This story is a fan made fiction based around the Naruto series (manga and anime), which is owned by Shonen Jump and its original creators (not me).

This story takes place three months after the Naruto gang's second attempt to bring back Sasuke.

Sasuke Retrieved; Mystery Savior Appears

 

The peace of a mountain valley, rolling forests, the sound of wild life, and then all goes silent. Energies are released ripping trees apart as two forces collide. Smoke rises from the crater created in the forest, blocking the sight of the powers below until another wave of energy blows the smoke away. The figures below radiate energies of dangerous sizes, their figures distorted by them to a point where neither can be identify. Around each is their own distinct power, one is a red flame of rage and anger, the other is the black void a vengeance and despair. They leap forward again to cause a resounding boom.

 

Another shock wave rolled out of the direction the two must have been fighting but the blue-black haired girl got little time to think about it as her opponent recovered and leapt forward.

 

"I really hope Naruto-kun is alright." she said as she came back to back with a black haired boy that looked much like her.

 

"He will be fine. You should worry more for yourself right now Hinata-sama." the boy replied as he reengaged with his opponent.

 

"Hai, Neji-nii-san." Hinata agreed as she parried an enemy attack. 'I do hope the others are all right as well.' she thought anyway as she continued to fight.

 

Her opponent was a masked ninja that knew to stay out of her reach and had already grazed her a few times with shuriken. He used range and terrain to keep the mostly taijutsu user away from him. As he avoided another attack by going around a tree he began to prepare a set of hand seals. Hinata saw him perform the seals but was to slow to avoid the attack with one of her hands still lodged in the tree.

 

"Tsuchi Ninjutsu, Earth Shackles!" the man called out and a pair of shackles formed from the very ground locked around Hinata's ankles. "And now you die!" the man stated as he lunged around the tree with kunai in hand.

 

"Uindo Kenjutsu, Hawk's Strike!" an unknown voice rose over the sound of battle. Wind ripped around the trees and struck the attacking oto-nin, cutting them down with deadly accuracy. Blood sprayed across the ground and Hinata as her opponent splattered to the ground.

 

She pulled her hand from the tree and found the earth bounds dissolved as Neji ran up to her. "Are you all right Hinata-sama?" he asked as he approached the blood covered girl.

 

"Ye... yes, I'm fine. Just a little..." she stammered as she tried to wipe more blood from her face. "But where did that attack come from?" she asked as she looked about the woods for the source of the slaughter.

 

She got little time as another wave of energy blew branches to the ground and threatened to knock them off their feet. As the wave subsided a burst of wind flowed back toward the direction of the energies, blowing the pair of Hyugas' hair about their heads.

 

"Is it me or was there a person in that wind?" Hinata asked, her Byakugon eyes wide in amazement.

 

"I saw it too, I wonder though what it could be or mean." Neji answered, as he too watched the parting wind. He thought for a second that he had caught sight of long dark green hair.

 

The dark energy and the fiery energy broke apart from each other again in a crash that ripped the landscape apart. As smoke and energies cleared the two figures became clear.

 

The one rapped in darkness had black hair with long side bangs. His red eyes were punctuated by what looked like three coma marks that spiraled around it. He wore a white open shirt and black pants. A purple rope tied in the back secured the pants and his sword, the bottoms tucked into his black sandals.

 

The fiery one had spiky blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He wore an orange and black jumpsuit, orange main with black seams. His Konoha headband was proudly displayed on his forehead and the pants of his jumpsuit stopped an inch above his sandals.

 

The two forces gave each other another withering glare before they launched at each other again.

 

"SASUKE!" the fiery vessel screamed.

 

"NARUTO!" the vessel of darkness echoed.

 

And just before their blows could connect it seemed that the very air sliced between them, sending them both back.

 

"That is enough!" the voice carried across the field of battle to both combatants.

 

They looked up to see the source was that of a girl around their same age and height. Her long dark green hair pulled into a ponytail at the crown of her head and ran down her back to stop just before it reached her waist. Her matching eyes scanned the two before her as the wind blew more smoke into the air and disturbed her white kimono and black hakama. Her kimono was secured down with body wraps, her obi, and metal guards for her arms and hands. Her hakama was secured similarly just around her ankles and thighs by more guards and wraps, which stopped just over her tabi and zori. At her side, secured by her obi, was a katana of silver and black.

