AN: The ACTION… XD please don’t stop reading if this chapter is kind of sucky. As I said in the last chapter it’s been like forever since I’ve written a fighting scene. So just leave me reviews if you have any tips for me about fighting scenes. But if the fight scene is any good let me know cause that would be a big relief. Alrighty, on with the story. :)
Chapter 4
Sokuru vs. Sayomi: Maybe This Isn’t a Good Idea
“Sasuke-san, I don’t this is a good idea,” I said looking at the ground.
Is he out of his mind? Fight… Sokuru? Is Sasuke out of his fucking mind? How could I fight him, when he’s… when he’s… when he’s smiling like that!
I looked up at Sokuru as he stood across the field of Training Ground 17. He was just standing there smiling. How could I fight someone so nice? I’ve never thought of hurting Sokuru, Never. He’s a good person and has been nice to me since I’ve got here. I glanced over at Sasuke who was standing on the other side of the field.
“Come on, Sayomi, you know how to fight don’t you,” Sasuke said looking back at me.
“Of course, I do it’s just… I can’t fight Sokuru,” I told him looking back down at my feet.
“Why not, come on Omi, I know you can fight, I’ll go easy on you if that’s the problem,” Sokuru said smiling.
That definitely wasn’t the reason, I thought a little insulted.
“Sayomi, it’s just a simple spar, you have to do this from time to time even if you don’t want to, it helps improve you skills,” Sasuke said as I looked back at him.
“But,” I started but Sasuke cut me off before I could say anything.
“You can always fight me of course if that’s what you prefer,” Sasuke said with a spark.
My throat went dry. I could never fight Sasuke ever. I swallowed and shook my head no. I looked up at Sokuru. I still couldn’t do it.
“You want to become a shinobi don’t you?” Sasuke asked me.
I nodded my head.
“If you don’t fight Sokuru right now, then I can guarantee you’ll never become one,” Sasuke stated.
Never… become a shinobi… I don’t want that. I have to become a shinobi to protect the children. I guess I have no choice but to… My thought process was interrupted when I could sense a fist coming straight towards my face. I immediately put my arms up to shield my face. His hit was hard but not that hard. However due to my high pain level I could tolerate more, so his punch could be categorized as about a seven on the power level scale, five on speed. From the punch I could tell he was more of a direct approach and more power than speed. I however was quite opposite I relied on my speed because I mastered in taijutsu.
I pulled chakra towards my forearms and released it as I pushed out. I successfully Sokuru off balance and he had to jump back a few meters. He was holding his right arm with his other hand. I could see four scratches trailing down the front of his arm from his elbow to his wrist. They weren’t deep but they were enough to draw blood.
I froze. I couldn’t believe I drew Sokuru’s blood. Sokuru was about to say something but I cut him off.
“Gomen nasai, Sokuru-san, I’ll get you some Band-Aids immediately,” I said walking over to Sasuke, where our bags were.
I dug through my bag to look for my first-aid kit that Ms. Shirome had gotten me two weeks ago when Sasuke first started to train me. We didn’t spar, it was just chakra control training. But then I believe Sasuke must have hit his head or I’d done something bad when he told me that he wanted me to spar with Sokuru. The first day I got out of it because I promptly fainted after he told me it wasn’t a joke. The next day I feigned illness when he tried to get me to do it again. I felt badly lying to Sasuke, but I would’ve felt worse if I did fight Sokuru and harm him in any way. Luckily, Ms. Shirome helped me get out of the third day when I pleaded with her. I didn’t want to burden her but I couldn’t help it. She told Sasuke that she needed me to help her with some errands. Then I got two more free days when Sasuke had to go on a mission. The day after that Sokuru, luckily had a mission, so I got another day.
My good fortunes ended on the seventh day when Sasuke and Sokuru had gotten out of missions for the day. Shirome was gone by the time I woke up. I didn’t have any excuses today, so here I was.
“Here it is,” I shouted as I finally found my blue first-aid kit with puppy paw prints all over it.
