Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ The War ❯ Kazu ( Chapter 3 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Kazu looked around the desolated Leaf Village, he had been here before, it seemed like it was another lifetime ago.
When Konohagakure was at war with Iwagakure.
Ishiyama Kazu was comparable to the Yellow Flash of Konoha. There was a standing `flee on sight' order directed at him as well. Kazu was a talented and feared shinobi.
……..but that was in the past…. before the council of the Rock Village and its Kage dishonorably discharged him from the shinobi ranks.
To this day he knew that he had made the right decision. Mission or not, enemy or not, he would not allow the blood of innocents to be shed by his hands.
“Ishiyama this is a class S mission, the fate of this war lies in your hands. You will go to Konohagakure under cover of night and kidnap 5 children. You will bring them back here and we will make examples of them. We'll show those Leaf bastards what happens when you go to war against the mighty Rock.” The Tsuchikage said in a solid voice, his eyes gleaming sinisterly.
“What! No Tsuchikage-sama. You mustn't dishonor the Land of Earth by doing such a despicable thing. There are other ways; we mustn't spill the blood of innocent children. I will not do it. No matter what you say I will NOT do it.”
A 25 year old Kazu said fervently, anger blazing in his eyes. Hurt that the Tsuchikage would throw away all honor to do such a thing.
“Well Kazu, I'm disappointed in you, I'll find someone else who is loyal enough to do what he has been commanded. You were the pride of our village, but now you are the lowest of garbage. War is meant to be fought at all costs, there is no right and wrong in the art of war. Ishiyama Kazu, I hearby dishonorably discharge you from the shinobi ranks of Iwagakure. Keh. Your honor has been destroyed, what say you?”
The Kage spoke cruelly, his voice full of anger at this direct disobedience from his best shinobi.
“You may dismiss me from the ranks, but I will continue to fight for the good of Iwagakure, in hopes that someday, we will see a more peaceful time, one which would have no need for such despicable acts that you speak of.”
Kazu was never able to use chakra again, the Kage put a seal on the inside of his right fore arm that sealed his chakra, to a ninja, chakra was everything. The Kage wanted to make him feel like he was nothing.
It had been a hard life after that, jeered by his peers, shunned by his village. Having to learn new ways to protect himself and the village. He grew angry at the shinobi of his village, the power that they possessed went to their heads, declaring themselves better than the common man. Kazu expelled anything shinobi like from his life from then on.
To fight for justice is a lonely life, but a life he none the less had lead.
He continued his life in Iwagakure, learning new ways to defeat enemies, becoming a perfect handler of weapons that no shinobi would ever touch.
He was no longer a shinobi, he was just one man fighting for what he believed in.
In his heart of hearts he hoped to show the shinobi of Iwagakure the error of their thinking. He joined the non-shinobi army of the Land of Earth, and quickly rose in the ranks for his quick thinking, proficiency with his weapons and his ability to lead. The chakra seal continued to bother him through his life, to hold back one's chakra is not healthy, especially when you have as much chakra as Kazu had. He had learned to deal with the constant agony that the seal gave him, though some days it was worse than others.
Now he was alone, save his two comrades. Here again he found himself in the midst of battle. Fighting against an enemy with no honor, and enemy who would do anything to destroy everything.
That, he would not allow.
“Not on my watch, Snake. Your end is near.”
