Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Silver Lining ❯ Disbandment ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Rated: Preteen for romance-based themes that children would not find interest in xD
Disclaimer: I do not own any characters or the manga -- they all belong to the author who made them, and i'm just borrowing them for a little while.... okay, borrowing them for a long time since this fanfic will take me ages....but you get the point, right? they'll be handed back.
Summary: The worst thing in the world has happened -- Hinata has been disbanded from the Hyuuga Clan. Although she had always disliked her family, moving out was harder than she ever could imagine.
I know it sounds cheesy, I'm sorry >>; But I don't know how to sound dramatic without making it all mushy.....I'll try not to do too much of that!! Dx First fic ever, please review and rate nicely!!

 Chapter 1:: Disbandment
Hinata looked up at the endless blue sky, her eyes gleaming an unnatural white with a silver tinge, like a cloud with a silver lining. Just then, a couple of clouds obscured her view, and they drifted lazily across the sky. For some reason, her heart ached when she watched the slow process of gray clogging up the serene blue, and closed her eyes longingly as a gentle drizzle started.
"Silver linings," She whispered softly; the words floated in the air for a second before it faded. "Will I ever find my silver lining?" She didn't believe in silver linings any more than the fairytales that were read to her when she was small, or the possibility that Naruto would stop loving ramen. Reality was much colder, and there wasn't any point in hoping for the impossible. Stormy black clouds had replaced the fake facade of a sunny day in a few minutes, the same way those clouds had covered up her life. Stormy, black clouds that rained forever.
With a distant look in her eyes, she recalled the memory with painful accuracy. The thin rain droplets that were falling steadily slid down her face alongside her tears; the wound was evidently still raw. The freezing feeling of what little hope she had left melting away, and the even colder glare of her father; it was what she saw in her nightmares, but dreams came true often enough. She knew that now.
"Hinata," Her father started, and she was regretfully aware that she trembled at that moment. A premonition bound to spell disaster. "Hinata, I have no choice but to do this. You have decided this for yourself."
"Father, I-" Hinata tried, though she knew it was useless. Her knees weakened and she slumped a little in her place on the hard tatami floor, and she was grateful that that movement would be hidden behind the table. She clenched her fists instead of her habit of touching her lips, because the weakness shown on her face didn't need to be pronounced further. Hiashi's hand was raised to silence her, but it didn't matter, since the words had stuck in her throat. Hopelessness overcame her.
"As the Hyuuga Clan's tradition dictates, the heir or heiress to the title of Leader to the Hyuuga Clan must be the first child of the current leader. However, the elders have found it wise to change things a little in order to preserve the honor of our clan. We must disband you in order to survive."
Tears had frozen on her eyelids, and she felt the words ring in her head. It was her nightmare turned to reality, only this time she wouldn't be able to wake up and escape; the hands of fate had finally caught her. The ominous clouds that had loomed over her for all these years finally sent the destined downpour, and her feeble umbrella she had conjured would never be able to prevent the worst of it. The walls seemed to close around her and press nearer, as if she were a caged animal. Being used to this feeling didn't make it any better.
"Hinata...you must understand this, the elders have found enough given reason to pass this decree. You have constantly failed missions, you give up easily, and you are weak and cannot match up to the requirements of being a ninja. You are not capable of even graduating to jounin level, and we find you unsuitable to be the future leader of the Hyuuga Clan. It saddens me, but I must disband you as a daughter as well as a Hyuuga."
Hiashi's face did seem to sadden a little, but he brushed it off as if emotions were just nusiances. Composure and coldness once again dominated his facial features, leaving Hinata flooded with self-hate and despair. She wanted to take off, but was unwilling to commit another disgraceful act. Bowing low, she waited to hear his final words.
"You may leave."