I stood, dusting off my shorts. I was wearing the outfit I had seen in the store a few weeks ago. Sokuru had been nice enough to still buy it for me. I turned around to find Sokuru smiling at me while rubbing the back of his head. Sasuke had his arms folded across his chest and a disappointed look on his face. I lowered my head, not really sure what I had done but I was sure I did something wrong.
“Wolfy,” Sasuke stated simply and my ear twitched at the firmness in his voice, “what exactly do you think you’re doing?”
“Getting my first-aid kit for Sokuru-san’s wound,” I stated glancing up at him from beneath my bangs.
Sasuke let out a sigh as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. “And why are you doing that when you were in the middle of a spar?”
“Because I made him bleed,” I said, but not entirely sure of myself.
Sasuke at that point closed his eyes. I looked over at Sokuru.
“Omi, it’s not a big deal, we’re bound to get a few bruises and cuts when we’re training, rather the other person is your enemy or not. It happens it comes with the territory of being a shinobi,” Sokuru informed, “its ok to hurt me a little. Besides you don’t have to take it easy on me, I’m a genin, I’m able to take a hit. It’s kind of hurtful that you have so little faith in my defenses and skills as a shinobi.”
I felt my cheeks heat up at that. I didn’t want Sokuru to think I thought he was weak. I just didn’t want to take a chance in hurting him. But Sokuru is right, getting hurt comes with the territory of the shinobi. I can’t protect Sokuru from getting hurt from everything. So I can help him become stronger, so I don’t have to worry about him as much.
“Gomen nasai, Sokuru-san, I wasn’t trying to doubt you. I was just having difficulty understanding fighting someone within my own pack,” I told him.
“Your pack?” Sokuru questioned me.
“Hai, you’re part of my pack now just like Sasuke-san and Ms. Shirome,” I replied to him.
Sokuru glanced over at Sasuke. Sasuke looked back at Sokuru and smiled.
“It’s similar to family,” Sasuke clarified.
Sokuru looked back at me. I bit my lip and shuffled my feet feeling myself become nervous.
“I mean if you want to be part of my pack,” I said softly.
He smiled at me. “Of course.”
I looked up at him and gave him a small smile back. It was something that I was doing more often, that I never used to do before. It was becoming easier to do.
“Hey what about, Riku?” Sokuru asked me.
“I don’t think he likes me very much,” I mumbled softly.
“Actually I think that’s quite the opposite,” I heard Sasuke say.
Sokuru and I both looked at Sasuke at the same time.
“What do you mean?” I asked him puzzled.
“Nothing, why don’t you two get back to training, I have to go meet someone,” Sasuke said as he turned around.
I felt a little sad knowing Sasuke was leaving.
“Alright, later,” Sokuru replied as Sasuke vanished into the trees, surrounding the area.
I looked back at Sokuru. He looked at me and his expression became serious. I was a little scared at first to be honest.
“You’re going to fight me and not take it easy on me right,” Sokuru questioned.
I hesitated for a second and then nodded me head, still a little unsure. Sokuru smiled and then stepped back on his right foot and put his fists up into a fighting stance. It was similar to the one Sasuke used. The next thing surprised me. Sokuru’s eyes turned red and he had three black tomoes in a circle in the middle. I’ve never seen anything like it before.
“Just in case you’re wondering, this is the Sharigan, I’m not going to take it easy on you either,” he stated.
I took one step back on my right foot and put my hands up in front of me. Palms out, fingers pointed to the sky, elbows bent at a thirty degree angle. It was the stance Tadashi had taught me. It was just the basics of the Ookami Sutairu no Jutsu (Wolf-Style Technique), the Ookamiyashi (Wolf Palm), but it was pretty efficient in delivering swift attacks and blocking as well.
