Serendipity

Chapter I: Dream

 

Total darkness, that's what all he saw. The boy calmly walked, heading to who-knows-where. He didn't know where he's going; he just let his feet walk in its' own accord. He stopped when he saw someone; a girl with a long-pink hair, her back facing him. She is seating in a wooden bench, few feet from him. He was startled when cherry blossoms suddenly appeared out of nowhere; falling towards the seated girl. He was about to ask the girl about these weird things when he realized that the girl is crying.

“Sasuke…” she whispered as she cried and he barely heard it.

His eyes widened when the girl actually uttered his name.

“Why…” the girl cried as Sasuke froze, bewildered from the things that are happening. He slowly walked towards the crying girl. He was about to take a look at her when—

“KRRRRRRRNG!!!”

 

A boy with raven-spiked hair opened his eyes and sat up quickly. “Stupid clock” he murmured as he grab his alarm clock and turned it off. The seventeen-year-old boy remained silent for a while as he remembered his dream. “Who's that girl?” he asked himself as he stood up from his bed. “Why doesshe know my name?”

“SASUKE!!!”

 

A blonde boy exclaimed as the said teen turned to see his friends walking towards him. “Oi Sasuke what's up?” a boy which looks like a dog asked as they walk towards their school.

“The sky is up.” Sasuke replied stoically. “Very funny Uchiha.” a boy with pale eyes and long hair uttered. “I didn't know Uchihas are lousy jokers.” another boy with shades commented. “I'm not joking Shino, I just answered Kiba's question.” “Whatever” the pale-eyed senior muttered. “Sasuke, we're playing DOTA after class, wanna join?” the blonde boy asked. Sasuke nodded as they finally reached their destination.

 

“YOSH!!! This time, I'll beat you Sasuke!!!” the blonde junior exclaimed.

 

“Pfft, Naruto that's the 297th time you said that.” the pale-eyed boy teased. “Shut up Neji!” Naruto exclaimed. “You'll just end up losing again Naruto.” a fat boy and a guy with pineapple-like hair uttered simultaneously. “You two are wrong Chouji, Shikamaru. I'll surely win this time because I've already known that bastard's secret strategy.” Naruto laughed evilly. “BAKA, I don't have any secret strategy.” Sasuke uttered. “Yeah you have! The old man pervert, Jiraiya told me.” The group sweet dropped. “Naruto how can you believe that perverted internet café's keeper? Out of the ten statements he would say, twelve are lies.” Kiba said as they only sighed when they realized Naruto wasn't listening to Kiba's statement. “That's why he's really easy to be tricked… he's so dense.”

“OHAYOU!” Kakashi, their Social Science teacher and also their class adviser, greeted. The whole class gawked in disbelief to see their sensei on time.

 

“ WHOAH!!! I can't believe this; Kakashi-sensei is not late!” Naruto exclaimed.

 

“Yeah, you always come 30 minutes late!” Kiba added.

 

“Well, a black cat didn't cross my way.” Kakashi replied with a grin under his facemask. “Before anything, I would like to inform you all that you have a new classmate.” The class remained silent while Sasuke knitted his brows, elbows resting on the desk with his chin on the top of his clasped hands “Who would transfer to another school in the middle of the school year?”

 

“Okay, you may enter.” Kakashi said and turned his head to the direction of the door. The door opened and a girl with green eyes and long-pink hair entered. Sasuke's eyes widened as he stare at the girl's pink locks. “That pink hair…I have seen it…in my dream…” “Okay, introduce yourself.” Kakashi told the girl as she nodded and stepped in front of the class.

 

“I'm Haruno Sakura, I'm very glad to meet you all.” she smiled sweetly as Sasuke's gaze never leaves her.

“HEY SAKURA, WANNA GO OUT WITH ME LATER?”

“NO! SAKURA-CHAN PLEASE GO OUT WITH ME, I'M MORE HANDSOME THAN HIM!”

