Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ So You Think You Can Save Me? ❯ Session 2 ( Chapter 2 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Thankfully, Gaara's father had gone a way for a month. He had called Temari that afternoon to tell her. Gaara couldn't be happier. He hated the bastard... for obvious reasons. Gaara's mother died giving birth to Gaara. His father had never forgiven him for that, choosing to blame him for the death. The only reason, he says, he hasn't killed Gaara was because it was his mother's dying wish that he live. However, as Gaara grew up, his father was taking less and less notice of this, and Gaara was sure he would try to kill him sometime. Gaara didn't really care. If he lived, or he died, he didn't mind. Death didn't scare him like it seemed to scare other people. It was inevitable... why be scared?

However, he was glad his father hadn't killed him yet. Gaara had sworn that he would kill his father before he died. That was his one goal in life, a goal he wasn't willing to fail to achieve.

Gaara sighed as he carefully sat down. His body had suffered from the beating he had received this morning. He couldn't hold down any food, not that he really minded, but he could hardly breathe and he was in a lot of pain. Ah well... pain was cleansing for Gaara.

'Who was that asshole under my tree today? Fucken girly looking guy... I'll tell you...' Gaara didn't really care who he was that much... he just wanted to know so he could keep him away from his spot.
He'll be back tomorrow... what a joke...'
While it wasn't worth it, Gaara tried to sleep...

The Next Day
"Wake up Gaara!"
Gaara woke up... strange... he had slept for at least two hours... He looked up to see Temari smirking at him,
"Good to see you getting some sleep... but you need to get up little brother. How's the ribs?"
Gaara sat up and winced...
"Sore."
Gaara could see the pity in her eyes.
"Come on... let's get at least a little food in you."
Gaara went through his usual morning routine, before walking down to the table. Temari had already gotten him some toast and juice. While she might want him to eat more, she knew she couldn't get him to eat more than one piece. Kankuro was reading the paper... something Gaara was surprised at.
"Kankuro?" Kankuro looked over at Gaara.
"I didn't know you could read."
Temari laughed, the situation made funnier by the fact that Gaara was serious... he didn't know Kankuro could read.
"Ha. ha ha ha ha. Smartass... in a good mood are we this morning Gaara?"
Gaara didn't both replying, he just began to pick at his toast.
"You shouldn't be so mean to your big brother, especially when I went out of my way to get you this..." Kankuro held up a tube of ointment. He chucked it at Gaara who caught it.
"Its for the pain, it's a soothing gel that will help with the swelling, bruising and the soreness in your muscles. Works a treat."
Gaara looked up at Kankuro with his blank green eyes.
"Thanks." And continued eating his toast. They might not act like it, but the Subaku children actually got along rather well, they cared about each other, and Temari and Kankuro were very protective of their little brother.
They finished eating and Gaara gently rubbed the ointment in to his sides. Kankuro was right; it took away the pain almost immediately. After that, it was time for school.

Its lunchtime. And it's a bad day for Gaara. Today some of the wankers in his year level decided it would be a good idea to bash Gaara up, and in his weakened state he could do little to protect himself.
"Fucking little faggot" one of the guys said as they walked away, leaving Gaara lying there.
'Fucker... I'm going to kill them when I get better... Fucking father... if he hadn't done this I would have been able to defend myself... Shit, I have to go to the fucking nurse now...'
Gaara tried to pick himself up, but pain swarmed over him, and he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

Neji began the walk over to the willow. He was later than he was yesterday, so the red head might already be there. This boy had caught Neji's attention. He wanted to know why he was like that. He was, after all, the school's new resident shrink, and liked knowing how teenager's minds worked. As he walked behind some of the buildings, something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. A head of bright red hair, struggling to get up, falling down again, unconscious.
'Shit' Neji thought, as he ran over to the boy.
"What the fuck happened here?" He said under his breath as he slipped his hands under the frail boy's body to pick him up. When his hands touched his sides Gaara cried out, still unconscious. The side of Gaara's shirt had ridden up slightly, allowing Neji to see what was causing him so much pain.