Sokuru charged at me, bringing his left fist back as he did. I prepared myself. When he became within a meter of me, I quickly crouched and swung out my right leg in a quick 360 degree low roundhouse kick. He jumped up and swung his fist down towards me. I brought my left leg up and kicked his side, knocking him off balance and to the side. He quickly recovered and was coming at me again. I stood up almost completely and waited for him to get closer. He struck me with his right and I knocked it out the way with my right palm. I used just enough pressure not to do serious harm but enough to get his fist away. He struck at me with his left and I grabbed his wrist bringing to the outside and using the palm of my right hand to strike his chest. I let go as he jumped back holding on to the front of his shirt. He was panting lightly. I was starting to get worried that I might have hurt him but quickly changed my mind.
I couldn’t doubt his abilities.
I took my stance once again as he charged at me once more. I kept track of his entire body language, trying to make accurate guesses on his next move. He was a few feet away when he poofed into smoke and a log dropped. I quickly looked to my left and right to try and find where he was. He had used the substitution jutsu. My eyes were going to help me at the moment so I had to rely on my other senses. I used my ears and my nose to find where he was. Behind me. I quickly turned just in time to see him aiming a fist straight towards me. I used my palm and pushed his fist away by the wrist. His other hand came down towards me and I used a side kick to get him in the ribs. When I made contact, he poofed into smoke once more. This time it was a clone. I got into my stance once more as my eyes looked from left to right. My ears flickered here and there trying to catch any movement of his. I sniffed the air to try and find him that way but still nothing. I waited a few more seconds before I finally caught movement from my right.
Sokuru launched himself out of a set of bushes with a kunai in hand. I grabbed his wrist and quickly pulled out my own kunai as he broke free. I jumped back a few yards for room. He quickly came at me and struck with the kunai and I blocked it. The noise it made rang through the area as the kunai clanged together. He backed up and struck me again. I blocked. This happened repeatedly. He would strike with the kunai this way and that and I would block. You could hear the repeated clang as our kunai clashed.
It took about five minutes before I guess Sokuru found it useless. We stared each other down waiting for someone to make the first move. I decided to take the initiative. I ran at Sokuru full speed. He gotten into a defensive stance immediately. I jumped up to the height of his head and performed a flying roundhouse kick towards him. He blocked it with his arms but he still skidded a few feet. I didn’t stop and went at him again. I threw the kunai at him and he jumped back to dodge. I followed him and brought down a series of punches. He dodged them all at first but I got one in and he flew back into a tree.
If we were having a taijutsu battle I was sure I was going to win.
I went towards him again and he disappeared into a poof of smoke. A log dropped where he previously stood. I once again used my senses to track him down. His presence became known when I heard his voice.
“Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!”
I turned around in the nick of time to see a giant fireball coming towards me. I quickly jumped to the left and landed on the ground. I rolled back over to my feet and tried to stand. My progress was slow, because I had gotten nicked on my right shoulder by the the flames. It wasn’t bad but still enough to leave a small burn mark.
“You can’t be really powerful if you can only use taijutsu,” Sokuru said with a smirk.
I bit my lip. I didn’t know any jutsus outside of taijutsu. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I ran at Sokuru once again. He performed hand signs, snake, dragon, rabbit, and tiger. He lifted his hand up to towards me as he spoke.
“Lightning Style: Black Panther!”
I quickly halted my attack and skidded a little. Then a giant black beast emerged from Sokuru and it was made of lightning. It took the form of a panther just as Sokuru called it. I thought I could hear it roar but I guess that was the lightning. I didn’t have time to move, so I had to brace myself. I shielded my face as I closed my eyes and prepared for impact.
I didn’t believe I could feel such a blinding pain before, but I did. I was forced onto my back and slid a good distance before I stopped. My arms stung more than anything. My heartbeat picked up rapidly. I could feel the jolts of electricity still in my system even though the Black Panther was gone. I opened my eyes as the pain started to subside. My fingers still gave off involuntary twitches and sparks emitted from my arms. My heart was pounding so hard, I thought it would burst. I sat up slowly with my hand over my chest. My breathing had increased as well. I was in awe at the attack. I had no idea Sokuru would even know of something so powerful.
I really wished Tadashi would train me in the Ookamigan already or teach me some jutsus. I shakily but steadily got to my feet. Even though that attack was powerful I wasn’t going to give up so easily. I looked up at Sokuru and he just stood over there with a soft smile on his face.
