Blood...everywhere. This is what I had to come back to?
-
A small girl of 12 was packing for a mission. Her mission was mid-term. It was also a mission given originally to her cousin, Itachi-nii, but he had given it to her instead; permission given of course. She was excited. This mission was given to her by her cousin and it would also boost her strength since the mission was supposed to be for Anbu ranks only. Giggling, she wondered if it would help her jump up to Anbu if they were successful. But she knew the ranks did not work that way. Giving a snort, she finished packing and stood up. It was night time, which ment dinner would be ready soon. Exiting her room, she smiled at the small boy pouting in the main room. The boy was Sasuke, who was only 7 years old. He looked so much like Itachi, just smaller and more chibi-ish. Plopping down next to him, she waited to see if he would speak before she asked anything.
"Sano..." It was a quiet whisper, making her almost strain to her it.
"Yes Sasuke?"
"You and Itachi are lucky. You guys are smart and were able to fly threw ranks. Both trained by dad. Why won't he train me? Did I do something wrong?"
Sano almosted laughed, but instead patted the younger boy on the head. "You'll fly threw the ranks. You're smart too. Just believe in yourself Sasuke. I don't know the reasons of uncle not training you. He may only be training me cause it was in my fathers will. I am not sure. Come on. Dinner is ready." Lies. She told him lies. She knew every reason for her uncle not training Sasuke. She knew the reasons as to why he trained her and Itachi. But it wasn't ment for the young kid to hear, expecially from her.
Standing up, she helped Sasuke stand before moving towards the dining room. Itachi was there, a cold expression on his face. Sano knew why. She knew everything that happened within the family that had to do with the main branch. She only lived in the main branch due to her parents dying. Her uncle and her father were close brothers, and uncle had taken her in. Her aunt smiled, walking out of the kitchen with a couple plates. One with fish, and the other full of sushi. The middle of the table was curry. Strange assortments of food, but it didn't matter. It was yummy. Her aunt was the best cook around, or at least...that was what she believed. And any time she had the chance, she would help make the meals while being taught to cook such wonderful foods.
Sasuke sat next to Itachi's left, and she on his right. Across from them was their parents, or in Sano's case, uncle and aunt. Waiting for the adults to grab their share, the youngins dug in as well.
"So..Itachi. How did the mission go?" Sano almost flinched at her uncles voice. Everytime Itachi came back, it was all about the missions and ranks. It happened when she would come back as well.
"It was successful as always father," Itachi's cold voice answer. He glanced at his parents before lowering his gaze back to his food.
"Hey..Itachi. Will you train me some more?" Sasuke's voice rose out. He always wanted to be trained by his older brother. Very few times did it happen, and it was only ever for a small amount of time. He figured since Itachi just came back from a mission, he would have a day or two off. Sasuke looked at his brother, trying to ignore the glare his father was sending his way. Just as Itachi was about to answer, their fathers voice boomed out.
"No Sasuke. He has to train with Sano. They have to keep up their training and she has to leave for a mission in two days. She will need the training before being sent." His voice was cold, making Sasuke flinch back and go back to eating.
Sano look at her uncle as her name was stated, raising a brow. She was certainly not aware of this. Running a hand threw her short black hair, she sighed lowly, as hoping no one would hear. Itachi had though. Glancing at her, he finished eating and rose from the table, thanking his mother for the food and leaving for his room. Sano had done the same, with Sasuke tailing not to far behind.
Mikoto sighed, looking at her husband. "Don't you think that was a bit rough Fugaku?"
Fugaku shook his head, "Nonsence! Sasuke will learn his place in the world in due time." e stood, thanking his wife for the food and left to their room. Mikoto sighed, shaking her head. Sometimes her husband was just a bit to thick headed.
-
Itachi sat outside his room outside. He was munching quietly on a pack of pocky. Turning his head slightly at the sound of his door opening, he saw Sano waving at him. Turning back around, he motioned her over. Sano smiled and sat down.
"Something you need Sano?" He was to the point like always.
Sano shrugged her shoulders. "Itachi-nii...why did you insist on me going on this mission? It's not for Jounin..."
