Prologue

 

It was a calm morning in Konoha. An event was scheduled at this time, one known as the Chunin exams.

Far from Konoha, there was an island know as Isle de Gambino. This was linked to another island named Barton Town. In Barton Town, a young ninja was preparing himself for the exams. Me, Kitsune Yamato, age 18. I had ebony medium-length hair and navy hues as well as one piercing in each earlobe, being decorated by shuriken-shaped studs. I had dressed myself in a fitted sleeveless navy shirt, baggy blue pants and navy ninja shoes, as well as steel-plated gloves that came only to my wrists. Around my neck, I wore a miniature kunai pendant. Finally, I held my hands together in a sign and whispered, “Concealment Jutsu.” This caused my fox ears and my tail to shrink and retract into my body, so I would look like a human being.

I was just tying on my head protector when I looked back and saw my beloved still sleeping under the sheets. Jeniveve Akari, a strange woman with a kind personality hiding a sorrowful spirit. I had died once and it had cost me my eyes, but I won them back over time, and vowed never to put my life in serious danger again. Yet here I was, about to depart with Suki Yashi, a young friend of Jen's, and Tokeru Hashimashida, my tavern cook and an extraordinary ninja, for an exam that many have died in. I was about to leave the bedroom when I heard a soft voice speak to me.

“Do you really have to go, Kit?” she asked me, and I turned around to see Jen there, sitting up in our bed, and I answered, “Yes. I died last time, I know... but this time will be different. I won't die, Jen... I promise.” Jen only looked ground-ward, not very convinced by this. “That's what you said last time,” she told him. When she looked up again, I said, “I love you...” before heading off to meet with Tokeru and Suki. We travelled together aboard a boat to reach the Great Naruto Bridge.
