Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ World Collision ❯ Keep on following ( Chapter 6 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Sorry I haven't been posting as constant as I usually do; I've been busy lately. I also finally discovered what the difference between `blond' and `blonde' is. For the longest time I didn't know why there were two spellings for blonde and what the difference was between them… So I just used blonde since I like blond with an `e' rather than without it… And now I find out that that's the way you spell blonde in the feminine form. ^^,'' I really should have seen that coming… So then I had to go back and change them all. So if you see any blondes still floating around while describing a male character, please tell me so I can correct it.

She hadn't seen it coming. That harsh slap on the head, that felt more like a hammer when its blow connected with her face, had been unexpected in her mind. She could feel the thick, sharp chunks of earth being driven into her cheek when she hit the ground. The first thought that had occurred to her was, `how a slap could be so powerful'? She had been on her two feet a moment before, and now she lay on the ground. As her cheeks grew hot with the blood that rushed in her head, she felt the hot liquid drip down her cheek from the many cracks created in it. Why had he done that to her? She had been so scared over the past twenty-four hours, that her mind had been driven into madness as she franticly tried to find answers to the questions that echoed endlessly throughout her mind.
Sasori now looked down at her without a single ounce of sympathy in his eyes. As he gave one last glance at the girl, with a slight grunt he turned to follow the blonde who was now many meters ahead of them. Jessica then looked down at her hand again as she continued to dab her bleeding cheek with it. It was if every time she took her hand away from her face, she expected there to be no blood as if she had dreamed it all. With every touch of the cut, she felt a burning pain in her cheek; there was no denying that it was real. Gridding her teeth, she brushed her cheek roughly as she tried to get all of the shards of rock and dirt out as she could. There was no first aid kit around for her to patch herself up with. What did the two men expect her to do about it then? Of course, Deidara would not help her. The fact would remain a constant in that situation, since he was the one who had done this to her in his rage. Sasori on the other had, didn't even like her let alone had any sort of desire to help her. She could easily tell how he felt about her with the cold glairs he sent her way whenever he found her even the slightest bit annoying.
Slowly standing to her feet, she raised up her dizzy head to see the two men who continued to walk away. Were they even paying any attention to her? Did they even care that she wasn't following them at that moment? Looking back at the village, she wasn't completely sure that it wasn't a half bad idea to try to run back to it and escape from her `captors'. It wasn't as if life would be any worse there than it would if they continued to abuse her like that. The more Jessica thought of this idea, the more she liked it. She could get a job, find some nice people to help her out till she was on her feet, and then live the rest of her life there peacefully. Perhaps, she could even raise a family, and have a happy life in this world!
Glancing back, she could see that the two still hadn't been paying any attention to her what so ever. She guessed that Deidara had had enough of her, and Sasori didn't give a crap whether or not she tagged along or not. In fact, he would probably be relieved if she were gone. This was now a good, no, perfect opportunity to escape! Jessica had no idea whether or not she'd have the chance again if she decided to continue following them. It was a wide door of opportunity for her life from then on if she could escape from them! Taking a small step, she slowly turned in the direction of the village.
Suddenly, a knot formed in her stomach. Something in her would not let her take another step towards the village. She didn't know what made her stop, or at least she tried not to know. The silent voice in her head told her to turn back, and to follow Deidara. Looking back at the man, she was confused in the command given to her. Of course, God wasn't going to force her to carry out his plans for her, but she tried following them as much as she could. But this, did he really want her to do this of all things? To be a slave to this man was he plan for her? It made no sense in her mind. Why on earth would he want to have her live the life of a slave rather than a free life where she could prosper? This made no sense at all to her. How could it be the right thing to do? It wasn't as if the man had trusted her, had he? Even if Deidara had trusted her all that time, even if he believed that she wouldn't try running, what of it? She didn't ask for his trust in the first place. She had made up her mind; she was going to leave him! She wanted to leave him so badly now, she couldn't stand being pushed around like this! Yet the voice in her consciousness continued to work at her, telling her to keep going.
Slumping her head down, she turned back to face the two men who continually got farther and farther away from her. “I just know one of these days I'm really going to regret doing this,” she mumbled as she began to follow the two people she least wanted to be with.
As the expression of anger and agitation never left Deidara's face as he walked with great strides to get away from the village he use to call home. He had to escape from his past, escape from all of the people who once knew him. No matter what, he had to get away from that place once and for all.
“I saw the girl head back to the village. Deidara-san, are you just going to let that brat escape?” A voice from behind the man asked dully. Glancing back at his partner, the blond snarled as he rolled his eyes.
“I really don't care right now. So what if she escapes? I could just track her down if I wanted her back! It's not like that brat could out smart me!” He yelled angrily. “I don't care… I shouldn't have bought her in the first place.”
“Then why did you?” The cold man asked as his partner finally saw it his way.
“Because she stood out to me, with that look on her face she seemed… different from all of the other slaves. It was as if there was a light in her, but, what do you care about this? I don't ask why you buy all of the slaves you have!” He said turning to look at the man with a raised fist. Within seconds though, a questioning look came on his face as he looked down the road he had treaded upon before hand. There behind them, the girl slowly but surely followed.
“What's this? Perhaps she's more loyal than I thought,” Sasori stated what Deidara must have been thinking.
This came to a shock in Deidara's eyes. Why was she still following them? Did she not believe that she could survive on her own? Were they her last resort? Surely she must have thought of escaping! “Sasori-san, didn't you say she turned back to go to the village?”
“Yes, I'm never wrong.” He replied gruffly as he also looked onto the sight the blond saw. “She did start to walk back to the village after you hit her.”
Looking from Sasori to Jessica, Deidara was still confused. The girl must have been stupid, besides being over talkative to keep following. Who would do such a thing? He knew that he had left the door of freedom open for her when he walked off without her, and yet there she was now only about eight meters away. Perhaps the girl knew that she could easily have been killed if she tried to run.
“Hurry up Omae,” The man said rather hesitant as the girl lifted her head at the sudden sound of his voice. Looking back down at the girl, she picked up her pace as she neared the two. “What an odd girl, Sasori-san,” he commented as he turned again to walk away.
“I guess so.” He replied as the girl caught up with their pace.
