Chapter III

Chuunin Exams

 

“Naruto-kun? Why won't you go out with me this once?” I hear Sakura ask, voice a little pleading.

 

“Why aren't you chasing Sasuke? The only reason you want to go out on date is because you know that if I have something Sasuke wants, like power and affection, he tries to take it!” Venom clearly seeping through my words.

 

Sakura stood there looking at me shocked, before dropping her gaze to the ground. “Why are saying that, I like you, I LIKE YOU!” She yells.

 

“No you don't! You love him; all you see in me is admiration. I saved a soul and changed him, that's all you see. A delusion of affection.” I whisper, hurt unknowingly slipping into my words.

 

“Why-why are you being-.” I cut her off, finishing for her.

 

“So cold?” I whisper again. “I'M BEING COLD BECAUSE AS SOON AS SASUKE SHOWS INTEREST IN YOU, YOU'LL DROP ME LIKE I'M LAST WEEKS NEWS! THEN WHERE WILL THAT LEAVE ME, HUH!? YOU LOVE SASUKE! DON'T YOU GET THAT HARUNO!? IF YOU LOVED ME, YOU WOULD HAVE LOVED ME LONG AGO!” I yell, letting louse all of the frustration that has been building up since I met Sakura and learned that I'll never have her. Staring at me teary eyed, she runs away, crying.

 

“Kit…” Starts the Kyuubi in a dangerous tone. “You just threw away a chance with Sakura! That can't be the only reason you're rejecting her. What's the other reason?”

 

`YOU WANT TO KNOW!? DON'T YOU THINK IT HURT TO REJECT HER!? THE REASON I REJECTED HER WAS BECAUSE OF YOU!' I yell at him, finally releasing all the rage that had formed over years of rejection, pain, heartache and seclusion. `AS LONG AS YOU LIVE IN ME, ANY ONE WHO PUPLICLY SHOWS LOVE FOR ME IN MORE THEN A FRIENDLY WAY WILL GET HURT! SHE'LL GET GLARES AND TREATED WRONGLY! SHE'LL BE IN CONSTANT DANGER FROM THE AKATSUKI! FINALLY, NINJA SHOULD NEVER SHOW AFFECTION AS MORE THEN FRIENDSHIP! IF REVEALED THAT THEY ARE LOVERS, THEY CAN BE THE MAIN TARGET FOR CAPTURE!'

 

“That…that was going toofar Kit. You know I wouldn't do this on purpose…” Replied the Kyuubi, really sounding hurt.

 

`Sorry…it's just, what I said was the truth, but I don't blame you. I shouldn't have snapped.' I apologized.

 

“Kit, what about Sakura?”

 

`I stick to what I said, she cannot love me.' With that, I was off to find Kenzaka.

 

(Sakura's P.O.V.; Haruno Household)

 

“First Sasuke, then Naruto, what's next? My parents rejecting me?” I cry out, muffled by my pillow. “Neither likes me, and both hate me. Why was I placed on their team? Why did I want Naruto? Why does my life suck?” I continue, rambling.

 

“Would you be quiet already!? I'm trying to get some sleep here!”

 

`I can't believe I'm saying this, but…could you help me?'

 

Silence.

 

“Oh my god! Hahahahahahahaha! I can't believe you actually asked for my help!” She continued laughing to the point where she couldn't breath. (Is that possible?)

 

`Shut up! I need it, okay?' I shot back, frustrated.

 

“Okay, okay, I'll help! Well, personally, I like Naruto-kun better! Sasuke'scool and all, but he's a stuck up snob! Whereas Naruto-kun is sweet, kind, HOT, strong, loving and most important, he'd die before he let anything happen you. Do you see where I'm coming from?”

 

`You heard him! He doesn't love me! He hates me! I used to treat him like shit and now I'm paying for it! He says I love Sasuke!' I yell.

 

“BAKA! Didn't you hear the hurt in his voice? Even when yelling at you, it was there, and in his eyes. I think he loves you, but he doesn't want you to love him.”

 

`Why?' I ask, thoroughly confused as to way he wouldn't want me to love him.

 

“Haven't you noticed all the glares he receives? When he was younger, he was beat senseless by the two Chuunin, remember? Naruto's life is probably harder then Sasuke's. Yes, Sasuke has experienced love and lost it, but there is a saying I once heard `Better to have experienced love then to have never had it'. Naruto, he's never had a family. He's lived alone his entire life, fighting to be noticed. In my eyes, I'm surprised Naruto isn't a mass murderer. I bet he thinks you'll get hurt liking him, hurt by the villagers.”

 

`I guess, maybe I should ignore the feeling I have for Naruto. He doesn't want me to get hurt, so that's the most I'll ever get from him…' Again I feel the hot, wet and salty tears running along my cheeks, pooling at me neck. Wiping them away, I stand and go to the restroom to destroy the telltale marks of tears.

