Chapter 6

 

Konoha

 

Konoha was quite busy at this time. With the Chuunin exams taking place the businesses were preparing for tourists. But Naruto didn't care. The only thing on his mind right now was ramen. Not just any kind of ramen, but Ichiraku's Ramen. After he ate 4 bowls he headed down a seemingly random street. He estimated it would be 5 minutes before they would show up so he pulled out his Wilk's PDD and started reading up on his to do list. “Hmm… I wonder how I should approach Orochimaru in the forest. Should I come out, guns blazing? Or should I hold back and let things run their course? Whatever I choose, I will lose. I guess I should hide my abilities so as to surprise him later. Kabuto is going to be tricky. I'm going to need to keep a close eye on him and make sure he doesn't suspect anything. Oh, here they come!”

Down the street came an older girl with four pig tails and a teenager with a mummy strapped to his back.

“Hey num-nuts, which way is it to the hotels?” asked the older boy.

“Don't know Kankuro. I would guess in the tourist trap.” Replied Naruto.

“Well thanks for noth… Hey! How did you know my name?”

“I know lot's of things. I know that she is your sister Temari, and you are currently waiting for your younger brother Gaara.”

“Wha… Have we met before? I think I would have remembered your face if we had” the girl said

“You wouldn't believe even if I told you. And besides, my understanding of Temporal and Quantum Mechanics is limited at best.”

“Temporal and… Wait, we met in another time?” she said

“I can't disclose that information as of yet. The only reason I am here is to deliver a message to you and Gaara. The sender could care less about Kankuro”

“Hey, I'll kick your ass for that!” said Kankuro

“You're welcome to try. The last time someone tried to fight me was a rogue Chuunin who I gutted and slipped an explosive tag into his stomach. And since I know your moves, I can counter them with ease.”

“Why you little…”

“Enough Kankuro.” Said Temari “He intrigues me. Most people have never heard of Quantum Mechanics, let alone Temporal. Only someone who studies space AND time would know both, and they are mostly time travelers. So what do you know about me?”

“As I said before, I can't disclose that information.”

“But why not?”

“First of all, I know your mission, which makes us enemies.” Temari and Kankuro gasp, “Second, I don't want to ruin anything for you. My sensei says that it's better to learn yourself than be told.”

“How do you know of our mission?”

“Because I have lived through it. The reason I'm here is to reveal to you certain truths about your mission. As soon as Gaara arrives I will talk about it… speaking of which, have you perhaps attempted to have the Toad Sannin work on Gaara's seal?”

“Wha…”

“I said I have already lived through this. Jiraiya could probably fix Gaara's seal so he doesn't go berserk. Speak of the devil, here's Gaara”

Just as he said that a red haired boy appeared in a swirl of sand.

“Good of you to join us Gaara. I see time has favored you equally as well”

“I don't know you.” He said

“But I do, Gaara of the Desert, Jinchuurinki of Shukaku. I am like you, hated by my own people. But we have time for that later. I was sent to give you and Temari a message. Gaara, Temari, tell your sensei that the Dark Heart says there is something of grave importance in a crater 13 miles southeast of Suna. You can find the location by looking for vultures circling over an outcropping of rock. It is of necessity that you investigate this site, since it may lead to the discovery of certain individuals who disappeared some time ago. End message. The inn you're looking for is over that way and is next to the Yamanaka Flower shop. I'll see you soon.” Naruto then turned and walked back towards his apartment. “I better get some training in while I still can” he thought as he walked.

 

Later that week.

“Let's head in guys” said Naruto

“Ne” said Sasuke

“Ok” said Sakura.

They went inside the compound. At the front of the hallway was a pair of Chuunin blocking a door. “Here we go” thought Naruto. “You all are aware that the room where the first exam is being performed is on the third floor” Naruto yelled out. This caught everyone's attention. Needless to say the Chuunins' Scam was found out. As they headed towards the exam room they were accosted by an older boy wearing green spandex.

“Hi,” he said, “I'm Rock Lee. Want to fight?” he asked
“Are you trying to pick a fight with me?” asked Sasuke

Lee looked confused “No, I am not trying to pick a fight with you. I was asking him if he wanted to fight” he said pointing at Naruto.

Naruto got a bad feeling about this. This wasn't in the scenario. “I knew I should have let Teme mention the scam” he thought.

“My name is Naruto Uzumaki, and I would be honored to spar with the pupil of Konoha's Taijutsu Expert! But you are aware that fighting at the Chuunin exams is expressly forbidden unless sanctioned by the Proctors, so I must decline at this time. Perhaps when the exam is over we can fight and test our Taijutsu skills” said Naruto

“Then may your Springtime of Youth be upon you!” Lee said as he walked back to where he came from.

They then continued on through the double doors in to a room filled with Chuunin hopefuls.

“SASUKE-KUN!” yelled a sickeningly familiar voice.

“Ne” said Sasuke

Approaching them was Ino-Shika-Chou.

“Hey billboard brow, Naruto” said Ino.

“Hey Ino-Pig” said Sakura

“I see that Sasuke got you all nominated for the Chuunin exams eh?” asked the blonde girl.

“Actually, we were nominated because of Naruto, and how he handled our mission to the Land of Waves”

“Why would you be nominated for a single C-Ranked mission that Naruto happened to succeed at? I mean, I was expecting all the C-Ranked missions that Sasuke succeeded at would be what you were nominated for”

“Well, our only C-Ranked mission got reclassified as an A-Ranked mission due to the involvement of some powerful missing ninja.”

