Chapter Twelve
Farewell for now
The Waves Team departs Konoha

The next morning was dark and heavy on all the village of the hidden leaf. That day was the day that Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, would be put to rest. Tokeru and I borrowed some black clothes from the people in the village, and Suki got some from Sakura. We all met up in a street, not saying a word, for we did not need to. I supposed it was out of respect for the Hokage. Once we got to the Hokage's memorial, everyone turned to us briefly. I had not concealed my fox apparel, I decided that the village would accept me as I truly was after all I did for them. We all stood in front of the Hokage's memorial, paying our respects. I was next to Sakura, behind Tokeru and Suki. Suddenly, it began to rain. It began with simple drops, but it soon became a downpour.

“Rain.” I stated, looking up at the sky slightly.
“The sky is crying as well,” believed Tokeru. A man and a woman were standing in front of a white table, which lay before the Hokage's memorial.

“The funeral for the third Hokage, who lost his life in battle, as well as the other victims who gave their lives, will begin now.” said the man.
People went forth and placed flowers on the table. I went and placed my own, then went back next to Sakura. I hugged her, letting a few of my tears fall for the Hokage. I then heard Naruto talk to Iruka-sensei.

“Why do people risk their lives for others?” asked Naruto.
“Because when a person dies, they leave behind their past, current life and future.” Iruka-sensei answered. “Many people die in missions and wars. They die easily and in surprising ways. Those who die have goals and dreams. But everyone has something as important as those. Parents, siblings, friends, lovers... children... People who are important to you. They trust and help each other. The bond between people important to you ever since birth and the string that binds them becomes thicker and stronger as time goes by. It's beyond reason. Those bound to you by that string will do that. Because it's important.”
“I think I understand better now... but... it's painful when someone dies.”
“The Third Hokage didn't die for nothing,” said Kakashi-sensei. “He left something important in all of us. You'll find out what eventually.”
“Yeah, I think I understand that, too a little.”

I then realized that the rain had stopped. Sakura mentioned so. We dispersed, Suki, Tokeru and I going back to change into our former outfits. Naruto said goodbye to Iruka-sensei. Tokeru, Suki and I stood in front of Team 7, and we prepared to say our final goodbyes.
“Come back, soon, okay?” asked Sakura. “You're welcome here anytime.”
“Same to you.” I replied. “We'll come visit.”
“It was great meeting you guys...” said Naruto, who seemed on the verge of tears.
“Naruto, are you crying?” I asked.
“N-no way! You're crying!” he replied.
“Am not!”
“It's okay, to cry just let it out.”
“You first...”
Suddenly, we both burst out in tears and hugged each other, making the girls giggle.
“If you do come around Kitsune's tavern, I will be glad to cook you a meal.” Said Tokeru to Kakashi.
“It was great seeing you guys again,” smiled Suki.
“Well we should get going now-” I began as I wiped my tears and let go of Naruto.
“Hey, Kitsune!”
I looked behind me, and I could barely believe my eyes. Jen was standing there with two of the most beautiful children I had ever seen.
“Jen!” I cried out, running to her and hugging her gently. “They're just... adorable...”
“I just couldn't stay and rot in that tavern any longer... the month felt like a century without you, my love.”
“What are their names?”
“I named the boy Alexander, I thought it be only fair that you name the girl.
Suddenly, the girl she was holding began playing with my pendant. “Kuni.” I stated. “Kuni it will be.”
“Well, we should get going now. Suki, Tokeru!”
“Wait!” Suki cried out. “Let's take a picture together!” She motioned towards a waiting photographer. We walked to it, and took two pictures, one for them and one for us. Finally, we said goodbye. My teammates and best friends followed me, and we walked away back to The Village of the Waves with my team, my wife, and my two newborn children, Kiyoshi and Kuni.