 

(Naruto's P.O.V.)

 

I could feel it growing, the disgusting feeling welling in my chest, it grow every time I thought about Sakura and the fight we had. Shaking my head, I continue to walk, wanting to go to sleep so I could sign up for the exams.

 

`Oh yeah, I'm supposed to train with Kenzaka-shishou (Master)…' I thought, while charging chakra to my legs and feet, feeling the tingle of chakra flowing. Running with Jonin like speed, I like the feeling of the wind batting my face. Turning a corner with the traction I got form the chakra, I bump into someone. Noticing it was woman, I grab her hand that she was holding out and tugged her up.

 

“Sorry, running a little to fast.” I apologize, stepping away to get a better look.

 

“You better be sorry! Next time look where you're going!” The woman snaps, and I instantly know who it is. Temari Nara; well at least in my past life, now she's just Sabaku no Temari (Temari of the Desert).

 

Backing up, I notice Kankuro, but no Gaara. “Ano, I should get going.” I say, sidestepping them.

 

“You…what's your name?” I hear a dark voice ask form behind me.

 

Turning around, I see Gaara there, arms folded like always. “Uh, my name is Uchiha Uzumaki Naruto. You are?”

 

Silence. “Gaara.” He says before walking off, Kankuro and Temari in tow.

 

Sighing, I thank Kami for the tension in the air wearing off. Restarting, I run as fast as I can with the weights at their current limit.

 

“Kit.”

 

`Yeah Kyu-kun?'

 

“I figured something out…you know of the malice chakra, but what you didn't know is…. that it's tainting you. You're slowly getting more violent and becoming unstable.” He says in a foreboding tone, causing me to shiver.

 

`I-is there any way to fix it?'

 

I heard the great beast sigh before answering. “The only way is to seal off your malice chakra and suppress both mine and yourdemon chakra, so that the seal I place upon the malice does not break.” At this, my chakra flared. I was getting angry, just like Kyu-kun said. Taking a deep breath, I let it out slowly.

 

`So, I'd be stuck with my sealed chakra level?' I ask, already knowing the answer.

 

“Yes, the only time I'll allow you to tap into demon is when the Mantengan is active. Besides that, you're stuck at high Jonin level chakra.” Sighing, I nod my head for no apparent reason, knowing he couldn't see it.

 

`Alright Kyu-kun, do it.' Running a few more feet, I feel like my head and stomach were in magma, searing with such intense heat that it was hard to not scream. I couldn't take it; I was about to scream when the pain subsided, getting up from the ground, I notice that I feel a little weak in the knees and legs.

 

“A little side effect of the process.”

 

Stretching, I quickly get over the lax muscles, running towards the training grounds once again. I could already feel my spirits lifting as I grinned again, all feeling of brooding leaving my system.

 

`I should apologize to Sakura…' I thought as I remembered this morning. `But she still can't love me. Sakura loves Sasuke and always will, I'm just her friend.' I steeled my resolve right there.

 

Making my way to the training ground, I see Kenzaka-shishou sparing with three clones.

 

“Hey Kenzaka-shishou!” I yell as I land. Glancing in my direction, she dispels the clones before smiling back.

 

“Hey Naruto-kun! You're late, but that's okay, you were probably trying to pry that pink haired girl off you, right?” She asks, grinning as wide as me.

 

“No, but I had a talk with Kyu-kun, he said to say hi!” Standing up, I see Kenzaka opening a scroll and rubbing her bleeding thumb over it. As the smoke cleared, I saw her standing there with a new sword a little longer then Youkai (Phantom), but only a little thicker.

 

“Naruto-kun, this is Youkai Munashii's (Phantom Void's) brother, Shin'en (Abyss). Shin'en can only be wielded by me or the owner of Youkai Munashii.” She explained as she handed the sword in its sheath to me. Seeing as my new sword was too big for my waist, I strap it to my back. Then I realized something.

 

“Youkai's brother?”

 

Nodding her head, she speaks. “Yes, younger brother actually. I made it with the chakra used during the duels between us that lingered in the air. Its blade is black, and it seems to destroy the light around it, and absorbs the shadows. But enough of Shin'en, I want to teach you the Tenrai (Divine) Style!” She exclaims, a smirk promising pain for those who see it. Of course I felt my gut churn in excitement and fear.

 

For the next few hours, we trained and by the end, I was pleading the gates of hell to rise and take my soul.

 

“Oh come on Naruto-kun, it's not that hard is it?” She asks, towering over me, giving me the feeling of a mouse caught in a cat's trap.

 

“Uh, no?” I ask, pleading with my eyes that she would end training.

 

“Okay, you can go…but we still meet tomorrow.” She told me, before disappearing in a pillar of flames.

 

I sigh in relief as I sheath Youkai. Taking a breather, I notice Haku's chakra in the distance. Walking in his direction, I find him talking to a villager. Knowing her as one of the ones that think of me as a demon, I lay back until she leaves; which takes about thirty minutes. Jumping down to greet Haku, I also sense Zabuza coming this way.

