Hiccup Hiccup

No one remembers… I don't understand the pain… It happens every year, why did I think that this year would be any different? Why did I think otherwise? Naruto thought as he walked through the path towards his home.

He thought of Iruka and sighed. No need to take it into account that he's too busy with Kakashi anyway. He snorted; even a crowbar could not separate the two. No wonder even Iruka seemed to have forgotten.

Reaching his house, he opened the door and went inside. Pushing back the tears, he resolved to stay in his residence for the whole day. After all, it was kind of depressing to think that other people are celebrating the Kyubi's defeat on your birthday, the same Kyubi who he now called his older brother.

Sighing again, he took of his hitai-ate to let his gold locks fall and frame his forlorn face. Brushing hem away for a second, we could see two tear drops glide on his pale cheeks. Feeling suddenly tired and pained, he lay on his futon to sleep… hoping to forget the reason of his depression.

Outside his home, a shadow detached himself from the tree beside the house. Silently, he walked the path to the door and knocked.

Groaning, Naruto woke up to the noise. Shaking his head in desperation, he hid his head under his pillow to block out the sound.

Nothing. Whoever it was, was persistent. He had continued knocking eventhough Naruto clearly didn't want to be disturbed. Rubbing his eyes in a childlike manner, Naruto shouted to the stranger. "Leave me alone!"

Silence. Shrugging, Naruto sighed as his supposed visitor quieted.

He must have left. Naruto thought as he stared at the patterns on his ceiling.

Knock Knock.

He's still here?!!

"I said, leave me alone!!!" He shouted again as he closed his eyes wearily. Silence again. Thinking the person had already left, Naruto stood up to leave his house. He wished to train, relieve his anger and sadness by exchanging it with physical pain. Opening the door, he briefly closed his eyes as the sun brightly shone before him.

"Naruto." A voice murmured beside him. In surprise, he shrieked, his hand involuntarily holding his chest to steady his rapidly beating heart. The person behind him fell silent.

Blinking a bit, Naruto examined him with his eyes before shouting out in glee. "I know you!!!"  Naruto jumping up and down a bit, he (the stranger) sighed, forcing himself not to smile at the sight presented before him.

"…"

"You're dog-face and Hinata's teammate!!!" (Yes, he's who you think he is.)

"…"

"Shi…"

"SHINO!!!!! Where are you?!!" A voice cut of his words. It was Kiba, looking for his male teammate as said teammate stared at the blue eyes of the blonde before him.

Blinking, Naruto asked him. "Aren't you going back to your teammates? They seem to be looking for you."

"…" Silence again.

"Shino?"

Again his question was met with silence. But as he watched, Shino dug his hand into his pocket to pull something out. Presenting it to Naruto, he took the blonde's soft hands in his and placed the object there.

"Eh? What's this?" The oblivious blonde boy asked.

"…"

"Shino?"

Shino smiled, his hand brushing away Naruto's blonde locks, he whipered. "Happy birthday, Naruto."