“SHUT UP BAKAS, SAKURA'S GOING OUT WITH ME!”

“NO SHE'LL NOT!”

“YES SHE WILL”

“OH NO! This isn't good” she thought as she managed to put a smile on her lips ironic to her inner self who's so irritated with her new fanboys. “Damn it, I hate fanboys!”

“Okay, keep quiet class. We'll still have to know about Sakura.” Kakashi turned to the said girl as she nodded and stepped in front of the class. “I came from Mist.” she uttered as the whole class gawked at her.

“WHAT! YOU MUST BE VERY INTELLIGENT!!!” a random guy asked. Mist High is known for their outstanding students. Mist has only few students due to their high standard. “Oh! Not really.” Sakura answered as she grinned and scratched the back of her head. “Okay, Sakura, you may seat beside the Uchiha.” Kakashi pointed the vacant seat beside Sasuke.

“WHAT? NO WAY!” a girl exclaimed.

“NO FAIR! WHY HER?” another girl cried.

“WHY NOT ME? I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SIT BESIDE SASUKE-KUN!!!” a girl with long-dark hair shouted as she stood up from her seat. “Calm down Kin, yeah you want to seat beside him but the question is does he wants you to seat beside him? You know that Sasuke hates fangirls right?” he turned to Sasuke who gave him a nod. Kin sat down and cursed as Kakashi gestured Sakura to sit on her assigned seat. Sasuke watched her walk towards the seat beside him. Sakura caught his gaze and she smiled which caused him to avert his gaze somewhere else and blush. “Shit! What was that feeling when she smiled at me?” he thought as Sakura finally sat down. She giggled from his reaction, causing him to glare at her. “Gomen, I was just surprised with your reaction Uchiha-san.” “Hn” he replied nonchalantly. He averted his gaze on the window beside him. “Why were you crying when I saw you in my dream…?” he turned to Sakura who's taking down some notes from Kakashi's lecture. “…why did you utter my name…?” he looked at his sensei and leaned back on his chair, arms crossed. “…what does that dream meant… or… does it mean anything…?”

Sakura walked along the corridor with her bento box.

“HEY HARUNO”

She turned to see Kin and some of their female classmates heading towards her, with unexplainable expressions on their faces. “Haruno, I want to ask you a question.” Kin gazed at her with a vicious look. “Anything” Sakura forced a smile on her lips. “What's with these people?”she asked herself. Kin pinned her against the wall which caused her to drop the bento box. “Do you likemy Sasuke-kun? Kin asked as Sakura felt her long-pointed, well-polished nails dug on her shoulders. “What? Of course no!” Sakura said as she tried to push Kin away from her but only Kin pinned her harder on the wall and glared at her. “I don't want you getting closer to my Sasuke-kun or else…” she motioned her female companions who surrounded them “…you don't know what I can do Haruno.” She grabbed her long hair while her companions brought out scissors and the others held Sakura on place. “I'm sure you don't want your precious hair to be ruined, right?” Kin smirked evilly. Sakura's eyes widened and pleaded. “Kin-san please don't do that…” “Why wouldn't I cut your hair?” Kin asked as she neared the scissor on Sakura's hair.

“STOP THAT!”

Kin and her friends turned to the brunette who stopped her. “Stop that or we'll report you to Sarutobi-sensei!” a blonde-girl demanded. Kin released her grip on Sakura's hair as well as her companions who held Sakura and turned to the people who had interrupted them. “You'll pay for this Yamanaka…” she turned to Sakura “…the same goes to you. Stay away from my Sasuke-kun.” Kin turned her back to them. “Okay girls come on. We still have to go on our headquarters!” then Kin walked away with her subordinates.

“You mean your flirtatious club's den?!” the brunette with her locks held in buns snickered. The Yamanaka girl guffawed “Yeah right Tenten.” “Good thing Kin-san didn't hear you.” a girl with short, dark blue hair stated. “Hinata I don't care if she hears me because I know it's true!” Tenten replied. “Somehow your right.” Hinata uttered.