 

“Hey Haku! What are you doing?”

 

Looking at me, he smiles. “Hey Naruto! Just talking to someone.”

 

“Hey! Naruto! I have a question!” Zabuza yells, getting Haku's attention.

 

“Yeah? What is it?”

 

Looking around, he looks at me before continuing. “Maybe at the Uchiha compound it would be safer to talk.”

 

Nodding my head, I grin. “Quick way or long way?”

 

Looking at me, Zabuza says. “Short, I guess…”

 

Grinning, I say. “Grab my shoulder and I'll do the rest!” Doing as I instructed, I flip through tree seals before whispering. “Kiton: Makai Kaki Terepo-to no Jutsu!” (Listen, these are ROUGH translation, meaning they may not be a hundred % correct, but they are close. Demon Release: Hell Fire Teleport Technique) As we are enveloped in fire of the most sinister depths of hell, I hear Haku gasp while Zabuza tightens his grip.

 

Landing in my room, I smirk before asking. “Like the trip?” Shaking their heads no, I laugh before sitting down on the bed and gesturing for the other two to follow example.

 

“Let me guess, you want to know about my Kekkei Genkai?” Nodding their heads, I continue. “Well, I know that it is the reason I was accepted into the Uchiha clan, and that I was able to beat Haku, but to divulge deeper, I'll need to silence the room.”

 

Creating a hand seal, I say. “Ninpou: Sono Nai Mugon no Jutsu.” (Ninja Arts: The Dead Silence Technique) Lying down on the bed, I start to explain. “Let's see, the Mantengan is a one of a kind Kekkei Genkai, with one tomoe, it can track Gennin, but slight problems with Chuunin, easily! It can see like the Byakugan in a wide spectrum, can see chakra and tenketsus. With two tomoe, it can track Chuunin with little difficulty, and I was barely able to see Haku with two. It can copy like the Sharingan. The last but no where near least, is the ability to copy Kekkei Genkai!”

 

“Naruto, how is it able to do this?” Zabuza asks, non-existent eyebrows rising.

 

“How do you think Kekkei Genkai came to be?” I ask, knowing they have no clue.

 

“Uh, they just evolved?” He asks.

 

“No! Then every clan would have a Kekkei Genkai. A couple centuries ago, three hundred men with the same amount of chakra as a single kage gathered. They used a Jutsu that altered their blood and gave them Kekkei Genkai. Unluckily, only a hand full survived while the others died of chakra depletion. The first to surface was the Byakugan, and after a couple generations, a single Hyuuga fell in love with another Dojutsu clan member, and there is were the Sharingan is born. Now, with me it was different, my Dojutsu was a complete surprise, it was never revealed until my birth. Now, there is a theory I came up with, one of the men who was at the ritual gained this Dojutsu, but was unaware of it; he saw and memorized the jutsu, which in turn is passed down through blood as a memory, imprinted into the Mantengan. The jutsu was called Kekkei Genkai Souseiki. (Bloodline Limit Genesis) Now, when ever I see a Kekkei Genkai, the Mantengan takes it upon itself to copy it.”

 

“Naruto, I know for a fact that you're strong, but you have no where near as much chakra as needed for Kekkei Genkai Souseiki; it takes more then kage level chakra.” Zabuza intervened.

 

“I know that Zabuza, but let me continue. As you both know, I'm not normal, I have the Kyuubi no Yoko sealed in me, but even that jutsu would drain him a little bit.” I sigh, thinking of how to explain what would come next. “I have another source of chakra, one much larger then Kyuubi's.”

 

“WHAT?!” Yells Zabuza, standing up.

 

“This chakra source is only larger then Kyuubi's because he and I constantly pump chakra into it unconsciously. When Mantengan is active and sights a Kekkei Genkai, it uses this jutsu and draws power form the third chakra source, creating the same Kekkei Genkai as the opponent's.”

 

“So that means…” Haku trailed off.

 

“Yup! I can pass these Kekkei Genkai on to the next generation!” I said, smiling like an idiot.

 

“Gaki, can you tell us more about the Mantengan?” Zabuza asks, wanting to learn more.

 

“Fine, fine…now where was I?…Oh, yeah! With three tomoe, I can break most Genjutsu, except a few, like Tsukuyomi (Italic means 100% sure it's right; Moon Reader.) and a few others. It has hypnosis at this stage like the Sharingan, I can counter most attacks with ease and I can track a Jonin! Now the final stage, four tomoe, I can actually see in 360-degree sight. I can track ANBU. I also have a stronger form of Kekkei Genkai Souseiki, called Koudo Kekkei Genkai Souseiki. (Advanced Bloodline Limit Genesis) Unlike its brother, it only takes an hour to form where as it takes a week to do so before. I can also identify a jutsu before it is used and calculate how much chakra it takes and how much is left.”

