Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto nor do I own the inspiring song Grave Digger sung by Dave Matthews Band.
Author's Note: This is short I know. It doesn't really have a plot. It's just something to read that might pass some time. A vignette if you will.
When You Dig My Grave
Naruto had asked the gravedigger for a special request, that when he died he didn't want to be too far beneath the ground. He wanted to be close, close to the village that he held so dear to his heart, even if they never gave a shit about him. A few weeks later his body was found dead, no one knew how and not many cared to know. They never did find out and soon that same gravedigger had enough decency in him to respect the dead and perform the duty asked of him.
There in that shallow grave Naruto laid, mind, body and soul… No one knew and no one suspected that as they “visited” him. The devils that stepped on the flowers he received from Iruka, didn't know how he felt that pressure in his very still heart. The people, who spat, left their bloody excretions, didn't know how those actions stained his soul. Even after all this, he waited in his shell of a body. He was still waiting for the much coveted acknowledgement he never did receive. However, now he wanted it in a different form, no longer in the title of hokage but as tears. Tears from a beloved; tears from someone who cared; tears from someone who he wanted to give him a pinch of acknowledgement. Oh hell, even a lone tear from someone he knew would have sent his soul to heaven, but that never came as he laid waiting. He laid there even as his body decayed into a meaningless pile of bones for that one special drop of liquid. Still there even as the years washed away his very existence from the slab of stone beside his grave.
Author's Note: Man this saddened me out. Even more so than getting like no reviews from my last story. Hoped you enjoyed it even with all its shortness.
