Title: The Running Free

Naruto was sitting outside the hospital waiting for Sasuke to pick him up. He thought back on all the information he received from his doctor and sighed in resignation about the lack of positive results he was getting out of all of the visits. It’s not like he didn’t appreciate what Tsunade was doing for him, God knows he wouldn’t know what to do without her, but he just felt so insecure about everything at the moment. He just wished everything would be simple and easy. But then again, life was never easy. He decided to stop thinking negatively and focus on his life in the here and now. He was brought back to the real world as he saw Sasuke’s car pull up next to the curb. He headed towards the car and got in the passenger’s seat. He leaned over and gave Sasuke a kiss before he put his seatbelt on as they drove off.
“How did it go?” Sasuke asked Naruto as he drove down the street. He really wanted to be there with his boyfriend when he had his appointments. But with school and work, he didn’t really have the time or the convenience. It made him a bit sad to think that in a couple years he wouldn’t even be able to take Naruto anywhere, considering that his vision was getting so bad that he wouldn’t be able to drive soon.
“It went alright I guess. Didn’t really get the answers I was looking for.” he said with a shrug. “She pretty much said that any birth control I take will have the same side effects. This sucks, Sasuke. I really hate feeling like this. I’m so self conscious about my body, even though I know there’s nothing really wrong with me.” Naruto at this point was close to tears. He hated feeling so vulnerable in front of his boyfriends, especially Sasuke. Sasuke had a tendency to come off as not caring and apathetic, but Naruto knew deep down that Sasuke cared for him. Itachi on the other hand, was more than willing to give Naruto all the love that he could, no matter the time or place.
Sasuke didn’t really know what to say to that. He knew Naruto was feeling overwhelmed with everything that was going on in his life, but frankly, Sasuke didn’t really know what to do for his blond. He wanted nothing more than to pull the car over and hold his lover and tell him everything would be alright. But Sasuke was a realist, who believed that troubles couldn’t be fixed with hugs and empty words. “Naruto…I…I don’t know what to say to make you feel better, baby. I wish I did. But coming from me, they would just be empty promises that I know won’t be the truth. You know how much I love you, but I just can’t tell you something that might end up not working out for you.”
Naruto just nodded and leaned his head against the window. He didn’t expect miracles from Sasuke. He knew Sasuke would give him reassurance in his own time and in his own way. He started to drift off to sleep as the car hummed along the highway. He was so exhausted. Going to the doctor every month was starting to take its toll on him. Not to mention the stress of school and work. Considering he didn’t work often, he only had a part time job at a department store, but school was murder on his nerves and time. He was jerked awake as the car came to a halt in a parking lot. He looked out the window and saw they were at the grocery store. He faintly remembered Sasuke saying something the other night about needing to go grocery shopping. “Do you want me to go in with you?” Naruto asked as he took off his seatbelt and looked at Sasuke.
“If you feel up to it. If you want I can drop you off at the apartment. Itachi should be home by now.” Sasuke said as he took off his seatbelt as well and waited patiently for Naruto to decide what he wanted to do.
“I guess I’ll go with you. I am a bit tired but I’ll be alright. Besides I’m hungry.”
Sasuke chuckled and reached over to grab Naruto’s hand. “You’re always hungry. But if you’re sure then fine.” he said as he released Naruto’s hand and got out of the car. He went around to the other side to open the door for the blond and helped him out.

At the apartment, Itachi had just gotten home from school. There was only one thing he could say about school, it was a complete pain in the ass. He hated the fact that he had to go through so much shit just to get the accommodations he needed to be able to do his school work. Not just scheduling his tests so be proctored (1). But also the money issue. He probably spent more than he made in a month on equipment so he could actually see what he was doing. He looked over at his desk and groaned at all the crap he had taking over the huge space. A CCTV (2), his 22” computer monitor, and not to mention his software for the computer (3). He really needed to call his rehab counselor (4) to see about getting some smaller equipment. He sat down on his bed and took out his mp3 player. Selecting the right text book (5), he started listening to the right pages he needed to read for his psychology class. He really hated audio books, they always made him sleepy, and in no time he felt himself drifting off. The next thing he knew, the front door was opening and Naruto and Sasuke came in with bags of groceries. He turned off his player and walked into the living room to help his lovers.
“How did you…” was all he got out before Naruto went on an all out rant.
“Why does everyone keep asking me about that shit. I don’t want to talk about it anymore. I’m so fucking sick of this…I just want to not think about it for a minute. One minute is that too much to ask? Fuck!” With that a whir of frustrated blond passed by Itachi and locked himself in the bedroom.
Itachi was shocked to say the least and looked over at Sasuke for an answer.
Sasuke just shrugged as he started to put the groceries away. “He’s just stressed. Leave him alone for a while, he gets over it pretty quick.”
“Did something happen?” Itachi asked as he went into the kitchen to help his brother.
“Besides the fact that he didn’t really get any answers, nothing really happened.”
Itachi just shook his head and decided to see if Naruto was alright. He headed to the bedroom door and knocked softly.