 

“So in other words, it's the best damn Kekkei Genkai out there.” Zabuza says, looking at the ceiling.

 

“Naruto, would you like me to teach you the Hyoton (Ice Release)?” Haku asks.

 

Eyes widening, I jump up on the bed before yelling. “Hell yeah!”

 

Chuckling, he stands up and leaves the room. “Are you coming?”

 

(Next morning)

 

“Two hundred!” I call out as I finish the last of my morning work out. “Now, Haku said to shape water into spikes until I can do it instantly.” I mutter to myself as I draw water from the molecules in the air, shaping a sphere and then into a spike. I keep on doing this until I have about fifty spikes floating in the air. Dispelling the spikes, I head for our bridge to apologize to Sakura and sign up for the Chuunin exams.

 

“Hey Sakura-chan!” I yell as I make my way to the bridge, Sakura leaning on the rail.

 

Glancing at me, she replies. “Oh, hey Naruto.”

 

`Wow, I must have struck deep with the insult…' I thought as I tried to strike up conversation “Sakura-chan, you okay?”

 

“It's no use Naruto. She hasn't even bothered me, so I think she's in a bad mood.” Says Sasuke for a change.

 

I was about to reply when Kakashi decides to appear. “Hey!” When nobody said anything about his tardiness, his visible eye narrowed. “Okay, where are my students and who are you?”

 

Looking up at him, I reply. “No, we're you're students. Although we're in bad moods.”

 

Rising his eyebrow, he jumps down before pulling out three slips of paper. “I've registered you all up for the Chuunin exams, all you need to do is sign these and go to the place indicated.” Handing us the slips, he continues. “You don't have to go though. I'll see you later.” Teleporting away, I turn to my teammates.

 

“Well, I'll be entering! I know Sasuke will, if only to test his strength, but what about you Sakura-chan?” I ask.

 

“I'm going to train, want to join Naruto?” Sasuke replies, glancing at me.

 

“Actually Sasuke-kun, I want to talk to him before he does.” Sakura interjects, grabbing my arm and dragging me along.

 

“So, what did you want to talk about?” I ask once we got far enough that she let go.

 

“Are you sure you don't like me at all?” She asks abruptly.

 

I Sigh. “No, Sakura-chan, I don't like you, sorry.” I say looking down.

 

“No, it's okay, I didn't think so…” She trailed off, giving me a false smile.

 

I was about to say something when Konohamaru, who I hadn't met this time around, came up. “Hey! You, cool dude! Can you play ninja with us?”

 

Glancing at Sakura, I respond. “Maybe, if Sakura-chan would like to play.” Nodding her head, I nod mine as well.

 

“Great! You guys are first it! Me, Moegi and Udon are the runners!” He yells before running off. Letting him get a little farther ahead, I jump to the trees and follow him while Sakura runs after him. Stopping, I see Konohamaru run into Kankuro and fall down. Seeing as I was repressing my half-demon abilities, I couldn't hear the argument between the two very well when Kankuro picked up Konohamaru. Although when Kankuro pulled his fist back, I activated Hyoton and slit his wrist before he could go any farther.

 

“What the hell,” Yelled Kankuro, grabbing his wrist.

 

“I suggest you don't threaten the grandson of the Sandaime, don't you think Gaara?” I ask as he appears on the tree on a branch upside down.

 

“You're a disgrace. What do you think we are her for?” He asks, emotionless as ever. “Let's get going.” He says as he disappears in a swirl of sand and reappears on the ground. Waling off, Temari and Kankuro shoot me a glare before following. Jumping down, I help Konohamaru up.

 

“You okay Konohamaru?” I ask, giving a smile.

 

“Yeah!” He answers, before asking. “What's your name?”

 

Standing up straight, I answer. “Uchiha Uzumaki Naruto.”

 

Sakura starts walking towards me, and I get nervous, thinking that she was going to go on a killing spree for me acting cool. “Naruto? How do you know them?” She asks, pointing in their direction.

 

“Oh! Well, the one with the gourd is Sabaku no Gaara, strangest Gennin form Sunagakure. The one with the fan is Sabaku no Temari, sister of Gaara. The last one who threatened Konohamaru is Sabaku no Kankuro, brother to Gaara. Both are older, but fear Gaara greatly. That, and all three of them are the siblings of the Yondaime Kazekage.” I explain, hoping she buys it.

 

“You didn't say how you met.” She says sternly. “And how do you know all of that?”

 

Sighing, I rub my temples before speaking. “Well, yesterday, I was running and I ran into Temari. We had a little talk and they told me their names.” I lied. “After I met them, I went to Oji-sama and asked who they were.” I lied again, shrugging.

 

Eyeing me suspiciously, she nods before walking off for no apparent reason.

