Chapter 13- Leaving?
“Shikamaru!” Naruto fumed at his cloud gazing friend. “What the hell are you doing!? You could of won!” The blonde flipped his legs over the railing, falling to the ground next to the pineapple-headed boy. “You were so close you lazy ass!” Shikamaru only stuck a pinky in his ear.
“Quiet Naruto, it's over already.” He said lazily. But Naruto continued his angry rant, getting attention from all over the stadium.
(TickTockTickTock---- Continues for several minutes)
It was ten minuets (told you). Ten minuets into Gaara's match and the Uchiha still hasn't showed up. She remembered the look that Sasuke had given her when they met but she quickly focused her mind back on Gaara.
“When my match comes,” She gazed at the stone ground sadly.
“Gaara-kun… Your match is next….” Akira mumbled to herself, gaining the attention of the Kazekage and the Hokage. She noticed that their attention was on her and she smiled awkwardly. “Ummm… Never mind…. I just, um,--” the Kazekage turned away and closed his eyes, obviously smirking under his mask.
“It seems that your guest has taken a liking to Gaara, Hokage-sama.” The third Hokage looked at her with a small smile on his face and she blushed furiously.
“Well… I-I'm….” She stuttered out, only to have the sense of someone staring at her. Though, this was a feeling that terrified her.
Time passed slowly and the feeling ceased to leave her nerves. Oh how she wished that she could hide, hide from the eyes that groped her soul and froze it.
She gazed at the Kazekage, shifting her silver hair in front of her face so it wouldn't be obvious. He was indeed watching her, his hard golden eyes seemed like daggers and her blood ran cold.
She averted her gaze from the lord of the sand back down to the field, where Uchiha Sasuke had finally made his appearance. She waited only a minute longer and the battle started, the Uchiha showing amazing speed and Gaara slowly loosing it.
`Now's my time.' She slowly looked towards the trees, her face saddened but still difficult to read. Then she looked at the Hokage.
“Akira-chan.” He said suddenly, startling her.
“H-hai?” She asked. He looked at her out of the corner of his eyes.
“You must do something.” He looked back at the fight that had begun. “The sand nin had said something to you that obviously upset you. What was it?” Akira lost her shocked face an once again looked at the ground sadly.
“He,” She started just when she heard the sound of a thousand birds. She furrowed her brows and ran to the railing. Peering over she saw the raven-haired boy with visible chakra. She looked at Gaara who had a barrier of his deadly sand around him. She saw Sasuke rush at him with the lightning like chakra. One word came to her mind as she stared at the jutsu. “Chidori.” She worriedly snapped her head up and away from Sasuke.
She gripped the railing in front of her as she looked at Gaara's dome of sand. `Gaara-kun.' She saw something move as Sasuke came nearer. His sand was forming deadly spikes in the direction from where Sasuke was coming from. She narrowed her eyes. `That's a smart move. If you slow down the Chidori user, the attack isn't as strong.'
“CHIDORI!” Sasuke yelled. Akira nearly jumped out of her skin. She had been wrapped up in her thoughts and didn't notice that the Chidori was about to connect with Gaara's sand.
“Gaara-kun!” She screamed to herself, knowing that the person it was suppose to reach would not be able to hear it.
“Hey, kid.” The Shukaku started. Gaara grumbled back.
`What?' And that's when he heard it. The voice that was supposed to be gone from his life again.
“Gaara-kun!” Gaara twitched as Shukaku snickered.
“Told ya!”
“Damn woman!” Gaara yelled. (Sasuke had a weird look on his face.
`Did this guy just call me a woman?' He shook it off and connected the Chidori to the sand.)
And all was silent. No one spoke, not a bird fluttered its wings, not a cricket sang.
`It's a little too quiet.' She looked around and everyone was watching the match so she shrugged it off. Then,
“Blood!” Gaara's voice reached her ears. “My blood!” And the silver-haired girl froze.
“G-Gaara….” She suddenly got an itch. It wasn't the kind of itch that you could scratch, no, it was the kind of itch that told you to do something even though you know that it would be the wrong thing to do, and yet you still have half a mind to do it. That kind of itch. Confusing, huh?
“I want you to leave…” His words rang in her head. She gave one last look at the sand, which now had a hole in it, when she noticed that something had flashed by; it was the ye of the demon that resided in Gaara's body. And in that slit second, that same eye seemed to gaze up at her with, surprisingly, affection and tenderness.
Now, even Gaara wasn't that tender and kind to her, though she still knew that he made exceptions for her (like the hug), so, shouldn't the Shukaku be emotionless and cruel?
“Get the hell away from this village.” Her gaze softened.
“Okay Gaara-ku- -I mean alright Gaara.” She walked to the Hokage. He looked up at her.
“Yes?” He said quietly.
“Hokage-sensei I—“ She then noticed something: The reason it was so quiet was because they were all fast asleep! “Get down!” She lunged at him and pushed him to the ground.
“Akira! Wha—“
