“Kuso! The ANBU are close! We have to get out of here with her!” A ninja said, holding a 15-year old girl. She had used up all her Chakra, and was now unable to fight back. Her long, black hair was usually held back in a ponytail, but her locks were cut short by the man's kunai. Her dazzling emerald eyes looked dull from exhaustion and started filling up with… blood. The two sound ninja stood there slightly roughed up. They nodded to each other and headed for their land. But they started too late: an ANBU with gray hair and a cat mask quickly, yet quietly caught up to them. The two sound ninja almost passed the Leaf Village border, when a branch that popped out of nowhere tripped them. They fell from the tree, letting the girl drop to her death. But, luckily enough, the same gray-haired ANBU caught her just before she reached the ground. He placed her gently against a tree and walked up to the two sound ninja
“You think it's funny?” the ANBU said through his cat mask. “Stealing a girl away from her home?” he took one sound ninja by the collar and brought him up to his face. “Why did you try to take one of the Torahito clan members?”
“We just wanted some fun with her.” The other sound ninja smirked. In a split second, he was thrown against a tree with the ANBU inches away from his face.
“She was one of the few with the special bloodline trait. Did you kidnap her for that?” the ANBU's voice growled. “It couldn't have been to just have fun with her, or you would have chosen someone easy to take.
“We won't tell you any-” the first sound ninja mumbled behind the ANBU before he gave out a loud grunt of pain and fell over. The ANBU turned around slightly to see the girl holding a shuriken, tears, or blood, spilling from her eyes.
She looked at the ANBU, saying, “Well, you should be promoted. I don't see your teammates anywhere.”
“They had to deal with the other eight that tried taking your brother.” The ANBU muttered. As they spoke, the sound ninja slowly pulled out a kunai. He was ready to stab the ANBU that held him against the tree, when the girl's shuriken whizzed and stabbed the ninja right in the throat. He just stood there, wide-eyed, dropping the kunai. After a couple minutes, his eyes glazed over, his head drooped, and his body went limp.
When the ANBU checked to make sure he was dead, he walked over to the girl, and tried to pick her up bridal-style. But, she pushed him away, saying, “I'm injured, but I'm not dead.”
“If you try walking, you might be.” The ANBU said.
She glared at him. The ANBU shuddered slightly when he looked into her eyes: the dazzling green color was hidden behind the blood. Her pupils were the only parts that weren't wavered by the disturbing red color. All in all, she looked like a demon, ready to pounce on him. Well, a rather cute demon.
She turned towards the village and took step. Immediately, she collapsed, but was luckily caught by the ANBU. He looked through the slits in his mask down at her. She was out.
“Now you have a reason.” The ANBU said and jumped through the trees towards the Village.
He finally arrived at the Torahito household to see a boy waiting outside. When he saw the ANBU with the girl, he ran over to them.
“Is she alright?” the boy asked. He looked no older than 13, and had the same green eyes as the girl. The ANBU immediately recognized him as the girl's brother.
“No.” The ANBU replied. “She has blood in her eyes. She might be suffering from something critical.”
“Oh,” the boy looked relieved. “Don't worry about the blood in the eyes, she must have used part of our bloodline trait. Can you please come in?” The boy showed the way to what appeared to be the girl's room. The ANBU set her down and was about to leave when the boy said, “Can you please stay with her?”
“I'm sorry,” the ANBU replied. “My mission isn't done yet.”
“When you're done, can you? My sister may have pushed you away, but she actually means well. It was the aftershock that was talking.”
“…What?”
“I'll explain if you come back.”
The ANBU stood there, thinking. If he stayed, he wouldn't be able to get a girl for the cherry-blossom viewing party. It was two weeks away, and even Guy found a girl. But, then again, he could just ask this girl. On the other hand, someone may have asked her already. However, he did want to find out about the family's bloodline trait. He had only heard it was special, but he wanted to know more about it.
“Fine.” The ANBU replied. “I'll be back soon.”
“Thank you… Hatake Kakashi.” The boy smirked. Kakashi whipped around, looking at the boy again.
“How did you…” he asked.
“You have the Sharingan eye, and yet aren't connected to the Uchiha clan in any way. It was kind of obvious. I promise to tell you what I know about our clan, but you must come if you want to find out.”
By the time Kakashi was finished with his mission, at was already midnight. Before he could change into other clothes, he made his way to the Torahito household and rang the small bell. The door slid open slightly to reveal the boy.
“Good.” The boy said. “I was thinking you weren't coming.”
“I don't break promises.” Kakashi said, stepping into the house. Once the door was closed behind him, he removed his mask to reveal another mask, but this one only covered half of his face. His eyes looked around the place: very clean and decorative. He looked over to the boy, who shuddered.
“I knew you had a bloodline trait,” the boy said. “I just didn't think it would be so scary.”
“Then, if it scares you, it will scare your sister.” Kakashi was about to put the mask on when the boy stopped him.