 

“Nii-chan, could you still play ninja?” Asks Udon who was there when I saved Konohamaru.

 

“Okay!” I say before continuing. “But let me guess, I'm still ninja?” Nodding their heads, I chuckle.

 

That's when the rain-nin jumped down and took Moegi. “Konohamaru, follow as closely as you can.” I demand before giving chase to him. As I followed him, I realized it was Iruka in a Henge. Smirking, I create four shadow clones while slowing down for Iruka so he doesn't get suspicious. Separating, I make it to the clearing where Iruka has Moegi tied to a tree.

 

“Let her go!” I demand, drawing his attention from her and my clones.

 

“You, to save this girls life, you must quit the Chuunin exams!” He demands right back. Stepping closer, he holds the kunai tighter, holding it closer to her throat. “Don't you care what happens to this girl?”

 

I let a smirk cross my face before dignifying him with an answer. “Sorry Iruka-sensei, but, who are you talking about?” Looking at where Moegi used to be, he gasps.

 

“Okay, have her!” Yelled a clone from the tree above Iruka. Charging forwards, I use Kawarimi with the clone in the tree as they kick Iruka up yelling.

 

“Uz!”

“Zu!”

“Ma!”

“Ki!”

 

“Naruto Rendan (Naruto Combo)!” I yell, finishing it with a kick to the face.

 

A now unconscious Iruka slipped of his Henge, and Moegi, Konohamaru and Udon gasped.

 

“Don't worry, Iruka-sensei was doing this as a test for me, so he's not evil.” I reassured them. “I have to go now, so I'll see you guys later.” I say before I Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique) away and make to my apartment. Walking in, I discard my clothes and take a quick shower and letting the boiling water sooth my thoughts. Walking to my closet, I shoved all my clothes aside; I grab a case in the back. Opening it, I take out its contents, moving to the bedroom to change. First I place on the pants, a dark blue color, and the undershirt, a black muscle shirt. Next was the blue over shirt, which complemented my pants quite well. Looking at myself in the mirror, I see that my shirts show off my young and well-developed torso for a twelve-year-old. I slipped on my black ninja sandals, while grabbing the last piece of clothing. Slipping it on, I look in the mirror to see the white clock reaching my ankles and light blue flames stretching from the bottom. Taking my headband, I tie it around my forehead and looking into the mirror one last time before I leave, I see what looks like a miniature version the Yondaime. Smiling, I leave the house and head for the Chuunin exams.

 

As I come into view of the academy, I see Sasuke waiting there. “Hey Sasuke.” I greet once in hearing distance. Looking around, I see the other students gaping at me. Smiling, I see Rock Lee, Neji and Tenten enter the building.

 

“Hey! Gaki!” I hear Zabuza grunt form behind me.

 

“Yeah Zabuza?” I ask turning around to face him.

 

“Where'd you get the new sword?”

 

Glancing at my shoulder, I answer. “You mean Shin'en? My Kenjutsu teacher gave him to me.” Looking around, I don't see Haku. “Where's Haku? Doesn't he have to pass the test to become a Chuunin?”

 

Nodding his head, Zabuza says. “Yeah, he has to meet his team which had a member recently killed.”

 

Nodding my head, I turn back to the other students. After standing there for a couple of minutes, Sakura appears.

 

“Hey Sakura-chan!” I call out.

 

“Hey Naruto…” She responds quietly.

 

“Hey guys!” Yells Haku as he makes his towards us with a Gennin team.

 

“Those guys your new team? Looks pretty weak if you ask me.” I state calmly while receiving a glare from them both.

 

“Well, to you maybe, but then again you have over Chuunin level chakra.” He defends them.

 

“Well, now that we're all here, lets go inside!” I exclaim before heading in.

 

“We're doing you a favor by not letting you pass.” Says an Exam instructor in disguise on to Gai's team.

 

“Let us pass.” Sasuke demands as if he owns the place.

 

“Why should we let you pass?” Asks the guard.

 

Sasuke was about to say something before I interrupted. “Just let us pass. We can obviously tell this is the second floor and you two are just here to keep us from passing to the first part of the exam.”

 

I could tell the one with weapons on his back was mad, he radiated anger off of him. Going for a kick, I just duck and sweep his leg before Lee could get there. After he was on his back I drew Youkai Munashii and pressed him against his neck.

 

“Don't think just because you can fool them in this Henge, that I'm as weak as them. The man over there that looks like a woman could kill you easily; Momochi Zabuza trained him. I am an Uchiha who directly trains under Itachi-nii, so I'm no pushover either.” I whisper into his ear as his eyes go wide. Standing up, I sheath Youkai and walk past the other guard. Sasuke looked a little ticked that I was the one who did that, but followed, Sakura close behind.

 

As we walked up the stairs and made it to the opening like area, I sensed Rock Lee.

 

“I would like to challenge the Uchiha!” He declared, alerting Sasuke and Sakura to his presence while I just stopped.

