Ritalin: Hello Everyone it's been ages since I've last given into my desire to write anything productive for my story. **cough** **cough** Parents **cough**. Anyway thanks for the review and please enjoy this lengthy chapter for your viewing pleasure.
Disclaimer****I do not own anything Naruto. If I did I would never allow anyone to see them so I could have the bishies in my basement.
Last time...
Kieras couldn't even gasp as her lungs collapsed, eyes rolling back into her skull as the foreign entity began making itself comfortable, charging her muscles and forging a bond with her very soul it would seem. Setsuna seemed to forget to yell as well, pain and confusion along with shock crippled her brain functions and muscles twitched as her own demon slithered within her body for a place to reside.
The two were blind to the world but even still they registered the invasion of their bodies not to mention the tug as they were hefted upward. Gravity apparently no longer applied as they floated up like abducted cattle and were swept through the inter-dimensional rift.
Their respective bodies were not their own to command, as the plummeted from the basement, to something that looked like it could have been a basement save for the stone hands erected and the strange multi-eyed structure.
They didn't even have the ability to reduce their free fall to the ground.
There was no sensation like the one that the two females were enduring at this point in time, no pain equivalent to what filleted their insides with heat.
It wasn't a gentle warmth seeking a place to settle and slumber, it was a violent, biped loathing energy that crawled through their mouths and filled them. The invasion brought on natural bodily functions, gagging on this thick, meaty entity that was no more physical than the air itself. There was no tangible body but the force of the creatures entrance could be felt throughout their sizzling systems. It poured down their throat and filled their chest, traveled further still until it reached their stomaches where it fed off of the concentrated energies that rested within both women but did not stay idle long enough for either to comprehend what was happening to their bodies.
Their unwelcome guest was not an accommodating roommate who would gladly alter minor parts of their behavioral patterns for the sake of this joint effort. The mythical lizard had no qualms with the protests made by their bodies that clenched and writhed in panicked fury as well as potent fear, a fear he drank in and relished as he continued to remodel his temporary quarters. The dragon's own psyche was strong and dominant, unrelenting and wholly concentrated on its own preservation not that of the reluctant hosts he'd ripped from an entirely different dominion. No his survival was key in this venture and whether or not Kieras or Setsuna would willingly oblige had not crossed his mind in the least. All he required from them was their physical bodies that would provide him with energy to sustain himself as he healed until he was capable of tearing his way back out into the world. Ah, yes that was what it would come to in the end. As he traveled his own elements had begun to circulate, modifying themselves in accordance to the new environment and ultimately forging a link between each host as well as their life forces. Forcing his departure would result in instantaneous death for the two females, albeit any form of extraction of this demon whether by them or his own doing would result in their demise. Snuffing out their existence was no more a concern to the dragon as a tick was to a lion, it was much too insignificant to contemplate.
Ryukaku chuckled darkly as he unveiled any hidden ailments as well as assets to each body he inhabited. Neither was proficient in combat a setback due to the fact that they would be arriving in less than friendly company. Their muscle structure was denied much physical training which would be unacceptable if he had any ideas of remaining in these bodies for more than an hour at most. He made a mental note to remedy this egregious oversight on his part as he trolled through the corridors of their bodies and souls, feasting on information and supplying his own in doing so. He wouldn't live long if they weren't at least proficient in defensive combat. With a guttural snarl of disdain for the humans inadequacy he filtered through centuries of observation and memory for an adequate amount of fighting knowledge, the compiled information soon registering in to muscles and memory of both women. It seemed such a tedious effort really, installing his knowledge of human combat to these undeserving mongrels...
Though they now possessed skills to protect their unforeseen guest, their bodies would have difficulties performing them seeing as they were unaccustomed to the strain they'd endure during an actual confrontation. It would be entirely up to the womens endurance on whether or not they could succeed - they would of course with time but nevertheless there was always room for sufficient doubt even when a being such as Ryukaku was involved.
Kieras felt her joints lock, the same could be said for Setsuna as they fell head first through that swirling vortex and cringed and cried as agony shredded their control and savaged their comprehension abilities. Neither could make out what was happening to them, blind to even the dragon at first until they could just see the shadowy contour flickering in and out of their clouded minds. Setsuna was recovering faster, this was deduced because she was able to release the first true scream between the two of them. The cry was shrill and hoarse, rupturing what silence had fallen in the wake of their arrival as all eyes both corporal and otherwise were trained on the two very real people that were falling toward the earth as the opened portal blinked out of existence leaving no trace of its presence behind - aside from them that is..
Setsuna felt a weariness encompassing her, swallowing her consciousness and fragmenting her thoughts and vision. Her body was unresponsive, nothing worked and if it did it wasn't hers to manipulate anymore. She was in pain, the kind of mind-numbing agony that you needed Vicodin for.