Itachi looked at her, raising a brow. He had answered this question many times and his answer was always the same. "To get you away from father for awhile." It was always the same answer he'd give her. Snatching some of his pocky from him, she put one of the sticks into her mouth, enjoying the chocolate taste. The two sat there for a couple hours, occasionally talking and making cracks at each other. This was what they did after dinner. A get away from Fugaku for awhile. Sano stood up, hugging her cousin before leaving his room.
-
Two days passed quickly. Fugaku had worked Itachi and her to the bone the first day, and a little less the second day. She stood at the gate, saying good-bye to her friends, team, and family. She would be back in three months. Mikoto had packed her a couple lunches and gave her a bit of money to last for awhile. It was an undercover mission.
Kneeling infront of a frowning Sasuke, who had attached himself to her the last couple days, she took off her band and put it on his head. "Keep this safe for me okay Sasuke?"
Recieving a nod, she smiled and hugged the boy. Reaching into her pocket, she took out a small piece of paper and looked at the blonde boy next to Sasuke. The blonde wasn't exactly liked by the town of Konoha, but she didn't care and neither did Sasuke. Giving him the paper, she smirked. "That should last you a couple months...Naruto." Naruto's eyes widen at the coupon. It was indeed supposed to be worth a couple months of ramen, but knowning him..it would be gone faster.
"Bye Sano!!" Everyone yelled, waving as she quickly disappeared. She should have let Itachi keep his mission...
-
Months went by, and Shisui's death came and went. It was quickly followed by the man slaughter of the Uchiha clan. Itachi stood before Sasuke, whom had tears streaming down his face and was clutching the headband Sano had left him. Itachi turned, and Sasuke fell to the floor, passing out from watching the salughter of every Uchiha.
Since that day, it has been Sasuke's goal to kill Itachi. He trained hard, was the top student in his class, despite Shikamaru being the smarter one, and he turned cold. He was given a team and was now Team 7 with Naruto and their pink haired friend Sakura. They also had their always-late-but-reading-pornos teacher, Hitake Kakashi. A strange bunch, but he didn't mind, despite showing that he did. Sano hadn't shown up. And after five years that went by, he believed Itachi had gotten her too, which grew his hatred for his brother even more.
-
At the front gate, a girl with long black that was partly held up in a high ponytail, walked into the gates. Everyone she walked pass was shocked. Shrugging it off, she went to the Hokage tower and strolled in. The 3rd Hokage, Sarutobi, looked at her in surprise. "You're back? You're not dead?"
The girl chuckled, almost fully laughing. She knew she was gone for a long time. It didn't bother her though. "Yes Hokage-sama. I'm back." Giving him a long report, and a reason for being extremely late. Bowing, she walked out of the office and towards the Uchiha compound.
Back in the office, Sarutobi chuckled. "Welcome back...Sano Uchiha."
-
Team 7 had just finished training. Naruto had asked Sakura if she wanted to go for ramen, but she of course, refused before turning around and asking Sasuke if he wanted to go.
In the end, Naruto and Sakura left with Kakashi, who offered to buy as a early gift before their mission in a few days. Sasuke walked back home, hands in his pockets. He reached the compound, looking at the quiet area. It was always quiet. Stopping short of the door, he then senced someone inside. Sneering, he grabbed a kunai from his side and opened the door quietly, sneeking in quickly. Looking around, he saw no one...until he heard the clatter in the kitchen. Quietly and quickly, he moved and slammed the door open, running at the person.
A pot fell, and a squeek sounded. "S-Sasuke? When did you get home?"
Sasuke looked at the figure in front of him, whom he had his kunais blade up to their neck. It took a moment to register. "S-Sano?"
The kunai in his hand dropped with a clang and he fell backward, eyes wide as if he had seen a ghost. Sano nodded, bending down to pick up the pot. She was lucky she hadn't started cooking yet, or there would be a big mess on the floor about now. Grabbing the kunai, she twirled it before setting it on the counter. Turning back to Sasuke, she smiled and held out her hand to help him up. "Are you hungry?"
