Solari jumped down half a flight of stairs shouting. “It's about frickin time!” she shouted.
“Nee-chan, what are you shouting about. I wanted to sleep,” Konohamaru said, rubbing his eyes.
Ebisu came out of another room, across the hall from Konohamaru. “Honorable granddaughter, he's right. It's much too early to be awake for people who don't have to be.”
Solari glanced at a clock on the wall. “Oh no! I'm gonna be late. Bye otouto-kun! Bye Ebisu-sensei!” Solari waved as she ran out the door, tying her forehead protector on as she ran.
It was going to be a good day, she could tell. She was going to get her team and begin her career as a Konoha shinobi. Almost nothing could ruin this day.
When Solari reached the familiar classroom in the Academy where she has spent the past 4 years she was pleased to see an empty seat next to her best friend, Hyuuga Hinata.
“Hey, Hinata-chan,” she said, sitting down next to Hinata.
“Ohayo Solari-chan,” Hinata mumbled.
“So, who do you hope is going to be in your team?” Solari asked, brushing her wispy bangs out of her eyes.
“Oh, um,” Hinata blushed. “I'm really hoping that Naruto-kun is-”
The rest of Hinata's sentence was drowned out by a shout that could be heard across the village. “NARUTO! YOU KISSED SASUKE!”
Solari looked around to find the source of her newly acquired migraine. Sure enough, Haruno Sakura was staring at the two boys, fuming.
“I thought Naruto was weird, but that just crosses a line,” Ino said disgusted. All the girls behind her nodded vigorously.
“Okay, settle down everyone,” Iruka walked into the room and everyone took their seats. “As you know today you are going to be assigned to your teams. Each team will be lead by a Jounin. Now if everyone could stand up. We changed one small thing from last year, due to someone,” he glared pointedly at Naruto and everyone laughed, “who tried to sneak in and become a ninja before they graduated.”
As the class stood up conversation broke out and Iruka had to quiet them down again.
“Okay then. As I call your name please sit down. Team 8: Aburame Shino, Hyuuga Hinata, and Inuzuka Kiba.” Hinata sat down, looking disappointed. “Team 10: Yamanaka Ino, Nara Shikamaru, and Akimichi Choji.”
“You kidding me,” Ino mumbled as she took her seat right behind Solari. Solari turned to face her, a smug look on her face which Ino returned.
A few more teams were announced. Finally, only four people were left standing.
“Team 7: Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke.” Naruto mumbled something as he sat down. “Haruno Sakura and Honorable Granddaughter Solari.”
“Oh my God,” Solari said. With a very obvious gesture towards Sakura, she said, “I'm on the same team as the forehead. I thought nothing was going to ruin today.”
Solari smiled to herself. Even though Sakura didn't respond, Solari could tell that she was furious.
“Okay, now we are going to have quick break and after that, each team will meet their Jonin sensei.”
* * *
Almost every team had left the classroom with their sensei. The only team left was team 7
“Um, so, since our sensei isn't here yet, does anyone have anything to say?” Sakura asked nervously.
“I do,” Sasuke said.
“Okay Sasuke-kun, everyone listen we're a team now, we have to pay attention to each other,” Sakura said, staring avidly at Sasuke.
“I became a ninja to get revenge. If any of you get in my way I will bring you down.” A stunned silence followed these words.
“If any of you call me `honorable granddaughter' I'll fly off the edge and you'll be sorry,” Solari said to break the silence.
“If you guys stand in my way of becoming Hokage - Hey what's so funny?”
“You Hokage?” Sakura said through her laughs.
“You need to be a good ninja first.”
Solari and Sakura were laughing so hard they fell out of their chairs. At that moment the door slid open and a man stood in the door.
“I hope I'm not too late. My name is Hatake Kakashi.”
“No problem you're only two hours late sensei,” Sakura said, annoyed.
“Oh, you know traffic.”
“Traffic? You're kidding right?” Solari said disbelievingly.
Kakashi sighed. “Just follow me.” He led them up to the roof of the Academy and motioned for them to sit down on the benches. “I thought we should start out with some introduction, just to get to know each other better. You know, likes, dislikes, dreams for you future, hobbies, and stuff like that.”
“You go first,” Naruto said.
“Me? Fine, my name is Hatake Kakashi. I have no desire to tell you guys about my likes and dislikes. Dreams for the future? Hmmm… Well, I have lots of hobbies…” his voice trailed off, leaving them in silence.
“So all we learned is his name,” Sakura mumbled, Naruto nodded in agreement.
“I'll go then. My name is Uzumaki Naruto. I like Cup Ramen! What I like even more is the ramen from Ichiraku Ramen Bar that Iruka sensei bought me. What I hate is waiting the three minutes for the Cup Ramen to cook. My hobby is eating tons of Cup Ramen! And my dream for the future is to become Hokage! Then all the people in our village will acknowledge and respect me!”
Kakashi shrugged and nodded in Sasuke's direction. “What about you?”
Sasuke had his hands crossed in front of his mouth and when he spoke, it was in a cold, emotionless voice. “My name is Uchiha Sasuke. I don't really like anything. I dislike many things. I don't really have any hobbies. My goal for the future is to restore my clan, and destroy a certain someone.”
“Wow, that's depressing,” Solari said. “Why do girls like you so much?”
“Hey! Don't say that to Sasuke-kun!” Sakura said, she sounded as offended as if Solari had insulted her personally.
“I can say whatever I want to him. You don't control me,” Solari said, glaring at Sakura in return.
“If I did, you would be dead right now.”
Kakashi pointed lazily at Sakura. “You next.” Clearly, he wanted the argument to stop.
Sakura nodded. “I'm Haruno Sakura. What I like is…well…the person I like is…” She glanced at Sasuke.
Solari threw her arms in the air. “This is it. This is what's going to kill me,” she said with a mock tone of exasperation.
Sakura glared at Solari before continuing. “My dream for the future is…” She glanced at Sasuke again. This time, Naruto leaned in front of him and waved at Sakura. “I really dislike Naruto.”
Solari looked around. “I'm the only one left then, alright. My name is Solari. I'm the honorable granddaughter and I hate it. I really love being a ninja. I love mastering a new jutsu. I don't really have any hobbies. In the future I want to influence people and be a powerful ninja. I have a really long list of stuff I don't like, but at the top is probably people who call me `honorable granddaughter' instead of using my name, and the Uchiha Sasuke fan club.”
“There a club?” Sasuke asked.
“There might as well be.”
“Well, now that's over with you can go home. But meet back here tomorrow morning at 9 o' clock for our first mission.”
Solari got up and left the rooftop, closely behind Sasuke. She saw the fan symbol on the back of his shirt and stared at it. She didn't even notice where she was going as she followed Sasuke through the village. Fortunately, he was passing by the Konoha Shinobi headquarters where she lived.
“Honorable granddaughter!” Ebisu called from a second floor window.
Solari's fists clenched. “My name is Solari!” She shouted up at him. “So stop calling me that!”
Ebisu ignored her response. “Hokage-sama wishes to speak with you in his office.”
Solari nodded and entered the building. She reached her grandfathers office without speaking to anyone and pulled the door open. “Grandfather, you needed to see me?”
“Yes I did.” He put down the roster he was reading. “You have known for a long time about your adoption but we never told you about your parents. Now that you are a ninja you are old enough to find out”