“WHAT!” yelled Ino. Shikamaru looked amused.

“Yeah. Naruto handled it quite well. He killed one missing ninja, got another 2 missing ninja to join us, and took out 132 thugs, all within one week. So pretty much, he got us nominated. I feel so dirty. I don't like being Naruto's Flunky and neither does Sasuke”

“Flunky!? Naruto-Baka, shame on you!” Ino yelled at Naruto

“Don't yell at Naruto, Ino. He did what was best for the mission and that's all that matters” said a kid wearing sunglasses who was approaching them. He was followed by Kiba and Hinata.

“Shino, you're here to? That's great!” yelled Sakura.

“And then there were nine” said Naruto, quite philosophically.

“So troublesome. Great job on you're a-Ranked mission Naruto. It was probably quite troublesome” said Shikamaru.

“Y-yes Naruto-kun. Con-congratulations.” Said Hinata

“Great, so the Baka's better than me? What next, Sasuke's gay?” said Kiba

“KIBA!!!” yelled Ino and Sakura simultaneously

“What? Since you fan girls hound him all the time I doubt he will ever have a relationship with a woman. It's just speculation.”

“Well… Kiba does have a point. Fan Girls are not conducive towards a healthy sex life or a mature relationship. Hell, his patented Death Glare doesn't even work any more. That's how much fan girls have damaged him.” Said Naruto

Just then a man with a scarred face poofed in with a bunch of Jounin. “Quiet! I am Ibiki Morino and I will be your Proctor for the first part of the exam.

 

Later, when the exam begins…

 

“Ok, not so difficult this time around. I already know all the answers. But I won't answer any until the last minute. May as well meditate” thought Naruto.

 

Later at the Forest of Death

 

“This isn't good. I know we didn't start at gate two the first time. I think something bad is going to happen” thought Naruto.

 

5 days left…

 

“I hope we don't run into Orochimaru. I have a very bad feeling about this timeline” he thought.

 

4 days left.

 

They were about to take a rest break when he appeared. He attacked without warning, using his killing intent to paralyze Sakura and Sasuke.

“Damnit… I was hoping to avoid him” thought Naruto. It was up to him to face down the rogue Sannin. He assumed his newest stance: Feet at right angles and slightly apart, hands held over chest, one cupping the other with index fingers extended, the stance of Snake Style Kung Fu. The battle was very one-sided. Naruto hadn't spent enough time training with this body to stand a chance against Orochimaru, and he knew that he had no chance of winning. At least he stored their scrolls in his void pocket. Naruto attempted a one-finger-tip attack so as to slow Orochimaru down, but he just grabbed his left arm and twisted until there were several sickening snapping sounds. Naruto screamed. He tried to hit Orochimaru with his right arm but he caught it and pulled it out of its socket, nearly tearing the limb from his body. Naruto screamed. Orochimaru then bit the left side of his face, paralyzing it with venom., thus shutting him up. Then he lifted Naruto's jacket and shirt and hit him with the five-pronged seal. Naruto passed out from the pain.

 

3 days left…

 

Naruto and Sasuke both finally awoke. They then headed towards the Tower at the center of the Forest of Death.

 

The last day…

 

They finally arrived, and there was no incident. Naruto released both scrolls from his void Pockets. Sakura and Sasuke opened them. It was Iruka-Sensei who greeted them, until he saw Naruto. Both arms were gangrenous, and the left side of his face was pale and drooped. He unfortunately could do nothing them, as it was forbidden. They entered the room with the rest of the gennin. All eyes were on Naruto, and his obviously irreparable damage. But, due to their laws they had to proceed. Naruto declined to drop out, he was going to stick to it till the end. No difference to the fights until Naruto's Turn.

Kiba looked on in pity. “This is not going to be fun Naruto. I don't want to hurt you. Please, concede defeat”.

“I… Will… Fight” Naruto said haltingly

“But Naruto, you won't stand a chance against me in your condition. Just concede and go see a medic Ninja.”

“I… Will… Fight”

“But Naruto…”

“I… Will… Fight! My… Nindo… is… to… never… give… up”

“It's your funeral. Beast Mimicry!” he yelled.

Naruto assumed a squatting position. If he had use of his arms he would have looked like a dog begging for scraps. He was in the stance for Kuo Ch'Uan Dog Boxing Kung Fu. Kiba didn't stand a chance. Naruto leaped into the air and delivered a Drop Kick staggering Kiba as he then unleashed two wheel kicks straight to Kiba's head.

Kiba was out for the count.

When it came time for Lee's bout with Gaara he took Lee aside. “Con… cede…” he said.

“What?” replied Lee

“Won't… win… will… die… no… match… Gaara… to… pow… erful…”

“But…”

“Concede… please…”

“I-I… Concede”

Gaara looked nonplussed.

 

 

Depressing isn't it? Don't get mad at me. I know I fucked Naruto up, but bear with me. The story isn't even finished. Adversity must be overcome. I have overcome my fear of rejection and began writing this story. So bear with me. The Dark Heart shall reappear next chapter, along with the Chikage himself. So please, stick through it.

 

P.S.: Don't hate me… It will work out. May be not a Fairy tale ending, but still.
