Dagger: Hello, ya’ll. Don’t ask me what this chapter’s gonna be about because I’m not really sure. I’m bored and starving, so anything that happens is due to boredom and my spastic voices, who are apparently the equivalent to plot bunnies. They get in fights a lot and cause major migraines………Except Bob. He’s my favorite, and they all know it. He’s depressed, like me, but really sweetunlike meand calm when he’s not crying, sleeping, or flipping out.
Knives: She’s crazy, talking about her voices like their actual people. See what I have to put up with day in and day out?
Dagger: You wouldn’t have to live with it if you’d
BUY your own HOME!!!!!
Knives: Your house is nicer.
Dagger: If you don’t want to leave, then don’t complain about my living habits and soundproof your damn room!
Knives: ….Why?
Dagger: *sighs heavily and with exasperations* Darling Knives, as much as I enjoy your koibito’s company, I really don’t want to hear him moan and scream all night.
Knives: Why not?
Dagger: ………..I wish Snow would kill you for me.
Knives: But then your like would be boring without me.

Chapter Ten: You Belong To Me

Naruto, laying in fox form next to his wolf-formed Sasuke, raised his head alertly from slumber. A strange scent was flowing in from the outside of the warm den and invading his senses, and his ears twitched vigilantly. Frowning a little, a small twang of recognition tickled the back of his mind, but he couldn’t quite place the familiarity. Worried, he nudged Sasuke’s shouldeer, rousing him.

“What is it, koi?”
Sasuke asked, nuzzling the fox’s scruff.

“I smell something….wrong,” Naruto whispered. “I know the smell, but I don’t like it. I don’t know who it belongs to.”

Sasuke immediately tensed and went into “angry protective mode.” he stood and sniffed the air. “I don’t sense anything. Are you sure?”

“Positive.”
Naruto stood and crept out with Sasuke following at his haunch, ready to jump in front if he had to defend his mate. They went to the mouth of the cave where a blood-red fox sat, but Naruto knew that wasn’t the scent he was sensing.

“Hello, otouto,” the other fox said in a deep voice. “Do you remember me?”

Naruto stared at the other’s amber eyes and leaned forward to tentatively catch the fox’s scent. It struck a cord in him, and he paused, searching memory banks. “I don’t remember, but I’m gonna guess that you’re my brother?”

“Ah, acute, otouto. I am your aniki.”
He gave a fox grin of pride and approval. “I see you are almost to full strength, tell me, otouto, do you sense your increase in chakra?”

Naruto sat and curled his eight tails around him while the blue-black wolf sat close beside him, their coat brushing each other and exchanging body heat from one mate to the other. He thought about it, focusing on the inner well located between stomach and heart, and he saw the red chakra within had combine with other colorsblue, gold, green, white, and dark, dark purple that was almost black. He concluded that the represented all the different elements he had possession of. Eventually, in answer to his brother, he nodded shortly.

“Not much of a talker, are we?”
the other fox said with amusement. “I am Kyuubi, by the way, in case your packmates haven’t told you already. I already know your name.”

Naruto didn’t bother asking now. “Arigato for saving me, aniki.”

“I wouldn’t have done anything else. You are my otouto and only living relative; I was not going to lose you, too.”

“What brings you here, Kyuubi-san?”
Sasuke inquired, unable to keep his curiosity at bay any longer.

“To help defend your pack and to ask permission to join it,” the blood-red replied, looking straight at the pack leader.

“Why help defend?”

“Because our little Naru-chan’s former master has finally found where he is. He has brought reinforcements to assist retaking Naruto back.”

“That is the scent!”
Naruto burst out. “It’s been so long that I couldn’t place it immediately, but it’s Gaara’s scent that I’m sensing.” In truth, it had been four months since he’d been in contact with his former owner.

“Really, otouto? He is not even within a mile from us, and you can sense him?”

Naruto nodded, confused. “I can also sense his brother and sister, Shino, Kiba, and….” He shuddered. “Sai and Kabuto,” he whispered the last. “There are also two others that I believe belong to Gaara’s siblings, though I have never met them.”

Strange….but one of those two smelled almost exactly like his mate. He glanced at said wolf before standing and stretching.

“Kyuubi, I will accept you into my pack as long as….”
Sasuke’s voice faded as the golden fox went into the cave to alert the other packmates of the oncoming battle.

~*~3 Hours Later~*~
Naruto perched upon his favorite spot atop the cave, watching the surrounding tree-line alertly. The other wolves were pacing impatiently. Rock Lee had horded his mate and children in one of the hideaways Naruto had discovered and led them to. Sasuke was pacing a trail into the ground, and Kyuubi sat almost lazily at the mouth of the cave, watching it all through half-lidded golden eyes.

The golden fox stood and tensed when he heard Kiba’s familiat bark as he tracked Naruto’s smell. He shifted nervously. He didn’t want to have to fight his childhood friend. Kiba had always protected him from other pets and had played with him when Gaara had allowed the kitsune to do so. It would break his heart to hurt him in return.

“Naruto!”
Kiba called, using the language of the Beasts so that the ninja following him didn’t know what he said; it sounded like a bark to them. “Come out and play with me, Naruto! I’ve missed you!” He’d always behaved like a puppy. His master, Shino, had always been so kind; Naruto didn’t know how he could be friends with the abusive Gaara.

A deep growl came from Sasuke, attracting the golden’s fox attention.

“Do not worry, baby,”
Naruto cooed soothingly. “We were childhood playmates, nothing more He still sounds like a puppy.”

“Do not harm him to badly,”
Kyuubi warned, speaking to no one in particular.

“Why?” Neji demanded.

“Because he’s Hinata’s mate.”

Hinata’s eyes widened. “M-my mate….is on the e-enemy’s side?”