“Didn’t think I could do something like that did you?” Sokuru asked smiling.
I frowned a little but straightened my face up.
“Did Sasuke-san teach you that,” I asked.
“Hai, it’s not as strong as his but it still packs a good punch, don’t you think,” he stated, “however I’m still surprised you could still stand after that.”
I nodded my head in agreement. I didn’t think I could stand after that either.
“So are you done are do you still want to continue?” Sokuru asked.
I knew I didn’t have a chance but I wasn’t going to give up. I slowly got back into my stance. Sokuru understood because he got into a stance as well.
Sokuru had an advantage since he knew more jutsus than I did, but I was faster and stronger physically. I just had to stay close to him and make sure I got out of the way before he could pull another jutsu or I’m finished. I ran at Sokuru and he came at me. I pulled a kunai from my pouch and I threw it quickly. He dodged by jumping to the right and then back at me. He threw a punch and I dodged it by leaping up. I grabbed onto his shoulders and twisted my body around. Then I delivered a front kick to the back of his spine before jumping back. He was knocked into the ground a skidded a few feet. I put my hand over my heart and could still hear it pounding in my ears. I could even feel my heart pulsating. Before I could pull myself together Sokuru through a punch and it hit me square on the right cheek. He made to get another punch in but I was able to block it, successfully. I performed a spin kick and he jumped back to avoid it. He ran at me again with his fist forward. I dodged a punch and a high kick before I flipped back onto my hands and spread my legs apart. I performed a windmill kick and it got him a few times before he was knocked back. I stopped and put my feet down so I was now in a crouching position. I launched at him as he recovered with claws out. I palmed downward and it caught the front of his shirt as he dodged. It ripped it and some blood was produced. He took one step back and started to perform hand signs. I jumped back out of reach just as he performed another fireball. I rolled to the left and landed on my knee and my leg out to the side. I placed a hand down to the ground to gain balance and launched myself at him as the fireball came to an end. I was able to knock him off balance but not before he had somehow got a wire attached to my wrist. I tried to yank it off and cut it with my claws but it was no use. It was chakra reinforced. I looked up as he performed more hand seals.
“Fire Style: Fire Dragon Jutsu.”
A giant flame in the shape of a dragon began to travel up the wire. I had to get loose fast.
I pulled a kunai from my pouch and poured some chakra into it, I successfully cut the wire. But not in time. I was still burned up my arm but I managed to get the rest of my out of harm’s way. Sokuru launched several shuriken at me and avoided them all. I began to run holding my harm as Sokuru ran with me. I didn’t want to give in but I knew my body was reaching its limits. Sokuru jumped to his left cutting off my path. He launched a kunai at me and I wasn’t able to avoid it. It launched into my already injured arm’s shoulder. Blood squirted from the wound. My right closed tight in pain and I kept my other one open so I wouldn’t be completely off guard. I ripped the kunai out my shoulder and more blood came with it. I dropped the kunai to the ground and began to take deep breaths. The pain was nearly unbearable but I had to pull through. I could do this.
“I’ve think you’ve had enough, Omi,” Sokuru said looking at my shoulder.
“Please--, don’t under-underestimate m-e, Sokuru-Sokuru-san,” I said through deep breaths.
He had an unsure expression on his face, but he nodded his head. I took a few more deep breaths and took up the Ookamiyashi stance once more. He took up his stance again as well. I made the first move this time. As I ran towards him I put claws into my wound and gathered blood on to them. It hurt but I had to bear with it. I removed my hand and forced chakra into my claws to make them stronger.
“Chi no tsume,” I said as I launched at Sokuru with my bloody claw.
He was able to dodge the first slash but I got him when my hand came back up. It made the marks from before rip wider and gush more blood. Some of it flung on to my face as he was knocked back to the ground. He laid still and I watched him as he lay still. My vision started to waver due to so much blood loss but I had to stay awake to see who won. It seemed like an eternity but eventually then winner was decided.
