Chapter Two: Mixed Views

 

Sasuke's fifth period Literature class sat in the dull silence with no teacher in their sights. Even the faint ticking sound of the second hand on the clock was tuned out from their hearing. The announcement of their teacher being tried for two counts of rape of one of their classmates still lingered within their minds. Nara Shikamaru broke the silence by releasing a sigh and began tapping his pencil on his desk.

 

The door opened, ceasing the tapping, and it revealed their principal, Tsunade, walking in. She scanned the students in the room and could see that everyone was present except for two: the person who reported the incident and the defendant's little sister. She released a sigh and leaned against the front of the desk as she faced the class. She could feel no emotion coming from any of the younger ones; it was complete stillness.

 

She began, “I know that the sudden removal of your teacher is a big change and I know out of all seven of his classes, this class was the one where he connected the most. I know that you've probably been updated by the local news about Mr. Uchiha's current placement; he is under house arrest and is unable to come near this school…or have contact with Naruto before his trial”

Shikamaru broke the students' silence, “It's a load of bullshit”

“Shikamaru, the principal is in the room,” Yamanaka Ino scowled

Tsunade shook her head, “No, it's alright Ino; I'm giving you all the opportunity to express yourself on this fairly serious matter”

Inuzuka Kiba sat back in his chair, “I always knew our teacher was a homo; I think he raped Naruto flat out”

Shikamaru looked at the Inuzuka, “That's bullshit, Naruto has been praying on Sasuke since day one; he's filled with shit”

Akimichi Chouji looked at Shikamaru, “Isn't Naruto one of our friends?”

“C'mon Chouji, sure he's our friend but you have to admit he's been going after him ever since he's been here”

Tanishima Tenten argued, “Oh please, Sasuke raped Naruto; I bet you he threatened Naruto to stay in the damn relationship”

“I agree,” Ino repleid, “Sasuke is older and he should know better than to mess around with some teenage high school student”

Haruno Sakura nodded, “Yeah, you just don't out right start something; who knows what Sasuke did to Naruto. He could be violating his sentence now for all we know”

Sabaku Gaara looked at his girlfriend, “Like really, how stupid do you think he is?”

“C'mon Gaara”

“He didn't do it, Naruto has been planning this shit from the start; I bet the whole relationship wasn't even Sasuke's idea”

“Gaara is right…,” Hyuga Hinata spoke, “It's probably all Naruto's doing”

Sakura looked at the Hyuga, “That's a lot to say for someone who was madly in love with him”

“Fuck off Sakura,” Kiba growled as he wrapped an arm around Hinata

 

As the views on the whole case were exchanged Tsunade's gaze drifted to the far corner to see the only person who decided to remain silent: Hyuga Neji. The pearl eyed boy kept his head down on his desk and stared out the window viewing the same scenery he saw five days a week. The female thought back to the reaction the male Hyuga had to Sasuke's arrest; it was one of indifference yet it was also one of remorse. To see two completely different emotions mixed into one expression had caused the principal to be a bit suspicious.

 

“What do you think Ms. Tsunade?”

Tsunade looked at Sakura and cleared her throat as she looked at the class, “Well Mr. Uchiha is a very loyal being to the staff of this school and he's a very excellent worker. Yet even with that with this against him I don't know how to completely determine his credibility in this situation. As for Naruto he usually is a known troublemaker when he wants to be but to see him outright lie about such a serious matter is something I can hardly believe but I can't entirely rule it out as a possibility. So you could say I'm hung in the middle”

Shikamaru threw the first question, “But don't you find it kind of odd that it was even reported in the first place?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well you did say Sasuke is an excellent worker which means as a young teacher he knows the difference between right and wrong within a school's facility. For him to even deliberatly start a relationship with Naruto and, also, rape him doesn't sound very in place”

“Looks can be deceiving,” Tenten commented

Shikamaru looked back at the female, “That may be true but you can'tjudge a book by its cover; this is a case of constructed off of false accusations. I'm telling you, if Sasuke is found guilty, then it just shows that any student in any facility can scream `rape' and the person accused can be jailed for it”

Kiba remarked to this theory, “So what you're saying is that every person accused of rape is innocent?”

“No, I'm saying that at least a quarter of the people accused of rape are innocent”

“That leaves a seventy-five percent chance that he's guilty”

“But if the jury actually looks pass certain holes placed in this case, then the twenty-five percent chance of him being innocent will surface much quicker”

 

The bell sounded ceasing the conversation and the students removed themselves from their respective seats filing out of the classroom. When the principal saw each student walk out the door she stopped the male Hyuga from follwing behind.

 

“Do you have any thoughts on this matter Neji?”

The male remained silent for a moment before answering the given question, “I don't know what to think…but at the same time, I know whose right and whose wrong…in the back of my mind that's what I know…I wantto say it but, at the same time, I don't…and with all that, I don't even know how I feel…”

Tsunade raised an eyebrow, “I see…do you know where Chishio is?”

“She called me and said she was wasn't coming…she said she couldn't take the ridicule”

“What about Naruto?”

Neji released a sigh, “He's been skipping all day”

 

The male Hyuga departed from the classroom still stuck within his own confusion. The grand perplexity he invented with his thoughts was blocking him from the one thing that could fix this situation. To bring himself to accept that Sasuke deliberatly rape Naruto was not something he couldn't do nor could he accept that Sasuke outright started a clandestine relationship with the Uzumaki. Yet with that in mind Neji didn't doubt that two had a relationship; he had a pretty good feeling they had it in for each other. Neji didn't believe Sasuke really did anything but he couldn't wholly trust him either; the same went for Naruto.

