...that he would let nothing take his little brother away. Itachi looked up at the moon. It was almost full. Two more days it would be. He sighed and walked inside where his father and little brother were now sitting. Sasuke came up to Itachi and showed him the paper that the examers had given him. He hwas gotten first place.

Itachi chuckled, poking Sasuke's forehead. "You still have a long way to go before you can surpass me little brother."

Sasuke rubbed his forehead and snorted. "That will come sooner than you think, Itachi"

Fugaku closed his eyes and folded his arms. "Enough you two. Listen. Itachi you have been asked to go on another mission tomorrow. You will be heading out to the southern part of the forest to capture some criminals with a new squad member. After that the Hokage wishes to speak to you, Iruka and Kakashi also want to see you, after that you need to go pick up a few things for your uncle, then go down to the police headquarters and pick up a report there. Sasuke will stay here and train with me."

Something turned in Itachi's stomach. Sasuke didn't smile. He was happy his father was spending time with him but he was upset because he was bearing down on Itachi again. Itachi sighed deeply and Fugaku glared at him. "Something wrong, Itachi?"

Itachi bit his tounge. "Nothing, father" Oh, how Itachi was dreading the comming day. He was still worn out from the ordeal with Shisui and wasn't sure he could hande everything. But he knew if he rejected his father would get angry and a fight would break out. For Sasuke's sake he mearly stood up and walked to his room.

Sasuke looked at the table for a moment or so before also standing up and walking back to Itachi's room. "Brother...?"

Itachi looked up from his Anbu uniform and glanced at him. "Yes?"

"Are you alright? Father wants you to go on so many missions and stuff tomorrow...are you...going to be okay?"

Itachi smiled at him and nodded. Sasuke walked into his brother's room and sat on his bed, watching him adjust the Anbu gear he would be wearing the next day. Sasuke pondered wether one day he would like to join the Anbu or not. It seemed very stressfull. Itachi tightened up one of the other bands then set it all on the floor by his bed. The curtain of his window was opened and they could see the moon.

"Almost full..." Sasuke said glancing up at it.

Itachi nodded and was silent for a while before turning to look at Sasuke from the floor. "Sasuke. Can I ask you something?"

Sasuke blinked at him and nodded. Itachi glanced at the moon again before turning back to him. "Sasuke, do you hate me?"

The younger brother was shocked. Itachi looked at the floor he was sitting on as Sasuke came out of the shock to answer the question. "No, Brother. Of course not. I could never hate you. Though...father said......"

Sasuke fell silent. If he told Itachi what his father had said Itachi might loose it for sure. Itachi asked him what it was but he remained silent. The older brother nudged him a few times. Still he was silent. Fugaku had told him not to follow in Itachi's steps. Basically telling him in addition, not to be around him.

"Sasuke...please tell me...." Itachi climbed up next to Sasuke and pulled him into his lap. Sasuke leaned against Itachi's chest. Still the younger boy was silent.

They both stayed quiet for a while. Itachi looked down at Sasuke again and realized he had fallen asleep. He picked him up carefully and walked over to his room. He laid Sasuke down on his bed and pulled the blanket up over him. Itachi leaned down and kissed Sasuke's forehead. Whatever it was he had to tell him would have to wait until he got home the next day. Itachi opened the curtain a bit, letting the moonlight shine in just barely. Sasuke's room seemed to glow a pale color.

Itachi smiled and turned to leave. He shut the door lightly and started walking down the hallway twards his room. As he did his father called out to him. He turned around and met his father's glare from the other end of the hallway.

"Itachi. I don't want you near your brother anymore."

These words sounded like another language to Itachi. His face turned into a confused frown. "...what?"

Fugaku sounded mean. "I don't want you near, Sasuke. You are a bad influence to the boy. Sasuke needs to stop following in your steps and start making his own for a change. "

Itachi's mind finally gripped on the words. He wanted Sasuke to stay away from him. Bad example? How so? He had always been a good brother to Sasuke so why was he saying this now. "What do you mean bad influence?" His words were hostile as his Sharingan flared into life.

"I'm telling you just stay away from him."

"No! He's my brother. I won't!"

His father growled. "I'm telling you for the last time Itachi!!"

It happened in a quick flash. A rapid burts of chakra took over Itachi's body. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a shuriken. His father didn't have enough time to react. Before he even saw Itachi pull it out it flew past him, leaving a slash across his left arm. He yelled out in pain as he fell to his knees looking up at Itachi's furious eyes.

Mikoto came out from the kitchen and gasped as she saw what was happening "Ita...!"

Itachi was glaring down at his father. His mother looked frightened but he wasn't interested in her at the moment. Instead, Itachi walked back to Sasuke's room and picked up his sleeping brother into his arms once again and leaped out the window with him. He went far away from the house, Sasuke sleeping in his arms the whole time. He finally stopped on the roof of a house and meerly sat by the edge.

Sasuke awoke slowly about 10 minutes later and looked up at Itachi's soft and calm looking face. "Brother.....? where.....?"

Itachi put his finger over his brother's mouth. "Don't worry about it....just go back to sleep okay....?"

Sasuke's head nodded slightly as he tried to stay awake. He looked up at Itachi's smiling face and that was the last thing he saw before he fell back asleep in his older brother's arms. Itachi stayed there with Sasuke for a few hours before putting him on his back and walking back twards the Uchiha part of the village. The streets were all silent. Itachi would have to make ammends with his parents when he returned, majorly.

He walked back into the door of the house.