Sakura picked up her bento box. She approached the people who had saved her and bowed “Arigatou Yamanaka-san, Hayami-san, Hyuuga-san.” “Nah, it's alright Sakura. Just call us on our first names.” the blonde girl smiled.

Sakura straightened herself and returned the blonde's smile.

“Just ignore that slut. She's actually the leader of Sasuke's fan club and she's just jealous of you being seated beside him.” the blonde girl stated.

“Arigatou again Ino-san.” Sakura smiled again as well as Ino. “Sakura-san, mind to join us eat lunch?” Hinata asked. “It would be a pleasure.” Sakura replied. “Okay then, let's eat!” Tenten exclaimed as she raised a fist on the air.

“Haruno…Sakura…who really are you?” Sasuke thought as he stares at the said teen.

“ITADAKIMASU!!!” Naruto exclaimed as he dip the chopsticks on his ramen. “Oi Naruto, take it easy your ramen couldn't run from you!” Kiba uttered. Naruto took a mouthful of noodles while the rest of them ate their lunch normally except for Sasuke whose staring at someone— a girl to be exact. It's a BIG deal! Why? Uchiha Sasuke is a guy with brains, damn gorgeous looks, cool attitude and rich family; in short, perfect. Who wouldn't fall for him?! He's also known for his staid, stoic character which makes him superb! But not like other good-looking guys, he's totally pissed when it comes to girls because almost all the ladies are dying to get his attention. He never laid his eyes on a girl, except for her—Haruno Sakura. Naruto took notice of this. The flaxen-haired boy swallowed the noodles on his mouth and stopped eating. “Looks like someone had caught your attention Sasuke…” Naruto said as he tapped his best friend's back. Sasuke was cut off from his trail of thoughts and averted his gaze from Sakura to Naruto. “You like Sakura-chan?” Naruto asked with a wide grin on his face. This question also caught the attention of their companions who stopped eating. Sasuke stared at his best friend, waiting for the words that came out from Naruto's mouth register on his brain. Their friends also stared at him, waiting for his answer to Naruto's question. After few seconds—

“SHUT IT DOBE! STARING AT SOMEONE DOESN'T MEAN I ALREADY LIKE HER. I DON'T LIKE SA-” he cut off himself when he realized that everybody in the cafeteria is looking at him, including Sakura; surprised on his sudden outburst. He caught the carnation-haired girl's gaze and he blushed—maybe because of embarrassment or there's something with her stare. He got up and left his friends behind as he jammed his hands on his pockets. The crowd was startled with his sudden change of mood.

“HEY SASUKE! YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED YET YOUR LUNCH!!!” Naruto exclaimed.

“I lost my appetite…” Sasuke replied, not bothering to face them as he continued to walk away. “Did I say something wrong?” Naruto asked the people left. They just answered him with a shrug.

“Damn, what's wrong with me?” Sasuke asked himself as he seated himself under a big, well-blossomed cherry tree. “I can't stop thinking about her…” he leaned on the bark of the tree. He closed his eyes and felt the warm, gentle air caressed his smooth face. “She's so mysterious…” he opened his eyes and watched the falling blossoms. He smiled “…yet very intelligent, lovely and her smile…” A sight of Sakura smiling appeared on his vision and his cheeks flushed. He closed his eyes and shook his head, trying to get rid of her in his mind. “Damn it! Why am I thinking of you Sakura!!!” he lowered his head “It's like I've already knew you for a long time…” he opened his eyes and leaned back on the tree. “…yet it'sbeen only three days when you transferred here…” he sighed as the falling sakuras caught his obsidian orbs. “…Sakura…”

“AH-CHOO!!!”

