Kiba leaned over to see what his dog was pawing at, it was Hinata's weapons pouch. "This isn't good..."
"What isn't good? Kiba, don't leave me hanging... Kiba? Really..."
"I just found her weapons pouch, dude," Kiba said with a thick voice.
"Shit, how far behind are Kakashi and Neji? She's got a female on her... I'm trying to find her..." Shino stopped and rubbed his eyes. "Kiba, you need to find me," he said taking off again.
"At least 2 hours behind us, fuck, dude I'm on my way," Kiba responded, looking at Akamaru he said, "Come on, let's find Shino." The dog barked and took off running.

The cloud ninja are closing in fast, she thought as a kunai whipped past the side of her face. Another zipped past and nicked her upper left arm and another sliced her right thigh. She leaped for the next branch, Fuck, why do my leg and arm feel like they weigh a ton? she wondered suddenly drowsy. Ah, yes. Poison kunai, of course, was the last thought that went through her mind as she fell to the ground.

When she came to, she felt stiff and sore. "Falling out of a tree will do that," she mumbled through dry lips.
"Ah, you're awake Hyuga," the cloud jounin said to her.
"Where am I? Where have you taken me?" she asked not really wanting to know the answer.
"We want your Byakugan, Lady Hinata. We failed all those years ago, but we have you now," the jounin gave her an evil grin, “But, we're going to have some fun first. Your father murdered my father..." The jounin stared at her coldly, "I will avenge his death." He walked over to where she was tied to an exam table. He stood over her twirling the kunai on his finger. In one swift slashing motion he cut the rest of her clothes off, also cutting into her flesh. He licked the blood off of the knife, "Oh yeah, this is going to be fun."
Shino, Kiba... Please, someone... Naruto-kun, please... was the last thing she thought before she passed out from the pain.

"A nd when I came to again, I was on Kakashi-sensei's back heading towards Konoha. I was in ICU for 3 days. Shino saved my life with his beetle. Because of it, they were able to find me in time. The Cloud nin had me for 6 hours. We found out later that the jounin had run off from the Cloud village. He was a missing-nin, S class in the bingo book," she said averting her eyes away from his sapphire gaze.
"I don't get it," he started, {You wouldn't. Honestly Kit, do I have to spell it out for you?} Fuck off you, he screamed at the fox in his head. "Why couldn't Kiba and Akamaru track you? I figured they could have tracked you faster," he told her gently wiping the tears off her cheeks.
"I've never actually heard the explanation of that one. Tsunade-sama said it had been dealt with," she said pulling her shirt off to show him the scars from the incident. She turned slightly to the left so he could see the scar from the wound that almost killed her. She saw his eyes widen at the severity of the scar. Even with the Hokage's skill she still had a terrible scar.
He reached out to touch the scar. "Hinata-chan, why would you think this would be enough to scare me off? We're ninja, show me one ninja who doesn't have any scars," he said tracing the path of the scar. {It's not so bad, huh kit?}
She turned more so he could see the other scars on her back. His face didn't betray a reaction; she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Naruto-kun, there's more... There are scars I have that probably never heal. There were things that happened while I was unconscious," she said not wanting to finish. The tears started flowing again.
"I don't care, it doesn't matter. It doesn't change the person you are," he said. {Bad idea, kit. Really bad idea.} Stay out of this, damn you.
"Well, maybe that's your theory, but everybody's treated me like I've changed," snapped Hinata. "Now everyone treats me like some fucking china doll that's gonna break into a million pieces. Or they just stare at me! I don't know which is worse!" Now she was shaking and crying uncontrollably.
{I tried to tell you, but nooo, what do I know? You need to fix this kit,} Kyuubi said. You have a great talent for stating the obvious, fox. Why don't you just butt out for awhile. {Whatever. I'm going to sleep.}

