Chapter One: The Return

Sun peaked threw the leaves in the canopy of trees. Wind rustled them ever so softly becoming a sweet melody that drifted along and across her smooth cheeks. She wasn’t asleep nor was she really awake, almost in the softest of day dreams yet she stayed alert. Sun slowly spread over her pale white skin, her eyes fluttering open quickly. A metallic silver/purple lock of hair brushed across the baby soft skin that was just above her mask that almost looked like bandages wrapped across her lower cheeks and across the bridge of her nose to down up under her chin. Sounds of training young ninja drifted along the breeze beckoning her to check out the training.

Kakashi set atop the memorial stone reading his usual ‘Come Come Paradise’ novels as the three young ninja hid in the brush and trees waiting to sneak up on him. Today’s training was an element of surprise. Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura were required to simply touch Kakashi-sensei even if it was a slight graze of a finger tip. Lunch would be delayed an hour for every attempt made that was unsuccessful. Naruto had already tried once, witch happened to not even come within touching distance of his sensei. Sasuke was quietly planning a plot with his mind to at least maybe graze him.

Kakashi wasn’t going easy on them one bit after he had seen what they could do when they set their mind to it. Naruto squinted sitting in a tree also plotting his own scheme to get lunch. It was already 2:30 p.m. and his stomach wasn’t getting any fuller. The thought of hot ramen inches from his face made his mouth water yet it was so far, just a fragment of his imagination.

Sakura slowly and quietly crept up to Sasuke setting her hand lightly on his shoulder just incase he had not herd her creep up next to him. Sasuke looked at her out of the corner of his eye. She could see the pin-wheal eyes he was using to watch Kakashi’s every move. The eyes showed what jutsu he was using, then he blinked and in that split second his usual dark eyes returned.

“He’s using the replacement jutsu.” he whispered, pointing out for Sakura to see where he was actually hiding in the tree above the memorial were his replacement set reading ‘Come Come Paradise’, flipping the pages every now and then. Then from out of no where’s Naruto came charging out of the tree, diving down toward the replacement Kakashi, but Kakashi had herd something unusual in the trees almost as if it was just the wind. He inhaled the light smell of a young female, quickly turning his head in her direction only to find that the scent was gone from there and in another spot. Was his mind playing tricks on him or was this for real. He then looked down at Naruto who was less then an inch from his replacement-self. Kakashi sighted and his replacement ‘poofed’ or disappeared as you would say, leaving Naruto to fall over the memorial and knocking the breath out of him for a second.

“What and idiot.” Sasuke whispered setting his head in his hand, sakura still at his side watching from their hiding spot. Sasuke quickly lifted his head, looking off into a dark area of the trees, his ears becoming more alert as he listened to the surroundings. He too felt the present of the female amongst the trees.

Kakashi took in the smell once more coming from another direction, letting the feeling of the warm breeze caress his skin. “Who are you? You seem so familiar… he spoke quietly almost not even a whisper. “Could it be?!? Is it you Reina?”

Reina or Ren as she goes by now set in the tree, stunned that she had come across her childhood friend . She knew it was Kakashi. She hand grew up with him, he took care of her, he was the one who fed herm clothed her, gave her a place to stay. Kakashi was her caretaker for the longest of time, being only four years older then her. By five he had already become a junin. Her parents disowned her when she was only 7 that was when he had taken her in. Kakashi grew up without parents just the same so he knew how it was and how to take care of himself and her. She said her goodbye to him when she turned fourteen after being on a ‘b’ ranked mission with him. He was the only one who knew where she was going but that was all he knew. The day she had left, just after the mission she remembered looking up at him and the mask that ha had adapted that bridged across his face just under his eyes, his headband covering his left eye and holding up his fluffy silver hair. Slowly she had slid the mask down off his nose, lips, and off his chin, leaning up and kissing his cheek “I’ll miss you Kakashi-sensei,” Ren had spoke looking up at him still “I will return…” leaving him with the kiss and a warm smile she had disappeared threw the trees.