“Gomen…” Sakura apologized sheepishly as they made their way towards their room. “Sakura-chan, do you have a cold?” Hinata asked with concern. The said teen shook her head and smiled “Thanks Hinata.”

“AH! Sakura…are you the one Sasuke is staring at back at the cafeteria?” Tenten asked, getting the best of her. Sakura blushed and averted her gaze elsewhere “I don't know.” The pink-haired girl heard her friends snicker. She raised a brow with this. “WHAT?!” she asked them seriously. Ino, Tenten and Hinata turned to her, causing them to stop walking. She saw their lips form smirks. “What's with those smirks?” she asked as she felt Ino's arm on her shoulder. “It's alright Sakura, were not Kin's friends and we totally support your feelings towards each other!” Ino grinned as well as Tenten and Hinata made peace signs. Sakura twitched and blushed. “Ino you're getting the wrong idea. It doesn't mean that when he's staring at me…” Sakura lowered her head as her blush faded “…he already likes me…” Sakura felt something when these words came out from her mouth. Her companions took notice of this and frowned. “Don't be a pessimist; it's so obvious that you had caught his attention.” Ino said and released her arm on Sakura's shoulder. Sakura smiled “You're definitely wrong Ino, I'm not a pessimist. I'm just stating the truth.” She said and walked pass them.

“HEY SAKURA! Where are you going?!” the brunette senior asked.

“That's not the way to our room!” Ino added

“I'll just have a walk. I need fresh air.” Sakura replied, not bothering to face her friends as she lowered her head and continued walking.

“Huh?...What's wrong with her?” Ino asked. “That's the same question in my mind.” Tenten replied. “Me too.” Hinata said.

“GOOD DAY YOUNG PEOPLE, I MAITO GAI SHALL PROMISE TO ENHANCE THE TRUE MEANING OF YOUTH IN EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU…”

“There he goes again…” Chouji uttered effortlessly as their music teacher makes his speech. “I really hate this subject.” Naruto hissed as his elbows rested on the top of his desk with his hands cupping the sides of his head. “I can't understand how fuzzy brows take this torture.” Naruto and Kiba turned to Rock Lee, Gai's one and only fan. They shivered as they saw the glint on Lee's eyes. “I'm thankful I'm not like them…weirdoes.” Chouji added as Kiba and Naruto laughed a bit.

“Oh yeah Naruto, where's Sasuke?” Kiba asked the blonde boy. Naruto turned to the said teen's empty seat and sighed. “I think he's still pissed with the incident earlier.”

“Okay, for our practical, I'll group you into pairs: a boy and a girl. Each pair should prepare a love song.” Gai stated.

A `WHAT?' with three consecutive exclamation points was the whole class's reaction.

“Too troublesome.” Shikamaru muttered while most of the girls squealed. “I'm sure I'll be paired with mySasuke-kun!!!” Kin exclaimed as most of the boys scoffed and the others sweat dropped. “I think Sasuke would rather choose to fail this subject than to be paired with you!” Naruto laughed as majority of the boys snickered. Kin glared at the flaxen-haired boy. “I don't think you're right Naruto, it's so obvious that he likes me!” Naruto rolled his eyes with her statement “You wish…” Naruto murmured. He averted his gaze to Sasuke's seat “…because someone had already caught his eyes…” Naruto sighed and moved his gaze from the seat of his best friend then to Sakura's “Yeah, I really think he likes her.”

Sakura sighed and walked around the campus. “Uchiha Sasuke…” she lowered her head “…why am I thinking of you?” Sakura sat under a cherry tree. Look how playful destiny is. She's sitting under the same tree where Sasuke also is. She leaned on the bark of the tree and sighed again for the 29th time on that day. She has no idea that the one she's thinking of is also leaning on the same tree; on the opposite side. She hugged her knees closer to her chest and lowered her head. “Kin-san's threat earlier…I'm worried if ever…I'll be able to be Uchiha-san's friend…or if I'll fell for him—WHATTHE…what the hell am I thinking?!!!”She scolded herself for the things that suddenly popped out from her mind.“I don't like him…I really don't like him…I really don't—…do I?” She raised her head only to be greeted by falling cherry blossoms. She smiled at the sight “Do I like you Uchiha Sasuke?” She closed her eyes and hummed—her hobby when she's on deep thinking.