 

"You dare to intervene." Sasuke declared with a deadly glare directed at the girl.

 

"I do."

 

"Then you will die!" Sasuke launched himself at the interruption with his sword drawn and ready.

 

'Focus. I am not to kill this one.' the girl reminded herself as she took a deep breath before deftly dodging Sasuke's strike.

 

Naruto was about to jump in when he felt the Kyubi stir within him.

 

'She can handle this.' it stated simply before receding back to its cage, taking its chakra with it, leaving Naruto in his normal and now perplexed state.

 

Sasuke continued to strike at the foolish girl and yet he could not touch her. She just evaded any strike and blow with the ease of one born around a sword. And all the while her hand only lightly rested on the hilt of her own.

 

"Why don't you draw your weapon, wench?! Do you fear to really fight me!" Sasuke goaded.

 

She made no reply but one. As Sasuke took a stab at her she deftly moved to the side before stepping in.

 

"This is over."

 

Her hand tightened on her hilt before pulling it out with bone crushing force up and into Sasuke's stomach. As the hilt connected she formed the hand around the hilt into a single handed seal.

 

"Tomoshibi Kenjutsu, Divine Light." she whispered as a blast of light filled the area around the two.

 

As the flash cleared from Naruto's vision he quickly leapt over to the where the pair had been. Sasuke lay on his back, his sword still resting in his hand. But his eyes, his eyes that stared up into the sky were vacant, as if he were dead. And yet the constant rise and fall of his chest clearly showed he yet lived.

 

Naruto let out a sigh of relief at the revelation that it was over. It was over and he could bring Sasuke back relatively unharmed.

 

A blood curdling scream ripped Naruto from his moment of peace. He snapped his gaze up toward the sound to see the girl that had subdued Sasuke curled into a ball on the ground as she trembled violently.

 

"Ex...Excuse me. Are you all right?" he asked nervously as he moved to crouch beside the green haired girl.

 

She suddenly sat bolt up right and grabbed roughly onto the front of Naruto's jumpsuit as tears ran down her face and she cried out. "NO! He didn't! Don't do it!" And then her eyes rolled back into her head and she fell back to the ground.

 

"What the?" Naruto mumbled as he looked down to see the girl peacefully asleep.

 

"Naruto!" rang out from the forest.

 

"Naruto!" came a similar shout from a different direction.

 

"Naruto-kun!" Hinata shouted as she made her way into the cratered clearing closest to where Naruto currently sat beside the two unconscious teens.

 

"I'm right here Hinata-chan." he called back with a wave over the craters dip.

 

"What happened?" she asked as she walked over.

 

"That's what I'm still trying to figure out." he replied as he stood scratching the back of his head.

 

Neji broke into the clearing a second later and looked over the crater for a second before turning to Naruto.

 

"Is it done?"

 

"It is."

 

Neji just gave a nod in reply before continuing. "We should regroup at the village then. I will let the others know."

 

"All right." He then turned and began to drape Sasuke across his back before turning to Hinata. "Could you help the girl Hinata-chan?"

 

"Hai." she gave a quick nod before taking the girl up onto her back.

 

They quickly set off into the treetops as all around that area their comrades finished up their own fights and followed suit. As all of the Konoha Rookie Nine and Team Gai broke away and made their own ways back to their home village, one figure stepped out of the trees and into the clearing of battle where smoke still clung.

 

The battered form of Kabuto grimaced as he clutched at his slowly healing arm and reviewed their losses. 'Orochimaru-sama will not like this.'

Kimono - a T shaped robe that may either be full length or waist length (for story purposes most kimono will be waist length unless stated other wise)

Hakama - a pleated divide skirt, sort of like wide pleated pants

Obi - fabric like belt used to secure kimono and hakama

Tabi - ankle high divided toe (usually divided between the big toe and the other toes) socks

Zori - cloth, leather, or grass woven sandals (Taka's are red cloth with bandages securing and protecting them)
