Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ The Ultimate Adventure ❯ Dangerous, Exciting Mission ( Chapter 8 )

Here's the next chapter. It might take me longer than normal to update because my mother is refusing to let me on the computer. I'll do my best though.
Recap
Everyone just stared at Kakashi after his last statement. “Tomorrow we start our duties as an official team. Dismissed!” Rebecca started running home, totally excited about becoming a real ninja. “You know, everyone at home would be amazed at what they see now compared to who we used to be,” Rebecca commented as she collapsed on the couch.
Leonie smiled. “Personally, I think it's a change for the better.”

“Closing in on target,” came Naruto's crackly voice over the headset. “Target distance?” inquired Kakashi. “One hundred feet,” came Sasuke's voice this time. “We're in position and ready!” said Sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto at the same time. “Go!” Kakashi ordered.
All three of them pounced on an orange cat. Naruto grabbed the cat, and immediately the cat started scratching him and yowling. “Target conformation?” asked Kakashi. “Red ribbon on left ear,” Sasuke confirmed. “Mission Missing Pet Tora complete!” Kakashi stated.
He directed his next comment to the two girls beside him. “Don't you think you should have helped?” Rebecca snorted. “Finding a lost pet? That's hardly a mission. Besides, I didn't want to end up looking like Naruto.” Said boy was completely covered in scratches and bite marks. Kakashi rolled his eyes.
At the Hokage Tower
“My precious Tora-chan!” cried a very fat lady, rubbing her head against the cat's as she squirmed, trying to break free. Rebecca was twitching. `If I were that cat, I would've run away too,' Rebecca thought.
The Hokage cleared his throat loudly to gain the attention of the team again. “Alright Team Kakashi and Rebecca and Leonie, your mission choices are babysitting, weeding a garden, or shopping in another village,” he listed.
“No thanks!” Naruto stated. Iruka twitched. “You don't have a choice!” he yelled. “These are stupid missions! They don't do anything to improve me. I'm not the same prankster brat I was!” Naruto yelled back. The Hokage raised his hand for silence.
“I will let you try to prove yourselves. I am going to give you a C-rank mission.” “YAY!” Rebecca and Naruto cheered. Leonie rolled her eyes at her friend's antics. The Hokage chuckled slightly. `So they've found a place here?' he thought. “Iruka, show our guest in,” he commanded.
A few minutes later a tall, old man walked through the doors holding a bottle of alcohol. “I'm the genius bridge builder, Tazuna. Your mission is to protect me from all harm.” Then the man got a better look at the group.
“These little midgets are supposed to protect me? Especially the short one with the stupid-looking face?” Naruto scowled. “Let me kill him!” “Killing the client we're supposed to protect isn't good Naruto,” Kakashi explained with forced patience while restraining the struggling boy in a headlock.
“Who're you calling midget old man?” Leonie asked, glaring fiercely. “I'll be with you so it shouldn't be a problem,” Kakashi assured Tazuna quickly.
At the Gates One Hour Later
Naruto laughed gleefully as he ran down the road and out the gates. Rebecca and Leonie were practically bouncing up and down with excitement. Sasuke just rolled his eyes. “What's with you guys?” Sakura asked. “We've never been out of the village before!” Leonie replied.
They walked in silence for a little while. Then Rebecca noticed a puddle. `That's strange. It hasn't rained in days,' Rebecca thought. She looked at Leonie to make sure she noticed it too. As the two made eye contact, one word went through their minds: Ambush.
The two immediately tensed and prepared for a fight. When they were about one hundred fifty feet from the puddle, a spiked chain wrapped itself tightly around Kakashi. There was only time for Kakashi's eyes to widen before the chain tightened and he was ripped to pieces. “One down,” said the two ninja attached to the chain.
“Kakashi-sensei!” Rebecca cried in an anguished voice. “You killed Kakashi-sensei.” Rebecca turned her fury to the two ninja before her. “Leonie, let's take them out.” Leonie walked up to Rebecca and both of them wore a blood-lusting smile.
Sasuke's POV