Now she was back, longing just to hug him once more. She could no longer take it, dropping out of the tree and walking slowly into the opening amidst the trees. Kakashi was stunned, It was her! He lepted out of the tree landing on his feet, his eye that was able to be seen squinted aginst the sun as he watched her approach.

“Kakashi?” she asked making sure she was correct.

“Reina.” he replied smiling beneath his mask at her. She quickly broke into a run, jumping into his arms and hugging him. He too hugged his long lost friend, well not necessarily lost but she was gone along tome, squeezing her against his chest. “I missed you so much…” he whispered in her ear yet all she could do was nod.

Sasuke and Sakura walked out of the brush, Naruto from off the memorial. The were stunned watching the two embraced with each other. Kakashi was almost in tears for he hadn’t seen Ren in almost ten years. Ren was laughing with her face nuzzled into the crook of his neck. The ninja trio blinked watching them and trying to figure out what was happening before them.

“Who is she?” Naruto asked quickly turning to the other two. Sakura shrugged looking into the trees where she had appeared from, Sasuke stayed quiet, staring forward at them still.

Kakashi slowly released Ren who smiled at him beneath her mask witch was easy to tell because her eyes squinted a bit.

“So tell me, when did you adapt this? Trying to steal my trade mark are you?” he asked moving his had to her cheek, rubbing his thumb just along her cheekbone, making her laugh. “And my have you grown into a beautiful lotus.” he made her blush easily. Looking down quickly she giggled.

Naruto’s eyes got to about the size of his fist, Sakura’s jaw dropped and Sasuke’s eyes lifted “Is he flirting with her!?!” Sakura spat quickly looking very surprised.

Sasuke shrugged “He has been reading ‘Come Come Paradise’ all day.”

Naruto looked at the two giving then an awkward look then turning back to face in the direction of his sensei “I want lunch!!!” he yelled then fell on his back, his stomach growling loudly, Sakura’s and Sasuke’s joining in.

Kakashi looked over to them giving them an awkward look. “you haven’t touched me yet!” he replied to them, simply laughing then grinning. “Would you like to join us for lunch Reina? I’m thinking Ramen? I know you love it!” he teased wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

“ Kakashi, you think I’d pass up ramen. You know me better!” Ren laughed walking with him toward the group who was still stunned about what was happening.

“Come on guys, lets go get lunch. Today’s training is over early on the account that Ren has come back! Lets go get some ramen then y’all are dismissed!” Kakashi laughed, picking up his book off the ground quickly as they started walking then wrapping his arm back around ren’s shoulders.

“ Uh, Kakashi…My name is Ren now. Its better, I think, because of my age…” she laughed looking and watching the trio ahead of them, Naruto scrambling ahead of then screaming for ramen. She looked up at Kakashi then down at the book in his hand noticing the title. “You read Come Come Paradice?” she asked quickly tring to start a convorsation.

He looked at her and blushed a bit. “Yeah, its my favorite series.”

She laughed at that “Mine too! I like that part where the guy-” she was cut off by him joining him with her, “Yeah, when he was in the restroom with-” But then they were both cut off.

“Whoa! To much information! Keep your preverted minds to yourselfs.” she dashed ahead after finishend to catch up with Sasuke who was strolling slowly with his hands in his pockets. The pair laughed at the pinke haired ninja.

“ Sorry I’m not as pretty as I use to be. I have tried to get rid of my gut… I work out and all, it just dosnt go away…” ren talked softly after a while trying to start a better convorsation without being to forward.

“ What do you mean? Your perfect. I think you look better with some meat on your bones. I never was to fond of skinny women.” he spoke softly pushing a lock of her hair back behind her ear so he could see her firce pircing green eyes he had always loved. She laughed and blushed a deeper crimson looking to the ground once more.