On the other side of the tree was Sasuke. He was cut from his thoughts about the pink-haired girl when he heard a sweet tune. Something within him tells him to stand up and look who's making the tune. And thanks to his curiosity and that something within him, he finally saw the one girl who's humming. His eyes widened when he saw a familiar carnation hair. Her eyes were closed and she's smiling while humming. He smirked and coughed softly to get her attention. She opened her eyes and led it to the person who had interrupted her. Her verdant eyes widened when she saw the boy before her. “U-Uchiha-san?” she choked as the said teen walked near to her. He sat down next to her; Sakura's gaze never leaves him. He felt it and tried to avoid it by concentrating his gaze on the falling blossoms around them. He felt suddenly awkward and attempted to break the silence by opening a topic. “Why are you here? It's music time, you're not suppose to make `cutting classes'.” He asked her as she leaned back. “And you? Why are you also here?” she returned him his own question. He turned to her as she also did. Her verdant orbs drowned in his obsidian ones. She felt her check heating up. “His eyes…it's…captivating me…”

“Sakura?”

She was brought back to reality when Sasuke called her.

“Sakura what's wrong? You're face is red.”

Sakura averted her look from him and lowered her head. “Damn! What should I say?” she asked herself as she realized that she'd been staring at him for quite a while. Sasuke watched her with amusement. He smirked at her reaction. Unfortunately, Sakura saw him smirk and she glared at him. “What's with that smirk Uchiha?” she uttered, glaring daggers at him. “Well, I'm just surprised with your reaction Sa-ku-ra.” He grinned as she began to think of déjà vu. He poked a finger on her forehead “Pay back time.” he said. Before she can react, Sasuke had stood up and ran away quickly. She heard him snicker when she shouted “DAMN YOU UCHIHA!!!”

“I've paired you randomly.” Gai said and coughed to get his class's attention. “Okay, Pair1-” then Gai started calling random names.

“Please pair me with someone who's not hard to get along.” Naruto mumbled silently.

“Pair6- Uzumaki Naruto and Hyuuga Hinata” Hinata blushed when Naruto grinned at her. “Well Hinata-chan's not hard to get along but she's kinda weird because whenever I talk to her she always blushesand stammers.” Naruto just shrugged. “Oh well,I think she's just like that.”

“Pair7- Nara Shikamaru and Yamanaka Ino” Shikamaru twitched and muttered `troublesome' while Ino rolled her eyes. “Why am I always stuck with that lazy guy?!” “Pair 8—”

“Please, pair me with Sasuke-kun.” Kin prayed.

“Then Pair14- Akimichi Chouji and Tsuchi Kin”

“WHAT?!” Kin exclaimed, gaining the class's attention. “It's not fair. I want to be Sasuke-kun's partner and I don't want that fatty!” Kin cried.

“Kin-san, please watch your words and your pairings are picked randomly, there's no bias on my pairings of youth because I, Maito Gai, would develop your skills on Music and help you, youngsters, to bloom your youth skills and—”

“Okay, okay. We've got what you mean. Just go on with your pairings.” said some annoyed students. Kin clenched her fists and cursed. Gai coughed and continued. “The last pair is Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura.” They all turned to the empty seats of the said pair and a big question mark popped out from their heads. Ino and Hinata grinned as well as Sasuke's friends while Kin and her allies had thoughts of threats and torture plans for the carnation-haired girl. “Haruno I totally hate you! You'll definitely regret that you transferred here.” Kin thought and an evil smirk made its way on her thick painted lips.