He nodded dumbly. He was confused. Sano, one of his closer relatives, was standing right here. Alive. Not dead...ALIVE. Standing up, he clung to her. He hadn't noticed they where about the same height, just he was a tad taller. Sano hugged him. It was obvious that he was scared, confused, and maybe even angry. She didn't blame him either. She was gone for five years. Not so much as a note or anything. "Come on. Go wash up and we'll talk at dinner." Sasuke nodded again, walking off.
-
Dinner started out quietly. The only sounds where chopsticks and plates that clattered lightly together. "Where have you been Sano..?" Sano looked up. She was mildly surprised that he was first to break the silence, but she was glad. Setting her chopsticks down, she looked at him, a seriously look in her copper eyes.
"After I went on that mission, I was supposed to record and keep track of a man in the Sound village. I couldn't find him at first. I waited for months, and I was going to give up, but he showed up. It was actually freaky when he did. It looked like his skin was melting off his face." Sano shuddered at the reminder. "I was caught sometime afterwards. I am stil unsure how they found me out, but I have a feeling they knew for awhile. They kept me locked up for years, and until recently, they all pretty much left the village. Since everything was dying, I broke out, and came back here."
Sasuke stared at her, a brow raised. It sounded weird, but what did he know? He wasn't even close to S-Rank missions. Nodding, he finished his meal and sat there, watching her grab everything and start to wash them. "Do you know about Itachi?" He asked. Sasuke watched Sano sigh, putting everything away after they were cleaning, before sitting back down.
"Yes, I heard. I met with him before I got caught. He told me what he did. Then just..left." Sano whispered, laying her head down on the table. She heard Sasuke stand and leave the room, and smiled when he whispered a small 'Welcome back...Sano'. She had fallen asleep just as quickly.
-
Waking up the next morning, he looked at the time and saw that he still had an hour before training with his team. Sasuke sat on his bed, pondering. Then he quickly stood up, and ran out his door and towards Sano. He hoped everything from last night wasn't a dream. Checking her room, he found she wasn't there. Putting a hand to his forehead, he sneered and walked towards the kitchen. It was all a dream. That was, until he fell. Quickly looking where he tripped, he saw a now awake Sano rubbing her shoulder that he hit before he fell. It wasn't a dream. She was still here. "..Sorry Sano."
Sano looked up, shrugging off her pain and looking at her cousin. Smiling, she stood up and helped him up. "It's okay Sasuke. Now get ready. You probably have to go training right?" He nodded, walking back to his room to change. He came back out to see breakfast on the table, and a newly changed Sano. They ate and chatted a bit. Sano had promised to watch him train, and maybe help a little bit. She also wanted to see Naruto, and appolgize to him for being gone so long.
-
The two arrived at the training grounds third. Sakura had quickly looked away from Naruto, who coward under her gaze because she was about to hit him, and looked toward Sasuke.
Only...she was officially annoyed at the girl who was with him. Naruto looked at the annoyed Sakura, then at Sasuke before his gaze fell to the girl. It didn't take him a second to realize who she was. Jumping up, he pounced on the small girl, taking her into a hug, which annoyed Sasuke greatly...which only caused Sakura to get even more annoyed.
"Sano!!! Where have you been? Are you okay? You're not hurt are you? Why were you gone so long? Did you miss me?" Question after question poored out of the blondes mouth, which caused Sano to laugh.
"Dobe! Shut up and let her go!" Sasuke glared at Naruto, daring him to say no. Naruto, being Naruto, stuck his toungue out at the male Uchiha. "No way Sasuke! I haven't seen her in a long time either!"
Sakura stood behind the two bickering teammates, watching as the girl..Sano..wiggled her way from the two boys and stood there. The girl looked at her, sizing her up. Just who was the mysterious girl? Why was she with Sasuke? And how did Naruto know her? All these questions ran threw Sakura's mind while Inner Sakura was having a hissy fit. Sano walked over and put her hand out to Sakura, who stopped talking to her Inner and looked at the girl.
"I'm Sano Uchiha."
"Uchiha?! I thought they were all wiped out by Sasuke's brother..."
"Sadly...they were. I was out on a mission when it happened. I just got back."