Neji drew in a sharp breath when he saw the boy's skin. Deep purple bruises all over the boy's side and back. He had been attacked, brutally, but surely this hadn't been just from today's attack. He was extra careful as he picked up the small boy, carrying him to the nurse's ward. He went in the back way, to try to stop as many people as he could from seeing. He was lucky, most people were outside; only a few lingered in on such a nice day. Neji walked into the nurse's ward, Gaara still limp in his arms.
"Shit... what happened here?" Asked Tsunade, the schools nurse.
"I dunno... I found him unconscious in the yard. He's been bashed, badly. Look at his sides under hi shirt."
Tsunade directed Neji to the bed, holding Gaara in a sitting position while Neji carefully removed his shirt.
"Shit. This is bad." Tsunade said as she carefully examined the boy.
"This isn't just from today. There's no way these bruises would have formed that quickly. Most of the damage we can see was already there, I think."
Gaara had begun to stir.
"Where the fuck am I now?"
"You're in the nurse's ward. Calm down."
Gaara looked up into the same pale eyes he saw yesterday. Gaara frowned.
'Great... this jackass had to find me like that... just great...'
Young man, who did this to you?" Asked Tsunade as she lightly ran her hand over Gaara's ribs.
Gaara winced, it hurt, a lot, and he really didn't like being touched.
"Just some fuckers... I'm fine. Can I please go?" It wasn't really a question. Gaara didn't really expect a yes.
"No. Sit down, shut up. I mean, who attacked you first, yesterday, or the day before. This damage isn't all new."
Gaara looked down at the bed below him, trying to keep the anger out of his eyes.
"No one. I fell. Now, can I please go?"
Tsunade frowned at him, cross that he wasn't cooperating.
"You'll have to go to the hospital. I'm pretty sure you've got at lest 4 cracked ribs, if you're lucky. But first, we're going to see the principal. Hyuuga, you come too."
Gaara pulled his shirt back on as quickly as he could. Just doing that caused him nearly to black out from the pain again. He cried out, then hated himself for being so weak.
'The pain reminds you what your goal in life is. Use it, don't let it use you.' Gaara silently said to himself. Neji looked concerned.
Gaara got off the bed.
"Well, come on then." Tsunade said as she strode out of the office.

The school's principal, Jiraiya, sat with an impassive face as he listened to Tsunade and Neji's stories about what happened. Gaara just scowled. It wasn't like anything was going to be done anyway.. they were just wasting his time.
"So, Gaara, care to give us your view of what happened?"
"Not really."
"Ok then, let me put it this way; Gaara, tell me what happened."
Gaara sighed... but he wasn't in the mood to argue with the principal right now.
"Some fuckers beat me up, and tall dark and girly back there bought me in to see drunky."
Jiraiya sighed.
"Gaara, go wait outside my office for a minute. I need to speak with these two alone."
Gaara winced as he got up, but other than that didn't allow any expression to cross his face as he walked out. Sitting down on those uncomfortable brown chairs, he could hear voices murmuring inside. Couldn't thy just let him go? It's not like they cared about him anyway.

They were in the office for about five minutes. Gaara entertained himself by scaring the receptionist, and anyone else who walked in. It was the only interesting thing to do, after all. The man with the white eyes stuck his head out the door.
"Gaara, can you come back in here please."
Gaara rolled his eyes, but got up and walked back in. Jiraiya addressed him when he came back in.
"Tsunade tells me that the bruising you have isn't from today's attack, but that you won't tell her what caused it. We are all concerned for you,"
'Yah right' thought Gaara
"And have decided that should see the school counsellor until this can be resolved. You will see Neji here on Monday's, Wednesday's and Fridays for an hour. The times you will see him will be scheduled so that it isn't one class you are consistently missing. I have called your brother and sister up, they will take you to the hospital. That is all."
Gaara was livid. See some counsellor? Like fuck!
"No."
Jiraiya looked up.
"What do you mean no?"
"I mean you can shove it up your ass. I'm not seeing any counsellor."
Neji just smiled faintly.
"And here I thought you liked me."
Gaara just glared at him, he didn't have time for the man at the moment. Jiraiya continued working on his computer, as if Gaara wasn't even there.
"This is not negotiable Mr Subaku. You will see Neji on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's for an hour. Goodbye."
Gaara stalked out of the room... really fucking angry.
'He thinks he can make me spill my guts to some shrink, he's got another thing coming!'

"Shit Gaara... four cracked ribs... you're lucky dad's not here..."
Gaara scowled at the mention of their father. He had been given a prescription medication for the pain, but Temari had kept a hold of it. No way was she going to let Gaara keep this with him. She would give him the pills when he was supposed to take them. Gaara went up to his room and lay down on the bed.
'So... white eyes has a name... Neji.'
