“I can conquer this with the ultimate powers of youth, determination, and hard work!” Lee glared at his desk, resolve written across his face. “I am certain that my pen is in there somewhere. Once I find that, I can begin to check through those assignments. Once the assignments are off of the desk, I will have enough room to organize that treaty. The meeting is not until tomorrow, so the agenda can wait until later. And now, to work!”

With great enthusiasm, Lee attacked the piles of paper on his desk . . . gently. He was trying to find the elusive pen that was causing him such difficulty. He could not check through the assignments if he could not write on them! The papers covered every inch of available area on his desk, and had begun to form piles that put Tsunade to shame. And all within a matter of days! The genius of hard work was quickly discovering that S-rank assassination missions were easier then running a village.

A stack of papers tipped precariously, and Lee lunged forward to stop the fall. In the process, the breeze from his shinobi speed rattled two more piles, making them sway. A quick move caught them both, but Lee had to lean on the desk to reach them. With an ominous rattle, the pile of scrolls that one of the aides had created started to collapse. Lee could only watch in horror as the cylinders scattered across his desk, knocking the piles of paper into each other.

It was a nearly silent disaster. An unstoppable wave of paper poured off of Lee's desk, fluttering around in complete disarray. Lee stared at the paper that had buried him nearly to his knees, his heart dropping. It would take days to re-sort everything! Reports and genin files and treaties and meeting agendas were all mixed together at his feet. A glint of metal made him turn his head, looking at his desk.

“Success!” Lee grabbed his pen and held it aloft.

“Lee.”

Dark eyes snapped to the doorway, focusing on the man standing there. “Yes, Gaara-kun?”

The Kazekage had the oddest expression on his face. Lee could not place it. Were his shoulders shaking?

“What are you doing?”

“I am working on my new duties! I have been learning many new skills since taking on some of Temari-san's Suna duties!”

There was a definite break in Gaara's voice. “Why are the papers on the floor?”

“Oh, well, that was not exactly intentional, but it did result in completing the first part of my assignment!”

“And what is that?”

Lee snapped his arm up in a modified good guy pose, showing off his find. “My pen!”

Gaara's head tipped forward as he stared at the floor, shoulders shaking.

“Gaara-kun? Are you okay?”

A soft, almost wheezing sound was coming from his fiancé.

“Are you choking? Do you need help?”

The wheezing got louder, and the shoulders shook harder. The rhythm was becoming familiar.

“Gaara-kun! You are laughing!”

The redhead nodded, eyes still on the floor, and his laughter barely audible.

“I have never seen you laugh before! But . . . “ Lee looked around his office, pen still brandished and papers shifting around his knees. “What is so funny?”

Gaara just laughed.