“No, she won't be scared.” The boy smiled at the AMBU. “She will actually just ignore it.”
Kakashi set his arm down and followed the boy to the girl's room. It was actually longer than Kakashi thought. They made at least five turns before coming to their destination. They both entered and sat there, waiting for her to wake.
“Oh,” the boy said. “I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Torahito Kenko. Matsu,” he pointed to the girl that lay unconscious. “She's my older sister. She's probably your age. She's 14.”
“Yeah,” Kakashi answered. “I'm 14 also. So, you were saying that you would tell me about your bloodline trait.”
“Oh, yes. As you know, Torahito means `tiger person'. In every generation, a selected few in the Torahito clan are given one part of the bloodline trait, the Tiger's Eye, and another few are given the other part, the Tiger's Tail. There are even times when one will get both traits. My sister is one of them.
“The Tiger's Eye can pinpoint weaknesses in everything. It then searches through the opponent's head for his or her worst fear. It shall then animate it within the opponent's head, weakening his or her weak spot even more. Once this is done, a ninja can attack that point with the slightest pressure, but what happens is that that point, if it's the heart or the brain, or any other organ, shuts down instantly.
“But, once the Tiger's Eye is used, it has an aftershock on the user. It animates the users worst fear and temporarily redirects blood through the eyes. Many in our family have been trying to find a way to stop this, because if the Tiger's Eye is used more than once, not only does the user fall into a deep depression, but can also lose control of the body, since the blood is being redirected. This can cause the brain to overpower one's will and command the body to commit suicide.
“The Tiger's Tail requires someone with really long hair. My sister, right now, doesn't have the required length, but luckily, the bloodline can make the hair grow faster than normal. The Tiger's Tail requires a few hand signs, but after those hand signs, the hair to do a great deal of things. It becomes like a third hand. It's harmless to the user, which makes it useable many times. My sister told me that if she were to be able to braid her hair, she could not only use the regular attributes for it, but also something else. I can't remember what, but she seemed happier than she always is.”
“So, are there any added effects in the bloodline?” Kakashi asked.
“Yes, there are. Almost all of the women born into the clan suffer from a mild depression. My sister is one of them. That's why she might have pushed you away when you were trying to help. But, she didn't ask for it. She wanted to be free from the mental effects of our bloodline. She wanted be just like our mother.” Kakashi could hear Kenko's voice crack slightly.
The boy continued, “… Our aunt thought that Matsu just thought that she had it, since women in the Torahito clan usually catch the depression from their mothers, like a cold, and our mother was outside of the Torahito clan. But, our father had always gotten drunk and abused our mother. One night, he came back and saw her talking and laughing with our uncle on our father's side. They were just conversing, but our dad thought that she was cheating on him. So he killed her. Matsu and I were there, and we saw the whole thing. Our uncle tried defending our mother, but our dad just killed him, too. Once the fighting was over, there was blood everywhere. Then, our dad suddenly felt depressed and killed himself. We now are living with our aunt, but she didn't know that our dad killed our mother and uncle. She just thought that he came back and saw them there, dead, so killed himself, too.”
Kakashi just sat there, too shocked to say anything. `They suffered through all of that? I don't think I could have handled just living if that ever happened to me. It's amazing how she could survive that.'
Kenko looked up at Kakashi and continued, “That's why she pushed you away. She has only trusted the Fourth Hokage, our aunt, and me. That's why the Hokage has taught her personally. She had frustrated her last ten sensei. But, if you give her proof that you can be trusted, she might just trust you enough that you can talk to her alone.”
“I doubt it.” A girl's voice came. They looked over at Matsu seeing her sitting up very slowly. Kenko ran over to her with a wet washcloth and wiped at her eyes. Kakashi came over, but not as close to see blood on the washcloth.
`Man, I have to get used to that.' Kakashi thought. `I might find her training with it.'
“So,” Kenko started. “Why do you doubt that he can be trusted, Matsu?”
“He has the Sharingan.” Matsu said. “He'll be able to tell what I like and don't like.”
“I have promised many people that I would only use my Sharingan in battle.” Kakashi stated. “I promise you the same.”
“Promises are made to be broken, Hatake Kakashi.” Matsu glared at him, but this time, no blood was there to intimidate him.
“I have yet to break any promise that I have made. Don't worry, Matsu, I don't I would want to break any promises with a personal student of the Fourth Hokage.”
“You just did.” Matsu spat, getting out of her bed.
“Actually,” Kenko stepped in. “I told him about that. Uh, was I supposed to?”
Matsu just stared and slowly made her way out of her room. She stopped at the door and muttered, “Fine. I'll give you a chance, Hatake Kakashi. If you can prove to me that you can be trusted, then you'll have another ally. If not, then you'll have a new enemy.”
“I promise to do my best.” Kakashi smiled. Matsu just rolled her eyes, slid the door open, and left.