This seemed to calm Sakura down a bit. Training went smoothly, and Sano took Naruto out for ramen as a forgiveness present. Sakura and Sasuke walked around before reaching the compound. "So...Sasuke. Is Sano really an Uchiha?"
"Hn...of course she is. She's my cousin, but more or less like an older sister instead. She was on an S-Rank mission a few months before Itachi killed them all. I just thought she was killed as well."
Sakura nodded. She whispered a good-night before they seperated.
-
Time flew by at a fast rate. People where now used to the newly come Uchiha. The chuunin exams where coming very soon. Which ment a lot of training had to be done. Of course, when it came around, it didn't go as smoothly as the past. She was told by Kakashi about the curse mark on Sasuke, and had been there when it was sealed. When Kakashi took Sasuke off for training before the last round, Sano had helped Naruto, and had also trained Sakura some so she wouldn't fall to far behind. The attack from sound had left a large impact on the Konoha village, as well as Suna. New friends made, as well as new enemies. Sasuke and Naruto bickered more these days. And then...Sasuke was met by the Sound Four.
-
On his way home, pondering what the sound nin had said, he went into the compound, but stopped at the sound of voices. His eyes widened and he ran towards it. Skidding to a stop, he saw Sano. She was talking to two people. One looked unfamiliar to him. With blonde hair in a high ponytail and bangs covering his left eye. Next to the blonde was his worst nightmare. Itachi. Cold and stotic as always.
Itachi looked towards Sasuke, causing Sano and the figure to stop and look. Sano's eyes slightly widened. Itachi smirked. "Hello little brother."
"Itachi!" Sasuke snarled, running towards the man he hated. Itachi disappeared before Sasuke could strike, appearing behind Sano. He leaned down towards the girls ear, "I will see you soon then Sano." He whispered, before nodding to the other figure and disappearing. The blonde smirked and disappeared as well.
Sano looked Sasuke and sighed. She could see the disappointment in his eyes, and the anger radiating off him. "Why?" Sano looked at him, confused at his question. "Why where you talking to him!?"
She flinched. Disappearing, she reappeared behind him, hugging her little cousin. "I'm sorry Sasuke," was all that was whispered before he rendered uncounsious.
-
When Sasuke woke up, she wasn't around anymore. That was the day she was put into the bingo book, found for assosiating and being a member of Akatsuki. And the day after, Sasuke left, leaving Sakura just the way Sano had left him.
-
"Sakura...Thank you." Was all Sakura heard before darkness took over and she woke up the next day on the bench by the gate. Sasuke had abandond the village. Sakura had cried all day, and watched as Naruto, Shikamaru, Neji, Choji, Kiba, and Akamaru left while Lee stood next to her on crutches.
-
No sooner after Naruto had returned almost dead, did he leave after healed with Jiraiya to train. Sakura had trained with Tsunade, and she hoped that both her teammates..her best friends..would come back to her in Kohana.
-
Else where though, Sano stood on a hill, watching the sunset with the blonde sitting by her. Both turned when they heard footsteps. It was Itachi. Sano smiled softly. She knew he had heard of Sasuke running off to Orochimaru, and could tell he was just as disappointed as she was that he would run off to a snake of all people. The three watched the sunset, both curious as to what would become of the future.
-End-
So, this is it. I hope you enjoyed. I might do a sequal. I don't know for sure yet. Just depends on what I feel like doing. But first, some notes.
Sano is my character. Her parents died at a young age and was adopted into the main branch family just as Neji was. Of course, she's older. She is 12 when she leaves, and 17 when she comes back. The truth of her five year disappearance was joining Akatsuki. Itachi had found her in the Sound village just as she was leaving to finish her mission up.
He had told her what he did. She didn't have the heart to hate him as she was also told why he did it. She had followed her cousin to Akatsuki and joined. Her mission from Akatsuki after the five years was to infilitrate Konoha and report back any information. Of course, Sasuke had caught her talking to Itachi and Deidara before she left, finishing up that mission and was finally put in the bingo book.
You can find a picture of Sano at my DA. Look up LeanaMee101 or Sano Uchiha. If it's by LeanaMee101, then you found her.