 

“Which one?” I ask, confusing him. Gesturing to Sasuke, I continue. “That's Uchiha Sasuke, blood Uchiha.” Turning around, I continue once more. “I'm Uchiha Uzumaki Naruto, adopted member.”

Looking me over, he states. “Then that means you have a Kekkei Genkai.”

 

Dropping into the Kitsune Kata (Fox Style) I call back. “While I do have a Kekkei Genkai, I do not use it unless need be.”

 

Dropping into his own stance smiling, he asks. “Is that so?”

 

Nodding, I charge and roundhouse towards his face, but he ducks and tries for a kick to my gut. Seeing this attempt, I place my hand on the floor and spin on it, dodging the kick and going for my own. Back flipping, he goes for a punch, which I catch and twist his arm, twirling him and sending him flying to the wall.

 

“What's your name?” I ask, standing up right.

 

Crawling out of the hole, he smiles before saying. “My name is Rock Lee!”

 

Holding out my hand, I smile. “Hello Lee!” Grabbing my hand, I help him up.

 

“Such a wonderful youth!” Yells a man appearing on the other side of the room wearing the same thing as Lee accept he was taller and all around more bushier eyebrows.

 

“Gai-sensei!”

 

“Lee!”

 

“Gai-sensei!” They yell before hugging each other and causing the background to become and ocean scene, nearly blinding me in the process.

 

“Okay, could you stop hugging?” I ask. Seeing as they didn't stop, I just continued to the first exam, Sakura gaping at me while Sasuke glared.

 

“Naruto, where'd you learn to fight, when ever we were in the academy, you never showed any skill?” Asks Sakura.

 

“Did you ever suppose showing your true strength to those around was not the best idea?” I ask, glancing over my shoulder. Shaking her head, we keep walking until we meet Kakashi.

 

“Hey sensei!” I say, smiling.

 

(Okay, I forgot this part so I'm going to skip to where they meet Kabuto)

 

“Hello! You must be new at these exams!” Says Kabuto, who reeks of snakes.

 

“What? You a veteran?” I ask.

 

“Actually, yes! This is my seventh time!” He says, rubbing his neck.

 

After giving a quick explanation of the exams, he shows us the ninja cards he has.

 

“So, who do you want to know about?” He asks, holding his deck up.

 

“Sabaku no Gaara, Uchiha Uzumaki Naruto, Haku, Uchiha Sasuke, and Hyuuga Neji.” Says one of Haku's teammates.

 

“First, Sabaku no Gaara.” He says while pulling out a card. “Two A-rank missions, five B-rank missions, eleven C-rank missions and twenty D-rank missions. Has the power to control sand and…get this, he comes back from each mission unscratched!” At this, everyone but me gasped.

 

“Next, Uchiha Uzumaki Naruto.” He says while pulling out a card again. “Two A-rank mission and twenty-three D-rank missions. He has one sword known as Youkai Munashii. Adopted by the Uchiha for possessing a Kekkei Genkai. Trained by Uchiha Itachi and Hyuuga Hiashi. Has a massive amount of chakra and has been able to defect a member of The Kiri no Shinobigatana Nananin Shu, (Seven Shinobi Swordsmen of the Mist) Kirigakure no Kijin.” (Demon of the Hidden Mist) I felt the stares drilling into my back, and even Kabuto looked at me.

 

“Haku.” He continues, pulling out another card. “No missions, but an ex-S-rank missing nin. He also has a Kekkei Genkai. That's all.” They all shot Haku a glance before looking back at Kabuto.

 

“Uchiha Sasuke.” He says. “One A-rank mission and twenty-three D-rank missions. Second Uchiha prodigy. Older brother is Uchiha Itachi. That's all there really is.” The teammates of Haku just looked at him before looking at Kabuto.

 

“Hyuuga Neji.” He says, looking at the card before him. “Two B-rank missions, seven C-rank missions and thirty D-rank missions. Hyuuga prodigy, has the most developed Byakugan for his age.”

 

(Skipping right to The Forest of Death)

 

“Okay, this is the forest of death, this is the second part of the exam!” yelled Anko, taking pleasure in the audible gulps from some Gennin.

 

“Doesn't look scary to me. In fact, looks kind of boring.” I say with a yawn. Drawing a kunai, she throws it at high speeds at me; I just put my hand up and let it impale itself in my hand. All the Gennin just stare while I take it out with out so much as a whimper. Throwing it back at her, it cuts her cheek.

 

Getting over the shock, Anko ignores me and gets back to work. “Okay, these are your standard release forms! Since we don't want a war breaking out, you have to sign these! After these are signed, turn them in over there and get your scroll! You can get either a heaven scroll or a earth scroll!” She yells before passing out the forms.

 

(Start of the second exam)

 

As we ran through the forest, remember that Orochimaru will be coming.

 

`Shit! I can't beat Orochimaru!'