After Naruto had locked himself in the bedroom, he flung himself on the bed and let out the sobs he had been holding in all day. He felt so awful. He couldn’t even say why, he just did. Everything was so fucked up in his opinion. He hated having to go through the crap that he did. Yeah he knew that other guys went through the same thing, but not everyone. For instance, his boyfriends weren’t able to get pregnant. He envied them sometimes. They never had to go through the hardships and stress of having to be checked every month and doctors fussing over them. He heard the soft knock on the door and knew right away that it was Itachi. He knew that Sasuke would leave him alone and let him collect himself. He didn’t really want to talk to anyone, but he did need comfort and he knew Itachi could give him that. He got up and unlocked the door, waiting until Itachi opened it himself.
Itachi just looked down at his blond angel and enveloped him in his arms. He led Naruto over to the bed and sat down bringing Naruto down onto his lap. “It’s alright baby, don’t cry.”
Naruto at this point couldn’t stop. All his stress and worries had accumulated to this point and was now just busting forth. He clung to Itachi like he was his lifeline and just cried until he couldn’t anymore. When his tears finally did stop he just let himself be held and fused over. “Sorry for yelling at you earlier. I didn’t mean to.”
“I know you didn’t mean it. You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.” Itachi ran his fingers through Naruto’s soft blond hair and tried to comfort him as much as possible. “Why don’t you sleep for a little while you seem tired.”
Naruto nodded and climbed off of Itachi to situate himself comfortably on the bed. He curled up and looked at Itachi. “Will you lay with me until I fall asleep?”
Itachi nodded as he laid down next to his lover and wrapped his arms around Naruto’s waist. In no time at all he felt Naruto’s breath even out and he knew that the blond was asleep. He knew Naruto wanted him to stay until he fell asleep, but he was content with staying with Naruto until he woke up. Plus, he could use a nap himself.

In the kitchen, Sasuke was frustrated as all hell. He couldn’t believe how bad his vision was getting. Granted it wasn’t as bad as his brother’s but it was slowly getting there. He knew that if he was to keep his vision the way it was now, he’d have to have surgery. His brother was already scheduled for his surgery in about a week. Lucky for Sasuke the doctors were able to catch his condition sooner rather than later, like what happened with Itachi. His vision was bad enough now though that he had trouble reading some fonts of print. He could still read twelve point font pretty well. His eyes tended to strain a lot though if he read without glasses for too long. This was the reason for his frustration. He was in the middle of reading something for his class, when the headache started. He knew that a headache meant that his eyes were getting too strained and he needed to take a break. But Sasuke didn’t like to take breaks, he liked to get the job done in one go. He slammed his book shut with a frustrated growl and looked toward the bedroom door. He knew his brother was comforting Naruto, and he wished for the millionth time that he had the ability to do that. He hated how he felt about some things, especially when it came to comfort and emotions. Most people would say that Sasuke was a jerk and didn’t care about anyone’s feelings, but really you had to get to know him first to know how he really was. Behind closed doors, Sasuke was a really sweet and loving person. Naruto knew this from experience. Even though Sasuke didn’t show it all that often, it was enough. He decided to head to the bedroom to see what his two lovers were up to. After he walked down the hallway he opened the door and walked into the room. Seeing the two men he loved most cuddled together, asleep on the bed was enough to make him smile. He loved those two with everything he had. He knew that he’d die for either one of them. He climbed onto the bed, on the other side of Naruto, making sure not to wake the blond he cuddle up to Naruto and pressed his lips softly to the sleeping man’s lips. Once he was situated, he realized how tired he really was and felt sleep start to take over his mind.
Naruto felt a warm body press up to him from the other side and knew immediately that it was Sasuke. He loved it when he was sandwiched between the two, it made him feel so warm and loved. He felt the warm lips of his lover press against his and he gently pressed back, letting Sasuke know that he was awake. “Are you done studying?” Naruto asked quietly, not wanting to wake up Itachi.
“Just taking a break. Now shut up and go back to sleep.” Sasuke replied as he wrapped his arms tighter around Naruto’s waist.
Naruto just smiled and quietly whispered, “I love you Sasuke.” He then fell asleep soon after.
Sasuke waited until he was sure Naruto was asleep before replying, “I love you too Naruto. More than you can imagine.” With that, he too fell asleep wrapped in the warmth of his blond angel.

Sappy, yes…but you know it’s wonderful. Anyway sorry for the chapters being lame…it’s all the character development and crap like that. Either way hoped you like it!
Test Proctoring: This is something that a lot of colleges do for the visually impaired and other handicaps. It’s where you schedule your tests for a different time so you can go to the disabled student services building to have someone read your test for you so you don’t need to strain your eyes. It also allows you more time, since, like me, when I can’t see something very well, it takes me twice as long to do it.
CCTV: Closed Circuit Television. It’s pretty much a camera that you can hook up to a TV monitor and view text and thing like that at extremely large sizes. This unfortunately is another thing that hinders your time and strains your vision. It takes longer to do work on this because of the fact that it’s so much bigger you can’t really read it as fast.
Computer Software: There are many software programs for the blind and visually impaired. I.e.: Zoom text, an enlarging program (awesome thing too). Jaws, which is a screen reader, this is more for the totally blind or someone who can barely see, it’s a synthetic voice program that reads the screen for you.
Rehab Counselor: Department of Rehabilitation is a program for the handicapped that allows individuals to get the accommodation and equipment they need for school and work. They also help you find a job since it’s murder to try and find work if you’re handicapped. (trust me on this, I know). For the record, it has nothing to do with drugs or alcohol rehab.
