Gaara walked over to Alzid and wrapped his arms around her. He kissed the top head and said, “Welcome back, Alzid.”
Alzid stood, stunned for a moment, but then the feeling rushed back into her and tears rolled down her face. She turned and cried in relief into her father's chest. Gaara looked toward Ichinaru and said, “Ichinaru Uzumaki, I am forever in your debt.”
Ichinaru shook his head, “It's okay. Alzid is a very close friend. This was nothing.”
Gaara stroked Alzid's hair and said, “If you need anything, anything, just ask.”
Ichinaru grinned and said, “I'll keep that in mind, Kazekage-sama.”
“Thank you Ichinaru,” sniffed Alzid. Gaara pushed Alzid away, with some difficulty due to Alzid's massive strength, and sat down. He looked at Alzid and asked, “Where are you going to be staying? I, personally, will not object to your staying in the Leaf, because I know that you would be in capable hands. But is your decision. Remember no matter where you choose you can always come and go when ever you want, I presume?”
He looked at Ichinaru, but he was currently in his own world. Alzid leaving the Leaf?! He had known it was coming, but why did this news hit in the face so hard?
“Ichinaru?”
Gaara's voice brought him back, “Well?”
“Uh, yeah. I'm sorry, spaced out for a minute. Thinking…about…stuff”
Alzid said, “We will talk more about it when we return.”
Something happened at that moment. There was an involuntary urge for Ichinaru to stop her from going. Giving into the urge he said, “No. You're staying here.”
“What?”
“I'm going by myself. I've come to the conclusion that if Orochimaru is there, than it has gone from an A-rank mission to an S-rank mission.”
Gaara shot up.
“Orochimaru's returned?!”
“Yes, very difficult to explain right now.”
“Ichinaru I'm going with you. We started off as a team and were going to finish this as a team.”
“Alzid if I lost you again…”
“Quit with the mellow drama Ichinaru! I'm going whether you like it or not. Besides you can't order me around, I have my own free will.”
Ichinaru snapped, “ALZID OF THE DESERT, NUROSHI PUT ME IN CHARGE OF THIS SQUAD! YOU ARE MY SUBORDINANT ON THIS MISSION AND AS YOUR CAPTAIN I ORDER YOU TO STAY HERE! AND IF YOUR NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT, THEN BY ORDER OF THE HOKAGE`S SON, YOUR ARE TO STAY IN THE SAND UNTIL FURTHER INSTRUCTION IS GIVEN!”
He felt his Eien no Me flash involuntarily and he forced himself to be silent. He looked at Alzid. She had a look of horror and hurt mixed on her face. She was shaking slightly and she looked at him like he was a different man, a monster. He scoffed and turned on a dime, heading toward the door. He was furious with Alzid for making him furious at himself.
He threw open the door and walked out almost running over Kankuro and blonde woman who were apparently eaves dropping. Ichinaru was so angry he didn't even talk when Kankuro asked him what was wrong. Kankuro and the blonde walked inside the room. The blonde squealed loudly and threw her arms around Alzid, completely oblivious to the pained look on her face. She started talking quickly, annoying Kankuro, “Oh Alzid! You're all grown up. You're so adorable. Oh we have so much to do…”
She continued ramble on, but Alzid wasn't paying any attention what so ever. Gaara looked at Kankuro and sent a silent message across the room.
“…Oh and you must meet your cousin! He looks just like his father, and acts like him too. Completely lazy-”
Kankuro grabbed her arm and dragged her out the door. She resisted at first, but quickly noticed the look on Kankuro's face. As soon as they left Gaara stood behind Alzid and put his hands on her shoulders. He pulled a chair out and she absentmindedly sat down. Gaara tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't speak for the rest of the night.
