Chapter 10-The Half-Truth
I bit my lip and knew that Kaminari would know I would lie. I took a moment and just told the half-truth.
"I went to see Kabuto and he gave me something from my old friend, Tsuki Hana. He told me that Tsuki is now in a hospital in Suna. A group of rouge ninja destroyed her home and killed her family; I'm going there tomorrow if I can," I said.
Kaminari didn't look convinced, "Your arm?"
Here I told the truth, "Kabuto threw a kunai at me and sliced my arm open."
Kaminari gave me a strange look and stood up, "Why?"
"Look, it's just something I can't say," I said forcing my gaze to the window and out to the moon that was peaking out beyond the clouds in the night sky.
"Fine, but if that guy comes around again I won't hesitate to take out unknown anger on him," said Kaminari giving me a small smile.
I smiled back, somehow she knew I was lying but wasn't going to press me to tell everything. It's quite strange and weird how some friendships work that way.
Kaminari turned and walked to the door.
"Kaminari-chan?"
"Hmm?"
She turned back to me.
"Will you tell Lee-kun thanks for me? I really love the roses," I said my eyes flying to the vase where the six red roses stood.
Kaminari's eyes widened a bit as her gaze fell onto the flowers. I could tell she was quite startled by them but she eventually turned her head to the closed door.
"Sure," she said quietly.
I tilted my head to the side for the hundredth time that night but shrugged and layed down on the bed. Kaminari still hadn't moved, I wondered if the roses meant something.
"You know Kaminari-chan, I like your brother. Lee-kun's really nice and cute," I said and inhaled the scent of another rose.
Kaminari rushed out into the hall and quickly closed the door behind her, almost slamming it and embedding it into its frame.
I put the rose back and relaxed as I stared at the moon before closing my eyes and falling asleep.