“I got it! I got it! I got -” Tobi's ecstatic voice sounded as he ran to and fro with his cloaked arms outstretched to catch one of the falling girls. He caught one, just not in his arms as most of us would have. The collision was audible as Setsuna crashed into Tobi who had taken one step too many and ended up having the disoriented female on his back rather than in his arms. Setsuna was feeling a new bodily discomfort thanks to his overzealous attempts. With a groan it was obvious Setsuna wasn't going to be thanking him for the attempted save as Kieras found a much more comfortable place to fall. She was the luckier of the two, that or her savior was that much smarter than his counterpart. The blond-haired Deidara hadn't had to move much to catch the other girl in his waiting arms, however his expression was visibly conflicted as to whether or not to drop or hold onto his catch.
“What the hell just happened!?” the melodramatic outcry came from on of those hazy images perched on the fingers that served as podiums for each member of the Akatsuki. This outburst was from Hidan who wasn't at all pleased with having to put up with these interruptions and his silent partner Kazuku didn't seemed to relish it any more than Hidan.
“I don't know. Hey, where'd the Juubi go anyways? He just disappeeeeeared.” Tobi responded from his place on the floor seeing as he'd made no progress in getting Setsuna off him, that or he was content to be a cushion a while longer as the girl righted herself at last.
“Just shut up Tobi, no one was asking you.” Snarled the ill-tempered Deidara who had finally made a choice a second before Kieras found herself flat on her bottom on the cold stone floor. With a yelp she sat upright, rubbing the newest of her aches as her skin tingled unpleasantly; it felt raw and new a sensation that made you think of birth not dimension-skipping. She wasn't given time to mull over how many Tylenol it was going to take before she could feel better because Deidara snatched up her right arm and dragged her up to him. Weak-kneed and barely having had the strength to sit upright there was no chance that the youthful girl was going to stand on her own without assistance and Deidara wasn't offering so she had to resign herself to being dragged. She glared indignantly into the green eyes that wavered suspiciously on her, weighing her down with a heavy irritation he felt for the predicament. The Ichibi he'd captured with the help of Sasori and now he'd nearly caught the Juubi until it had disappeared only to be replaced with two useless women. He couldn't understand how they were related and it pissed him off that his glory was going to be fulfilled this night, unless...
“Where's that Bizu woman? What's your connection with it?” he asked and not very politely Kieras noted, having also had a slight but misguided crush on the blond despite his unfortunate affiliation with the Akatsuki as well as being apart in Gaara's capture and initial death. Kieras would have liked to answer him if fire wasn't burning through her arm where his hand clasped her, that and if she could understand him. Either her brain was broken or she was hearing things backwards, but she was very sure that whatever he'd said wasn't English. But who needed common language to convey pain? “No touching it hurts!” she ground out as she managed to pry his fingers off and slump to the floor, vaguely aware that Setsuna was also on the ground now and Tobi had suddenly appeared behind the fair-haired bomber.
“Hey Deidara just be nice to them okay? They're good girls.” he pleaded as he scuttled behind him in that pleasantly innocent manner that had made so many viewers favor him until later chapters had been published. The view on Tobi was decidedly mixed now but neither Kieras nor Setsuna was willing to concede to that idiotic facade. They knew better. And they also knew that they were terribly screwed. Judging by the disbelief and anxiety displayed on her friends face Setsuna had to assume that Kieras was just as lost as she was in this scenario. Not just because they'd just been in a basement when a lizard came crawling through a dimensional gate and sucked them into an entirely fictional realm, but also because very much like the episodes they watched the speech of their captors was entirely Japanese. Neither spoke fluently and neither understood it to the point where replying was an actual option.
Answering them in English wouldn't help them, Deidara was currently looking just as puzzled as they did, even Tobi tilted his head sideways and watched them. Not answering them would make them mad and they'd had enough pain so avoiding it was a priority. Deidara continued to glare at them but the expression altered from one of anger to curiosity, he again he advanced on Kieras who drew her arms into herself as her only defense against his manhandling. “Why are you exiled? Just who are you exactly and how did the Juubi bring you here?” he asked, this time just a little nicer about how he spoke not that it helped any. The magic was gone and curiosity and malcontent replaced it as Kieras tried to process the question with what she knew from 'My Japanese Coach' on her hand-held Game boy system.
Piecing it together was easy, it was identifying what he'd said and trying to get it right as well as formulate a reply was the hard part. She'd never taken it seriously, learning Japanese had been a way to occupy her boundless time rather than a method to better herself. Now she was sorely wishing she'd been paying attention rather than playing for the sake of entertainment purposes only.
Desperately she looked to Setsuna, any bit of guidance would be welcomed right at this moment. “Got anything Setsu?” Kieras asked woefully, her friend raking her brain.
“He said something about where we were from I know that much. I think he said something about exile?” she made the last part a question because she wasn't completely assure that was what the inquiry had been about.
“Hey what are you saying!” Hidan shouted from his perch looking ready to charge over to them if it weren't for the fact that they were miles apart and the chance of a second encounter would be unlikely, mainly as they would probably kill them regardless of what happened.
Now with a vague idea of what was said it still didn't help Kieras because she couldn't figure out why he'd addressed her as exiled. Movement from the corner of her eye drew her gaze back to her friend who tapped her forehead suggestively and Kieras finally realized the motivation behind the question. Still wearing her exiled Ninja Headband for Suna she'd unknowingly labeled herself - whether this was a good thing or a bad thing was yet to be seen,
