Kakashi returned late that night, hair and clothing dishevelled. He tried his best to be silent as he opened the door and snuck in, closing it behind him. Scanning the room quickly for his partner, he wondered if he was even there.

After he had returned to their room earlier today Gai had found himself at a loss of what to do. His body was telling him that it urgently required sleep to keep him functioning, but the burn on his thigh was rubbing painfully against the fabric of his Yukata and his mind was in a storm of confusion about what had actually transpired at the hot springs. Thinking back he had been unable to understand how the things had escalated as quickly as they had, and in consternation he had slumped onto one of the two chairs standing at the western style table that was positioned in one corner of their room.
For several hours he had replayed everything that had happened, using the dull pain in his leg as means to stay awake until finally his head had become too heavy and his eyelids had fluttered closed, leaving him in a deep slumber sprawled over the tabletop.

Kakashi smiled slightly at the sight of Gai fallen asleep at the table. He carefully took one of the blankets from the bed and brought it over, draping it across Gai's shoulders

As the blanket was spread over his shoulders Gai twitched slightly and curled his arms closer to his body but otherwise didn't react. However the movement of his arms had managed to upset his already perilous position and it seemed as if he was in danger of sliding of the chair any second depositing him on the floor.

Scratching the back of his head, Kakashi shrugged his shoulders and just hoped Gai was a deep sleeper and not as heavy as he looked. Bending over, he tried to see if he could lift Gai from the chair, gently.

Gai may have been a heavier sleeper the Kakashi and the drained state of his body was in no way helping this but the moment Kakashi wrapped his arms around him in an effort to move the black haired man to the bed his eyes flew open and an instinctive backhand strike-elbow thrust combination was initiated. Although his eyes were open Gai had clearly no idea of what was actually happening or where he was and who his companion was.

Kakashi let go of Gai instantly and moved back, managing to block Gai's strikes as he put distance between himself and the other ninja. "...Well, you're up."

Blinking blearily Gai looked over his shoulder. "Kakshhee..." he mumbled and dropped his hands from the fighting stance he had assumed. Looking out of the window he saw the coal black night sky with it's clusters of tiny pinpricks of light. "…Time iss it?" In an oddly child like moment he brought his fist up and rubbed it over his eyes, the toll of the last day still clearly visible in the sluggish movement and lacklustre of his eyes as they once again turned to Kakashi.

"It's late, and time for good little boys to be in bed." Kakashi answered, cautiously returning to Gai's side and attempting to lead him into bed. The smell of sweat and sex was still on him, and he needed a bath badly. 'After I put Gai back to sleep' Kakashi reasoned.

Obediently Gai let the other man lead him to the bed they had shared, however about halfway there he stumbled and clutched at Kakashi for balance. Since his face was now close to the other man the distinctive smell tickled his nostrils and he made a face at it. "Yoo stink" he proclaimed before resuming the slow march in the direction of the bed.

"Yeah, yeah." Kakashi said, not listening to what Gai was saying. Once he managed to coax Gai into the bed, he started to tuck the other man in before he realized what he was really doing.

Blinking up with heavy lidded eyes Gai seemed to observe his actions but it was most unlikely that he would remember anything in the morning.

Kakashi brushed some of the hair out of Gai's eyes. "Go to sleep. We'll leave back for Konoha in the morning." He himself would get no sleep tonight. After the bath there would be little time to get any noticeable rest, and he could do without, anyway.

But it was to late now. It was as if somebody had turned on the light as consciousness streamed back into Gai's eyes and with every movement of his lids he seemed more aware. Sitting back up he took in the disarray of Kakashi's clothing and his hair as well as the scent that had begun to permeate the air. "Where were you?" he finally questioned, the calm words at a marked contrast to the sleepy childishness he had exhibited before.

Kakashi groaned inwardly. And he was so close to getting out of this without a hitch. Kakashi wasn't unprepared, though, he had the scrolls of information taken from the room of the targets. Depositing them in Gai's lap, Kakashi started to walk away towards the bathroom. "Getting those. I'm now going to take a bath."

Running his fingers over the scrolls Gai nodded then sat up properly and swung his legs back over the side ruining all Kakashi's work at tucking him in without a thought. Sniffing the air he made a face and then wandered over to the window. He had had it open a small gap to air the room of the smell of their own activities, but now he firmly pushed it open as far as the frame allowed.

Kakashi didn't notice Gai's movements or didn't care about them, drawing himself a nice hot bath and scrubbing off all the remains of sex and sweat from his recon mission and other activities prior. After what seemed like forever, he stepped out of the bathroom with a towel loosely wrapped around his waist again, but mask already returned to his face.

"You got the mission objective....." for some reason Gai sounded subdued with less energy then usual, something rather unheard of where the azure beast was concerned.

Kakashi nodded. "We'll return to Konoha tomorrow morning, before they get a chance to notice the evidence is missing."

"Alright." Gai agreed still staring out of the window.

Kakashi crossed his arms. He didn't like where this was going. "Is something wrong?"

Turning so that he could throw a look over his shoulder at Kakashi Gai shrugged. " I just assumed that since we were supposed to be partners on this mission you would bother telling me about something like this…beforehand "he answered calmly.

"The opportunity presented itself and I didn't have time to consult you on it." Kakashi responded, just as calmly.

"You mean you found an opening for fucking them and didn't want to bother with telling me." Gai countered, the coarse words foreign to his way of speaking.

"If I just wanted ass, there were at least five other far better specimens of it that would have been more than happy to help me out." Kakashi didn't feel the need to explain the exacts of why he chose to do what he did. Gai was an ANBU as well, Kakashi expected him to understand. It was by any means necessary, and this one involved no more risking of life on either of their parts.

"If you say so." Gai retreated into himself slightly. "I would just wish that next time you wont keep me waiting for several hours without knowledge of your status or location." In a way he was admitting defeat, not gracefully but that had never been his strong point.

"I didn't have the opportunity to do so without breaking my cover, but I will keep that in mind in the future none the less." Kakashi responded, coolly.

Nodding once again Gai turned back to the window. "You should get some sleep if we are leaving early." Another thing Kakashi hadn't bothered to discuss with him. Gai was beginning to doubt what he actually was on this mission for. All he had contributed so far had been inconsequential if not downright detrimental to it.

"I'm not going to bother. If I sleep now, I won't be able to wake up tomorrow." Kakashi reasoned, taking the towel and scrubbing his hair dry with it.

Gai fought down a yawn himself, scolding his body for trying to show such weakness in the face of his rival. The way back to Konoha was not something he was looking forward to in the state his body was in at the moment, still neither did he particularly desire to spend any more time in the Onsen resort with the strange behaviour it was brining forth in himself and his companion. "How early do you want to leave?"

"As early as you're ready." Kakashi replied.
