Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ World Collision ❯ Finally discovered ( Chapter 24 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Heheh, I had a lot to work with for this one… So it's twice the usual's size! I hope you'll comment for all the work I put into this one! (I was at a point where I couldn't just stop it at a good place so I had to go on with it…)

Jessica's heard beat loudly as she heard unfamiliar voices shout to one another from the other end of the wall, along with all the other noises they made. What was going on? Had the rescue team for the boy finally reach them? She had the thought of pressing her ear by a crack in the rock, but didn't have the nerve to try it. After staring at the rock constantly as if waiting for something to happen, she quickly turned her head as she heard the leader of the `Akatsuki' speak.
“Sasori and Deidara, deal with the ones outside.” At the sound of that, Jessica felt as if her heart had stopped. They were going to fight, kill or perhaps be killed? As a knot formed in her stomach for some reason, she tried hearing the rest of what they were saying. “Capture the Jinchuuriki alive. The rest of you, scatter.”
“Itachi,” Sasori said getting the attention to one of the men who had `left' earlier to hold the reinforcements off. “What kind of dog is the Kyuubi Jinchuuriki?” The man didn't reply to the question given to him. It took the leader's command to tell his associate.
“At the very start,” he said slowly. “He'll be the one to shout loudly and rush at you.” Jessica raised her eyebrows slightly as she let the situation slip from her thoughts. In her mind, she pictured that this person was someone who was pretty annoying… A lot like her little brother had been.
“Huh, what the heck,” Sasori replied with un-satisfaction of the answer he got.
“That's all? You have nothing more specific, mm?” Deidara added to show his aggravation of having such little detail told about the boy. Sasori then sneered as all of the people around them but the leader vanished.
“I'll be waiting for contact.” He said moments before he vanished along with the statue. As dust filled the open space of the cave, Jessica waved her hand in front of her face as she coughed a few times.
“….What now?” She asked hesitantly as she gazed around the room but found no one but themselves there. As Deidara and Sasori's figures became more recognizable as the dust settled, she slowly walked towards them with wobbly legs.
“Just wait for it…yeah,” Deidara said as he stepped over the boy's body before sitting on it. “It shouldn't take to long before they barge in here, yeah.” Jessica then sighed as she held her eyes half closed. Waiting was all she had been doing for the past few days; she didn't want to continue doing that.
“Jessica,” the blond said getting her attention. As she quickly lifted her head, she caught the small bag that was tossed to her. “They don't do that much, but you'll need something to sustain you for all the running you'll probably have to do in a little while, yeah. Take two of them.” Jessica then gave a confused look as she tried thinking of what he meant. As it processed through her mind, Deidara and his partner saw her expression transform into an alarmed one as she realized what he was saying.
“So they might… Kill me?” She asked hesitantly as she looked at the man before her.
“Why else would I tell you that you'll need to run, mm?” He replied with raised eyebrows as the girl then looked down at the bag. Untying the knot, she stared at the small brown pill she pulled out of it.
“Is this some sort of an energy pill then?” She asked without taking her eyes from the thing she held in her right hand. Getting a nod as a response, she gave the two men one last glance before taking another out of the bag and swallowing them both whole. As her face cringed a bit as she felt them as two large lumps slowly tailing down her dry throat, she looked down at the boy. She couldn't detect any breathing, moaning, or any sort of movement from him.
“Is he,” Jessica began as she gazed at the boy's sorrowful looking face.
“He's dead,” Sasori replied as the girl let out a soft sigh of mixed feelings. “Do you have a problem with that?”
“Frankly as a fellow human being, specifically being a woman, I do rather…” She said as she turned her face towards the entrance of the cave to hide her discomfort. “Just what were you all doing that did this to him?”
“Haven't you been paying attention to everything? What were you doing that whole time Omae?” Deidara snarled as he went on to explain. “We removed the Jinchuuriki's tailed beast.”
“So…” She began as she tried working it out in her head. “This `process' of removing this `beast' kills whoever it's being taken out of?” Seeing that Deidara was getting rather impatient with her now, she stopped talking.
“That's precisely what I mean,” he answered as he pushed part of his cloak back to put his hand into one of his pouches. After a few seconds he took his hand back out, put the usual bird sculpture on the ground, and enlarged it after making a hand sign. “Better make my escape now before they get here huh?” He said as he looked up at his creation. “Once we get the Jinchuuriki, I'm going to find my arm, yeah. It's annoying with only one.”
After a few seconds, all three of their heads turned to look towards the rock that blocked their view of the enemies as they heard someone yell. Suddenly, a loud bang could be heard before what once was the rock was all but a pile of rubble. Startled, Jessica jumped back a bit where she automatically stood in a pose that allowed her to run at any moment given if need be. For a moment that felt like an eternity nothing happened. Shading her eyes, she tried seeing passed the bright daylight that hurt her eyes that hadn't seen it in days. As this still moment ended though, in a flash four people appeared in the cave with wide eyes. Jessica stared at them blankly as they stared back at them with the same look. “Who are these people?” she thought as she looked over each person.
