Under The Underneath

 

Chapter Three: Snakes

 

Naruto was quiet. He was hunched over when he walked and had dark rings under his eyes.

 

“Fuck Naruto what happened to you?” Naruto looked up to see Kiba looking at him with a grin.

 

“I couldn't get any sleep last night. My roommate was jacking off to the sound of music.” Naruto tried at being funny.

 

“I'll have them know you live with Tsuki Naruto, you were thinking about…..” Kyuubi trialed off when Naruto slapped his hand over his mouth. They could always tell between Kyuubi and Naruto. Kyuubi's voice was deep and almost growling. Naruto's was deep just more like lace then the leather of Kyuubi's.

 

“You know…if I didn't know that was Kyuubi talking…it would be freaky.” Naruto turned to see Sai walk in with Sakura and Neji behind him. Tsuki was leaning against the principal's desk with his eyes closed and his arms crossed in front of his chest. Gaara was sitting on the small couch in the room watching everything take place.

 

“Never mind that is really freaky.” Sai corrected himself.

 

“You a Shinigami calling me freaky? I don't go around killing people.” Naruto retorted. Sai just huffed.

 

“I don't kill people, I reap souls, and there is a difference.”

 

“Alright that's enough.” Tsunade said as she walked into the office.

 

“First things first, Neji.” She sat down in her chair and watched the pale eyed youth.

 

“I came upon some disturbing information last night. Sasuke Uchiha is back. I request a guard at all times incase he regains his memories.” Neji told Tsunade.

 

“I'll do it!” Naruto quickly snapped his mouth shut.

 

Damn it Kyuubi! Naruto growled at the laughing fox.

 

“Ok, since Kyuubi volunteered it will make that aspect a lot easier. Team Kyuubi will watch the Uchiha.” She threw an all knowing smirk at the blond.

 

“Nothing is as easy as it seems.” A new voice came from the door. The six teens' heads shot to the door. A tall pale white man stood with long black hair and dark blue eye shadow over amber eyes.

 

“Orochimaru!” the immortals of the group shouted.

 

“No…my name is Yuki Orochi…” Amber eyes glanced at Tsunade.

 

“Yuki this is Shinobi Hokage. Welcome. Naruto, the blond, is the leader.” Tsunade said as she pointed to Naruto.

 

“Naruto Uzumaki huh. The legendary Kyuubi.” Yuki said in a sickly sweet voice. A white snake crawled from the collar of his shirt and looked at Naruto. The blond gulped when he saw it.

 

“Yuki is your new member.” Tsunade told them. Shivers ran down Naruto's spine.

 

“Not all snakes have venom, Na-ru-to.” The snake on Yuki's shoulder yawned.

 

“Haku I thought I told you to get some sleep last night…” Yuki said in a whining sweet voice. He sighed. There went his scary first impression. Everyone in the room raised their eyebrows except Tsunade. Yuki sheepishly rubbed the back of his head as he grinned at everyone.

 

“Why do you have a snake on school property?” Sakura asked. Yuki looked at her wide eyed.

 

“Haku is not a snake…he's an ophisaurus apodus or legless lizard. He's also albino.” Yuki grinned.

 

“That's not fair; you won't let me bring Akamaru to school!” Kiba whined at Tsunade.

 

“That's because Akamaru is huge…dog breath!” Naruto shouted at Kiba. The wolf demon growled at Naruto.

 

“Alright that's all. Dismissed.”

 

 

It seemed that not only did Tsuki share all his classes with Naruto, but Yuki as well. Classes went by fast and soon lunch came up. Naruto sat down with his tray and the rest of the group followed. Soon the whole table was full of the Shinobi talking and laughing. Naruto was quiet. Yuki frowned and took a seat by the blond.

 

“Ne Naruto, why are you so sad?” Yuki asked him. Naruto beamed a fake smile at Yuki how saw right through it.

 

“You're not fooling me with that.” Yuki said as he ate, every once and a while a white head would come out of his shirt sleeve and steal a piece of food. Naruto genuinely smiled when he saw Haku steal a carrot.

 

“You want to hold him?” Yuki asked. Naruto looked up at Yuki and grinned. The white legless lizard crawled out of Yuki's sleeve and onto Naruto's wrist. Naruto tensed at first but seeing that how smooth the creature was he quickly relaxed.

 

“I thought he would be slimy.” Naruto said with a smile. He ran his forefinger down the top of Haku's head to his neck.

 

“You sure take to odd creatures Naruto,” Naruto heard Sai say.

 

“So? This is not as bad as Shino's bugs were.” Sai shivered at Naruto's comment causing the blond to chuckle. Haku made his way back into Yuki's sleeve when the bell rung.

 

“Lunch is over…” Yuki sighed.

 

 

 

 

After school everyone was prepared to head off to their apartments when Yuki tugged on Naruto's sleeve.

 

“Want to come see my other pets?” Yuki said with a smile. Naruto shivered for a second then smiled.

 

“Yeah, then I have to go watch Uchiha.” Naruto smiled.

 

 

Yuki's apartment was small. He had class fish tanks all around the room filled with various serpents.

 

“This one is Mamba! I picked him up when I lived in South Africa.” Yuki pointed to a black snake.

 

“It's poisonous that's why I didn't take him out of his cage.” Yuki told Naruto who in turn backed away from the tank.

 

“Why do you have all these snakes?” Naruto asked.

 

“Oh! I fight with them. I can control snakes isn't that cool?” Yuki said with a smile.

 

“Which ones do you fight with?” Naruto asked, completely interested. Haku walked over to a large tank where two snakes with yellow eyes looked up at him. One was black with a white dot on its head and the other was white with a black dot on its head.

 

“Yin and Yang. They are poisonous but very gentle for people to handle. They have been passed down through generations I got these guys when I was 12. They were small then.” Yuki laughed.

 

“Yin has a special poison that stops chakra flow, and Yang can paralyze someone with her venom.” Yuki informed a curious Naruto.

 

“I used to know this guy. A long time ago. He looked a lot like you.”

 

“Orochimaru? Yeah I've heard of him. A long time ago he betrayed his country to play god and was said to have been a giant snake in a human shell.” Yuki told him.

 

“Don't worry! I'm completely human!” Yuki smiled. Naruto was starting to like the snake user.

 

“Well I have to go follow teme around.” Naruto said as he scratched his head.

 

“Ok! See you tomorrow at school!” Yuki said as he walked Naruto to the door. Naruto heard the door shut behind him. Yuki was strange and a little creepy, but the snake freak wasn't that bad. He grinned. It was going to be fun working with Yuki.
