Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ World Collision ❯ Where's Jessica? ( Chapter 34 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
It's been a while since I've last updated, yee'sh! Anyhow, here you go. I'm actually drawing something to go along with the next (or `next' `next') chapter that has to do with this…

Jessica coughed as she held her arms against her chest. With the rain pouring down all around them, she felt as if her very bones would turn into ice cubes soon enough. She was still thankful for a few things though. When it had started to rain, the two men had put on their identical triangular straw hats they wore from time to time. She of course, was the only one without any protection against the elements since her lower arms and feet were completely exposed. It wasn't as if her clothes were that thick either; it was a lot warmer in the village her master had bought the outfit two weeks or so before hand. Seeing this, the rather immature but sensible masked man took notice of this and offered his hat so she wouldn't get soaked. At first Jessica refused the hat, being that she didn't want to cause Tobi to get wet along with the fact that she had never been comfortable with using other people's clothing. In the end though, he poked and prided at the subject long enough to make the girl brake. Though the rain had started to settle down a bit in the past few minutes, she still dreaded the winds that drove the rain onto her every once in a while.
“Jessica-chan, what's your favorite color?” Tobi asked to add on to the long series of questions he had already asked the girl.
“I don't know; maybe blue or black?” She replied as she tried hiding the loud chatter of her teeth. “What's your favorite color then?”
The man whose head was now mainly covered with a hood that was attached somewhere on his cloak then put on a hand on his chin as he thought. “Hnm, I'm not sure either! Maybe red or white like my clan's symbol,” he said before beginning to trial off.
“Your clan's symbol,” Deidara said in a questioning fashion as he turned his head to look at his partner without slowing his walking pace down the muddy forest road. “What clan are you from anyhow; Mm?”
“What are you talking about?” Tobi replied in an innocent voice as if he had no idea what so ever in what his fellow co-worker was saying.
“Tobi, you just said it; your clan's symbol is red and white. Just what clan are you from then?” He said rather dully as he was beginning to become warn out from all of the man's useless responses.
“Tobi is just Tobi, Sempai,” he replied as he lifted his arms into the usual shrugging-like pose. “I don't see why you make such a big deal out of it.”
“Tobi,” the blond made out between his teeth as he glared at the man who had given countless headaches ever since he was assigned as his new partner.
“Deidara-sama; it isn't worth it. Just let him go off in his own little world of make believe.” Jessica said hoarsely in the man's direction. She too was getting rather annoyed with all of Tobi's games, but she could endure it a lot longer than those who have never had siblings who were a lot younger than they around them. As cute and innocent as her little brother looked, and as much as a sister can love her little brother, she had many incidences where she wanted to strangle the never racking child.
Grumbling a bit, Deidara held his raged back as much as he could. Sighing, Tobi released his protective pose a few feet away from where he usually stood beside the girl and her owner. “Few, Tobi thought he was a goner!” He said as he chuckled a bit. Then pausing for a moment as everything fell into silence again, he asked yet another question. “So Jessica-chan, which one of us is your favorite? Tobi or Deidara-Sempai,” he said as he looked straight at the blond. “Well,” he said pressuring the girl.
“That's it; I'm going to kill you!” Deidara yelled as he shoved his hands in his large pouches. Yelling at the top of his lungs, the orange masked man then ran at a surprisingly fast speed to get away from the angered terrorist's rage he brought against himself. Shortly behind the man, the blond then ran after him with flaming eyes as he started to throw his clay bombs at the man.
“Oh no,” Jessica said under her breathe as she shrunk down a bit every time a new bomb would go off after missing it's fast-paced target. “At this rate I'll loose track of them for good,” she thought to herself as she started to hopelessly chase after the two. “Wait,” she yelled as she cupped her hands around her mouth. As the two got father and farther away, it was clear that they didn't hear one of her pleas. Finding that it was no use to try anymore, she stopped dead in her tracks. Sighing as she sunk her head and shoulders, she shook her head. “Of for Pete's sake, does anyone around here have any decent amount self-control?”
“I don't know about you, but I sure don't.” A masculine voice said from behind. Jessica's hair stood on end as her whole figure froze. Slowly turning her head, she saw that two, unfamiliar figures stood about two yards away. “Tell me, what is a pretty little woman like you doing out here all alone on a day like this?”
“Oh, the poor thing must be terribly cold! Perhaps we can help her.” The other said as he chuckled a bit. Quickly turning to face the two men completely, she gulped as she tried to keep herself under control.
“Who are you?” She asked with a controlled voice as she raised her chin higher in the air to make her feel a bit more protective of herself. The one to her left, the first speaker, then chuckled a bit as he stepped towards her.
“Who, me; why I'm no one worth mentioning.” He replied as she took a few steps back. “Don't be afraid little woman, you'll be safe with me.”
“I'm perfectly fine without you, thank you very much. Besides, I'm not alone.” She stated as she stomped a foot down.
“A feisty one, aren't you now? Just how I like a girl,” he said with an alluring slur in his tone. “Say, if you're not alone then where are your companions? There's no one else around but you, my friend, and myself.”
“My… Husband is near by. He just needed to do something in the woods. Besides him there's our friend who had accompanied him; to make sure he didn't run into any trouble in the forest.” She lied, hoping to warn the two off.
“That's a pity, though it's expected that someone put a claim on your pretty little head already. Hnm, you look so young to be wedded. It's too bad really; he should have been more concerned with your safety than his own… You being alone on this road only asks for trouble to come, now doesn't it?”
“What do you mean by that?” Jessica replied rather shakily as her legs wobbled beneath her.
“Oh, I think you know.” He replied in a voice that sent shivers crawling up and down her back.
“Next time I'll really kill you!” Deidara scolded as his partner silently walked a few paces behind him.
“Right, of course Deidara-Sempai…” Tobi chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. “By the way; where's Jessica-chan?” Deidara then stopped in his tracks as he looked around a bit.
“She's around here somewhere.” He replied as he continued walking the way they had come. “I didn't think we went that far though…” He mumbled to himself as he glanced around.
“At least the rain has stopped, no? Jessica-chan was cold, so she's probably happy that it's gone now.” Tobi commented as he looked up into the sky after pulling his hood off.
“Who wouldn't be happy that the blasted rain is gone?” The blond replied as he looked back at his partner who merrily looked at the clearing sky. Just as he was about to look forwards again, he raised his eye brows as Tobi stopped and pointed franticly at something.
“Ah, look it's that hat Jessica was wearing! It's not on her head!” He shouted as he ran up to the object and picked it up from the puddle of dirty water it lay in.
“Well of course it's not on her head if it's on the ground!” Deidara yelled as his face started to show that he was beginning to panic in his search.
“But Sempai, where is Jessica-chan then?” He asked as he looked up at the blond from his crouched position near the ground. “Well, Deidara-Sempai, where is she?” He pestered after waiting a few seconds in a worried voice as his partner bit his lip.
“I don't know,” he shouted. “I don't know… But we'll… I'll find her.”