The first one that was at her far left was an old woman who wore a long, cloak like robe that covered her from neck to toe. By her age, she guessed that the woman must have been Sasori-san's grandmother that was mentioned. Next to her that Jessica estimated to be about five feet away, was a girl who looked around her age. She had pink hair that went down around her chin, and wore a sleeveless red shirt that had a short, stand-up collar, long black sandal-like boots, black gloves, and what she made out as tan sorts. On the other side of the entrance was a boy who also looked around her age who had blond hair and wore orange and black clothing. The last person, who was a man, had long sliver hair that stuck up in the strangest fashion she had seen yet which outdid Deidara-sama's strange hair-do in her mind. Besides his hair, she couldn't make out much about his face that was all covered with a black mask but his right eye. On his body he wore a dark colored pair of pants and long sleeved shirt, along with a vest that looked like some of the Sand ninja's besides the fact that it was green. Jessica had the feeling in her mind that if the situation were different, that she would probably get along well with these people instead of running from them with her life. What would she do? Looking at from the old woman to Sasori, she found that they were staring at one another intensely. She had a feeling that something had happened between the two, which would explain why they were on opposite sides.
“Well then,” Deidara said with a wide grin on his face. “Which one of you is the `Jinchuuriki' I wonder… mm?”
“You dogs!” The boy yelled from across the room with rage showing plainly on his face as he stepped forward. “I'll smash you to pieces!”
“…That one…” Sasori said as Deidara added in simultaneously.
“Well, seems like it… mm.”
Jessica could tell that the boy was getting more and more angry every moment. As his face became more and more frightening, she had half the thought of hiding behind her master before the realization that Deidara would probably be the boy's main target. Nervously looking from Sasori and Deidara to the other group, she couldn't figure out what she should do.
“Gaara… What are you doing, sleeping there lazily? Stand the heck up! Hey Gaara, are you listening to me?” He shouted as the pink haired girl turned to look at him with a worried face.
“Stop, Naruto,” the masked man commanded. “You should understand…” The boy then stood in silence as he held his teeth together tightly.
“Yeah, yeah, don't you get it?” Deidara added in smugly. “He's well dead, mm.”
Jessica then looked at him with disbelief on her face as a rather sharp look then came across her face. She couldn't stand the whole thing before, but now with the people who cared about the young man now here? “Deidara-sama,” she snapped. “It was bad enough that you murdered this guy, which made me ashamed enough about you being my master, but this? Rubbing it in his their faces that you were the main contributor to this whole affair? How on earth can you live with yourself let alone talk in that fashion about it!”
“Omae shut the heck up!” He yelled as he slapped her hard on her bruised cheek. Jessica then stumbled back a little as she felt blood rush to her cheek. The others across the room then made different sounds that showed that their thoughts of the men had been made up.
“Give…Him back…” The boy demanded as his eyes flashed red, and three large black scar-looking marks on both cheeks darkened. As neither of them replied, he started running at them as he yelled loudly. “Give Gaara back you dogs!”
Suddenly, the grey haired ban appeared in front of the boy and didn't allow him to move any further. “Calm down…” He commanded. “If you go rushing in there without thinking, they'll destroy you…”
“I'll look after this one.” Sasori stated after thinking for a minute.
“It seems like that Jinchuuriki wants to take this one back. Sasori-san… This will probably make you angry but… I'll handle that Jinchuuriki, mm.” Deidara said as he looked over to his partner.
“The assignment is one person per beast… Don't push it Deidara.”
“If an artist doesn't get high levels of inspiration, his sentiments are dulled… It's said that the Kyuubi Jinchuuriki is considerably strong…mm”
“What, you call those explosions fine art? Fine art is something wonderful that's left long into the future… eternal beauty.” Sasori said in a mocking tone.
“They involve the same skill labor, I respect you, but fine art is the beauty of that single fleeting moment of explosion.”
“Oh no,” Jessica muttered as she returned to her old spot after rubbing her cheek. “Not this; sorry, but even that slap won't keep me from interrupting this conversation again. Seriously, would you two stop your arguing about what you think art is? In a sense, you're both wrong… Or perhaps a better wording that will save my butt would be that you're both right, yet wrong at the same time… But technically when one thinks of art, you think of drawings and paintings, not bombs and puppets! Like, when I went to art class at school, which I got pretty good grades in by the way, we never made bombs or puppets! Art is a lot of things, not just one thing or another… Though I do think that things that don't stay long well… Don't really have a point is what I'm saying?”
“Do you want me to hit you again, only harder? Huh, Omae,” Deidara yelled as Jessica put her ands in front of her as she backed up a bit.
“No, but I was just saying,” she started before being interrupted.
“Just shut up for a moment would ya? I've been working my butt off for the past three days and I didn't want to end it to listen to another one of your sermons! What was I thinking when I bought you? A light in you, am I kidding myself?”
“Wha… What kind of people are these?” The pink haired girl said with disbelief in how the three of them had been doing the past few minutes they had been in there.
“Stop playing around!” The boy yelled as he pulled out a long scroll before a weapon popped out of it. Then throwing the windmill looking weapon at them, he was surprised as Sasori blocked it with his puppet's tail as if it were nothing.
“Deidara you crap, are you trying to piss me off?” He growled as he went back to their old conversation.
“Well then… I was right when I said I'd probably make you angry, hnm?” Standing to his feet at the same time his clay bird picked up the dead boy's body in its beak, he continued to talk. “My fine art is explosions. Completely different from your little puppet show, mm,” he stated as his bird took off in the air. With an angry look on his face, Sasori swung his puppet's tail at his underling who dodged it as he picked up his girl. “See ya Sasori-san,” he said as he landed on the bird that soared away from the sight. Looking back from where she sat by her master's feet, Jessica saw the blond haired boy run out of the cave after them.
“Wait the heck up!” He yelled angrily.
“That's it,” Deidara said with a smirk on his face.
“What are we doing?” She asked as she looked up at him.
“Baiting the fish,” he replied as he showed his teeth.
