Prologue - Rival Lilith

Kakashi was late, as usual.

Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura sat around the ramen shop waiting to see what Kakashi's big news was. Sakura was glad they didn't have to do a mission today; missions always tired her out. And besides, it was obvious she never was really good at it as fighting wasn't really her thing, being more of a thinker.

Naruto leaned on the counter of the shop, fumbling about in his pocket. “I'm sure I had a coupon for one free meal of Ramon in here somewhere!” he exclaimed, but gave up shortly after, remembering he had spent it the other day with Konohamaru and the other two in his little group.
“Oh well,” he sighed, “I hope Kakashi sensei hurries up with the big news, maybe he'll buy us all some ramen” and Naruto grinned that goofy grin of his.

Sakura ignored him and, as usual focused all her attention on Sasuke. These days she was always really desperate for him to notice her. “So, Sasuke...” she began, smiling sweetly at him. Sasuke didn't even bother to look at her, but, regardless, Sakura continued, “What do you think the news will be?” Poor Sakura was blissfully unaware that their sensei's `big news' would confirm that she would never have a chance ever with Sasuke.

Sasuke made a sort of grunting sound and turned away. Sakura hung her head in failure `He'll never like me' she thought to herself as she noticed the coldness in Sasuke's narrow black eyes.

“Hello,” a voice said casually from behind the three ninja. Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto all turned round, they knew who it was: Kakashi.

“So, you all ready for my big, big news?” grinned Kakashi. He looked almost excited.

“Hurry it up,” a pissed off sounding Sasuke said, although he always sounded like that.

“Ok, ok,” sighed Kakashi, “But trust me, you're gonna love this!”

The three ninja of the Village Hidden In The Leaves were on the edges of their seats, atleast, Naruto and Sakura were.

“Well,” continued Kakashi, “I don't really know how to put this, but two members of our team aren't improving that much”

“Sakura and Naruto” interrupted Sasuke.

“Hey!” exclaimed Naruto, glaring at him. Sakura just turned away, blushing in shame; she knew it was true that she hadn't been improving in the slightest bit.

“Well, anyway” Kakashi rolled his eyes, “One of you hasn't actually improved at all, so the Fourth has decided” he paused, eager for suspense to build up, “us here in team 7 are getting a new member”

“What?!” yelped Naruto and Sakura, their faces falling, Sasuke remaining unemotional.

“She's really good,” Kakashi went on, “she's, I'll be honest, a lot better than Naruto and even rivals Sasuke - She could possibly be stronger than him!”

“What?!” snapped Sasuke, suddenly jumping up, all flustered and bothered. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, extremely annoyed.

“Heeheheh!” laughed Naruto in hysterics, “Sasuke is weaker than a girl!” Sakura flashed him an evil looked and whacked him over the head- Partly because he was being a sexist pig, and also because he offended her beloved Sasuke.

“Well,” Kakashi scratched his neck out of nervousness, “I'd like you to meet Lilith everyone.
“Hey Lilith!” shouted Kakashi, “Come on!”

“You mean she's been watching us the whole time?” Naruto said, feeling slightly uneasy about it.

A girl, the same age as Sakura, Naruto and Sasuke, twelve, revealed herself. She had scarlet red hair tied into a loose side pony-tail that rested on her shoulder. Her black eyes had a hint of dark red in them. These eyes were piercing, yet friendly and caring at the same time, the kind of eyes that looked like they told a tale, a tale of pain and hardship that wished to be hidden away and never told. Lilith had a forehead protector with the Konoha leaf on it too, but hers was black, which she wore tightly around her forehead but it didn't seem to be stopping the little strands of hair that fell across her eyes, making her seem even more mysterious. She wore slightly baggy trousers, dark grey, the left hand side had been torn off and a maroon coloured sleeveless t-shit with a black see-through net like t-shirt over the top of it. Her boots were the same as Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura's with the exception of them being the same colour as her forehead protector. Lilith also wore arm-guards, in a colour that was almost the same as her t-shirt, but slightly lighter, you could also see something that looked a little like a shin-guard of the same design on the shin of her bare leg.

But what the three ninja noticed most was the strange markings on the middle finger and pointer finger of each of Lilith's hands.

“You must be Sasuke,” smirked Lilith, `the survivor of the Uchiha clan' her smirk faded into a smile, “I'm Lilith” Then she went to analyze Sakura and Naruto, “And you're Naruto” she smiled again, `The boy with the demon fox inside of him' and finally Sakura, “And you're Sakura, right?”

Both Sakura and Naruto nodded, “Nice to meet you,” Naruto replied, grinning again, and he went over to shake her hand.

“Same”

Then it was Sakura's turn, although she seemed a lot less enthusiastic. “Hi,” she said quietly. Inner Sakura thinking - `No way is she better than my Sasuke! Sasuke is number one!

Then Lilith went over and extended her hand to Sasuke. He shook it, not wanting to be rude, it was true he could be a bit of an asshole, but Sasuke was a decent guy. `So, Lilith is it?' he thought, staring at her from top to toe, `This is the girl that is supposedly stronger than me, eh?'
