/His brother was closing in on him about to deal the final blow. With the last of his charka sasuke created a chidori and caught his brother in the stomach causing blood to splatter all over his pale skin. His brother, Itachi, fell to the ground in short breaths shortly after. Sasuke stared down at his brother in hatred. “I'm not weak anymore.” were the last words Itachi heard before falling into a darkness of which he will never return. Sasuke stared down at his elder brother then looked down at his blood stained hands in slight regret. Then his consciousness left him and he fell forward into a deep slumber…/

Sasuke awoke from his dream in fear and frustration. He had gotten his revenge but only after enduring night after night of reckless and blood-filled dreams did he realize that he was even more depressed and lonely then he was before. It was also then that he realized he actually regretted killing his brother seeing as he was the only person he had ever truly cared about, even if it was only for a short amount of time.

Sasuke was an ANBU now. After begging (well, more like demanding) forgiveness and reminding the Hokage that he had done her and the leaf village a favor by ridding them of a highly dangerous S-classed criminal did she allow him to stay although he was closely watched the first couple of nights.

Knowing he wouldn't be able to go back to sleep now, sasuke got up and headed to the kitchen to get a bite to eat before heading out to training.

Sakura leisurely walked to the Hokage's office after having been told Tsunade needed to speak with her.

Sakura had grown into a beautiful young woman, now at the age of 17. She had grown quite a bit taller and developed curves in all the right places. She had also lost her childish attitude and, now a jounin and exceptionally skilled medic-nin, had a much more serious and calm attitude.

She arrived at Tsunade's office and knocked. Hearing a hello she quietly ushered herself inside.

“Sakura, so nice to see you. It's been so busy lately I haven't had time to talk.” Said Tsunade after Sakura had entered the room. “Hai, it's nice to see you too Tsunade-sensei,” replied Sakura “what is it you wished to see me for?”

“Well I have good news.” Tsunade started “I'm temporarily bringing team 7 back together for an important mission. You are to escort the princess of the Hidden village of light back to her home. If she arrives safely, the Kage of the village has promised to ally our village.”

“Do you mean Kakashi-sensei too? It's been so long since I've seen him.” Sakura mused.

“Of course Kakashi too. Now you better get home to pack up. You'll meet the princess and your team at the gate in two hours.” Stated Tsunade.

“Hai.”

At the gate….

“Hey Sakura!” yelled Naruto happily as Sakura arrived at the gate.

“Hey Naruto, Sasuke, and..Kakashi! Your actually on time!” Sakura asked surprise clearly evident on her face.

“Of course! I couldn't be late this time. It's been so long since we've seen each other.” He replied happily.

A few minutes later the Hokage came walking up with a girl about the age of 13 wearing a beautiful blue kimono with silver dragons on it.

“Team 7, this is Mizuki, the princess. Mizuki, this is Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi. They'll be the team escorting you to your village.” Stated Tsunade.

“Hai” replied Mizuki.

“Well team,” started Kakashi, “lets go!”

The journey to the hidden village of light was very uneventful. Nobody seemed to be very talkative, not even Naruto. The village was not that far away. Not even a single ninja attacked on the way there either. After the princess was taken to her village and the kage gave his thanks team 7 started the journey back home. At about halfway there it started to get dark so they set up camp.

After minutes of arguing it was finally settled that Sasuke and Sakura would share a tent while Naruto and Kakashi would share the other one. Something to do with it being inappropriate that Sakura shares a tent with their perverted teacher and neither Sakura nor Sasuke would be able to stand Naruto's obnoxiously loud snoring.

“Night Sasuke.” Stated Sakura silently before laying down to sleep.

“Night” was the muffled reply she got from him.

Later that night Sakura awoke to soft crying coming from somewhere beside her. She sleepily looked to her right to discover that it was Sasuke crying in his sleep.

`Huh?' she thought to herself looking at his shaking form. She then slowly leaned over him and slightly shook him to get him to wake up…

Sasuke was having another nightmare about his brother when he felt someone shaking him. Quickly he opened his onyx eyes only to see curious emerald ones staring straight back at him.

“Sakura?” he stated surprised at first but them he remembered they were on a mission together.

“Sasuke? Are you ok?” she asked causing him to finally notice the tears rolling down his cheeks.

Remembering the dream he had he suddenly started crying harder. He closed his eyes and tried to stop the tears from falling. A minute later he felt warm arms embrace him and pull him closer to someone's warm body. Startled he opened his eyes to see that Sakura was hugging him.

“Shhh, Sasuke it's alright.” She said.

“No, it's not.” he suddenly heard himself saying, “My brother, Itachi, is finally dead. I killed him and got the revenge I wanted. But now, I'm just even lonelier then before and there's only one Uchiha left in the world because of me. I couldn't stop my brother from killing the clan and then I killed the only other member beside me.”

“Sasuke, you know, it's not your fault. You can't blame yourself. You were only 9 when your brother killed everyone. You couldn't have done anything to stop him and as for killing him, i'm sure that was a pretty good thing considering how dangerous he was.”

At these words Sasuke relaxed slightly but didn't stop crying.

“Sakura?”

“Hmm?”

“Can I ask you a question?” he started.

“Anything.” She replied.

“After everything I've done to you, why do you still stay with me?” This is something that had been on his mind for a while now.

Sakura's eyes widened in shock. This certainly was not the kind of question she was anticipating.

After a brief moment of hesitation, she leaned forward and whispered one sentence into his ear, causing his eyes to momentarily widen as well.

“Aishiteru…more then anything in the world.”

Upon hearing these words Sasuke leaned forward and kissed Sakura gently on her lips.

“Aishiteru Sakura, and arigatou for everything.”

Yes I did make up the village of light but I needed some excuse to get Sasuke and Sakura to be at least in the same room at night for this to work. Hope you enjoyed it! I don't really like it so much after reading it over. Please review… ThisIsMyLifeToLive