 

“Sorry Kit, but I can't give you chakra without the possibility of the malice chakra breaking out.”

 

`It's okay Kyu-kun' I think, before a large gust of wind flings my team and me away.

 

Running through seals, I end on ki (demon). “Kiton: Makai Kaki Terepo-to no Jutsu!” Appearing next to Sakura, I grab her and reach for Sasuke, grabbing his pants. As the winds die down, I sense Orochimaru coming. Standing up, I face the direction were he is coming.

 

“Come out you Orochi-teme (bastard)!” I yell.

 

Appearing out of the darkness, he chuckles. “So, how do know about the me?”

 

“You reek of snake!” I spit. Flipping through hand seals, I yell. “Kiton: Makai Dangan no Jutsu!” (Demon Release: Hell Bullet Technique) Placing my hands in front of me, black fire starts to form in between my hands before I throw it at him. Eyes widening, he ducks under it before charging me. Barely able to track him, I activate The Mantengan.

 

“You won't take Sasuke!” I yell as I kick him in the face.

 

Stumbling back, he says. “Actually, I think I want your eyes instead. So much stronger, I can already tell.”

 

Getting into The Ookami Kata (Wolf Style). “Fine! You won't get my eyes either!” Of course he drops into The Sune-ku Kata (Snake Style). Charging each other, we enter a battle of Kata, which he unfortunately is winning. As we battle, he gets a blow to the stomach, sending me flying. Getting up, I grab my stomach, coughing up blood. Looking up again, I charge again, changing to The Doragon Kata (Dragon Style). Aiming a kick at his side, I switch to a punch, catching him off guard and using the momentum to back him stumble backwards again.

 

“Naruto-kun, you have much skill. To be able to damage a Sannin, incredible!” Glee evident in his voice.

 

“Katon: Nenshou no Jutsu!” (Fire Release: Combustion Technique) This caused a trail of flame to sweep in front of me in a wide area, pushing Orochimaru away. Finishing another set of seals, I yell. “Katon: Hosenka no Jutsu!” (Fire Release: Phoenix Immortal Fire Technique) A few of the fireballs hit, but most missed. Although that's what I was counting on, he was now caught in Sofushasan no Tachi. (Manipulating Windmill Triple Blades) Going through the correct seals, I say through clenched teeth. “Katon: Ryuka no Jutsu.” (Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique)

 

Orochimaru, damaged, rips off his fake face, which is sickening to watch. Knowing I need to keep going, I go through more hand seals. “Raiton: Ikazuchi Soturaiku no Jutsu!” (Lightning Release: Thunder Strike Technique) With this, I bolt of lightning launches towards Orochimaru through my body, slightly grazing him.

 

`Fuck! My body is starting to tire!'

 

“Kit! If you go back to Mantengan, you stand a better chance!”

 

Closing my eyes, I open them to reveal the Mantengan again. Going into the Kitsune Tsurugi Kata, (Fox Sword Style) while drawing Shin'en, I charge. Quickly recognizing this as a problem, he summons Kusanagi no Tsurugi: Ku no Tachi. (Kusanagi Sword: Long Sword of the Heavens) Blocking the first blow, I go on the offensive, drawing him away form my friends.

 

“Naruto-kun, to say that you surprise me is an understatement! It will be a glorious day when your body is mine!” Switching form defensive to offensive, he gets me in the ribs.

 

`Kuso! If I don't do something, he'll give me or Sasuke the curse mark!'

 

That's when I hear ruffling from behind me, turning my head around, I see Sasuke standing there.

 

“Sasuke! Get out of here!” Turning my attention back to Orochimaru, I see him rushing towards Sasuke. As he's running, he seems to slow down, and I block his blow to Sasuke.

 

“Kit! You just got the third tomoe, in each eye!” Kyuubi explains.

 

Now, Orochimaru and I are moving at speeds, that I bet, make us look like blurs to people without trained eyes.

 

“Sorry Naruto-kun, but I have to finish this.” He says as he kicks me in the gut, making me double over and then receive a swift kick to the face. Flying into a tree, I get up and see Orochimaru flipping through hand seals and facing Sasuke.

 

`What the hell?!'

 

As if reading my mind, Orochimaru says. “I'm taking Sasuke instead because you seem to be pure, where as Sasuke will do almost anything to become clan head.”

 

“Fuck!” I swear as Orochimaru's neck extends, going for Sasuke. “Kawarimi no Jutsu!” I whisper just as Orochimaru is about to bite him, replacing my self with Sasuke and taking the bite.

 

Surprised but pleased, he says. “Naruto-kun, you will do anything to protect your friends, protect them with power. I think beneath that shell you call a mask, is a ploy to hide and block the hatred you have for this village, you are darker then anyone knows.” He says before he sinks into the tree and I fall unconscious.

 

(Naruto's subconscious)

 

“Kyu-kun? Are you there?” I yell into my mind.