 

The hyperactive, adorable, lovable blonde was the one thing that was clouding Neji's judgment on the matter. The brunette knew the Uzumaki since he was in grade school and he saw that Naruto could be, both, a wonderful guy and a bad ass troublemaker. Naruto possessed a heart of gold and he had a devious mind; he could compliment anyone until they die and he could lie in a heartbeat and get away with it.

 

Neji made the decision to skip sixth period; he had European History and one thing he knew about Naruto was that he was a natural born Euro whiz. The odds of him not going to the class don't really exist but it was a fairly thin strand that couldn't be considered a line. So to pass the time he walked outside and decided to walk around the school grounds.

 

The Hyuga didn't fully believe Naruto was telling the truth but he couldn't rule out the possibility that he wasn't lying. Naruto had issues when it came to criminals especially people who were charged with rape; the blonde found it demeaning for any person to strip an individual of their dignity in such a harsh way. To believe that he was falsely screaming `rape' to the world; it didn't seem possible but Neji knew his credibility for protecting the bubbly blonde couldn't be completely counted for.

 

Whe Neji turned the corner he came face to face with the accuser and he sighed, “What are you doing out here?”

Naruto rolled his eyes, “I should be asking you that; aren't you afraid your grade point average will drop a point?”

Neji ignored the childish comment, “You've caused chaos within those walls Naruto…with the accusation about you and Sasuke everyone is becoming twisted on different views”

Naruto eyed the Hyuga suspiciously, “I sensed a bit of jealousy within that pause,” the blonde stepped closer to the brunette, “I bet even in the mixup you're mad that I had a relationship with Sasuke”

“Of course I'm angry, this is a se-”

Naruto cut him off by pushing him into the brick wall, “That's not what I'm talking about Neji and you know damn well I'm not,” a small smirk was created with the blonde's lips, “I bet you're mad I was with someone else and not you”

Neji looked into the blonde's sapphire orbs, “Don't be ridiculous”

“Don't give me that bullshit Neji”

“You're the one who's speaking bullshit”

“Right,” Naruto ran his hands up Neji's shirt, “Do you really expect me to believe that you don't miss me? How you used to hold me? How you used to kiss me?” the blonde ran his hands up Neji's back and whispered in his air, “How you used to fuck me?”

Neji pushed Naruto away, “You're sick…”

Naruto walked back over to the Hyuga and stroked his cheek, “You've known me for years Neji and out of those precious years we went steady for five”

“Until you ended it like a fucking bastard”

Naruto was a bit taken back, “Now I'm a bastard? Did it hurt that much?”

Neji glared at the blonde, “You have no idea what I had to go through you fucking prick,” he slapped his hand away

“You don't really believe I'm lying about this whole rape thing do you…?”

Neji's glare disappeared and he turned his head away stuffing his hands into his pockets, “That's just it…I don't know…you can be so genuine…but behind that you can construct a lie that could drive any lawyer to suicide…”

 

The Hyuga could hear the footsteps of the sophomore leaving him and he remained against the brick wall. He could take either side but how can you take a side when you can't even understand what you know?

Sasuke sat there at the living room table listening to the ticking of the grandfather clock. He was waiting for the arrival of his older brother who he really didn't feel like seeing but knew that his thoughts weren't going to delay his arrival. Yet he did have one thing to thank his brother for and that was Sagome; if he wasn't in a relationship with her for as long as he was, then he probably wouldn't be stuck with a great lawyer let alone a decent one.

 

The young teacher heard the door slam and he sighed as his brother walked in and spoke, “House arrest Sasuke?”

“Don't start Itachi”

“Sasuke, you're about to go on trial for statutory rape and rape in the fucking first degree; if you're found guilty you can get up to thirty years in prison”

Sasuke groaned, “Well you should be smothering your girlfriend right now; if it weren't for her I would be in jail for two nights. She's the one who got me on fucking house arrest”

Itachi released a sigh and placed himself on the onyx couch across from his younger sibling, “What were you thinking?”

“I don't know…”

“Sasuke you know better than to fucking pull a stunt like that; it's worse because you're a male who fucked a male”

Sasuke looked up at his older brother, “So what are you suggesting Aniki? Do you believe I raped him…?”

Itachi sighed and sat back, “No but on the statutory rape I'm trying to decide what went through your mind when you made the decision to go with the relationship”

 

The two brothers heard the door close once more and they could see Chishio dropping her bag on the ground. A pang of guilt entered the teacher for what he did to his sister. Itachi looked at his younger brother and looked through the doorway to see Chishio about to ascend the staircase.

 

“Chishio”

The female ceased and walked into the living room, “What…?”

Itachi looked at her, “How was school?”

When the young sophomore didn't answer Sasuke looked at her, “You didn't go to school today?”

“How can I…?” Chishio growled as she looked at the older one, “It was your damn relationship that has everyone all over me…”

“So you think I did this?”

“You mean raping him? No…of course not but for having a relationship with him? You can't change that Sasuke…”

 

The two males watched as the younger one departed from the room leaving them in absolute silence. Sasuke couldn't blame his sister for being upset with him; to have a relationship with one of your relative's classmates is something that can cause an array of stress to be placed upon them. To be removed from the world of teaching is one thing, to be removed from his younger sister's life was something Sasuke wouldn't be able to handle.