He knew there wasn't a whole lot he could do to calm her down, so he poured her a drink and handed it to her.
She took the small cup and drank it in one gulp and handed the empty cup back to him.
Whoa, I can't even drink it in one drink, he thought as he poured her another. This time he set it on the coffee table in front of her. He was pretty sure she'd forgotten she was only wearing her lacy blue panties, not that he minded. A blush crept up to his cheeks. {What are you twelve? Just hopeless...} the fox sighed. I thought you were going to sleep, he growled in his mind. {Oh, I was going to, but this is just too priceless to miss, kit,} the fox laughed. I'm trying to be a gentleman, you stupid fox. {A what? Oh, don't make me laugh. Really kit, seriously. Does she have to write it out for you?} Butt the fuck out, I'm warning you, he yelled in his mind.
"Naruto-kunnnnn... Don't make me pour my own drinks, it's rude," she said in a slightly slurred sing-song voice.
He looked at the bottle, it was half gone! Man, her head is going to kill her in the morning, he thought. {No shit, kit. I hope you have some ibuprofen,} the fox chuckled. You very rarely make any sense, you know that? he snarked at the fox. {Are you getting snarky with me, kit? For her hangover, baka. Really, if Minato would of told me how stupid you were, I would've agreed to just go away,} Kyuubi said. Who the hell is Minato? What are you talking about? Naruto asked the fox. {You can't tell me you don't know your fath, er, Fourth Hokage's name. Namikaze Minato, the yellow flash of Konoha? Any bells ringing?} Sorry, no one's ever told me his name. Not even Pervy Sage. Everyone just calls him the Fourth, the Savior of the village, he said shrugging his shoulders slightly. {One day kit, I'll tell you all about him. I'm really gonna go to sleep now,} the fox yawned.
He poured her a fifth drink and his second, he learned a couple of years ago he wasn't a drinker. It riled the Kyuubi up and the fucker was already mouthy enough. He picked up the empty bottle and threw it in the kitchen trashcan. He glanced in the pot on the stove, potato soup. He stirred it and turned the burner off. He went back out into the living room and noticed that both her drink and his drink were gone. He laughed and pulled her up off of the couch and walked her to bed.

She crawled into the bed and snuggled under the covers, "Naruto-kunnnn... Will you lay down with meeee? Pleeaasseee?"
"Yeah, let me turn off the stereo. I'll be right back," he said heading out to the living room. She'll probably be out like a light when I go back in there, he thought. {I wouldn't bet the farm on that, kit,} the fox grumbled. I thought you were going to sleep. {I was, but you keep thinking. Tsch, stop it,} Kyuubi griped. He sneered at the fox to be quiet and went back into Hinata's bedroom.

She wasn't 'out like a light' like he thought she'd be, she was laying on her back staring up at the ceiling. "Naruto-kun lay down with me. Please?" she asked never looking away from the ceiling.
He lay down next to her and looked up at the ceiling. He couldn't figure out what was so fascinating about it. {Kit, don't look at the ceiling!! You've got a beautiful girl next to you, look at her instead!! Sheesh, do I hafta tell you everything?} the fox grumbled to him. You, fuck off now!!! I don't need your help thanks, he shot back to the fox.
She turned over on her side to look at him. "Naruto-kun, I love you, I've loved you since I first saw you at the academy," she said snuggling up to him and laying her head on his chest.
Oh yeah, he was very aware of the fact she was wearing only her sexy blue panties. He stroked her hair out of her face and ran his hand down her back. He heard her sigh and felt her snuggle closer. {Go ahead, kit. She wants you. Put her out of her misery. I know damn well you want her too,} Kyuubi yelled at him. Just stop it already, you flea-bitten fox. I'm not going to take advantage of her, he told the fox. He could feel her heartbeat slowing down and felt the tension drain out of her. He looked down and sure enough, she was asleep. He chuckled softly and pulled the blanket up over them both. He turned the bedside lamp off and drifted off to sleep.