 

“Kyuubi is not here right now. It's just you and me.” Calls out a dark voice.

 

“Who are you?!” I ask while drawing Youkai Munashii.

 

“What Orochimaru said wasn't false. I have been stuck in here with no route of escape for thirty years, since you were three. Now, Orochimaru has given me the power to show myself, through that seal of his. I should thank him.” He chuckles; sending a shiver down my spine, fear I haven't felt for years building in my chest. “Now, slowly, I will fuse with you, bringing my hatred of the village with me! You will despise those you once claimed to love! Kill them! And all because you were too weak to stop Orochimaru!”

 

“I'd never kill them! I'd die before I let that happen!” I yell at the top of my lungs, fear pushing me to defend my beliefs.

 

“Soon, we will beone, and whatyou deny will become a reality. Your love will become hatred, and hatred will become power, and when you have power, you'll destroy this village! Enjoy the rest of the time you have left, for soon this hatred will consume you!” The voice yells before sending me to Kyuubi's cage.

 

“Kit?! What Happened? I couldn't contact you!” Kyuubi asks, panic and worry in his voice. I just broke down, right there, in front of the strongest living demon of the Tailed Demons. I sob for what seemed hours, and Kyuubi looked at me with worried eyes.

The sick feeling in my chest grew when I saw this, because I'd soon hate him, and all my friends.

 

“Kit, what happened?”

 

“I'm so-sorry, I-I'm s-so so-rry! I can-can't st-stop it!” I cry in between my sobs. Knowing he wouldn't get anywhere with me, he just sits down and watches me wither.

 

That's when I feel the tug that comes with exiting my mind, and I'm flung into the real world, purple chakra visible around me. Sitting up, I see Shikamaru, Ino and Chouji in plain sight. Looking around, I see a worn out Sasuke, Sakura and Lee, standing in front of a few oto-nin I recognized instantly.

 

Standing up, I walk past Sakura and them and say. “Back off, they're mine.” I say to them, gesturing to the oto-nin standing before us. Moving at speed that rivals Kakashi's, I punch Kin in the stomach, causing her to crumble to the floor. From there, I grab Dosu's neck and swing him to the closest tree, making it crack from the force.

 

“Zankukyukuha!” (Extreme Decapitating Air Waves) I hear Zaku yell. Using the Shunshin, I quickly dodge the attack. “Looks like I completely blow him to bits.” He says while smirking.

 

Grabbing his wrist, I pull them back, placing my foot on his back. “You seem rather fond of these arms, mind if I borrow them?” I ask as I start pulling on them, actually hearing his muscles snap and his arm break. Just as I was about to really rip off his arms, I feel someone else's wrap themselves around my stomach.

 

“Naruto, please, stop this.” Sobs Sakura on my back. As if I just get back from an out of body experience, I realize that I could have killed him! And I would have liked it! Dropping his wrists, I slump to the ground, about to break because of what I did. I could feel the curse mark receding, and I felt sick inside, letting it take control so easily. Turning around in her arms, I hug her back, crushing her small form into my larger one.

 

“I'm so sorry Sakura! I don't know what came over me! I-I just attacked! I was about to kill him, and I felt good! How could I feel good?!” I whisper into her ear as she says comforting things into mine. While I was sitting there with Sakura, Lee left while Sasuke gathered the oto-nin, tying them up. Ino, Chouji and Shikamaru left, realizing they were no longer needed.

 

After an hour of sitting there and Sakura trying to calm me down, I fall asleep.

 

 

As consciousness comes back to me, I feel something warm on my back as I realized I was on my side. I wanted to snuggle closer to the heat, but stopped as I felt it snuggle closer to me. Turning around to see the heat source, I set my eyes upon the shorthaired Sakura, hugging me, smiling. Blushing at the contact, I just waited for her to wake up, which wasn't too long.

 

“Naruto…kun…” She says drowsily, looking at me, before bulging and scooting away from me. “Gomen, (Sorry) Naruto!” She practically yells with a blush adorning her features.

 

“It's okay Sakura-chan. Where's Sasuke?” I ask, sitting up.

 

“Um, he said something about getting the other scroll, the earth one.” She said while putting her head up in a cute manner. It was then that Sasuke appeared with ragged breaths.

 

“You okay?” I ask, noticing all the cuts.

 

“Yeah, just got this from a team of Gennin that didn't know how to fight Taijutsu with shit!” He exclaims with a smile.

 

“Guess we should head to the tower?” I ask while standing up, brushing off the dirt.

 

Nodding their heads, we set off for the tower, breaking any Genjutsu we fall in and disposing of the teams. After a couple of hours of running, we get to the tower. Entering, we open the scrolls and Iruka appears. After telling us that we passed the second exam, he says that we have two days to rest before the preliminaries.

 

“Well, guess I'll go to sleep.” I say, walking into the bedroom.