“He doesn’t know he is the enemy,”
Naruto explained. “He is only obeying Shino, as all good pets do.”

Sasuke stopped pacing and braced his crouching body, snarling. Fifteen away, Shino, Kiba, Gaara, and Kankuro broke out of the tree-line. All the others crouched and prepared to fight.

“Which one, Naruto. Which bastard hurt you?”
Sasuke demanded in a gravelly voice.

“The redhead.”

“Betraying me, are we, Naruto?” Gaara asked in a liquid voice that sent shards of glass down the golden fox’s spine. “How disappointing.”

“I’ll show you disappointing when
I tear your head OFF! Sasuke roared, though he stayed in place, waiting for the rest of the enemy to snow themselves.

Sai and Kabuto came through. Kabuto was a tall man with glasses who looked like a scholar, and Sai was a large, sadistic panther. Naruto cringed at his second childhood oppressor. Then came Temari with two other animals held tightly on leashes: one was a gold-tan cougar practically towing her owner along, the other a large, black wolf with red-black eyes. The wolf, unlike the cougar, was beat down, shoulders slumped, and tail just a second from tucking between its legs.

Surprise and pain instantaneously came rolling in violent waves from Sasuke. Naruto nearly stumbled back from the force. “Itachi!?”

The wolf’s drooped ears twitched, and suddenly, there was absolute rage, unadulterated and scorching, flaming through the kitsune’s small body. His tails began to writhe, as though each had an individual life of its own, and his body began to stretch and enlarge. His delicate fangs grew stronger and longer, as did his claws. Power burned through him and pulsed through the air, sending fear through all of them there. And at the end of his transformation, his ninth and final tail sprouted.

Naruto launched himself off the cave and landed almost right in front of Itachi, slashed out at the blood-hungry cougar, and then suddenly bit hard on the leash holding the wolf that smelled so much like Sasuke. The wolf stared out him with wide, terrified eyes.

“Itachi! Attack now!” Kankuro roared.

Itachi leapt forward obediently as all the other wolves and the other fox joined battle. Naruto, who was now the size of a full-grown male tiger, pinned Itachi to the ground and bit the collar from the wolf.

“You’re free now, Itachi-san,”
he growled seductively, planting the seed of need for freedom in the broken ookami. “You are no longer a pet, just as I am not a slave. Your brother longs for you to fight alongside him.” He stepped off and whirled just in time enough to block an attack from the psychotic cougar. The bitch was lethal and angry, and she and Temari worked together, making it hard for him to defend himself.

Kyuubi was a little distracted by the Itachi-wolf. Something about him made the fox tingle. He watched, even as he fought the panther, as Itachi made it over to his brother and helped fight the wickedly cunning Kabuto. Hinata and Neji were up against Shino and Kiba, and Rock Lee was pitted against Kankuro.

Naruto had now concluded that both Temari and the cougar were absolutely insane. He had no regrets when he cut them down, leaving their broken bodies to bleed out. He whirled to catch a brutal kick to his side, so reminiscent of all those other times. How did everyone manage to forget about the strongest, most dangerous of their opponents. He let out a high-pitched yelp and lost hold of his chakra, shrinking to his most vulnerable state.

Sasuke saw it from the corner of his eyes an dwatched the small gold body fly, then hit ground and roll. Ignoring Kabuto, he ran right for his mate. Naruto struggled to his feet, only to see his tormentor’s sand coming for him. He ran and dodged it. A black body launched itself at the redhead, though the sand continued to pursue him.

Then a brown blur broke away from his opponent and crouched protectively over the gold fox. Shino stopped, sunglasses aimed at the scene as sand engulfed both animals.

The wolves yelped as bugs of all types, especially beetles, attacked the barrier, coming seemingly out of nowhere. Kiba was able to wrestle his way out and to drag the terrified, traumatized fox with him.

Sasuke battled Gaara in human form, rage fueling his attack, uncaring of his surroundings. How dare this man harm his Naruto? He would pay for all his past transgressions against that precious bundle of golden fur.

A yelp screamed out, and Naruto saw Kabuto gain advantage over Itachi, who cowered and back away, what little courae he’d mustered fading away without the assistance of his brother. The golden’s eyes snapped to Kyuubi. Kyuubi! Itachi is your mate!”

Kyuubi stilled, letting the announcement register before he raced to the wolf’s rescue, heart pounding. His body grew as he stood over his cowering mate, and then fire sprouted on Kabuto’s clothes before the nin could attack. Screams reverberated the through the forest as the moon thrashed.

Sai, on the other hand, went straight for Naruto. As the fox screamed in terror, Kiba, Neji, and Hinata attacked simultaneously. Three wolves weighed the big black body down, and Naruto skittered away to regain his chakra. Once he had it, he rushed to help Rock Lee dispose of Kankuro, after which Rock Lee ran to help with Sai.

All Kabuto’s thrashing had managed to set aflame three trees, distracting Shino, and the sand took its chance. A dozen spears shot through the bug-nin’s body, and the man gasped and crashed backwards to the ground, gurgled a moment, then expelled his last breath. Kiba howled in sorrow, pain tearing through his voice. He left the partner and charged Gaara, and Naruto in his battle form did the same by his best friend’s side.

“Sasuke!”
Naruto warned.

Sasuke jumped back, then changed to wolf, and all three of them assaulted Gaara at the same time. They bit into vital points of the body and held on, even as sand tried to desperately invade their lungs, but that fell away when their thrashing, convulsing enemy fell dead. Naruto stumbled back and sat down heavily. His mate released his hold as well and sat with the fox between his forepaws. He licked the top of the golden head and forced his heat into the trembling body.

“Thank you, Koibito,”
Naruto whispered.

“You belong to me, Naruto. No one will ever try to take you from me ever again.”
