Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ World Collision ❯ Where is my faith now? ( Chapter 36 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Okay, I'll try to get one more out tonight, but 11PM is approaching fast and I've got to get up at 6:45AM tomorrow so… Ya, I'll need to hurry! I'll die if I don't get the next out tonight, since I've had this idea for a while… (Well about a week actually; what difference is there?)

There was little conversation to be held between the blond and the orange masked man as they searched over the surrounding area of where they last saw the girl. They had only been away from her for all but ten minutes; not an amount time you should be real concerned about loosing someone like her in. Could she have chased after them, got freaked out by one of the explosions, and somehow got lost in the forest? Nothing really made sense in the blond's mind as he pondered on it. Could there have been some other ninja in the area he whose presence he didn't pick up? Deidara quickly shook that thought from his head as he found the whole thing absurd. How would he of all people not pick up another's presence; he wasn't in the Akatsuki for nothing! Besides that, the only sort of men that would be around the area would be travelers and mountainous men; no one who would dare to pester with the likes of him. Even if they were unable to identify that he was a part of the Akatsuki, he still had the body of a ninja and wore the forehead protector of an S-ranked rogue ninja.
“Tobi, any luck?” He asked as he and his partner met back on the road again.
“Sorry, Tobi hasn't found a trace of Jessica-chan…” He said sadly. Sneering in aggravation, Deidara looked up at the sky that was once again overcastted with storm clouds, though that wasn't the only reason why it was now growing dark. “Sempai, we've been searching for hours now… And it's getting late. We should make a camp site soon, before it starts raining again.” He suggested as lightning flashed through the still air.
“You could make one if you want, but I'll keep looking.” The blond replied as the thunder reached their ears. “She's my responsibility… I can't just let her stay out in a storm all night… Besides that, I told her a while back that I would make sure she'd be okay as long as I was her master…” He whispered as a chilling wind flooded through the passage.
“Whatever you say Sempai,” Tobi said sighing as he leapt back in the direction he came.
Jessica's eyes jolted open as her consciousness returned to her. Panicking at once, she looked at her surroundings. She found herself in some sort of a camping ground, with wagons and tents here and there. As rain was now once again pouring out its rage against the earth, she coughed after she tried breathing in the hard air down her dry throat. There seemed to be no one around at the moment, though she heard voices from the tent that was set up behind her. Sitting up from her leaning position against a pile of logs, she saw that her arms and legs her bound tightly in thick pieces of rope. Looking back towards the circular shaped area that was cornered in by all of the wagons and tents, she saw that one man was looking at her. She became rather alarmed, though not as much as she would have if it had been one of the men from earlier. This one, however, looked like a man in his mid twenties, and he had no facial hair from what she could see from the glair from a light of the tent behind her. After a few seconds, the man then dropped his gaze and went into the red trailer-like wagon that was beside him.
“So you're up,” the familiar voice of the man who kidnapped her stated as he walked out of the tent. As her body grew stiff at his arrival, the man chuckled as he looked at the girl's bewildered gaze. “You've got a lot a head of you, just you wait and see little woman.” He said as he bent down near her level. He then turned his head as the door to the wagon then opened again as the young man walked out.
“Hey Penuel, come here for a moment would ya?” He shouted to the dark haired man who then silently approached him. Once he was beside him, he then nodded towards the girl he had stolen during the day. “This young lady needs to be kept an eye on. I have a clam on her, and I'm thinking of selling her in the Market tomorrow. Being that you're new around here, it'll be good practice for you to make sure she doesn't do anything suspicious if you get my meaning… By the way; when did you join us? A day or two ago,” he asked as he rose to his feet.
“I met up with your band three days ago.” He replied as he looked at the man who must have been a good five years older than him by the looks of it.
“Right… Just make sure she doesn't get loose.” The man mumbled as he walked back into the tent with long strides. After following the man's movements with her eyes, Jessica's gaze quickly became directed on the man who now stood before her. She felt puzzled as he looked down at her with no emotions, though it didn't seem like a negative expression either.
“He says to rest up; you have a journey ahead of you.” He stated in a monotone as he then looked to the sky.
“What kind of journey,” she asked before almost snickering as she thought of the sick things the man who was in the tent held in store for her. “Do I have to travel to some sort of a market to be sold tomorrow?”
“He said to rest up, Miss Roans.” The man replied as a look of shock came over the girl's face.
“How do you know my name?” She staggered with eyes filled with fear.
“Why do you have so little Faith?” He responded in a questioning way before looking up at the stars again. Jessica didn't speak any further as a single tear sprung from her eye. Bowing her head a bit, she stared at the ground as the rain that gathered at the tips of her hair drizzled around her. She now had a good idea of just who this man was and who he was talking about.