I collapsed onto the ground as Sokuru shakily stood. Sokuru won. I couldn’t move anymore. My vision began to black out as he completely stood up now. I could see his lips move as he spoke but I couldn’t make out the words as my vision became black as I fainted.
“Sayomi,” I heard someone speak softly into my ear.
I groaned a little. They were shaking my shoulder lightly but it was still annoying.
“Hey, Sayomi, it’s time to eat, you got to get up,” the voice must have been Sokuru because he’s the only one I know who call Sasuke dad.
I really wanted to sleep a little longer but I knew had to get up if I didn’t want to upset anyone. I rolled over on my back to face ‘Sokuru’.
It felt like my face was on fire. His face was a lot closer than I thought and it wasn’t Sokuru. It was Riku.
His face became extremely red. I assumed mine was the same. Our faces were inches apart from where he stood above me. I couldn’t move and my heart started beating rapidly. I could hear it in my head. I couldn’t speak and I just stared into Riku’s dark green eyes. I hoped he would move or something, I felt so weird with him being so close.
“Mo-mom said we-we’re going out to e-eat,” Riku stammered.
“H-hai,” I replied looking up at him.
I could hear footsteps coming towards us quickly. My door slid open and from the corner of my eye I could see Sokuru.
“Uh, am I interrupting something?” Sokuru asked.
“No,” Riku shouted, getting up from off of me.
He walked pass Sokuru and out of the room, with his face still red. I sat up slowly, touching my face. I had no idea why I felt so… off with Riku so close.
“You ok,” Sokuru asked me.
I nodded my head and removed the covers from my body. I looked over at Sokuru and examined him closely. He didn’t to look hurt from our earlier spar. He had a ban-aid across his cheek, which was the only real noticeable mark.
“Are you ok?” I asked him as I stood.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Sokuru replied, “how about you?”
I nodded my head.
“You’re really strong and fast, Omi,” Sokuru remarked.
“Arigatou,” I said shuffling my feet.
I’ve never been complimented before. I had a weird feeling in my stomach and I felt my lips tug apart. Sokuru smiled.
“You look prettier when you smile,” Sokuru stated, “well get dressed in a nice kimono and we’ll meet you out front.”
Sokuru left the room and closed the door. I was however still staring at the door. Pretty? I never in my life had ever been called pretty. I was beyond shock that Sokuru could even say that about me. Well Sokuru is a nice person, so I shouldn’t be too surprised he could say something so nice about someone like me.
I walked over to the closet and opened it up. I looked through the different kimonos that Ms. Shirome had bought me. I felt so obligated to give her something in return but she always stated she didn’t mind because she liked shopping for me.
I’ve never known there were nice people in this world that could accept me. Sasuke gave me a chance at a new life and Sokuru gave me what I believe could be friendship. Ms. Shirome gave me what seemed to be what I guess was a mother-like figure.
Riku… hasn’t been the nicest person to me, but he’s not mean to me either. I guess that’s nice in its own way.
I still wouldn’t trade the Uchiha family for anything in this world. They’re the first people that have ever accepted me.
I finally decided on a plain red yukata to go underneath a more formal kimono. I didn’t want to embarrass them so I picked out a really nice one that Ms. Shirome had gotten me. It was a black with red designs. There were flowers, birds, and other objects engraved into the fabric. It was outlined in gold and had a gold obi to go around it. I put the kimono as well some flat sandals. I looked in the full body mirror to see if I had done it correctly. I thought I looked ok. I grabbed a piece of my hair and looked at it. The brightness of my hair stood out greatly against my darker kimono. I didn’t know what to do with it like usual, so I just pulled it all up into ponytail with just my bangs out.
I walked left the room and then the house.
The men were all dressed in casual but nice attire. Ms. Shirome however was wearing a beautiful dark orange kimono with red and green designs. Some of her hair was pinned up and the rest trailed down her back. I felt so inferior compared to Ms. Shirome’s beauty. They all turned to look at me and it made me feel worse.
“That looks gorgeous on you,” Ms. Shirome remarked.