I watched as the two girls performed the same seals they had used against me and Kiba back at the Academy, oh so long ago. In perfect unison they called out, “Air Vortex of Doom!” The two ninja were faster than me and Kiba had been and managed to avoid the worst of the attack, but they were still hit with the outer parts of the vortex and sent flying back in opposite directions.
I saw one smash into a tree. The other one landed by Sakura and the old man Tazuna. He got up and looked at the bridge builder before charging. `Oh no, Sakura!' I thought frantically. I jumped in front of her, my only intent to protect her. Then a familiar arm grabbed the charging ninja. I looked up and saw Kakashi standing holding the two ninja.
As Kakashi questioned the ninja, I thought about what had just happened. `Why did I protect Sakura? No, it wasn't Sakura, it was the bridge builder,' I decided. But deep down he knew it was for another reason.
Normal POV
Rebecca listened intently as Tazuna explained the true nature of the mission. When he was finished, she looked at Leonie. Leonie slightly nodded. “Me and Leonie are staying for this mission,” Rebecca stated. “We won't give up or run away. We'll fight through it and become better ninja for it,” Leonie continued. Tazuna gazed at the girls with appreciation.
“I'm staying too!” Naruto declared. “Well, I guess you're lucky,” Kakashi informed Tazuna. “Since more than half the team want to stick with the mission, we'll follow through.”
They continued the boat ride in silence. They got off the boat and kept walking down a dirt path. Naruto suddenly threw a kunai at a bunch of bushes. Everyone tensed up and looked around for what alarmed Naruto. “You baka! There's nothing there!” Sakura yelled.
Rebecca and Leonie yelled simultaneously, “Everyone, get down now!” Everyone hit the dirt as fast as they could. A fraction of a second later a huge sword came twirling through the air and buried itself in a tree. A really tall man with bandages covering his mouth and a hidden mist head band stood on top of the sword.
“Momochi Zabuza,” Kakashi muttered, staring intently at the other man. “Copy Ninja Kakashi,” Zabuza acknowledged. Naruto suddenly charged but was stopped by Kakashi. “This one's on a whole different level,” Kakashi said, never taking his eyes off of him.
“I'm honored,” Zabuza growled as Kakashi's hand rose to push his head band from his left eye. “I get to see the Sharingan already.” `Sharingan?!' Sasuke thought. `How could he have a Sharingan? Unless…no there's no possible way that could happen.' “Sharingan? What's Sharingan?” the ever-clueless Naruto asked. “It's a special ability that is only available to Uchihas,” Sasuke replied as Kakashi and Zabuza began to fight.
It looked like a pretty even match until Kakashi jumped in the lake to avoid one of Zabuza's attacks. When Kakashi surfaced, he looked surprised. “The water's…heavy.” Kakashi's eyes widened as he saw a sphere of water appear around him. `Oh no, I've been caught!' Kakashi panicked. He saw Rebecca prepare to fight. “NO! Don't fight, run, save yourselves. This fight was over the instant I was trapped.”
“No!” Rebecca yelled fiercely. “We will not run away or hide,” Leonie repeated as she took her place beside Rebecca to face Zabuza's clone. The girls' hands moved together. Zabuza's eyebrows rose (well they would if her had any). `They have perfect teamwork, that's for sure,' he thought.
Rebecca and Leonie finished their hand signs and cried together, “Shadow Clone Jutsu!” There were suddenly twenty more Rebeccas and Leonies. The clones attacked Zabuza's clone while the girls started another hand sign sequence. Zabuza's clone quickly disposed of Rebecca and Leonie's clones only to be blasted into little droplets of water as it was hit by their Air Vortex of Doom jutsu.
The vortex kept going and slammed into the real Zabuza, sending him flying backwards with incredible force. He flew through two trees before finally making a huge dent in a third tree. Before the finishing blow could be dealt, though, two senbon needles pierced Zabuza's neck. They all looked up to where the needles had come from. There was a mist hunter-nin standing in the tree.
“Thank you,” he said. “I have been looking for this one for a long while.” The nin jumped down from the tree and grabbed Zabuza's dead body. He performed one handed seals and disappeared after a quick nod in the group's direction.
“Let's go,” Kakashi ordered. As they walked a couple of steps, Rebecca and Leonie's vision turned blurry then black as they passed out.

Sorry it's been taking me so long to update. I've got serious writer's block so I don't know when the next chapter will be.
