Author’s notes: Yo minna-san! Before I get started I have to say a few things, even though you might not care. ^^;;
I haven’t really attempted to write any fan fiction of any kind within the past year and a half, so I’m making an honest attempt at fan fiction again. Why? Because I miss it ;__; and its about time for this writer’s block to end. So I apologize if my writing has gotten a little rusty… So please, bear with me, and if anyone would like to be my beta-reader, just send me a line. ^^ This is my first Naruto fic, so criticism and praise are appreciated and requested.

Chapter 1
It seemed that almost every ninja within the Hidden Leaf had a mission, the exception being a certain blonde young man.
“ Kaka-sensei! You’ll come with me right?” The jounin’s eyes shifted from the orange paperback to where Naruto was nudging him in his side with his elbow.
“ Gomen Naruto, mission.” Kakashi replied, quickly returning to his reading. Naruto pouted and pestered his sensei more, but Kakashi seemed to have built immunity to his antics. The blonde ninja sighed, resigning to find someone else to accompany him.
Odd that so many ninja had missions, especially this time of year. The wind was chilly, yet snow had yet to fall on to the roofs of the village. The citizens were very cautious of the coming weather and every person or so would glance up at the sky a few times while they made their way through the streets of Konoha. Naruto could feel it too, the cold biting his nose and finger tips causing an upsurge of determination. The streets where relatively calm because of the absence of so many ninja, so Naruto had a difficult time finding someone he knew who would possibly agree to his request.
“ Kuso! Stupid Tsunade no Baachan! Sending everyone on missions except for me!” He kicked the ground in agitation, cursing silently to himself. Of course, he couldn’t really be angry at the Hokage for doing her job. After all, she hadn’t assigned Naruto to many missions in the past couple of days, which Naruto was especially grateful for. Normally, this would be nothing but an annoyance, but right now, in this season, Naruto had a special reason why he wanted this time to himself.
He just wished he didn’t have to go alone.
Naruto looked around, noticing that he was near Sakura’s and made a short jog the rest of the way to her house. Of course! Sakura would definitely come with him, and she was possibly the best person to go. Because she would understand more than anyone why this trip held great importance.

Tsunade glanced at the window over her shot of warm sake, neglecting the last bit of paper work that lay in front of her. She smiled as her cheeks grew warmer from the alcohol and the thought that her paper work was almost completed. Soon it would be relax time. A knock on her office door interrupted her daydream of a certain hot bath that awaited her.
“ Hai!” Tsunade answered, setting down her shot to welcome a certain special Jounin. Kakashi stood before her desk, a grin outlined in the dark material of his mask and a smile in his eyes.
“ How may I help you Kakashi?” Tsunade asked, wondering what the jounin had in mind. “ I’ve already given into your request not to send Naruto on any missions, now what do you want from me?” She was getting a little grumpy. She wanted to finish her work and take a nice hot bath with some sake. A lot of sake.
Kakashi’s grin widened, “ Sa, I’m grateful that would honored my request, however, I would be even more grateful if you would consider giving my current mission to someone else…” Kakashi scratched the back of his head, chuckling.
Tsunade shook her head, “ I’m afraid I can’t do that. I’ve already sent most of the Jounin on missions of their own, and this mission is an S-rank. I’m confident in your abilities in completing this mission more quickly than anyone else.” Tsunade’s face was hard as stone as she spoke, until a sudden hiccup broke the seriousness of her face. Kakashi chuckled.
“ Well, I guess it can’t be helped. Thank you for your time.” Kakashi bowed to the koinichi Hokage before swiftly turning on his heal to exist the office.
Tsunade sighed, looking down at the last few documents once more before considering her next course of action.
“ Bah, these can wait,” she picked up the bottle of sake, only to find it empty. “ Kuso… Shizune start me a hot bath, and don’t forget to bring another bottle of sake!”

Naruto walked slowly home to his apartment, utterly defeated in his attempt to find a traveling companion.
“ Ah Gomen Naruto-kun, but Sakura is on a mission also.” Sakura’s mother had informed him at the door of the Haruno residence.
He sighed heavily, “ I really don’t want to go on my own…”.
It wasn’t because he was scared of traveling alone, he just particularly disliked it. Reluctantly, he strode the path to his apartment home, in order to prepare for his lonesome journey.
‘The snow will soon fall, and the memory of that day will be clear. Now, I prepare to face the emotions of that day. I’ll see you soon…. Haku’
