The apartment was comfortable. Definitely more comfortable than being anywhere near the Hyuuga compound. In two days from now, the real test begins. She needed to prove that she did change, not just the attitude but as a shinobi. She has more power now. More than she ever thought she knew.

 

“Kurenai-san, is there anywhere we can train without many eyes to watch?” Yuu ask, Hinata swore she could feel him flirting.

“Ma, there's the training grounds, but I don't think it's wise to show anyone your jutsu's at a time like this.” Kurenai eyed the suspicious black haired man.

“Father, why are you asking a question you already know the answer? Didn't you just ask Hinata just now?” Tamiko purposely said out loud. Yuu flared up red and gave his `precious' subordinate a good whack on the head.

“Itai!” Tamiko said holding his now lumpy head.

 

Kurenai simply laughed and turned to Hinata. She gave her ex-subordinate a hug then left.

“Father, you are aware that all the other contestants of the exam are living in this building as well.” Kin in a matter of fact tone.

“Fine, fine. Ma, I'm hungry lets eat. I heard there's a diner next door” Yuu said while looking out the window. He realized that all the other apartments only had one window. This one had a corridor outside heading towards the roof. He took a look around the room and realized the outstanding decorations and facilities.

Kin notice her sensei's behavior.

“This room's different eh?” Kin remarked.

“Yeah, Konoha's really rich. Even contestants get such luxury! Yatta! I want the biggest room!” Tamiko yelled while running towards a random room.

Hinata noticed it too.

“Lets go” Hinata waited at the open door. Ignoring this suspicious luxury Yuu and his two other subordinates went along. On her way out Hinata too distracted in her mind to notice another's presence. She bumped into another person.

“Hey what the hell?” the person yelled pushing her aside. He held her up by the collar.

He was strong. Yuu, Kin and Tamiko tensed where they were. They weren't worried for Hinata, they were worried for her captor.

He had a Mist forehead protector on. He looked strong. Behind him two of his friends dressed almost alike were smirking evilly hands crossed.

“Well, well. So this is her? Hmph!”

“Hinata, let go” Yuu voice was tensed.

“Hmph, what the hell is your idiot old man saying eh? Who's holding who?” the bloke stretched back ready to punch her.

He swung with all his might ready to take her down. Fist ready to collide with Hinata's face. Inches away to hitting his target.

Suddenly a loud whack was heard.

Hinata's left hand was holding his fist, just inches away from her face.

The person's smile dropped. Hinata's hand was glowing blue. Her once-was captor gasped in horror feeling the strange chakra emitting from her hand.

“Put me down” Hinata said in a monotonous voice staring into his now frightened eyes. Even the other two took a step back.

He waited a few moments before obeying.

“Hinata, let go” Kin said.

She smirked. The person screamed in pain. Yuu remained calm on the outside. He was a little worried but he trusted her. Hinata leaned forwards to whisper in his ears.

“Let's wait for the competition, shall we?” Hinata's voice was low. Low beyond her normal voice.

He shot back as if being burned and struggled to release from her grip.

Tamiko placed his hand on Hinata's shoulder. She released him. He immediately fell on the ground than scrambled out of the way.

Hinata gave a sweet smile.

“Don't worry, it'll heal.” She said still smiling. Hinata didn't notice the crowd gathering and some even popping their heads out from the door. Hinata took a look around.

“Hmph, look what you've done.” With that she walked ahead towards the stairs ignoring the stares and whispers.

 

“She's a Hyuuga”

“Did you see what she did to that Mist guy?”

“She's scary”

“Who is she?”

“I heard she was disowned. I see why now.”

Upon hearing the last remark Hinata stopped and half turned her head back looking at the person who was talking. Everyone shot back and silence fell.

Team Yuu just attained a new knowledge about their pale eyed comrade. But none said a thing until the meal was served.

 

No one dare to bring up the topic. Instead they talked about Kurenai and how pathetic the Mist guy was. They laughed, and the team wasn't as tensed as before. They had fought many battles together. Hinata's tendency to be cruel wasn't new. At one time, Yuu stopped her just in time to prevent her from blinding a certain enemy.

 

There was a commotion outside coming into the diner.

“Hinata!” a familiar voice yelled.

He jumped towards her and scooped her in his arms. He turned a few rounds flailing her legs in the air. Hinata notice how much taller he had grown. They were already sixteen

“You're alive! Your hair, it's longer now.” Naruto said after releasing her from his enthusiastic hug. She took a look at his face, same blond hair, same whiskers. He didn't really change. She gave a week smile.

He was still holding her at the shoulders. She couldn't explain it but sudden darkness took over. Her blood seems to rush to her brain at a very high speed. She feinted.

“Eh, Hinata?” Naruto's voice faded. The noise was fading when she suddenly drifted into unconsciousness.

 

Seem like the entire Konoha was at the hospital. All squeezing into that small `private' wad. All her old friends were there. Glad that she was alive. It took Kin and Tamiko all their energy and patience to explained the whole incident from day one till now. Of course they left out the part where Hinata tried to kill, blind or cripple anyone. Most of them were chunin already, except Naruto and Sai. Apparently, Kin and Tamiko already got acquainted with their new found friends. She didn't see Kiba or Shino. Wonder where they are? She thought silently to herself.

 

About three hours later, they finally gave up and left. The only ones who stayed back were team Kakashi and the team Yuu.

 

“Hinata?” Naruto ask randomly.

“Yes?” What is it? Naruto kun. She was quite surprise at her own reactions. For a moment there she felt like her old self. The old Hinata.

“Why are you always fainting when you see me? Do you faint all the time?” Naruto blankly asked placing two hands behind his head. Sakura flinched and landed a fist on Naruto's head.

“Baka Naruto! Don't ask stupid questions you baka!” She scolded.

To everyone's surprise, Hinata blushed. Yuu, Kin and Tamiko never seen her blushed before. From the moment they met her, she was cold, stoic and emotionless. What's this other side they're witnessing now?

 

“Ha ha! Hinata chan, you're blushing!” Tamiko blurted out. As a result he received a fist on his head. At that moment both Sakura and Kin cave each other a wink while the two defeated boys frowned at each other.

 

Unexpectedly, Sai laughed. It wasn't a fake one though.