I looked at my feet as my cheeks started to heat up. “Arigatou.”
I could hear footsteps coming towards me and then someone touched my chin. I could tell by the feel of their hands and the citrus scent it was Sasuke. I looked up at him.
“If you keep your head down, no one will be able to see that beautiful face of yours,” Sasuke said smiling.
My cheeks heated up more. Then Sasuke did something I never expected to get in my life. He kissed me on my forehead. It was a one second kiss but it felt like it lasted forever. It was the first real affection anyone had ever shown me.
I was frozen in shock so I couldn’t hear them calling my name. I snapped out of it when Sokuru started shaking my shoulders. I looked at him.
“H-hai,” I said softly.
“Jeez, I thought I lost you there,” Sokuru stated dropping his hands.
“Gomen,” I mumbled.
“Just remember you can’t go falling in love with my dad, he’s already taken,” Sokuru remarked smiling.
My face felt like it was about to explode. I rapidly shook my head no.
“No, I could never, I respect Ms. Shirome far too much to ever do such a thing, let alone it’s Sasuke-san,” I said quickly, “Besides Sasuke-san is way too old… I mean he’s not ugly, no not at all, I just could never ever--.”
“Ok, ok we get it, can we go now,” Riku interrupted me.
I glanced up at him a little angered he interrupted me, but kind of glad he did at the same time.
“Yeah let’s get a move on,” Sasuke answered.
We began our walk to whatever restaurant we were going to. I walked alongside Sokuru and Riku on the other side. Ms. Shirome and Sasuke were walking ahead of us.
“Oi, Omi, Riku and me, are going to hang out with some friends tomorrow do you want to come?” Sokuru asked me.
I thought about it for a second. I wasn’t too sure what Sokuru meant by ‘hang out’. If it has to do with friends it must mean, spend time with them. But I don’t know if it would be a good idea. I haven’t seen any of Sokuru’s friends since last time and I didn’t want a repeat of what happened. However, I wanted to make ‘friends’, too. It would be nice to have others around and to be able to spend more time with Sokuru.
“Hai, Sokuru-san, I will ‘hang out’ with you and your friends,” I replied to him.
“Awesome,” Sokuru said smiling.
It was silent for a few minutes as we continued walking.
“Oi, Omi, you don’t have to call me Sokuru-san,” Sokuru said as I looked at him, “you’re older than me and you’re not beneath me or anything.
“Are you sure?” I questioned.
He nodded his head. I smiled softly as I looked away. I tried thinking up of something else to call Sokuru.
“Ok, Kuru-kun,” I replied.
I heard Riku snorted slightly. I looked over at Sokuru. His cheeks were a little red.
“Do you really have to call me that?” Sokuru asked.
“Do you… not like it?” I questioned looking at the ground.
“Hm… you can call me that, just not around other people ok,” Sokuru replied.
“Ok Kuru-kun,” I said looking up at him.
“Kuru-kun,” I heard Riku mumble.
“Oi, Omi, why don’t you give Riku a nickname,” Sokuru replied.
“Ok,” I said and started to think.
“You really don’t have to,” Riku stated.
“Its fine, Ri-kun,” I said looking over at him.
“Ri-kun,” Sokuru said in a sing-song voice.
“Shut up,” Riku said slapping Sokuru in the back of his head.
“Oi, don’t touch me, Sparky-chan,” Sokuru said pushing Riku.
“Sparky-chan?” I repeated.
“Don’t call me that,” Riku snapped at Sokuru.
“Sparky-chan,” Sokuru sung.
“I said don’t call me that She-man-chan,” Riku replied.
“Oi I don’t look like a girl,” Sokuru yelled.
“Could have fooled me Kuru-chan,” Riku teased.
“Got to hell Sparky-chan,” Sokuru snapped.
“Oi, both you shut it now,” Sasuke cut in, “if you don’t then you both are going over my knee.”
“I’m too old for that,” Riku mumbled.
Sasuke however caught it.
“You’re never too old to get your ass kicked,” Sasuke remarked.
Chapter 4
